Joining The Feds this week is Twila Brase, RN, president of Citizens' Council for Health Freedom and author of the book Big Brother in the Exam Room: The Dangerous Truth about Electronic Health Records. We discuss the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and how it not only does not provide privacy for medical history, but allows your information to be more readily shared. We discuss what citizens can do to turn the tide and reverse this deceptive act, the role AI already plays in the medical system, and what kinds of doctors freedom-minded Americans should be seeking out. Twila warns our audience of the harms of the REAL ID and the greater power the federal government would hold if a significant number of Americans comply. She gives the history of the National ID discussion, and debunks the claim that citizens will no longer be able to fly after May 7, 2025 without the REAL ID. Twila gives helpful insight into what we can do to turn this tide, and continue to demand our freedoms be respected and upheld. In this episode, we're talking about how America has real leadership again under Trump's administration, the importance of deporting illegal immigrants to restore law and order, and why we need to confirm RFK Jr. for the good of American health and wellbeing. We'll break down the policies that actually put America first, expose the chaos that's unfolded since, and discuss how we can push for real positive change for our country. We also need to focus on how we (desperately) need a separation of business and state.—https://noblegoldinvestments.com/invest/gold-ira/
Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened down 129-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 23,522 on turnover of 9.4-billion N-T. Shares in Taiwan extended their momentum from a session earlier to close above the 23,600 point level Tuesday, with the bellwether electronics sector continuing to drive the broader market higher after a rally by tech stocks in the United States overnight. Analysts say "Investors continued to chase TSMC amid optimism over artificial intelligence development", but "Non-tech stocks largely moved in weakness and also capped the gains on the broader market". UK Launches Electronic Travel Authorization The UK has introduced its Electronic Travel Authorization system, now required for visa-exempt (免除,豁免) travelers, including Taiwanese nationals with a National ID number. Starting today, visitors must apply online or via the UK ETA app before entering the UK. Each application costs £10 Pounds, or around 410NT, and takes about three working days to process. Approved ETAs are valid for two years, allowing multiple entries, with each stay capped at six months. Meanwhile, the EU's European Entry/Exit System, initially planned for November 2024, has been delayed due to unfinished upgrades at Schengen airports. No new launch date has been announced. Taiwanese passport holders can still enter Schengen countries visa-free for now. Updates on the EES will follow as details become available. (PB) LA Evacuations Amid Fastmoving Wildfire Thousands of people in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood west of Los Angeles have been ordered to evacuate (撤離) due to a fast-moving wildfire. Dangerous windy conditions are forecast to continue into Wednesday. Ira Spitzer has more from California. Australia Plane Crash Leaves Dead and Missing Officials say three people have been seriously injured and another three are missing after a seaplane crashed off an Australian tourist island. Police say only one of the seven people aboard the Cessna 208 Caravan was rescued without injury after the crash during takeoff from Rottnest Island on Tuesday afternoon. The plane was returning to its base in Perth. Officials say specialist (專家) investigators are being sent to the scene. The three injured people were flown to a Perth hospital in serious but stable conditions. Britain Hearing on Shein Labor Practices A lawyer for Shein summoned to a British parliamentary hearing has evaded questions on whether the fast-fashion giant sells products containing cotton from China. That angered lawmakers seeking answers on the retailer's labor practices and allegations of forced labor in its supply chains. Executives from Shein and its rival Temu were grilled on their labor rights compliance and how they source their products at Parliament's business and trade committee Tuesday. Committee officials say statements by the Shein lawyer have given lawmakers “zero confidence” in the integrity (正直,誠實) of Shein's supply chains. The hearing came amid reports that Shein is preparing for a $62 billion US dollar listing in London. That was the I.C.R.T. EZ News, I'm _____. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn

