Today Laura chats one-on-one with Relativity CEO Phil Saunders. They chat about Phil's origin story and his journey to Relativity including a desire to work with Andrew Sieja, the Godfather of many things eDiscovery. They discuss if eDiscovery is boring and what keeps Phil up at night. Laura gets Phil's take on Relativity being either the 800 lbs. gorilla in the room, Bruce Lee or even Wayne Gretzky. They talk about Relativity's view on AI,  the Say-Do Ratio, the innovator's dilemma and Winston Churchill's cabinet position designed to get to the truth.  They also chat about a new approach and framework started by a group of industry leaders, Legal Data Intelligence.  Finally, they debate if pickle juice is gross (it is).  Phil Saunders joined Relativity as Chief Executive Officer in December 2022. He has more than three decades of operating experience in the technology industry. Phil has significant expertise in sectors germane to Relativity including enterprise SaaS, as CEO of both Cornerstone OnDemand and Saba Software; infrastructure technology, in roles at Oracle and Motorola; and cybersecurity, as an executive at SafeNet and Thales (formerly Gemalto). As the IoT ecosystem continues to grow, so does the importance of securing those IoT networks. According to Gartner, spending on IoT security solutions will reach $631 million. This is a significant leap from $91 million, which was spent in 2016, and this annual global spending statistic shows that IoT solutions are headed for a massive boom within the next decade.According to Gemalto, another worrying stat, 48% of businesses admit that they cannot detect IoT security breaches on their network. Nearly half of the companies that use IoT can't identify when their network is compromised. As more businesses invest in IoT technology, we can only hope that this number decreases. In this PodChats for FutureIoT, we speak to Pieter Danhieux, the Co-Founder and CEO of Secure Code Warrior about the state of IoT security.1.       Let's frame our discussion first: where can we find IoT technologies in a typical enterprise in Asia?2.       What are prevailing misconceptions about IoT security?3.       From your perspective, should leaders be concerned about IoT security? 4.       Where should senior leadership begin the discussion of IoT security?5.       What should be the key considerations for revisiting the security of their IoT infrastructure?6.       What about the skills/know-how around IoT security? Do we hire or outsource?7.       What preconceived ideas should leaders set aside when discussing IoT security?

My guest this week describes himself as a very ordinary person - in fact, even more ordinary than everyone else.  For his first job, he was a geography high-school teacher, but he was so low in confidence, his kids misbehaved very badly.  He then chose to try and learn how to live a better life. He left the classroom, flew to Siberia with his bicycle, and spent three years cycling home to London, via Papua New Guinea, Australia and Afghanistan. After that, he went on other adventures, including cycling across America on a tandem with his wife and walking the length of China.  National Geographic has made two television series about his journeys, and he’s the author of two books. He now lives in Hong Kong - he speaks all over the world, but especially at events in the Asia Pacific Region.  Through his experiences, he has discovered a new outlook on life - but he says he is still very ordinary.   Please welcome adventurer and author Rob Lilwall.  Recorded on:  21st November 2019 Bio Rob Lilwall is an adventurer, author, and keynote speaker with expeditions by bicycle and on foot across 80,000km of the world, including through Siberia in winter, Afghanistan, Tibet, Papua New Guinea and Mongolia. Rob Lilwall’s speeches tell the tale of how, as a very ordinary person, he learnt to camp at minus forty degrees in Siberia, to cross swollen rivers in the jungles of Papua New Guinea, and to survive the lonely passes of Afghanistan whilst riding the world’s slowest getaway vehicle. Using stunning photographs and videos, Rob relates such ordeals in the extreme corners of the world to the ever-growing challenges of the 21st century workplace.  He brings to life the mindsets that are needed to succeed in today’s uncertain, high-pressure and high-opportunity business environment, with powerful takeaways to empower the audience to thrive amid change, embrace challenges, and achieve great goals. Rob has given speeches in over 50 cities around the world, to organisations including Microsoft, Symantec, Gemalto, IBM, CBRE, Nike, Adidas, P&G, Mars-Wrigley, Hyatt and Marriott. Rob’s story has also been told in a critically acclaimed book published by Hodder and Stoughton (UK) and two television series’ by National Geographic. Paul Bradley, Head of 5G Strategy and Partnerships for Gemalto, joined Chip Chat at MWC 2018. Gemalto creates a fabric of trust across the digital economy, protecting individuals, institutions and data. Bradley emphasized the need for greater awareness and industry collaboration around 5G security requirements. Operators are understandably focused on interoperability, spectrum acquisition and go-to-market planning. With major technology changes, it will be critically important to maintain trust through vigorous privacy, data protection and regulatory compliance investments. Not just a new radio technology, 5G will drive new areas of digital transformation for Gemalto customers across government, banking, mobile and IoT and enterprises as well as the horizontal cybersecurity industry. Communication service providers (CoSPs) will become more than conduits of information, instead storing data at edge and core of the network, analyzing that data and triggering automated actions based on the data. CoSPs need to physically and logically secure data wherever it will be stored within the 5G system. In increasingly virtualized data and voice communication networks, Gemalto is delivering robust processor-level cybersecurity solutions. Gemalto’s SafeNet Data Protection On-Demand is a cloud-based, security-as-a-service platform that supports a diverse range of encryption, key management and hardware security module services. It offers developers a single gateway through which software solutions can be implemented direct to Intel® Software Guard Extensions, the highly protected enclaves embedded in the architecture of Intel® Xeon® processors for cloud data centers and virtualized networks. For more information on securing virtualized and 5G networks, download the whitepaper “A new trust model for the 5G Era” available here.
