Brendan Kane is a renowned digital strategist, author, and speaker who has built a name for himself by cracking the code on attention in the fast-paced world of social media. With a track record that includes pioneering YouTube influencer campaigns, developing digital platforms for icons like Taylor Swift and Rihanna, and generating over one million followers in just 30 days, Brendan is the go-to expert for understanding storytelling and growth in the digital space. His books, including "One Million Followers," "Hook Point," and "The Guide to Going Viral," have helped thousands master the art and science of authentic, scalable content creation. Brendan's mission is to empower individuals and brands worldwide to stand out, connect meaningfully, and transform their visions into digital success. Takeaways: Storytelling Is Everything: The foundation of social media success isn't luck or fancy equipment—it's mastering the art of storytelling through authentic formats that fit your personality and purpose. Start Where You Are, Master One Format: You don't need to be a tech wizard or have celebrity status to make an impact. Focus on one content format or platform you resonate with, master it, and then consider diversifying. Social Media Is a Scalable, Accessible Tool: Whatever your business, message, or ambition—social media gives everyone the power to reach millions, drive impact, and even build billion-dollar brands, all with the phone in your pocket. Sound Bites: “It's not about going viral for the sake of virality. True digital success is about the stories that connect people to who we are and what we stand for.” “If you can master authentic storytelling, it doesn't matter if you're a dentist or a rock star—you can build an audience and scale your business.” “Success on social isn't about the platforms you post on, but about how powerfully you tell your story and why the world should care.” Connect & Discover Brendan: Website: https://brendanjkane.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/brendankane Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BrendanJamesKane/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brendanjkane/ Book: The Guide to Going Viral Book: Hook Point Book: One Million Followers: How I Built a Massive Social Following in 30 Days

Your introduction to NOLA music on the I Listen to Everything podcast begins not with jazz, but with an upbeat hip hop genre that began in the late 80s. Bounce music is a subgenre that was incredibly succesful in New Orleans but unfortunately took a horrible natural disaster in 2005 to spread to other areas of the U.S.A. You can hear the genre referenced by mainstream artists like Drake, Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, Cardi B and even EDM DJs like Diplo but it will forever be indebted to the crescent city and the regional elements of New Orleans culture. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The gang is back! This week, your faves start off (2:32) the show honoring Rihanna's 20-year anniversary in music with her hit song "We Found Love," giving her all the flowers she deserves, and Naomie asking for new music. We catch up for a little bit and (13:32) rehash conversations from our last episode, and then Naomie poses the question of the week (24:46), which stemmed from Jim Iyke's viral interview this past week. She poses the question: Can a single woman truly raise boys alone, and vice versa? This sends the room into a frenzy for at least half an hour. On Nana's Corner (1:01:15), we discuss Cardi B's recent divorce confession, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement, the US Open drama, remembering Chadwick Boseman + MORE!In the main portion of the show (1:31:51), we discuss the concept of feedback and how we receive feedback as adults through the lens of our profession, academic, religious, relationship, friendship, online/offline, and male/female facets. We take a deep dive into moments (2:06:31), when we have got feedback and how we interpreted them in real time. We questioned whether we prefer stern or soft feedback, where that comes from, and how that has shaped our view of the world. Are we sensitive to feedback depending on who it's coming from or who is receiving it? These and more on the episode! Enjoy the show! Song Intro: Rihanna Ft. Ten years ago, X Ambassadors changed the alt-rock landscape with their debut album VHS, delivering unforgettable anthems like “Renegades” and “Unsteady.” Now, frontman Sam Nelson Harris reflects on a decade of growth, success, and transformation as the band prepares to release VHS(X)—a bold reimagining of the record that first put them on the map. He also shares what fans can expect from the upcoming VHS(X) Tour, reflects on the band's evolution from VHS to their latest album Townie, and dives into how his experiences writing and collaborating with artists like Rihanna, Eminem, and The Weeknd have shaped his artistry. “Every difficult situation that occurs to me, I just turn it immediately to a plus, and that is something that gives me the ability to thrive, to shine, to give." —Tally KorenWho decided your dreams have an expiration date? The brutal truth? Society's timeline for success is a myth—one that keeps brilliant people playing small while waiting for "the right time." But what if the most powerful chapters begin when we stop listening to the clock?Tally Koren, an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and producer, spent decades defying industry ageism and rejection to carve her own path. Her journey—from childhood talent show heartbreak to charting alongside Rihanna in her 60s—proves that reinvention isn't just possible; it's powerful.Press play for the ultimate masterclass in resilience: How to silence critics (including your inner saboteur), why artistic independence beats industry approval, the spiritual power of turning "minuses into pluses," and proof that your 40s/50s/60s might just be your most explosive creative era yet. Despite family objections and countless music business rejections, what kept her going was turning every minus into a plus, taking every refusal to become better, and every hard situation to do something good for herself and others. Her turning point to fulfil her childhood dreams and to become a singer happened at the age of 26, while she was in a very unhappy marriage.A singing teacher immediately recognized her talent and thought that her low voice was reminiscent of Karen Carpenter. In 2007, Tally made the decision to make her first album and not to wait for the record company.Despite one of the top radio pluggers telling her that she doesn't have a chance to make it nationally, being over 40. She made the choice to listen to the words of her song “Beauty of The Duty “saying “the only thing that holds you back is you”. Her song became a National success on BBC Radio 3 weeks later. Depending on who you ask, some would call the ultrarich “shameless”; others might say “aspirational.” For example: Mukesh Ambani, the Indian centibillionaire, has a room of snow in the Indian tropics—to say nothing of his skyscraper home, 168-car garage, and 600-person-staff. And celebrations for his kids' weddings featured Rihanna and Beyoncé. This is nothing new. Aristotle Onassis had whales' teeth carved into pornographic scenes from The Odyssey, and stools upholstered in whale foreskins which he kept aboard his yacht—because where else would you keep that? And one hedge-fund billionaire—whose name you won't even know—bought a 14-foot shark preserved in formaldehyde. Why? Why not? These opulent displays of wealth just scratch the surface. There are blood boys, Basquiats, and bunkers, many of them in New Zealand for the end of the world. From the Kochs to the Kardashians—most of us cannot look away. But one question remains: Do Americans loathe or love the ultrarich? That's one of the questions raised by Evan Osnos's new book, The Haves and the Have-Yachts. Evan is a staff writer at The New Yorker and an author—several times over. In his newest book, he investigates how this class of people—the “Have-Yachts”—got their money, how they spend it, and how they fight to keep it. It all paints a fascinating picture not just about America and capitalism, but about human nature and the status games we play. The book feels eerily relevant in this moment of social and political breakdown, fueled—perhaps above all—by rage at the economic picture and economic inequality. As Zohran Mamdani—the self-proclaimed socialist and likely future mayor of New York City—says, “Billionaires should not exist.” And anti-elite sentiment grows on the right, too—through voices like Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene. Today on Honestly, Bari asks Evan Osnos what this level of income inequality means for America, if a revolt or a revolution is in our future, and how AI is going to supercharge an already precarious status quo.
