It's like, my mom's last name growing up was Friesen, and like, she was super tall, so they would always go, how is the weather up there? Is it Friesen? Right, like, wow. I know kids are clever and cruel. Anyways, that's, I don't know why that popped in my head. Welcome to ADHD. So today is July 17th 2025 and it's National Tattoo Day. It was also another day, but obviously I have to pick this one, tattooing, the art of inserting pigment under the dermis layer of the skin. Brad Crowell 2:00 In case you didn't know. Lesley Logan 2:01 To create a decorative, symbolic or pictorial design or just a sticker on your body, permanent sticker on your body. Brad Crowell 2:01 Permanent sticker on your body. Lesley Logan 2:06 How I like to think of it. And on National Tattoo Day, July 17th, we set time aside to learn more about the tattooing process. It's a societal importance and history. Okay, here we go.Brad Crowell 2:17 I didn't know that. I'm in on societal importance. Lesley Logan 2:20 You guys, in case you don't understand the process of picking which day, it really is like what title speaks to us, and then we learn about the day as we read about it with you on air, and that someday could become problematic, but we'll edit it out then I guess you'll never know. So if you don't have a tattoo, you likely, or you're likely, to know someone who does. And if you've asked them how they knew at the time when they were getting inked whether they would still want that design on their skin years or decades later, you may have just gotten a peculiar look instead of an explanation. There is a certainly a fraternal connection between people who bear tattoos, a connection that those without ink can never really understand. We asked one correspondent to try address this phenomenon. He said, tattoos began as a ceremony, and they're still kind of like that. Once you're in an artist's needle, it's like a little it's a little like a religious experience. It's like the aha moment people talk about having in a business life. It illuminates something you didn't see before. I don't understand any of that. That doesn't resonate with me in any. Brad Crowell 3:15 Yeah, me neither. Lesley Logan 3:16 So first of all, I overthought my first tattoo, way too much. Brad Crowell 3:20 I mean, took me 15 years to get my first tattoo, because of the same thing. Lesley Logan 3:25 15 years from when you're 18 or like?Brad Crowell 3:29 Yeah, yeah, I didn't get one. So I guess that's not true. I wanted to get a tattoo in my teens. My parents said no, but I started designing it in my teens. Lesley Logan 3:38 Okay, okay. Brad Crowell 3:39 And then I didn't actually get one until 30 years old.Lesley Logan 3:45 Yeah, I got my first one on a blind date.Brad Crowell 3:48 You got one on a blind date? Lesley Logan 3:50 Yeah, we wanted something to do. Brad Crowell 3:52 Wow. Lesley Logan 3:53 I know. Brad Crowell 3:53 This is the first time I'm hearing this story, y'all. Do tell. Lesley Logan 3:57 Anyways. Brad Crowell 3:58 How'd that go? Lesley Logan 3:59 I never saw that person again. And I covered up that tattoo after I left my ex with the cherry blossoms that we then added on to, and then I just got others. Because once you get the first one, you kind of start to just get other ones and.Brad Crowell 4:21 Well, the hurdle has been left, you know, like, you're, you're, there's this weird mental block of like, I don't know if I want to keep that thing on my body forever. And then after, after you get your first one, you realize no one actually gives a shit. And then also you're like yeah, you know.Lesley Logan 4:38 We speaking on podcast or proponents for tattoos? Brad Crowell 4:39 Yeah, I'm not. I'm not that worried about it either. Because here's the other thing, you can also change the tattoo or you can cover the tattoo or you can remove the tattoo.Lesley Logan 4:50 Or you can remove it. Keith Davidson removed all of his tattoos. He is a complete blank slate. Google it right now. Brad Crowell 4:55 No way. Lesley Logan 4:56 Google it right now, because I thought for sure, it's AI and people were saying it's AI, and he has done actual interviews about it, and he there's no way it's makeup. He has, he spent $200,000 getting them all removed. And I thought that's all it costs to cover remove his entire body. Brad Crowell 5:12 I mean, he had a he had. Lesley Logan 5:13 His whole head to toe, like he was so covered. So anyways, our neighbor is shout out to Brieanna, Viva Vanish skincare, she actually removes tattoos. So like, to me, you could just remove it, right? Or you could cover it up, but you, you, you do overthink the first ones, and then you kind of just get them, and they just become part of you. Also, I've gotten, like, my dream catcher, my dream catcher tattoo. It is really funny. When I got it. Remember this, Brad, I got the dream catcher tattoo. It takes up my whole fucking arm. We came back from Cambodia.Brad Crowell 5:48 Upper arm, shoulder down to elbow. Lesley Logan 5:49 Yeah, shoulder to my elbow. We come back from Cambodia and, like, literally, no one notices. Like, no one notices. And I'm starting to think that like it, people don't like it, you know, and all this stuff. And so I'm, like, starting to make this through my head, and then someone who I've never met in person, they only know me through social media. I was at an event, and they're like, oh my god, is that a new tattoo? And I said, it is. Thank you. I just got it, I just got it right. And other people are like, that's new. And I'm like, yeah, there are people who, like, have known me for years, and I'm like, they're like, well, you're just, like, a person with tattoos. You just have tattoos. So anyways, all I had to say is, you know, I saw a reel or a meme. It was just like, tattoos are just stickers for adults. And, like, we like pretty things.Brad Crowell 6:32 I'm in on that. And I was looking up the Pete Davidson thing still, and I found something really interesting. He did an interview with Variety, why he decided to remove all of his tattoos, and apparently he's not removed every single one, but he's removed the majority. He said, on deciding to remove his tattoos, I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person, and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up, and I didn't. And I don't think there's anything wrong with tattoos, but mine, when I look at them, I remember a sad person that was very unsure, so just removing them and starting fresh, because that's what I think works best for me with my brain. When I look at them in the mirror, I don't want the reminder of, oh yeah, you were a fucking drug addict. Like, that's why you have a Sponge Bob smoking a joint on your back. So good for him. Lesley Logan 7:18 Oh, I love that. But see, that's the thing. You can just remove it. So, you know.Brad Crowell 7:22 I mean, it's a process, but it can be removed. It's money and time, yeah. Lesley Logan 7:26 You know what? There's a lot of things you could spend your money on. I, don't get something you don't want. But also like. You. Brad Crowell 7:33 I like, I mean there's definitely sentimentality around the tattoos that that I have, have put thought into them. It hasn't been just like, on a whim, but also, too, the more like, as you get after you get your first one, the second one, the decision to get it was, like, much faster than the first one. Lesley Logan 7:52 Well, I also just want to say, like, you don't have to get them, and it's also fine if you get them and don't over, like, don't overthink it so much because it, because you kind of make it perfect and, like, you're trying to get all perfect. And it's, it's, like, it's, there's no judgment either way, like, you're gonna, life will go on. Brad Crowell 8:10 Well, we are very big proponents of ink and tattoos. We think they're really fun and cool. Lesley Logan 8:15 If it's part of your personality, like, and also, like, I don't, I don't think I remember my parents saying, you like, oh, you're gonna be so judged. You'll never get a job, like, that has never happened to me one time, and I have tattoos all over my hands and like, no one notices. Brad Crowell 8:17 Yeah, yeah. Lesley Logan 8:17 You know. So most of them are for me anyways, because when I have to look at myself in the mirror all the time, and I have to, like, look at what I do, like, or on a camera live all the time, and I'm like, I just want something