Leading Stanford neurologist and psychiatrist Dr. Nolan Williams joined us for a deeper understanding of current scientific explorations into the growing use of psychedelics in relieving and curing mental health problems. Though not ignoring valid concerns over bad trips and underage usage, Dr. Williams demonstrated how FDA approved research with safeguards can lead to mental health cures. He spoke, too, of the history of the Controlled Substances Act, the brain's plasticity, and sacramental drugs such as Ayahuasca and Ibogaine as well as Psilocybin (magic mushrooms), MDMA (Ecstasy), ketamine, electroconvulsive therapy, EMDR and spaced learning. A renaissance in non-recreational psychedelic uses with some striking results!

“This is often done using a mule's gastrointestinal tract or other body cavities as containers. Swallowing has been used for the transportation of heroin,[1][4][5] cocaine,[6] and MDMA/Ecstasy.[7] A swallower typically fills tiny balloons with small quantities of a drug. The balloons may be made with multilayered condoms, fingers of latex gloves,[6] or more sophisticated hollow pellets. One smuggling method involves swallowing the balloons, which are recovered later from the excreted feces. Alternatively, the balloons may be hidden in other natural or artificial body cavities – such as rectum,[6] colostomy,[8] vagina, and mouth[9] – although this method is far more vulnerable to body cavity searches. A drug mule may swallow dozens upon dozens of balloons.[5] The swallower then attempts to cross international borders, excrete the balloons, and sell the drugs. It is most common for the swallower to be making the trip on behalf of a drug lord or drug dealer. Swallowers are often impoverished and agree to transport the drugs in exchange for money or other favors. In fewer cases, the drug dealers can attempt extortion against people by threatening physical harm against friends or family, but the more common practice is for swallowers to willingly accept the job in exchange for big payoffs. As reported in Lost Rights by James Bovard: "Nigerian drug lords have employed an army of 'swallowers', those who will swallow as many as 150 balloons and smuggle drugs into the United States. Given the per capita yearly income of Nigeria is $2,100, Nigerians can collect as much as $15,000 per trip."[10] Swallowers have been apprehended from a variety of age groups, including adults, teens, and children.[5]” --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

LSD and Ecstasy were once the hippy-trippy illegal substances for concerts, raves, and parties. Now these psychedelics are back in the news — this time for their positive impact on trauma and depression.  Today nearly one in five American adults lives with a mental illness, and PTSD will affect an estimated 7.7 million Americans at some point in their life. That's according to NAMI, the National Alliance of Mental Illness.  Over the past 30 years, researchers and psychotherapists have discovered the transformative benefits of treating trauma, depression, anxiety and drug addiction in controlled therapy sessions using methylenedioxy methamphetamine (MDMA). KCRW explores how psychedelics and specifically MDMA have shifted the paradigm when it comes to the treatment of trauma, and what the de-stigmatization and medical legalization of these drugs could mean for future treatments of mental disorders.

Salvia, you b*tch. I miss this version of myself, one who was so fearless. I would have never thought I would become so anxious until one day at Venice Beach, California. Even the citizens of Los Angeles look at going to Venice Beach as if it were going to be an incredible adventure. Once you get passed all the rappers trying to sell you copies of their CDs, you enter what seems to be where the 70s decided not to die and stay. It isn't like this today, and I don't need to explain why unless you just woke up from a coma. That's what I can explain the effect you feel when you're on Salvia. There has been a wide awakening to psychedelics in the last years. It is mainly regarding MDMA (Ecstasy), Psilocybin (Shrooms), Ayuascha, 5meo-DMT, to name a few. Salvia is different; even though it is a psychedelic, it's in the family of the sage plant. New Age Occultists or (witchcraft) burn sage to eliminate what is unwanted in their interpretation and discernment. History brings us back to times when persons practicing witchcraft were burned alive. That is partly why the discussion of Salvia is rarely in the forum. Christianity considers burning sage as a medium for sorcery. Surprisingly, sage is in many products we use today, especially candles. Salvia, sage, and mint all come from the same family. They look identical. The past decade has been thrilled with the discovery of DMT. In this article, I'll refer to Ayuasca and 5meo-DMT as simply “DMT.” If you must know the difference at face value, Ayuasca is administered by drinking, while 5meo-DMT is administered through an apparatus and inhaled. Every plant psychedelic is carefully looked at because we share a similarity with the plant. For example, methamphetamine does not have a spirit because it's artificial. What happens when you cut a flower from its root? You killed it. Think about that next time someone gives you flowers. Like plants, those who believe in the soul understand that our souls are attached to our bodies. When our body fails, our spirit soul splits from the body. So when you take any of these psychedelics, you have to approach them understanding this because you will (if the spirit is willing) experience the death of your ego. The boys and I went to our friend's open house. His parents were into real estate at the time, and he had this whole complex to himself. If you ever try any psychedelic, be sure to have an expert with you or, at the least, a sober observer. At the time I tried it, we rarely Google said anything. The first iPhone was just about to release in the following months. We brought back from Venice a few new pipes for cannabis. However, we saw a plant displayed next to the incense in one of the shops. A disclaimer under it says, “not for human consumption.” A marker board next to the plant stated, “30x Salvia $60, 50x Salvia 80$, 80x Salvia $100.” The shopkeeper is a hippy — with bright blue eyes and dreadlocks. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/attackinganxiety/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/attackinganxiety/support

