Long before Christmas lists, shopping carts, and wrapping paper, there were gifts given for one reason alone: worship. Sophia Bricker opens this devotional with the story of Saint Nicholas—a man whose quiet, selfless generosity became the seed of a much later legend. His life reflects the heart of someone whose giving flowed out of devotion to Christ, not cultural expectation. But even before Nicholas, Scripture gives us another unforgettable picture of joyful generosity: the wise men. The Magi traveled far, guided by a star and propelled by hope. When they finally reached the child Jesus, they didn’t debate whether the gifts were too costly or wonder if He “needed” them. They simply bowed in awe and opened their treasures. Their gifts were symbolic—and sincere: Gold for His kingship. Frankincense for His priesthood. Myrrh for His sacrificial death. But more than symbolism, their offering revealed their hearts. They gave because they loved. They gave because they believed. They gave because worship compelled them. Jesus later taught, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).Our spending, our giving, our serving—they all reveal what we value most. For the follower of Christ, generosity is not an obligation. It is an overflow. Like Saint Nicholas, we feel convicted when our resources center on ourselves. Like the wise men, we long to lay what we have at Jesus’ feet. Like those early givers, our generosity flows from beholding the Savior for who He truly is. And the way generosity looks will be unique for each of us. Not everyone gives gold or frankincense. Not everyone tosses gifts through windows. But every believer has something to offer—time, talent, resources, compassion, presence, or encouragement. Generosity begins with worship.Worship leads to open hands.Open hands lead to lives that honor Christ. Bible Reading:“When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.” – Matthew 2:10–11 (NIV) Takeaway Truths The wise men’s gifts were rooted in joyful worship, not duty. Generosity reveals what we treasure most. Followers of Christ give from abundance, not scarcity. True generosity begins with beholding Jesus. Let’s Pray Great Savior, I stand in awe of Your majesty and grace. How incredible it is that You, the King of all creation, entered this world as a humble child and chose to identify Yourself with us. The wise men saw what so many missed—Your worth, Your glory, and Your identity as the promised Messiah. They bowed in worship and gave freely, not from pressure, but from overflowing joy. Lord, develop in me this same heart of generosity. Help me to use my time, my resources, and my gifts to honor You. Guide my giving so that it reflects trust, gratitude, and devotion. Everything I have is from You. Make me courageous and joyful in sharing my life with others, so that my generosity points back to You, the Giver of salvation and life. Amen. Allie delivers a clear, balanced primer on Calvinism by unpacking the terminology of total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints. Is Calvinistic theology a fatalistic puppetry or biblical sovereignty that magnifies God's glory? She traces its Reformation roots, American influence, and modern perception, while honestly addressing prideful “cage-stage” pitfalls. Whether you're Reformed, Arminian, or just curious, this episode equips you to understand one of Christianity's most debated (and misunderstood) theological frameworks. Fresh off an all-day press marathon and his final hours in New York, Wells breaks down his Macy's Day Parade livestream that pulled over a million views — and somehow, a million rage comments. Turns out parade purists do not play. Brandi meanwhile basked in the holiday bliss by hitting friendsgiving, which side note, gets you out of hosting, cooking AND cleaning. Probably the best plan out there. Plenty of hot takes this week including which of the Stranger Things kids acting chops have improved and which…um…still need work. Brandi thinks the DWTS finale was a crime, Wells computer may have dementia, and a very slick Tiktok christmas tree got the wrong kind of decorations. The pandemic introduced many to living with uncertainty. But for some, uncertainty has always been their norm. Actress Nikki Deloach has starred in several Hallmark Christmas movies, but her life hasn’t matched the happily-ever-after plot-lines of her characters. Nikki’s dad was diagnosed with an aggressive form of dementia and her son was diagnosed with congenital heart defects in utero… all in the same week. In this conversation, Kate and Nikki discuss how to live with constant uncertainty, how to stay open to both the terror and the beauty of living close to the edge, and how to make Christmas meaningful when hope is hard to come by. December is here, Advent is upon us, and while the world is speeding up, this conversation is an invitation to slow down, breathe deep, and remember that anxiety does not magically clock out for the holidays. In this episode, we talk with Ruth about what it looks like to set the tone for the month of Advent with intention, slowness, and a heart that is more focused on Jesus than on performance, expectations, or a perfectly curated Christmas. Episode