to look at that's not just my family. Just my face. Like, I'm so tired of looking at my own face, I would like to see something else. So that was really a lot of it for me. Anyways. Brad Crowell 8:50 Anyways. I'm in the southeast. So does it, so it does get hot in the summer southeast, probably like Georgia or Florida? I think I'd be more worried about the humidity. Lesley Logan 13:46 Good job, Brad, good job. Brad Crowell 13:48 Unless you've got a Contrology Reformer, which won't, you don't have to worry about the humidity as much. Yeah, there's no wood that's going to warp, right? Lesley Logan 13:55 Correct, because that's the thing. So, so the thing so one, I don't know which Reformer you're looking at that makes a difference. Two, so if you get a Balanced Body Reformer, that's wood, like a studio reformer, you have to worry about humidity for the wood. However, their springs have a coating on them, so you don't have to worry about the springs resting, whereas the Contrology, it's aluminum. And so you don't know. Lesley Logan 14:21 Or an Allegro 2. Lesley Logan 14:22 Yeah, yeah, yeah, you could do that. Brad Crowell 14:22 Allegro 2 is also aluminum. Lesley Logan 14:22 Yeah, so, uh, is it aluminum? I thought it's fiberglass. Doesn't even rust, but the springs, well, you have to clean the springs, right? So. Brad Crowell 15:12 That's right. Yeah. I forgot about that. That's great. It's exactly the same, like, environment with humidity.Lesley Logan 15:18 I so I worry more about humidity anywhere. And then when it comes to, just, like, the hotness, I mean, obviously it's gonna pin like, are you gonna want to lay on a hot Reformer bed? Because it's gonna like, like, it's like, sitting on your car when the car's hot.Brad Crowell 15:34 Well, here's the thing, you can actually regulate the temperature inside your garage. Lesley Logan 15:37 Yeah, if you can, yeah, then I would do that. Brad Crowell 15:39 In Cambodia, we have these wall units for, like, air air conditioning. Lesley Logan 15:44 Yeah, I love this idea. We're helping you out, Brenda, so get a wall unit, and then I probably. Brad Crowell 15:49 Yeah, they're called a they're called, there's a specific term for them. What are they called? They're not a window unit. They're a wall unit. Oh, they call it a split, mini split. Lesley Logan 16:03 A mini split. Brad Crowell 16:03 Mini split. So that way, what it does is it actually takes the big air conditioning part of it that, like, you know, is loud and noisy, and it actually is outside, yeah, but then the inside is just a little wall.Lesley Logan 16:15 They're amazing. They're so quiet. The other thing I would just say is, like, I've never experienced this thing. I've never had to purchase one in my life. But a dehumidifier is something you can also purchase. I saw one in Brad's uncle's basement. I was like, what is this thing? He said, a dehumidifier. I'm like, I only know about humidifiers. Clearly, that's where I've lived in the world. So you can have a dehumidifier, and then that would make your equipment last a long time as well. Brad Crowell 16:39 That's true. Lesley Logan 16:40 Just something to note that, like Naugahyde and your leather straps, you know, those things can be affected by the weather. Let's talk about Wendee Close. Wendee is the founder and CEO of Goals2Life, a personal development platform designed to help individuals create and achieve meaningful goals through detailed planning and execution. It's quite a comprehensive platform. It's actually kind of amazing. After 27 years in the B2C industry, she pivoted into the tech world to build a purpose driven SaaS platform aimed at transforming how people bring their aspirations to life. SaaS stands for software as a service. So the like a SaaS platform would be like Gmail or Google Calendar. That's a SaaS platform. In this case, she's making a tool that is software that'll help you bring your aspirations to life for real, known for her resourcefulness and her get it done attitude, Wendee now helps ground people break through burnout and overwhelm by aligning their goals with their values. And I think for her, that was, like, legit, because she was like, doing she and her husband had started a business that could she do it? Yes. Was she really good at it? Yes. Did it light her fire? No. Should she have been doing it? No, right. But she did it for decades, right? And after all that time, and they really did well, she still was like, I kind of don't like what I'm doing, yeah. And so that's what caused the shift to start this platform, you know, effectively starting a second career after her kids have flown the coop. She they're empty nesters now. So, you know, she's, she's definitely tackling a huge project. Lesley Logan 19:30 Bird launcher. Brad Crowell 19:30 She's a bird launcher. Lesley Logan 19:32 Yeah, I like, I know I said on the podcast, if not, I said her face. I am, like, immensely impressed that she has taken on this project because, like, it's so, like, I had no idea what starting OPC like, how much effort it is to have a platform like OPC. Like it is the amount of work we have to do on a daily basis for OPC is the amount of people who work on that site to keep everything. So like, when she was, when she talks, she's like, oh my God, that is the biggest project in the world. Like, I was just like, sitting there, from the experience of it, and she doesn't even see it as difficult. I mean, like, of course there's difficult times, there's hard days, but she always is like, excited for the challenge. And like, she takes it in, and then she figures out who she has to talk to to make it happen. And so anyways, one thing she said that I love, and I think it is why she can do what she's doing and take on this mountain of an amazing business, is when the vision is clear, you become it. So she is like, even though the project is still being built out and it works. She has tons of clients and tons of customers and tons of companies that work with it, but it was something that she's continuing to build and perfect and do. She isn't waiting for it to be ready to go out there and talk about it. She's talking about it because she's it.Brad Crowell 20:54 She's been talking about it, I mean, you know, before it was even ready to go. She understood what she was building, who it was going to help, and was out there sharing it with the world.Lesley Logan 21:04 I mean, if you haven't listened the episode, you have to, because it's truly a Be It Till You See It like it is, she is not waiting for the project to be ready for someone to deem the project ready for anything like that. She's like, I'm going to go out there, I'm going to talk about it and the questions I get and the things people need are going to help me make it even better. And that's what we are always trying to tell people to do inside of Agency as well. She said, when you believe in what you're doing, it becomes, it becomes easy to show up and say, this is who I am and this is what I'm doing. The vision is so strong, you live it. And I think, like, a lot of us, are sitting in the place where she was before in that B2C thing. Maybe you're not B2C but, like, was she good at it? Yes. Can she do it? Yes. It didn't light her up. And so I think a lot of people are struggling with, like, preaching, preaching out loud and and boasting about the thing they're doing because it's not the thing they really want to be doing. So they're not as excited. She is so excited about this. Every time I talk to her, I'm like, excited about what I do. Like, somehow, like, it reminds me this is why I do what I do.Brad Crowell 22:06 She lights everybody on fire. You know, I bet you, too, that all the things that she learned with her first business on, she managed a team. She, you know, worked with clients. She, you know, understood how to do every aspect of that business. There's like a direct translation for what she's doing now, even though it's a different project and a different product and a different goal, the skills she learned from the first one are absolutely setting her up to excel at this in What? What? So much faster, so much faster.Lesley Logan 22:42 Well, and also, like, every single even if the thing you want to do is something you were never trained to do, every skill that you've acquired along your journey is transferable. It's all. Brad Crowell 22:51 Story of my life. Lesley Logan 22:52 Yeah, it's really