We were delighted to talk to James Williams, well known Telecoms Industry Enabler and Communicator. James is now VP Business Development for XConnect (a Somos company). We talk about James's career and how he moved into Telecoms. We discuss the power of Mobile Operator Brands and how the potential market share for Messaging Services in the SME sector is still not being tapped into fully. James points out the importance of the Phone Number, which can be argued to be more important than a National ID card, for example. Finally we finish on James's surprising hobbies and how he relaxes when at home. It was great to get James's insightful comments delivered in a very clear manner. Finally, as always, we play out on James's choice of a floor filler song. Enjoy. #Ep.065 The National Identity Card Project, an effort to digitize nationality through the distribution of a biometric-informed electronic card, began as part of Nepal's e-Governance mission back in 2008. After years of delay, the NID is now in full swing, with almost 10.3 million individual data collected so far. Although the government initially touted the project for upholding Good Governance, many critics are now pointing out the gaps in implementation surrounding inclusion, data security, and more. In this episode, PEI's Khushi Hang sits with researcher and activist Neha Gauchan to explore Nepal's National ID program within the context of digitization in governance. They trace the development of the project, highlighting key actors and events that have come under scrutiny. They then evaluate risks and vulnerabilities in the project and digitization of governance in general, with a particular focus on inclusion, data security, data justice, and tech solutionism. Neha Gauchan is a feminist indigenous human rights activist. She currently coordinates the Knowledge Generation program at Body & Data, where she is involved in research on Digitizing Identity in Nepal. Previously, she worked in the field of digital rights with a primary focus on children. Neha has a Master's in Human Rights and Democratization from Manila University. This week, Adrian sits down for a long, in-depth discussion with Data Protection Commissioner Helen Dixon on why she stopped the government from making its Public Services Card into a national identity card through the backdoor. After years of controversy, this week her office ruled that the PSC card cannot be used as a necessary form of identification for services outside the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection. The move effectively puts a halt to any plans the government had of making the Public Services Card a ‘national identity card' through stealth. “The Department does not have a legal basis for processing personal data when it's in the case of a person who's seeking to avail of a service with the public sector body other than the Department itself,” she tells Adrian. However, she stopped short of saying that the Public Services Card must be scrapped. “Any cards that have been issued, their validity is not in question by anything we've found in this report,” she said. “They can continue to be used in the context of availing of free travel or availing of benefits that a person is claiming from the Department.” Dixon qualifies this by saying that the PSC can be used voluntarily by a citizen as a valid proof. “If someone optionally brings their public services card to renew their driver's license, there is no issue with that. But what we're saying is that it must be an option. A public sector body cannot now require someone who doesn't already have one, to go and procure one in order to avail of their service.” The PSC has been criticised by civil liberties groups who claim it is an attempt by the government to create a national identity card by stealth. Earlier this year, UN special rapporteur on poverty, Professor Philip Alston, said that the PSC “runs the risk of becoming a centralised database containing intimate, personal information” that was unsafe. Government ministers have repeatedly claimed that the PSC is a protection against fraud, identity theft and helps to cut costs. They say that the card simplifies identity registration for public services and reduces the need for duplicate forms and the repetition of processes. However, Dixon tells Adrian that the PSC as currently constructed is overarching and is sometimes being used without good reason or legal justification. “An example is the Department of Education's appeal system around school transport,” she said. “It now says that you have to procure a PSC card to make an appeal. It's very difficult to see why that's a requirement.” Dixon also tells Adrian that she has opened a new investigation into the owner of The Huffington Post, Techcrunch and Yahoo. The Irish DPC office is now probing Verizon Media, formerly known as Oath, around complaints that its online media properties do not give users choice around online ‘cookies' that track user activity online. Meanwhile, Dixon tells Adrian that her office's first major GDPR decision relating to a multinational tech firm looks set to be about Whatsapp. “I expect that file to land on my desk in the next fortnight,” she said. However, it is then likely to take “months” to arrive at a formal decision due to a statutory process of “examination and analysis”. Dixon's office currently has 61 statutory enquiries underway under GDPR law, 21 of which are focused on tech multinational firms. These include Facebook (8), Twitter (3), Apple (3), Whatsapp (2), Instagram (1), Google (1), Linkedin (1), Quantcast (1) and Verizon Media (1). Under GDPR law, the Irish DPC can fine a company up to 4pc of its annual turnover.