Overview So often, December becomes a pressure cooker: Packed calendars Parties and performances Family expectations Untended relationships Mom guilt and spiritual guilt If we are honest, it is easy to end the month exhausted, anxious, and wondering if we missed what Advent was really about. This episode is a gentle reset. Together we talk about: Why your anxiety around the holidays is understandable How to set expectations and boundaries without guilt How to stop treating December like a spiritual performance review How to carry Advent rhythms into January, February, and beyond Practically preparing Him room in your actual life, not just your ideal one And underneath all of it: the reminder that God really does see you, loves you, and is not grading your Christmas performance. Key Themes From the Conversation Advent as a beginning, not a box Instead of cramming all spiritual depth into four weeks, we talk about Advent as the starting line for rhythms that can continue all year. The goal is not a perfect December, but a reoriented heart that remembers Emmanuel, God with us, in every season. Letting go of holiday perfectionism Naming how much of our striving is actually about approval, worth, and wanting to be seen as a good mom, good host, or good Christian. Asking honest questions: What do I think I will gain from doing all of this? Is this truly about honoring Jesus or about proving something? Heart clutter and preparing Him room Ruth shares how her work on Advent came out of her own struggle to feel like everything had to happen in December. The phrase "prepare Him room" assumes there is clutter in our hearts that needs to be cleared, not just in our schedules. Permission to say no You do not have to say yes to every party, event, or opportunity, even if they are all good things. Sometimes the holiest thing you can do is guard a blank square on the calendar as "occupied by rest, family, and presence." Repairing relationships without putting all the pressure on one month We often try to fix a year's worth of tension or distance in a single holiday season. Advent is a beautiful time to begin the work of reconciliation, but not a demand to tie everything up with a bow by December 25. Parenting, anxiety, and what our kids actually see Our kids are learning what Christmas is by watching us. When they see us frantic, angry, and stressed, they learn that "this is what Christmas feels like." When they see us repent, reset, and re-center on Jesus, they witness the Gospel in real time. Scripture Threads in This Episode 3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. Luke 12:27 Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. We talk about how Jesus pointed anxious hearts to birds and flowers as living reminders that the Father is not forgetful, and that our worth is not held together by our hustle. Practical Ways To Set the Tone for This Month Here are some simple, realistic practices that came up in the conversation: Decide your non negotiables A daily or weekly family moment to pray, read a verse, or use an Advent resource. A small rhythm that fits your actual life: after dinner, Saturday mornings, or before bed. Mark the "nothing" days on your calendar Literally block off blank days as taken. Protect margin so there is room for real conversations, unhurried play, and quiet with God. Saturate your environment with reminders of Jesus Scripture on the walls, art that points your eyes up, worship and Advent music playing in the background, an open Bible on the table. Let what you see, hear, and read pull your attention back to Him throughout the day. Practice quick repentance, not long self condemnation When you catch yourself spiraling, snapping, or worshiping your to do list, pause. Talk with Jesus first: Lord, I put this party, this list, or this image of myself on the throne. I am sorry. Please reorder my heart. Then talk with your people: Hey, I am sorry for how I just acted. That is not what I want this season to feel like for us. Can we reset and try again? Pay attention to embodied people, not just online life Online community is a gift, but the people under your roof and the ones who know your everyday life matter first. Ask God to help you see them, listen to them, and be fully present with them. Reflective Questions For You You might want to jot these down in a journal or talk them through with a friend or spouse: What is my real emotional temperature going into this month: anxious, hopeful, numb, overwhelmed? Where am I secretly hoping that a "perfect" Christmas will heal or fix something that actually needs long term tending with God? What are three things I can say no to this month so I can say a deeper yes to Jesus, my family, and rest? How can I build in daily "touch points" with God's Word that fit my real life, not my ideal life? Where do I need to humble myself, apologize, or reset the tone in my home? He saves a Christmas musical and discovers love, family, and friendship as the greatest holiday gifts. He reunites with his family and friends.