all so transferable. And there, most of the jobs that I well, the job that I currently have, there's, like, not like a degree in it. So, yeah, like, I think, like, we're all like, where's the checklist to go check? There isn't one. So get your vision clear and then talk about it. Don't be afraid to talk about it, because, just because people question it or and they might not be as excited as you, their questions help you deliver what you do better. You know? When we first started about OPC versus how we talk about it now, very different based on the questions we got from the way we talk about it, you know, like, so.Brad Crowell 23:28 Class starts at six. I think we even said that. I'm sure it was, like, new class on Tuesday. I really loved when she was talking about clarity and resourcefulness and her reminder about it, specifically around asking for help, right? She has no qualms to reach out to people and ask for help. She is very excited about what it is that she's doing, and because she knows what she's building, it gives her enthusiasm, right, and courage. And then when she goes and she asks someone for help, even if they say no, it doesn't matter. It doesn't deflate her enthusiasm. But because she has that, she can ask for help in a way that is compelling people actually want to help her. She said, every single day, I'm like, I don't know how to do the thing that I'm gonna do today. But what do I want to do? I want to impact lives. So she has a bigger goal. Like, for example, the conversation you were having was about going live on Instagram. She's like, I'm not a techie, you know, social media user, but I'm willing to learn this thing, even if I fail at it, if I fall flat on my face. Because if I can go live with someone today, and it's got to further my actual goal, which is impacting people's lives. And she said she just, she encourages everyone to just be, learn to be as resourceful as you can. Right? And she said, if you're honest and transparent about where you are and what you're trying to do, others will help you do it.Lesley Logan 25:03 Yeah, they will. They because they get excited. Because you're excited. People want to be part of the party. People want to be part of, that is how, for better or worse, people get involved in organizations like you know, they want it. I read the book Careless, careless people about Facebook and, oh, guys, it's a book worth, and if I could get her on, I would, but she's not doing any touring right now, but it's she talks about why she got involved with Facebook and why she was pushing for it to be around the world, because she want, she want to be part of the vision of connecting people, yeah, and helping people have all these and I know that's like the worst example, but also like getting so excited about your thing that people get excited to be part of your life, because they'll want to connect with the right people too, whether or not they can help you, like, Oh, I know, so and so. And then they're so excited about what you're doing when they talk about this to their friend, there's a trust transference, and all of a sudden you have the connections you need, you know. So no one gets to get their goals all done by themselves. It just doesn't happen that way. You want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.Brad Crowell 26:10 Well, yes, very enthusiastically delivered there. Oh, you mean that old thing. Okay, dad. That's hilarious. All right, well, if you are looking for some, Be It Action Items, stick around, because we're going to dig into those when we come back. Brad Crowell 26:33 Okay, finally, let's dig into those Be It Action Items that we had with our conversation with Wendee Close. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo? I'm gonna go first, because she actually went down all four like, right away, which is pretty awesome.Lesley Logan 26:53 Whenever anyone does that, I'm like, oh, you took the assignment to the next level.Brad Crowell 26:58 She did. She did. She said, hey, here's what's bold, own your next level identity, right? She encourages you to ask, what would my future self do right now, today, in this instance, and then take that action from your future you, right? And she said, that's super bold, you know, like, know where you're going, know what you're trying to do, and then you know, if you're faced with a tough decision, would you, would you choose yourself make decision A or decision B, right? And then she said, executable, take small intentional steps every single day, small intentional steps, right? Breaking down big goals into micro movements. And then ask, what's one step that I can take today, right now, and then go do that step. In fact, that's like half of what Goals2Life is is literally the execution element of it, because what they help you do is map out your goals and then figure out how to do them, actually, how to bring them to life, right? Lesley Logan 27:56 Yeah. You just, that's where the name came from. Brad Crowell 28:00 Goals2Life. That's where the name came from. Intrinsic. Align your goals with your purpose. Align your goals with purpose. She said, What? Ask yourself, why does this even matter to me? Like, if you have a goal of, let's say, doing a 5k race, you know. Why does this matter to you? Why you know do the seven layers of why you know, what is it that you're actually trying to do here? And then, when your goals are tied to your values, your commitment will deepen. So you need to understand what your values are. And then we need to find goals that are going to tie it all together. So, intrinsic. Align your goals with your purpose, targeted, set clear, measurable milestones, replace vague hopes with tangible outcomes. Ask yourself, how will I measure the progress? We would suggest deadlines. Deadlines actually give yourself by this time I will do this thing, you know, or by this time I will, I will have this finished or this piece, piece of it accomplished. Because then it gives you targets. Lesley Logan 29:06 I just talked to Agency members about this. I said, if with, like, you know, we're halfway through the year, right? And it's like, if you reflect on your goals, you wanted to have done this year, what you want to have done by now, and you're like, oh my God, I didn't hit the name. It's like, well, it's, don't beat yourself up, it's ask yourself very clearly, like, why haven't I done this? What has been in the way? Is this actually something I still want to do? Can I actually do it and then set new measurable goals, set new milestones and make it happen? You know? So I believe in those I love a deadline. Brad Crowell 29:35 Love a deadline. Yeah. What about you?Lesley Logan 29:37 Okay, so she said, and this goes back to what I was just saying, so I'll just translate. If something's a priority, if it's a goal, it needs to be on your calendar. And that's where a lot of people make mistakes. They're like, Oh, I'm gonna do this thing, but they don't even set aside time, like in my calendar. If you look at my calendar, it'll say, write this thing, do this thing, call this person. It is in my calendar. So there's not like, Oh, here's my three things I wanna get done today. And. I have a wide open day. No, every single work day is like it's full because I have now, of course, I can move things, if something comes up or whatever, but then it gets moved because if it's in your calendar, you'll reschedule it. So that's what's really important. She said, if it's not in your calendar, it's not a priority. And she didn't mention time blocking. I'm big fan of time blocking. I actually talk a lot about how we teach Agency members how to time block so that they actually move the needle forward in their business. She also said this is really important. She said she was talking about her burnout. She said no amount of movement, water, nutrition or meditation can make up for the lack of sleep, so sleep should be right there at the very top. And I think that is the most important thing. It's something I always talk about. When you come on a retreat to Cambodia, we actually like put your dream schedule together, and the first thing you actually put in there is when do you go to bed, and when do you wake up? It's your dream schedule. It's not your current sleep schedule. It's like what you desire to have as a sleep schedule. And it's the most one of the most important things to do is work towards that, because