Having trouble connecting with your partner sexually and emotionally? Sex expert Jaiya Ma says it can be because of your unprocessed traumas and lack of self-love. In this wildly vulnerable episode of the Align Podcast, world-renowned sexologist Jaiya Ma and her partner Ian Ferguson reveal the top secrets to having the best sex of your life. Hint: Great sex isn't about what you do; it's about who you are. Jaiya and Ian talk about the importance of taking on "masks" or personas to fully express your erotic self without the conditioned feeling of shame. That’s according to NAMI, the National Alliance of Mental Illness.

Anand Jon Alexander was a rising star in the fashion industry in 2007 when he was arrested and ultimately convicted of one count of rape and many counts of lesser sexual offenses. Although there were no injuries on anyone and he had no history of violence, he was sentenced to 59 years to life in prison. He has spent over 13 years in prison and barely survived a racial hate crime stabbing in 2019. He is suing the State of California for an undisclosed amount. Joining Everyday Injustice is attorney Tim Milner, who has been working on the Commutation case. Attorney Tim Milner explained that he has been a lawyer for 40 years and usually tends to shy away from scandalous sex cases, but this was an exceptional case. “This man is innocent,” he said. “He also had one of the worst trials that I’ve seen.” He noted that he has done at least 80 trials and “this guy did not get a fair shake." Also joining is Amy Povah, from the CAN-DO foundation. Amy Povah herself served nine years in prison before President Bill Clinton commuted her sentence—a 24-year sentence for conspiracy charges in a high profile MDMA (Ecstasy) case dating back to 1989. She now serves as an advocate for mostly federal clemency cases. She was involved in the three most recent commutations by President Trump. “What concerns me about Anand,” she said, is that “clemency is about mercy. So many people receive clemency who are not innocent… The sentence he received is so disproportionate to a normal case with the same allegations. He was convicted on very thin evidence.” One of the incarcerated people on Anand Jon's yard also joins the show to discuss conditions at Donavan under the specter of COVID-19.

We pulled aside a handful of experts to talk with us during the Drug Policy Alliance's 2017 International Drug Policy Reform Conference in Atlanta. Marsha Rosenbaum sat down to talk with us about what drug education should look like for young people, and her experience as a mother, researcher and drug policy reformer trying to get schools to implement a curriculum grounded in science and harm reduction. Rosenbaum founded DPA's San Francisco office and is the author of the prominent education booklet, "Safety First: A Reality-Based Approach to Teens and Drugs." From 1977 to 1995 she was the principal investigator on National Institute on Drug Abuse-funded studies of heroin addiction, methadone maintenance treatment, MDMA (Ecstasy), cocaine, and drug use during pregnancy. She is the author of three books, four education booklets, as well as numerous scholarly articles about drug use, addiction, women, treatment, and drug policy.

A traumatic event can be like an emotional sledgehammer to the brain, rewiring your nervous system, so it's always revving in the red. It could leave you permanently edgy, your startle response on a tripwire. You'll be quick to rage. You might struggle to concentrate or sleep. You'll become listless and depressed. You might have flashbacks, or suppress those fossil-like memories. You might sink into the bottle, cut yourself off from others, or worse. But early efforts to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with psychedelics suggests that hallucinogenic mushrooms and MDMA - Ecstasy, on the street - might be able to rewire the brain back into a healthier, calmer state.

With 2017 marking the 30th anniversary of the UK partying revolution known as Acid House, music industry veteran and old-school raver Mike Angel returns to offer some perspectives on this movement. The ‘Second Summer Of Love’ as it came to be dubbed, led, in turn, to open-air raves, then the UK superclubs, before paving the way for EDM - or Electronic Dance Music - to be exported to the rest of the world. It’s now a colossal scene, influencing the lives of millions of young clubbers all over the world. We reflect on whether a movement with this level of reach would have been allowed to evolve naturally, or whether it bears the hallmarks of the military intelligence and social engineering institutions, as the original ‘Summer Of Love’ in California has now been shown to have done. Whereas LSD went hand in hand with the psychedelic music of the 1960s, the soundtrack to the electronic dance music of the late 80s and beyond was MDMA/ Ecstasy. Where did all the pills come from, and why were they allowed to be distributed when the authorities could have cracked down much harder if they’d chosen to?