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR THE SNOW MUST GO ONNovember 28, 2025 | Hallmark ChannelCAST & CREW OF THE SNOW MUST GO ONCorey Cott as Isaiah HeywardHeather Hemmens as Lilly-AnneBRAN'S THE SNOW MUST GO ON SYNOPSISThe movie starts with a Rudolph musical. It's safe to say this is off-Broadway. Actor Isaiah Heyward wrote, directed, and stars in the one-man show that no one cared about. He put his heart and soul into it, working on it for over a year. His sister, Jess, and her daughter, Aurora, show up to cheer him on and invite him home for Christmas. He says he has a big Broadway audition tomorrow, so he can't come.Isaiah shows up for the audition and sees a poster for a musical he was in long ago. Now, he can't even get in the room to audition before the casting director leaves for the day. To make matters worse, he gets fired from his caroling gig for showing up late. With nothing else going on, he heads home to Hancock. His sister picks him up and immediately guilt-trips Isaiah for not being around for Aurora, who is struggling to adjust to her parents' divorce. To make it up to her, he offers to pick her up from school — and naturally ends up taking over as director of the Christmas musical when the old director quits. The school guidance counselor, Lilly-Anne, gets roped into being the staff supervisor. But it turns out Isaiah doesn't just have to direct — he has to finish writing the show, which happens to be about reindeer. It doesn't take long for Lilly-Anne to open up to him about her past. Isaiah discovers that one of the kids in the theater program is the daughter of the woman cast in the musical he wanted to audition for. He hatches a plan: he's going to cast himself as the lead to impress her.Aurora hears about his plan and volunteers to help make his vision come to life.Lilly-Anne helps Isaiah learn how to work with kids, including helping one student, Steven, conquer his fear of singing in public and audition for the musical. There's a lot of confusion over why Isaiah cast himself as the lead, but Aurora convinces everyone they're lucky to learn from a Broadway legend. He starts spending more time with Lilly-Anne outside of rehearsals — holding hands while looking at Christmas lights, watching a movie together, and shopping for a bad Charlie Brown-style Christmas tree. After showing off his stage lighting setup, Isaiah and Lilly-Anne share a kiss — but he's conflicted because he hasn't told her the truth about why he's the lead.To help the kids feel comfortable performing in front of an audience, they go Christmas caroling. The more Isaiah cares about the kids, the wiser he feels — but it's time for the final dress rehearsal. He finds out a producer will be in the audience, so he goes out there and crushes it. The producer finds him backstage and invites him to the city on Christmas Eve to audition. Isaiah is thrilled — it's what he's been waiting for. Unfortunately, Lilly-Anne overhears, is upset, and demands he tell the kids the truth, or she will. It does not go well.He goes to the audition but can't focus, constantly thinking about letting the kids down. He tells the producer he has to return to Hancock to see the lead — the kids' performance — and pleads with her to come with him.She shows up just in time to give a pep talk, and Isaiah arrives behind her to apologize to everyone. The show is a smash hit. He tells Lilly-Anne this is his favorite standing ovation. He confesses that he has a new dream — one with her — and decides he doesn't want to go back to Broadway. The snow machine starts, they kiss, and he quips, “The snow must go on.” Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Christmas Day is meant for warmth, family, and celebration — but in 1929, it became the backdrop for one of the most chilling family tragedies in American history. After sharing a holiday meal, Charlie Lawson murdered his wife and children in an act so brutal and senseless that the community was left paralyzed with grief and disbelief. Shotguns, rifles, and blunt-force trauma marked the scene inside the Lawson home. Neighbors and law enforcement were stunned not only by the violence, but by the absence of any clear motive. Why would a husband and father destroy the very family he once appeared to protect? What darkness erupted inside Charlie Lawson that cold Christmas afternoon? Nearly a century later, the questions remain. Rumors, theories, and whispered explanations have circulated for generations — from personal demons to the possibility of something far more sinister influencing his final decisions. In this episode of The Grave Talks, we explore the tragic events of Christmas 1929, the lives lost, and the lingering mystery surrounding what compelled Charlie Lawson to unleash such horror. Some tragedies fade with time. This one never has. Some Christmas memories arrive wrapped in nostalgia. Others arrive wrapped in ache. Rachel Wojo shares a tender story of opening her parents’ old nativity set—one that carried decades of meaning. As she unwrapped each figurine, the gap between the serene scene in her hands and the messy reality of her life felt impossibly wide. Many of us feel that gap at Christmastime. The nativity scenes we display look peaceful:Mary is calm.Joseph confident. The shepherds composed.Baby Jesus is quiet and glowing. But the real manger wasn’t polished or picturesque: It smelled