you cannot, like, biohack your way out of sleep you didn't get. Maybe one day, maybe two days, but you can't do it 365 days. Not gonna happen.Brad Crowell 31:16 Wendee and I definitely connected on that, because both of us just didn't leave ourselves sleep time or permission to sleep. And so, you know, definitely impacted me through college for sure, you know. And even today, you know, it's still a decision to make sure that that is a priority, But yeah, I love it. I mean, you know, Wendee is one of the most magnetic people that you'll ever met. Like when she walks into a room, you know it, whether she meant you to know it or not, you know it. And her enthusiasm for and her vision for her business, for Goals2Life, is contagious. And, you know, I think the product is, it's really amazing, and helping people actually move forward, instead of feeling stuck. And, you know, I'm excited, so y'all should go check it out. So we are here today to chat with you guys we are so excited I've got Dana here and I have just like shocked her with reality today that I actually I want to hear about one of her incredible offices that she's been working with. Dana (01:54) No, no, ⁓ no, I get asked about what we're going to talk about today The Dental A Team (01:58) Yeah, I was like, as I'm sitting here like asking a whole slew of people for suggestions, I'm like, hey, I've got a handful of people out there that aren't even suggesting. So I need to be, I need to be more open about that. But today, I'm really excited to hear about this. Dana has been working her tail off with all of her practices. She works really, really hard. Dana, you are the grit to the fullest in so many ways and solution oriented. For those of you who don't know, those are two of our seven core values. And honestly, you embody all of them. But today is really about grit, solution-oriented, passion for excellence, and results-focused. These are some of the key pieces of what I think you did really, really well, with these results that this client has exceeded. And I'm just excited to hear about them. I threw Dana for a loop today, reminding her that today is her practice I wanted to hear about and that I'm gonna let her kind of take the floor for for a lot of today I have a lot of questions to ask and and kind of chime in but Dina I really just am so excited to hear about them, but Really, how are you doing? And how are how are your clients doing overall? Like how are you doing in the world of consulting? We're about halfway through the year now, which is well a little over I guess which is wild to me It's crazy that 2025 is almost gone, but how are you doing over there and how are your clients doing? Dana (03:24) I'm doing pretty good. Thanks for asking. feel like 2025 has been like a wild year, a little bit different for some practices, but I feel like they're all digging in. Everybody is willing to like do the things, work really hard, talk to their team, build in leadership. I'm super proud of my clients and their perseverance throughout this year and their ability to just kind of like pivot and push where is needed. And I think a lot of that is getting clients to look a little bit more at their numbers, to look a little bit more at what they tell them. I think it's really made a huge difference for a lot of practices this year. And so I'm just, yeah, always super proud of my clients. They're just really blessed to be able to be a part of their lives, a part of their practice and their journeys. The Dental A Team (04:06) Yeah, I agree. think coming off of December of 2024 was a wild ride for a lot of practices, November and December rolling into January. And I feel like it's just been this kind of like ebbs and flows, ups and downs, the whole, you know, almost seven months now for a lot of practices. But I know on our, on our doctor only mastermind for our clients, our internal, you know, clients are non-shared when Last night, there were just so many questions around that as well. And I remember somebody asked like, it normal to have had bad months? And is everybody experiencing last month, bad months or last couple? And I remember a couple of the consultants were like, well, actually, like, haven't really seen that the last couple of months. But when I sat back and I thought about it, I'm like, it has ebbed and flow, you know, flowed quite a bit for practices in general. But I think what we're starting to see is that I'll use the word again, the grit. that a lot of our clients really persevered through January through March. They started reaping those benefits April to current. And so when the question was asked, was a newer client of ours who had asked like, this, are you guys seeing this across the country? really, most of us consultants were like, no, actually not really. We're seeing some of the highest months we've ever seen in our clients. But I think that had something to do with it was really that they had the accountability. of their systems and of their numbers. Like you said, we really dug in deep and forced our clients to really truly learn their numbers better than we ever have this year. And really always looking back at them and always applying the information to the next steps. And I think it made a massive difference within our client base because I think overall we've seen a massive increase from end of year last year to mid year so far this year. Dana (05:56) Yeah, yeah, I agree. And I feel like even clients who maybe they escaped the like November, December, January, then they had like the February, March, right. And but I do feel like April, it's like everybody kind of really dug in and kind of climbed out of that little bit of that. The Dental A Team (06:05) Totally. Dana (06:14) dip that we had there for the beginning of the year or the end of last year. And so yeah, I am just really, it was interesting to hear on the doctor mastermind and just that like clients really did dig in and they've had so much grit because there was a little bit of a rocky end of start of 2024, 25. The Dental A Team (06:30) Yeah, yeah, I totally agree. I totally agree. ⁓ I love it. And I have so much fun on those meetings and hearing all the doctors and I think we had Moola on recently and we get to have, you know, just so many really cool things for them. So it was just awesome. That was something though that kind of reminded me of what you're going to talk about today with your client. And I wanted you guys to... not just here, like we're not just here to brag, like, of course, I want to brag on our clients and how great they're doing and what they're able to accomplish with the tools that they're given, but also to talk about the tools that they're given. So Dana, like really take us through, I want to hear how this practice is doing. What are their accomplishments? What are their, you know, increases in revenue and everything? then on the flip side of that, really, what did they dig in and implement really well this year that has gotten gotten them there these these changes and actually might not even be just this year like you've been working with this specific client for a little bit now so let me all the things I want to hear about it I'm excited Dana (07:30) Yeah. Yeah, this plan is really near and dear to my heart because they were one of my very first solo clients. And so it's just been fun over the years to really see them dig in grit like no other. I know on their end, it hasn't always been easy. We've had to some tough conversations. We've had to look at some tough numbers. We've had to set some really tight budgets that maybe they didn't love, but they did it and have just been massively successful ⁓ because of it. ⁓ And so I am just really, really proud of them. They've brought in a ton of leadership, a lot of team accountability. so, you know, starting out as just kind of a baby practice really with not a ton of systems. ⁓ So first year we spent heavy, heavy building systems, really getting them to talk as a team, to work as a team, to be accountable to each other. You know, so things like morning huddles and actually setting goals that they actually talked about and starting to look at numbers. And I remember know that first conversation of like, I can't really talk about numbers, right? That's just profit. They look at that as like take home and like, now to the point of where like, not necessarily obsess over numbers, but a little bit right