Princess Cruises Hotel General Manager Simona Stumberger was selected to serve in this special role as an ambassador for Princess, because she epitomizes professionalism and always delivers service with a smile.A native of Slovenia where Stumberger studied hospitality management, she began her career at sea in the bar department and further diversified her hotel experience by working in guest services, and hand in hand with the hotel and food and beverage divisions. Stumberger has been with Princess Cruises for nearly five years. The float out completes the first comprehensive phase of construction for Sun Princess which now transitions to focus on building the ship's interiors. The 175,500-ton, 4,300-guest Sun Princess will offer an array of exciting new dining, entertainment and activity offerings, as well as luxurious staterooms and suites across a broad spectrum of categories. The ship will be highlighted by amazing, never-before-seen spaces such as The Dome, a transformational entertainment venue inspired by the terraces of Santorini, the next-level, brand-iconic Piazza, and three-story Horizons Dining Room that are sure to have everyone talking.Cunard to Launch Silent Discos in Onboard NightclubsYou can dance, you can jive, and you can have the time of your life – in blissful silence – as Cunard is set to launch silent discos aboard its very own dancing Queens. The luxury cruise brand is world-renowned for its glamorous onboard entertainment, but lesser known is the fact that Cunard's Queens are home to some of the liveliest nightclubs at sea.And now, as music lovers across the globe celebrate International DJ Day on 9 March, Cunard has announced that it is introducing silent discos to its iconic late-night venues on selected evenings. The stunning G32 onboard Queen Mary 2 is the biggest of the fleet's nightclubs, which is where you'll find partygoers seeing out the evening in style to the sounds of a live DJ and resident party band.Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, however, are home to the strikingly located Yacht Club, where, if you're looking for a night to remember, travellers dance the night away into the small hours. The introduction of silent discos to these venues is a modern twist on the more established late-night traditions of luxury cruise travel – and is another example of the many immersive onboard experiences offered by Cunard. The concept involves partygoers wearing wireless headphones and dancing to music that is only audible through the headphones. This creates a uniquely entrancing and customisable experience as guests control their own volume and switch between channels to hear different genres of music. This new offering also enables Cunard to take the nightclub proposition out of the main venues and into more unexpected places – transforming areas with parties in the Grand Lobby, on deck or other pop-up locations around the ship. And more...Join the show:If you have a cruise tip, burning question or want to record a cruise review get in touch with us via the website https://thebigcruisepodcast.com/join-the-show/ Guests: Chris Frame: https://bit.ly/3a4aBCg   Chris's Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ChrisFrameOfficialListen & Subscribe: Amazon Podcasts: https://amzn.to/3w40cDcApple Podcasts: https://apple.co/2XvD7tF Audible: https://adbl.co/3nDvuNgCastbox: https://bit.ly/2xkGBEI Google Podcasts: https://bit.ly/2RuY04u I heart Radio:  https://ihr.fm/3mVIEUASpotify: https://spoti.fi/3caCwl8 Stitcher: https://bit.ly/2JWE8Tz Pocket casts: https://bit.ly/2JY4J2M Tune in: https://bit.ly/2V0Jrrs Podcast Addict: https://bit.ly/2BF6LnE Hosted on Acast. In this episode, we speak to Birguy Lamizana about the Great Green Wall project. The Great Green Wall is one of the most inspirational and urgent movements of our times. This African-led initiative aims to grow an 8000km new world wonder across the entire width of the Continent to transform the lives of millions living on the frontline of climate change. The UN Convention to Combat Desertification is a key partner in the initiative.A decade in and roughly 15% underway, the initiative is already bringing life back to Africa's degraded landscapes at an unprecedented scale, providing food security, jobs and a reason to stay for the millions who live along its path.  The Wall promises to be a compelling solution to the many urgent threats not only facing the African Continent but the global community as a whole – notably climate change, drought, famine, conflict and migration. Once complete, the Great Green Wall will be the largest living structure on the planet, 3 times the size of the Great Barrier Reef.Improving Millions of Lives The Great Green Wall is taking root in Africa's Sahel region, at the southern edge of the Sahara desert - one of the poorest places on the planet.More than anywhere else on Earth, the Sahel is on the frontline of climate change and millions of locals are already facing its devastating impact. Persistent droughts, lack of food, conflicts over dwindling natural resources, and mass migration to Europe are just some of the many consequences.Yet, communities from Senegal in the West to Djibouti in the East are fighting back. Since the birth of the initiative in 2007, life has started coming back to the land, bringing improved food security, jobs and stability to people's lives.Link and Info:The Great Green WallUNCCD - United Nations Convention to Combat DesertificationThe Great Green Wall FilmYears of Living Dangerously- Series episode - 'Out of Africa'How to be good Socialwww.howtobegood.com.auInstagramFacebookLinkedInIf you like what we do and want to help us continue, please help us out by donating via Patreon; with two of the membership levels, we will also plant 3 or 5 trees monthly in your name.Email or contact us on:gareth@howtobegood.com.auGareth - LinkedIn - Instagramanca@howtobegood.com.auAnca - LinkedIn - InstagramPLEASE FOLLOW/SUBSCRIBE AND GIVE US A REVIEW - ALSO TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THE SHOW; THE MORE WE SPREAD THE WORD, THE BETTER FOR US ALL.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/howtobegood)Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/howtobegood)