like livestock. It echoed with labor pains. It held a newborn King in a feeding trough. It was full of fear, sweat, uncertainty, and miracles wrapped in humble cloth. The beauty of the manger is not that it was perfect—it’s that God entered the imperfect. Luke tells us the shepherds’ announcement left people “amazed”—a word meaning wonderstruck, stunned, stopped in their tracks. Not because circumstances were ideal, but because God Himself had stepped into the world through the messy, the ordinary, and the unexpected. We often think God will meet us once our life feels more peaceful, more put-together, more “holiday ready.” But the manger whispers another truth: God does His most breathtaking work in the low places.God shows up in stables.Glory often comes wrapped in straw, fear, and the unplanned. If this season feels far from picture-perfect—if grief, transition, financial strain, illness, or loneliness shadow your December—remember this: The first Christmas was not perfect. But Emmanuel came anyway. And He still does. Bible Reading:“And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.” – Luke 2:18 (NIV) Takeaway Truths The real nativity scene was messy, imperfect, and full of holy wonder. God is present when life is not peaceful or predictable. The manger reminds us that Christ enters the world right into our mess. We rediscover wonder when we stop trying to make life perfect and start looking for God in what’s real. Let’s Pray Heavenly Father, Thank You for being the God who enters stables and brings glory into the lowest places. Thank You that You do not wait for perfection before You draw near. Forgive me for believing You need my life to be tidy before You can work in it. Help me rediscover the wonder of the manger—the miracle of Perfect Love entering an imperfect world. For everyone whose holiday season feels broken, empty, or nothing like the pictures, remind them that You are the God who specializes in the unexpected places. When I’m tempted to hide my mess, remind me that You came through one.Thank You that no situation is too humble, too painful, or too chaotic for You to enter with transforming love. In the name of Jesus, who still comes to us in the low places,Amen. Isaiah 7:13-14 and 9:6-7 Welcome to our very first Christmas episode of 2025! Whether you're a long-time listener or brand-new, we're so glad you're here. Today we begin Advent, a special four-week season where Christians prepare their hearts to celebrate Jesus' birth and look forward to His promised return. We'll explore what “Advent” means, why it's important, and how this season invites us to slow down, reflect, and wait with hope. We'll also hear an incredible true story from 1947—when a young shepherd boy discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls, some of the oldest copies of the Bible ever found. Among them was the Book of Isaiah, matching what we read today almost word for word. This amazing discovery reminds us that God's Word has been faithfully preserved for thousands of years and that we can trust His promises. Through Isaiah's ancient prophecies, we'll see how God foretold the coming of Jesus long before He was born—and how Advent helps us celebrate that promise fulfilled. Perfect For: Kids ages 4–12 Family listening Advent devotions Homeschool or classroom Bible time Sunday school preparation

When life doesn't go as planned, how do we keep trusting that God is still good?In this episode, Shelley Giglio is joined by Grammy-nominated artist Natalie Grant for a vulnerable look at surrender, trust, and identity. Natalie shares how walking through thyroid cancer, a diagnosis that threatened her voice, became a catalyst for her deeper faith, helped her root her identity in Jesus, and how she's learning to release control in motherhood and life. Whether you're walking through uncertainty or just need a reminder that God is near, this episode will encourage you to pause, remember His faithfulness, and rest in His presence. The Grove is an extension of all God is doing at Passion City Church in Atlanta, Georgia. During the Christmas season, joy can feel like something we *should* have, even while we struggle to stay afloat with everyday life plus the responsibilities of making magical memories for our children. But what if joy were so much more than a feeling—were instead an assurance of something weighty and eternal that can never be taken away? I wrote The Joyfulness Challenge to explore these exact themes, and we're chatting about both the particulars of the challenge and practical, daily ways we can choose joy, even when our circumstances don't seem like they warrant it on the show today.May this episode and this challenge be a blessing to you this Christmas season and beyond.Mentions:The Joyfulness Challenge The Gentleness ChallengeSponsor Info:Voetberg Music AcademyVoetberg Music Academy provides online, at home, shareable lessons so that your kids can pursue their musical passions without stress or hassle.Use Code: MISFORMAMA20 For 20% Off Of Each Month That You're Enrolled!King's Ridge ElderberriesKing's Ridge, works hard to grow and harvest high quality fresh frozen elderberries and elderberry products from their family to yours.