there, the tracking tons of things and even department metrics and the team is really involved in setting goals and setting quarterly focuses and she's, you know, brought in an office manager and just grown even the leadership in the practice we're talking about here soon. ⁓ building more of a leadership team. And so it's just really, really cool to see someone come in and evolve from systems to just like massive growth ⁓ and a lot of change. And so, yeah, we focus on systems very heavily. Then we started to focus on leadership. Then we started to focus on growth. So we've got, you know, went from a part-time associate to now a full-time associate to now like ⁓ a buying of a space. The Dental A Team (09:13) Yeah. Dana (09:31) And a build out. it's just been really, really fun to see that when we focus in on the things that are really important, that like the push and the magic that happens from it. ⁓ And so this has just been a practice. It's just been so fun to be a part of. ⁓ And we've had to do a lot of, because of the amount of growth that they came in wanting, right? We always talk about vision with clients and like, do you want to be three years and where do you want to be five years from The Dental A Team (09:33) Mm-hmm. Dana (10:01) now so like hearing that hey I want to be an owner of a building and I want to pretty much double the size of my practice in that time frame and and I also want to do a little bit less dentistry that takes a lot of intentional movement, a lot of projections, a lot of even, you know, I know we've even talked about where you want to go knowing when you have to hire people and when you have to bring people on and when is the right time to add an associate. And then on the flip side of that, like, how do we keep expenses in line so that we can make this dream happen? How do we keep expenses so that we've got the profit to be able to expand and to be able to purchase a property? And sometimes those conversations are uncomfortable, right? Because like we want all the this is this is a doctor who really appreciates team whose love language a little bit is like giving and showing appreciation and you know having to like home that in and be like hey I want you to celebrate your team when they go above and beyond and they crush these milestones we can't do that just for doing jobs though because again remember this vision right we want this we want this building we want this expanded team we want to be able to like be a part of more people's lives in the community so it's just been so fun but I will say the biggest thing that like having to push on my end especially is just the intentionality that like the things that we put into place are to truly get them to where they ultimately want to be and and I feel like sometimes that's why we're brought in is because like they know what the vision is they know where they want to be but like they have no idea the path The Dental A Team (11:25) Yeah. Dana (11:43) to get them there. And so this has just been like a uniquely fun ⁓ client to be a part of. The Dental A Team (11:50) That's awesome. So it's been about, I want to say like two years, little two years ish, or is it three now? my gosh, I'm a year behind you guys, it's fine. Time evades me, so three years. So when this specific client came on, I'm just gonna summarize a little bit. So it sounds like this client came on and they had one and a half doctors including themselves. They probably had what, three hygiene? Dana (11:57) It's three going on four. At the time it was just her, single doctor. Just her, single doctor, two hygiene, you know, two assistants, one front office. Yeah. The Dental A Team (12:17) Trust her. Single doctor. Perfect. So we have a very small team ⁓ from the outside looking in and a vision of owning their own building, ⁓ like literally the building. And what would you say their yearly production collections was? Probably right under a million. Dana (12:39) At the time around, I'd say between $7,5800. The Dental A Team (12:43) Yeah, 7, 5800. So you guys, you can imagine owning a building on that, right, that's a stretch that's going to take a little bit of time. then fast forward, you know, now three years going on board, we've got a full-time associate in place. And how many hygienists? Four hygienists. Two dentists would mean at least probably four assistants, if not five. Dana (13:00) There's four. The Dental A Team (13:08) Four assistants, so three, four front office, probably including an office manager. So we've more than doubled, right? Or right at doubled our entire team, which means also, right? That we've doubled cost. So I think, Dana, what you did really, really well is that you were able to take from the beginning this client's initial goals. She said, this is my dream. And you said, How are we gonna get there? So what you've been able to do with her is really take the financial aspect of this client and say, okay, this is where we're at, but this is what we need. And so everyone listening, something that I really want you to understand is that when you have a goal in mind, right, I talk about vision boards a lot and I talk about vision boards because I think that they're really cool. If you don't know what a vision board is, dang it, you're too young, go Google it, it's fine. If you're a millennial, you know what a vision board is, go get your magazines. But I always say like, we do these vision boards and we're like, you know, we're gonna put an airplane on there and a picture of Mickey Mouse and I'm gonna take my kid to Disneyland. And we just put it on there and we put it on the wall and eventually we forget about it and we stop doing it and we get to the end of the year and we're like, shoot, I never got to Disneyland, right? But what we could do is say, I'm gonna go to Disneyland. And then we say, okay, well, what is it going to entail to get to Disneyland? Right? I live in Arizona. We're both in Arizona here. I can drive to Disneyland for sure. Right. So what's the gas going to be? ⁓ it's about seven hours for me. It's probably far more for Dana. So we're probably going to fly. I'm not, I'm not trying to make that drive, right? I can, but I'd rather fly. So what are the flights going to cost for how many people? What's a car when I get there? What's a hotel going to cost? What does Disney access cost? Because that's a feat in itself, right? And then how are we going to eat, right? We got souvenirs. We've got food in Disney. We've got dinners, okay? So with that, can price it all out. And it's so much easier, I think, for us to visualize doing this in our personal lives, because it's like, well, why would you ever say, like, we're going to Disneyland on July 17, but you have no idea how much it's going to cost. Believe me, I've done it before. You'll make it if you have credit card, Dana can talk to you about how to get out of credit card debt. ⁓ But you can do it, but it would be crazy, right? It's dumb. So you're going to project and you're going to say, this is how much money I need to have in my travel fund in order to get my family to Disneyland. These are the dates I need to have it by because I can't buy tickets the day before, right? Flights. You can't buy Disney tickets the day before anymore because you got to block the date out. So you've got to have all of this projected with a buy-win date. So if you're trying to get to Disneyland, you're going to price point it all out, and then you're going to work backwards. You're going to say, when do I have to have all of these things done? By what date do I have to have how much money? Then you're going to set those mile markers. So with clients, this is the same thing that we do with your goals, and it's the same thing Dana did for this specific practice. This practice owner said, I want to own the building, I want to have this size of a practice. want to, I know I've had multiple clients say, I want to make this much money. I know I had a client who was in similar size situation when they first started and the biggest goal was to make a million dollars. I said, great, well we're at 550 now, let's see. He's like, my five year goal is to make a million dollars. Well guess what, we did it in three. Because we. we projected it. And so what you've been able to do with this client is really project out. think the most fun piece, and I've done this with clients too, so I know, tell me if you think there's more