National Soccer Camps offer a channel for kids interested in soccer to pursue higher levels of competition, gain exposure to many coaches (often world class coaches), a chance to build unique memories, and to gain exposure on a much larger stage for those interested in college or professional soccer careers. This experience is not for everyone, but for those it serves, it can be a life changer. Our club, the Damascus Soccer Club in Maryland, formed a partnership with Global Image Sports (GIS) and the Stoke City Potters Academy in England to bring camps like this to players in the Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and DC region. Several kids came though our first camp this summer. A handful of kids qualified. I traveled with them to Georgia as they completed their National Camp experience. What follows will give you an insiders' look at the process we went through to bring National Camps to our region, to play through them as a player, and to coach through them as a coach. It can take years, depending on local competition, for coaches and players to get individual players ready to compete effectively for the slots available. Eva Galperin, Maya Indira Ganesh Over the last year the world has witnessed a series of security breaches that have compromised massive repositories for personal information: the Equifax hack that compromised the should-be-secret social security numbers of over 140 million Americans; a breach of India's Aadhaar biometric ID database of 1.2 billion citizens; the hack of the South Korean ID database; the 2015 US Office of Personnel Management hack; the effects of WannaCry on the British National Health Service; of vulnerabilities in Estonia's ID chip card. And there is no guarantee there won't be more in the future. The breaches and hacks of these databases tend to be discussed in terms of implications for personal privacy, and cybersecurity since data is viewed as a commodity to be bought and sold. Many of these databases are in fact public assets. How does the notion of ‘critical infrastructure' scale beyond physical assets like bridges and roads or water supply systems? How do we rethink design, ownership, liability and security when large national databases are viewed as critical social and public infrastructure? As a national ID number is used to access a variety of services, we seek to show how this layer of ‘social infrastructure' creates challenges for a variety of industries, social and public systems. We will parse tensions - and competing interests - at different levels of the infrastructure stack. Panelists will map the technical, social and personal impacts of database compromise, and in doing so will look at the role of various stakeholders and response strategies, as well as address what governments and individuals can do to take preemptive security measures. As these systems do not offer citizens a way to ‘opt-out', discussion will discuss philosophical notions of privacy and security, and try to rethink ethics and accountability in these contexts. The panel will also assess the new challenges these large hacks have for digital security trainings and infosec best practices at the individual and organizational level given the increasingly asymmetrical power dynamics between citizens, states, corporations, and large digital artifacts like databases
A world where authorities no longer have to even ask for ID is a scary one, especially if you have no recourse in how that massive collection of data gets used. Jim Harper is author of "The New National ID Systems." See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

In this episode of Thoughts from Maharrey Head, I talk about state resistance to a national ID program mandated by the REAL ID Act of 2005 and how the will to stand up against the feds seems to be crumbling.
Capitol Fight Club – Voter ID Laws and Bernie v Trump’s Foreign Policy By John Gray, Brian Darling and Nate Madden In the premier episode of Capitol Fight Club, John Gray, Brian Darling, Sam Sacks, Sam Knight and Nate Madden battled over voter ID laws and who has a better foreign policy – Bernie or Donald Trump. Capitol Fight Club is a weekly face off between two political insiders on the right versus two on the left. Darling is a conservative libertarian who worked in the Senate for years, including a two year hitch with Sen. Rand Paul. Gray worked for Sen. Paul too and worked on the House side for the Budget Committee. Nate Madden is the ref and the moderator of the podcast. Our progressive friends, “The Sams,” Sam Sacks and Sam Knight, are the co-founders of the progressive blog The District Sentinel. Great blog and a good way to see how the other side thinks. Round 1 In Round 1 we battled over the idea of whether voter ID laws are suppressing voters from showing up. We reference the election in Wisconsin where the voters were felling the Bern. Brian and John, although not in love with Americans being forced to run around with a National ID card, made the case that liberals use this issues to play the race card against Republicans. Sam Sacks made an impassioned case that it is time to abolish these laws and force the federal government to defend the right to vote. Round 2 Round 2 was a segment dedicated to John Gray’s piece in Conservative Review titled, “Trump is Right, America is funding the Defense of the Free World.” We used that piece to battle between the Bernie foreign policy of a war against Global …. Warming versus Trump’s tough talk about how to defeat Islamic Extremists. Although the libertarians and progressives are all against nation building, they disagreed about who would be a better leader. It was an exciting bout and we expect the next episode to draw some blood and for all to leave with a few bruised egos. Hope you enjoy.