These are incredibly harmful to aquatic life & the health of the millions living by those rivers banks. The contamination also reaches the sea,  eventually spreads around the globe. Water contamination in fertilizers for cotton production, heavily pollute runoff waters & evaporation waters. It can take up to 200 tons of freshwater per ton of dyed fabric. Every time we wash synthetic garments, about 1,900 individual microfibers are released into the water, making their way into our oceans. Scientists have discovered that small aquatic organisms ingest those microfibers are then eaten by small fish, which are later eaten by bigger fish, introducing plastic in our food chain.A family in the western world throws away an average of 30 kg of clothing each year. Only 15% is recycled or donated, and the rest goes directly to the landfill or is incinerated. Synthetic fibres are used in 72% of our clothing and can take up to 200 years to decompose. The apparel industry accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions.Every year, thousands of hectares of endangered and ancient forests are cut down and replaced by plantations of trees used to make wood-based fabrics such as rayon, viscose, and modal.Products & services we discussed in this episode:  NudnikThe Paddy wax candles that Lindsay mentioned and that we fell in love with and ordered.Amazone link: Paddy Wax Candles The band Lindsay mentioned collaborating with: The Tragically HipAustralian Circular EconomyGIVEAWAY how to enter: Subscribe to our podcast Like and share: Nudnik Facebook Page How to be good Facebook or follow and tag a friend on How to be Good Instagram  and Nudnik InstagramWinner to be randomly drawn two weeks post-episode publish. Gold Nuggets in this Episode: Boni and John now live in Mexico – sometimes on land, and sometimes on a boat. All while running a successful business. “We do not like to stay in one place for very long.” “While we were driving to our corporate jobs in downtown Toronto, I did the math on how much time we were spending in the car in our commute to work. Not including sleep time (factoring only productive time), we were each spending 8 weeks a year in the car.” Boni and John got rid of most of their material belongings, leaving Canada with 4 suitcases, their 2 cats, and a guitar. “As entrepreneurs we're all familiar with the necessity of embracing risk. There are still shades of grey: every entrepreneur is not comfortable with the same degree of risk.” “We are material creatures. Giving up that material connection is probably what keeps most people from doing what we've done.” “Our business matches the life that we want, as opposed to the other way around.” “If you set your mind to doing something, you can pretty much do anything.” “The act of thinking about, and going through the process of writing a book, about your business, is incredibly clarifying.” “Embrace the creativity in all aspects of the entrepreneurial journey.” “Don't ever let someone tell you that you cannot do something. You've got a dream, you've got to protect it. When people cannot do something themselves, they are going to tell you that you can't do it. You want something; you go get it. Period.” – Will Smith in Pursuit of Happyness Our guests are Boni and John Wagner-Stafford, co-founders of Ingenium Books, a hybrid publishing company – an alternative to both traditional publishing and self-publishing. After downsizing their lives, and packing up all their belongings, they left Canada with 4 suitcases, their 2 cats, and a guitar. Since then, Boni and John have been running their business while also traveling and living the life they want to live. Song by Adam Vitovsky / CC BY 3.0

The Fortune 1000 company is headquartered in Euclid, Ohio, United States and has a worldwide network of distributors and sales offices covering more than 160 countries. It has 42 manufacturing locations in North America, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Latin America. It also operates manufacturing alliances and joint ventures in 19 countries.[1] Lincoln started in 1895 by two brothers – John and James Lincoln. 11,000 employees worldwide but with a small family feel. Amy is a consummate recruiter and advocate for students. Her passion for helping students find a home that matches their career goals is evident throughout the interview. In the Cleveland location Lincoln hires about 75 interns and co-ops year-round. Interns are hired at other locations as well. There is a summer internship program and a fall and spring co-op program. Challenges: Lincoln is not a household name to some degree, so that can be a recruiting challenge. Getting all the hiring managers to submit their requests. What Lincoln does well: Assign interns a “Peer” instead of a mentor – this is not someone who is supposed to tell them what to do – it’s someone close in age or experience to them that is just a resource. Programming – offers a good deal of training to interns, for example backpacks to briefcase training. Applications of the suite are used in healthcare, financial institutions, insurance, government, higher education and manufacturing. The firm has its headquarters in Westlake, Ohio. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyland_Software Hyland has about 100 interns a year at the Westlake headquarters, with up to about 30 in other locations around the country and around the world. Summer is the primary intern season for Hyland, while some interns stay on part time after their internship. Hyland starts recruiting in the fall for the following summer. Hyland’s new global focus poses recruiting and HR challenges. They work on those issues locally and rely on their in-country HR resources as well. Challenges – Sourcing the requisitions from managers within Hyland to determine how many and what type of interns are needed. Using new forms approach to keep track. What makes a strong candidate? Looking at technical skills, educational background, also soft skills are just as important. “You can’t always teach those soft skills” teamwork, communication and being adaptable are importantOrientation – Looks like a full time hire really, attend meetings, work with their teams, also have weekly intern specific events – lunch and learns, service day, socials. Managers meet weekly or bi-weekly for feedback for the mentors. HR checks in mid-summer and at the end of the summer. Hyland asks interns for feedback as well and it can be anonymous. What makes the internship Rock? Being able to extend offers for full time hire or continued internship makes the program great. Advice to someone starting a program – Helpful to have someone dedicated to plan for and run the program. Executive buy in is key. Ensure that everyone is on the same page.