fun. I always felt like the most fun part of it was being able to see what, if we got to this level of financial growth. So if we got to this level of production and collections and this close to ⁓ practice ownership, like building ownership, This is how many people you're gonna need to support that dollar amount. So when you look at production, you say, okay, well, how much can one doctor support in production? How many team members does it take to support that doctor, to support the production, and then ramp it from there? So then it doesn't become such a pie in the sky dream of a number, it becomes a reality. And then you can say, okay, well, just like I said, Disneyland, it's a buy win date. Right? So by this date, we need to have an associate hired because we need at least 90 days onboarding with an associate before they're really going to be producing anything, really. So if we need that associate to stay on track, we need that associate producing $90,000 by December. We've got to have someone in place by June at the latest. Right? So we've got to start looking for an associate. probably February to give ourselves a really good lead time. And Dana, I think that's something that you've done really well for all of your clients, but for specifically this one we're talking about today, I think you did really well at projecting out the team member aspect of it too, and the hiring process so that that doctor could be prepared for the size that they were gonna have, and then applying that there to the financials. So you broke down for them great. This is what the team cost will likely look like. This is your BAM, your bare ACE minimum is how we like to say it. And this is what has to happen in order for all of this to work. And then Dana, you said they had grit, they did it. And now one of the things that I picked out from your statement that I think everyone should walk away with is that you said you guys together, number one together, you got them looking at their numbers. That is the first step. Personally, Professionally, the first step in making anything work when it comes to finances is actually looking at them. So congratulations and kudos on that. Second thing that I picked up was that together you guys created budgets and they stuck to them. They actually did them. And it doesn't mean they had to eat top ramen or get off brand flowable. It was like, these are your budgets and we're going to stick into it. And the best part about a budget, Dana, in my opinion for dental practices is like, No, you don't have to buy the cheap flowable. But if your production and collections aren't supporting what you're buying, that's the issue. So most of the time, your supply should reflect, right? Your order should reflect the supply need. Yeah. So tell me quickly just a little bit about that. Was there a spot where you were like, no, you gotta buy the ramen? Dana (19:55) The kind of dentistry The Dental A Team (20:08) No, you got to get back on budget. You've got to stick to this. How did you hold them accountable? Dana (20:13) God. They did really well I think of I will say you know they have a fantastic office manager who was on board and wanting to know more about that side and wanting to know more about the budgeting side and the expense side so I will say they did really great at setting their budgets every month looking at it and sticking to it I think the piece that maybe we struggled with a little bit that eventually they saw like wow it's super important to do that is to just look at the expenses month over month ⁓ I think they were great about setting the budgets great about sticking to them It just took a little bit more time and know we've got to pull those P &Ls we've got to pull those expense reports every single month and we really have to look at it and Getting them really to narrow down I think the the key or like the green light that went on was getting them to come up with this is truly our fixed costs for every single month and so when it got to the point where When you look at it and it's outside of that we've got to dig in and we've got to figure out what's happening or where money is going because it's outside of what the norm is. so digging in and getting that piece in place, I think really comfortable about talking about practice numbers. The other side of it was a little bit more uncomfortable. And that's okay. You know, but I think they saw the importance of also connecting those dots and being able to share with the office manager and share with the team some of that because that was a little bit more uncomfortable. And so just super proud that they were able to step outside. of that comfort level because so much of the time doctors want to hold those numbers close to their vests and it's okay to hold part of those numbers close to you where the pieces that you really don't or are super uncomfortable sharing. Again, if we want team buy-in, if we want our office manager to be able to help with these things and to really stick to budgets, they've got to understand those numbers too. The Dental A Team (22:03) Yeah, yeah, that was beautiful. I would say for any doctors who are out there listening today, whether this exact story replicates what your goal is, or if you are able to see semblances of it in your own story, like take some of that away. And if you've got a goal, I don't care what it is, we apply the same standards to every goal. personal and professional, like apply the same standards, make sure it's a smart goal. And Project it out. So I always look and Dana, I think we all did. It's like we look at the end goal and then we literally just work backwards. So find your goal. The emotional space of we're here for patient care, fantastic. But how do I know black and white measurements that I have accomplished that? That is a very different feeling than just emotionally satisfying myself every day because that usually is going to go the negative. You're going to find everything wrong you've done. So soapbox. So go learn your numbers you guys if you haven't I want you to listen to this again Listen to everything Dana is saying Dana. You did awesome this this practice you guys Numbers wise Dana just to give them an idea. We said that they were you know 750 or so when they started They have doubled in size including their doctor. Where are they projecting this year? Dana (23:54) they should hit 2.4 this year. The Dental A Team (23:56) 2.4 you guys that's massive 2.4 so within the last three years Dana has worked with this client and they have gone from just under a million to 2.4 by doubling in size so yes their employee costs went up yes there's a there's a cost for the owner doctor to have an associate so there is there is a period of time where you will make less and you will be pouring into your team build but on the other side of it, has more than doubled ⁓ or this client has more than doubled and not only size but in income as well. So kudos Dana, kudos to your client, kudos to all of Dana's clients and our clients and I know you guys all work really, really hard. So go look at your numbers and if you take nothing away from today, please take away from Dana the idea of really getting comfortable at least talking to your office manager about this if you don't have an office manager. Maybe it's your spouse, maybe it's your consultant, someone that you can really truly get honest with about it. So Dana, congratulations. already done what they're trying to do a mentor isn't just someone who gives you answers it's someone who shortens your learning curve calls you out on your [ __ ] and helps you avoid mistakes asking for help isn't a sign of weakness it's a sign of strength a sign of confidence it shows your serious about leveling up constantly seek advice constantly find those people and engage with them in my 20s I rarely asked any questions I tried to figure everything out myself I was too damn proud to seek help it stymied my growth today totally different mindset I pay tens of thousands of dollars every single year to coaches to be parts of masterminds and to surround myself with people who can help me level up faster and to avoid mistakes don't be afraid to ask the right advice from the right Mentor at the right time can change everything number 13 don't wait for the perfect moment it does not exist you're waiting for the stars to aign you're wasting your damn time there's no such thing