The REAL ID Act is a law that Congress passed without hearings in 2005, which sought to make state driver licensing into a national ID system. The law tries to coerce state compliance with federal identification standards by threatening that the Transportation Security Administration will refuse driver’s licenses and IDs from noncompliant states when Americans go to travel. This fall, a Department of Homeland Security campaign to stir up fears that the TSA will refuse drivers licenses at airports across America was so successful that passport offices in New Mexico were swamped, and a DHS official recently published a piece in the Albuquerque Journal backtracking on a widely reported January 2016 deadline for state compliance.DHS claims that all but a few holdout states stand in the way of having a national ID. But no state is in compliance today, and no state will be for the foreseeable future. Congress continues to fund this intrusive federal power grab, even as recent experience shows that national identification requirements are ineffective in enhancing security. Join us for a discussion of the national ID law, the ongoing implementation issues, and the reasons to abandon the policy of having a U.S. national ID. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In 2005, Congress gave states three years to begin issuing driver’s licenses according to national identification card standards. The REAL ID Act sought to coerce states into using machine-readable technology with federally defined data elements in their cards, capturing digital images of identity-source documents, and providing other states electronic access to information contained in their motor vehicle databases. Confronted by this unfunded domestic surveillance mandate, state leaders across the country instigated the “REAL ID Rebellion” in 2006.The Department of Homeland Security has never made good on the REAL ID law’s threat that Transportation Security Administration agents would refuse airport access to travelers from recalcitrant states. But the threat remains, and many states are inching toward putting their residents into the national ID system. Please join us for a discussion of the prospects for the U.S. national ID law 10 years along, and its incursion on the common law treatment of names. Today I'll take a few minutes to tie up some loose ends in our calm, rational discussion of immigration policy, and I'll answer an important question some of you are asking.
THIS WEEK ON WAKING UP ORWELL Make sure to search "Facebook" on the search bar located on our blog BeatTheChip.org to pull up all of this weeks news. Why waste a perfectly good show complaining about it when really important news is getting no coverage - like in the case of our Special Guest. NEW TO THE SHOW: Ambient Music! Here's how it works... cue music up from the following link and hit the play button during Ed Hasbrouck's world class interview. You can listen to the interview with or without the sound. It should calm it down so you can be a rational sane person during and after this interview vs. someone super agitated while you have to do pragmatic things like... work and concentrating on driving. Heads up for Nexxus & CLEAR card owners - this is very bad news. Hasbrouck also discusses the latest on a New Mexico man who is facing jail time for refusing ID to fly. In the trend of the exceptional becoming the norm, it is really high time we started paying WAY more attention to travel surveillance. The US is leading the international pack in the quest to surveill everyone. We discuss what's driving this in a very special 53 minute interview. Do we still have to worry about an RFID chip? Oh yeah. As a result of the Real-ID Act, all American citizens will have an electronically readable ID card that is linked to the federal database by May 2008. This means that in three years we will have a National ID card system that is being unilaterally controlled by one organization (DHS) whether we want it or not. Organizations such as the ACLU are already exploring opportunities for litigation. Privacy advocates cite Nazi Germany and slippery slopes, while the government waves the anti-terrorism flag back in their faces. Compromises and alternate solutions abound. Join us for a lively debate/open forum as an attempt to find a useable solution to this sticky problem. We will review solutions from the AMANA as well as ask why passports are not considered to be a privacy problem in the same ways. Would a National ID card make us safer? What to do about 15 million illegal immigrants? If college students can fake an ID, why can't a terrorist? What civil rights are abrogated by requiring everyone to possess an ID? What problem are we trying to solve anyway and will federal preemption address them?