as the perfect moment conditions will never be ideal you're never going to feel fully ready and if you keep waiting for everything to be perfect you're going to be waiting forever or you're just going to miss the opportunity entirely the people who succeed consistently are the ones who take action they're the ones who start before their ready they take messy action they figure it out as they go they build the plane on the runway and they adjust along the way I've launched over a dozen businesses and each time I had no clue what I was doing sure I get better at it each time I launch a new business I get better at evaluating the risk and the reward and whether or not it's a great opportunity or just another opportunity but each time that I jumped in I made mistakes and I figured it out if you recognize a great opportunity the time to take messy action is now not later fortune favors the Bold take action start now 14 there's no such thing as the one this one will probably be a little bit controversial and if my wife's listening you get it if you're out there searching for your soulmate I've got bad news that person does not exist there's no single m iCal person out there who completes you who fixes all your problems and makes your life perfect relationships aren't about finding the one they're about finding someone who compliments you who works together with you to build an incredible life together there are billions of people on this planet so guess what there might be more than one that could work out for you the best relationships are Partnerships they're not built on fate or fairy tales or anything like that they're built on effort and communication and mutual respect stop searching for Perfection and start focusing on connection when the chemicals fade what do you got left if that doesn't sound romantic then so be it that's the truth my wife and I we make an incredible team we work on our relationship and we're willing to do so we have trust we have boundaries we love and respect each other and that's all that matters the one isn't found it's created through hard work and shared Vision 15 I told you I'd get back to this one time moves faster than you think blink in a decade is gone let me tell you how to stop wasting the most precious asset you have and that's time time is your only nonrenewable resource you can make more money you can build more businesses you can meet new people you can find new opportuni ities but you can't buy back your time the problem is most people live like they've got all the time in the world they say I'll do it tomorrow or I'll do it next week or I'll do it when I'm retired they procrastinate they waste their days they put off their dreams and then one day they wake up and wonder where the hell all the time went don't let that be you and on top of that your perception of time speeds up as your mind slows down and guess what your mind is slowing down right now it's doing it right now you'll continue to do that every single minute you're alive enjoy being bored now you won't even know what that is later your future 60-year-old billionaire self would give up every scent to be your poor ass right now let that sink in so stop wasting time on things that don't matter use your time wisely because once it's gone it's gone forever 16 learn how to be alone if you can't stand to be alone you're never going to figure out who you really are you're never going to know what you're made of being alone isn't loneliness it's time for clarity it's the space where you can learn to understand what drives you your goals what you really care about and what what you really care about most people are so afraid of being alone that they fill their lives with noise Doom scrolling meaningless relationships distractions but real growth happens when you Embrace Solitude that's where you're going to find your strength and your confidence when I first moved to California I didn't know a single person in La I lived alone ate alone I went to bars alone I know it sounds sad I learned a lot about myself and I'm a more confident person now because of it I'm not afraid of being alone in fact I love it I love going to a new city or city that maybe I haven't explored before by myself learning things seeing things talking to strangers answering to nobody learn to love your own company when you do you'll never need anyone else to validate you all right here we go 17 cut out people who don't Elevate you I'm not even going to repeat it but you know what it is the five people around you right and keeping toxic people around is like drinking poison and wondering why you feel bad let me tell you why you need to cut the dead weight out of your life your environment determines your success if you're surrounded by complainers pessimists and lazy unmotivated complacent people who don't believe in you they'll hold you down and they're going to kill you slowly it's not about being heartless it's about protecting your energy if someone isn't adding value to your life if they're not helping you grow and supporting your goals then they're holding you down and the worst part unfortunately sometimes that's the people that are closest to you close friends that you grew up with even family members but look some people change some people stay the same some people grow some people don't it's a fact of life and this life is too short to be held back and to not fulfill your potential I used to hang out with people who thought working a 9 to-5 and partying every weekend was the peak of life right when I started hanging out with multi-millionaires with doers with Builders with winners I had no choice but to level up my own life your circle should inspire you it should challenge you it should push you forward if it doesn't it's time to let those people go surround yourself with winners number 18 finding yourself is a waste of time books and movies Floy flowy gurus out there they'll say you need to find yourself you need to discover who you are I mean what the hell does that even mean you don't you're not lost you're just avoiding doing the damn work here's the thing you don't need to find yourself like you're some treasure buried in the sand you build yourself you create yourself you create the best version of yourself through action and effort and experience people who spend years or their whole lives finding themselves are usually just spinning their wheels they're avoiding the uncomfortable things that they don't want to do or the uncomfortable truth that that prevents them from growing those people are lazy those people are losers stop searching for some magical answer and start doing stuff start doing the hard things that's how you figure out who you are when I quit medical school I didn't have a grand plan or a Clear Vision I focused on bettering myself in whatever form I could taking business classes getting my MBA even trying to teach myself mandering at one point but I didn't just sit there I didn't sit around trying to find myself I got to work I tried new things I learned new skills and I let the process shape who I am that's how I built the life I have now you're not found you're made stop searching and start building 19 stop following your heart and listen to your brain brain follow your heart sounds cute but your heart can't think it can't reason and it can't make rational decisions start using your brain if you actually want to get somewhere your heart is emotional it's impulsive and it's shortsighted it'll lead you into bad relationships and bad business deals wasting time and bad decisions that you're going to regret your brain on the other hand knows how to think critically it can take its time it can weigh options and it can make decisions based on logic and facts now I'm just going to say there's a little caveat here that doesn't mean you ignore your emotions it means letting your brain take the lead and using your heart really as a kind of a gut check in the background but not actually making the final decision the older I get the more I make decisions with my brain and the better my decisions become and it's not a coincidence anytime I feel rushed or I feel emotional you know what I'm talking about you get forced into a sale or you get forced into giving an answer if I feel rushed or I feel emotional about something I just stop I stop I think and I wait and then when the emotion dissipates whether that's a minute or a day or a week then I make a rational decision based on facts and reason but also listening to my gut your heart feels but your brain leads remember that use them both but your brain is the leader trust it here we are at the Finish Line number 20 your life plan is a waste of time life doesn't care about your 10-year plan or your long-term plan or your white pick fences we're taught at an early age to pick what we want to do to marry who we want to be with forever to find our passion to work a million years and retire when you're too old to enjoy it but here's the reality life is unpredictable you can plan every detail but it's not going to turn out like you plan it the people who thrive in this life are the people who not only accept change but they welcome it the fastest adapting people the people who can deal with the most adversity and problems and continue on those are the ones who experience massive success it's called resilience your life plan is a comfort blanket not a road map it's fine to have goals but don't get so attached to this exact plan that you miss opportunities or you can't handle curveballs be flexible not rigid when I was five I wanted to be a monster truck driver when I was 15 I wanted to play in the NBA when I was 20 I wanted to be a doctor I don't know if I ever wanted to be a lawyer but here I am leveraging my knowledge and skill set to create massive wealth and build a life In My Dreams enjoying all of it the life plan changes you've got to be flexible your life plan is not the final plan be resilient be flexible adapt pivot Thrive and there you have it 20 truths that'll hit you hard if you're paying attention life isn't about Comfort it's not about approval it's not about patiently waiting it's about taking risks it's about making moves and doing whatever it takes to build something that actually matters you've got two choices now you can nod your head and say h wow that's great and go right back to doing the same old [ __ ] that kept you stuck for how long or you can take what you've learned look in the mirror and say I'm done with average let's go the truth is no one's coming to save you not your parents boss not your friends not the president it's on you to take action to take the leap to take the This week John Wyatt Greenlee, Colin Colbourn, and Alan Malfavon flyover to talk about James Gunn's Superman, the need for heroes in everyday lives, and casting the rest of the DCU.About our guests:Alan Malfavon is Assistant Professor of History at California State University San Marcos. His first book, Men of the Leeward Port: Veracruz's Afro-Descendants in the Making of Mexico, under contract with the University of Alabama Press, focuses on the understudied Afro-Mexican population of Veracruz and its hinterland of Sotavento (Leeward) and uses it to reframe the historical and historiographical transition between the colonial and national period. It argues how Afro-Mexicans facilitated, complicated, and participated in multiple socio-political processes that reshaped Veracruz and its borderlands. Colin Colbourn holds a Ph.D in U.S. History from the University of Southern Mississippi. His expertise includes mass communication and assisting in research efforts for unresolved casualties from past conflicts. Since 2007 he has published articles on Marine Corps history in Leatherneck: Magazine of the Marines, and was Associate Editor for the West Point History of Warfare. John Wyatt Greenlee is a medievalist and a cartographic historian, as well as a historian of roads and pathways and pilgrimage. But he is best well known for his work on the role of eels in pre-modern England from the tenth through the seventeenth centuries. He is heavily engaged in outreach and public engagement to make the eel history more widely known, and to raise awareness for the role of eels as an endangered species. His work with eels and eel history has been profiled in TIME, The Guardian, Atlas Obscura, Hakai Magazine, and The New Yorker (click here for a full list of earned media)

Stefanie Fox, MPH (she/her) is the Executive Director of Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), a U.S. based, grassroots membership organization mobilizing Jewish communities into the movement for Palestinian rights and freedom and towards a vision of Judaism beyond Zionism. Prior to her 16 years at JVP JVP, Stefanie spent a decade doing racial and economic justice work as a grassroots community organizer, public health practitioner, and policy researcher and analyst. She has written extensively for print media with publications in outlets like Time, Boston Review, The Nation, and has appeared on MSNBC, Al Jazeera English, CNN, and more. Ahmed Moor is a Palestinian-American writer born in Gaza and a 2025 Fellow at FMEP. He is an advisory board member of the US Campaign for Palestinian rights, co-editor of After Zionism (Saqi Books) and is currently writing a book about Palestine. He also currently serves on the board of the Independence Media Foundation. His work has been published in The Guardian, The London Review of Books, The Nation, and elsewhere. Marvel Snap is reaching (0:05:53) Kev: to play. It feels like it’s reaching to play. So there’s just it’s just going bananas, like (0:05:58) Kev: the power levels going up, which, you know, in most card games, that’s what you have to (0:06:02) Kev: do because you have to keep releasing new cards that people want to buy. But the other (0:06:08) Kev: Interesting tidbit, okay, I can’t remember when they introduced it or (0:06:12) Kev: if it’s always been there. (0:06:15) Kev: So you know that there’s a season pass in Marvel Snap, it’s the big thing. (0:06:18) Al: Yep. I am aware. (0:06:20) Kev: There’s the premium season pass, that’s where you actually pay the money and (0:06:25) Kev: you get the card, right? (0:06:26) Al: Yeah. Yeah, that just unlocks 10 extra levels, right? (0:06:26) Kev: Because the season pass, every player gets it, but (0:06:29) Kev: you don’t get half of it until you pay the $10 or whatever. (0:11:49) Kev: So they don’t stay and generate power on your board or whatever (0:11:53) Kev: And so they introduced that so that that was kind of like their first really like okay, we’re introducing some new cards that aren’t just characters (0:12:01) Kev: But yes the fantastic cars for it as I can tell (0:12:04) Kev: It’s like the first one that’s like a piece of equipment or or vehicle or whatever (0:12:05) Al: I, I just remembered, I just remembered Thanos gives you the Infinity Stones. (0:14:34) Kev: If you pick a card you want out of your pack and then you pass the cards to the next person and you know (0:14:40) Kev: Everyone kind of swaps packs and everyone keeps selecting out of these different packs until you have a pile of your own cards from all (0:14:47) Kev: These different packs (0:14:49) Kev: and (0:14:50) Kev: So it was always a novel idea. I never tried it before but I know something very weird about like, okay (0:14:55) Kev: I have this pack. I don’t want to share the cards. Why am I giving you my cards, but (0:15:01) Kev: But it works out because after you know the (0:15:04) Kev: packs are going around and rotated and all that like you have a deck that you (0:15:10) Kev: know there’s X number of packs and from that you’ve actually built the deck that (0:15:14) Kev: kind of sort of works if you know what you’re doing right and everyone’s kind of (0:15:18) Kev: on the same playing field because everyone’s opening all these new packs (0:15:21) Kev: nobody has any you know bringing in any existing cards or whatever so it’s kind (0:15:27) Kev: of a levelish playing field um bit of luck in there of course depending on (0:15:31) Kev: what you open or whatnot. (0:15:34) Kev: it’s a fun novel idea. And so on Arena, the version I play, the actual drafting part (0:15:43) Kev: is done with bots. You don’t actually do it with the other players. So that’s nice because (0:15:48) Kev: you don’t have to, you know, there’s not a timer or anything, you know, you’re just like, (0:15:52) Kev: okay, here, I think about it, pick what I want. Or if you know, if you need to go step away, (0:15:57) Kev: go to the bathroom, whatever you can, right, there’s no pressure to actually finish the draft (0:16:01) Kev: in X number of minutes or whatever. (0:16:05) Kev: But then when you build your deck, then you go, uh, you play against actual other players who’ve done the similar, um, drafting process.
