Foreign media reports have said the central bank has suffered losses of 2-trillion N-T since the beginning of May due to the alleged speculating (做投機買賣). Argentine President Javier Milei came to power nearly a year ago on the campaign promise to abolish the central bank and dollarize his country's economy. As part of his ambitious reform agenda, the government has eliminated fiscal deficits and significantly reduced public spending and inflation. Milei remains committed to dollarization but has not yet implemented that reform. Given the progress in stabilizing the economy, Emilio Ocampo, Alfredo Romano, and Nicolas Cachanosky will discuss why Argentina should not wait to replace the peso with the dollar. Drawing from regional experiences and Argentina's own history, they will explain how carrying out such monetary reform sooner rather than later—along with lifting capital controls and freeing the exchange rate—would boost confidence in the Argentine economy and produce tangible economic and political benefits. In this episode of the More Freedom Foundation Podcast, hosts Rob and Ruairi delve into the transformative first year of Argentine President Javier Milei's administration. Milei, a far-right economist and libertarian, assumed office amid economic turmoil and has since implemented radical reforms to stabilize the nation's economy. His policies have included significant austerity measures, such as reducing public spending, cutting subsidies, and laying off government workers, leading to Argentina's first fiscal surplus in 14 years. These measures have resulted in a notable decrease in inflation, dropping from 211% in December 2023 to 193% in October 2024, with monthly inflation hitting a three-year low of 2.7% in October. However, these reforms have also led to increased unemployment and poverty, raising questions about the social impact of such economic strategies. Join Rob and Ruairi as they analyze the successes and challenges of Milei's presidency, exploring whether his 'shock therapy' approach is truly benefiting Argentina or exacerbating existing issues. In today's episode, we cover two major stories that are shaping the business and financial landscape in Latin America and beyond.First, we examine the controversy surrounding Argentine President Javier Milei and his promotion of a cryptocurrency called $LIBRA. Argentine lawyers have filed fraud complaints against President Milei in criminal court following his social media endorsement of the coin. Initially touted as a means to "encourage economic growth by funding small businesses and startups," $LIBRA skyrocketed to a $4 billion market cap before collapsing and causing millions of dollars in losses for its investors. Despite the collapse, insiders reportedly pocketed nearly $100 million in profits. Milei has taken full responsibility for the debacle, claiming he acted in good faith and was blindsided by scammers. We explore whether this situation is a case of poor due diligence, a miscalculated experiment, or simply playing dumb—drawing comparisons with similar incidents involving other political figures. In the second segment, we shift our focus to the global hospitality industry. Best Western Hotels is making a bold move by expanding into the Dominican Republic with the new La Estancia, BW Premier Collection, breaking ground in La Romana. Set to welcome guests in 2026, the luxury property will feature over 60 guest rooms along with upscale amenities such as multiple dining and bar options, a gym, pool, outdoor bar, tennis courts, and a rooftop event space. This development is a significant milestone for the Dominican Republic's tourism sector, further cementing the country's reputation as a premier global travel destination and strengthening the collaboration between the private sector and the state.Join us as we unpack these stories, analyze their economic and political implications, and discuss what they mean for the future of cryptocurrency and international hospitality.

//The Wire//2300Z February 18, 2025////ROUTINE////BLUF: CRYPTOCURRENCY MARKETS TREND TOWARDS NATIONSTATES ENGAGING IN QUESTIONABLE COIN LAUNCHES. POPE FRANCIS ILL WITH PNEUMONIA. FIRE BREAKS OUT AT DEFENSE CONTRACTOR FACILITY NEAR PHILLY.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Vatican City: Following recent health concerns, the Vatican confirmed this morning that Pope Francis is suffering from bilateral pneumonia and will be undergoing medical treatment over the next few days/weeks.Economics: Various developments within the world of cryptocurrencies have come to light over the past few weeks. The markets have largely remained unimpressive as the pro-crypto sentiments expressed during Trump's campaign have not materialized in the form of policy. Both the ($ TRUMP) and ($ MELANIA) coins have turned out to largely be very questionable operations, despite Trump's coin having a market cap of over $3 billion.-HomeFront-Pennsylvania: A major fire broke out overnight at SPS Technologies north of Philadelphia. So far the cause of the fire has not been publicly disclosed, and a one-mile shelter-in-place zone remains in effect for the surrounding area. AC: SPS Technologies (who's parent company is Berkshire Hathaway) is a major defense contractor, providing fasteners and various industrial materials/chemicals to the military.Southeastern U.S. - Snowfall estimates remain variable throughout the disaster zones recently subjected to severe flooding. National Weather Service forecasts indicate that the additional rain expected this week won't significantly impact flooding throughout the region. Nevertheless, severe winter weather is expected from the Ozarks to central Appalachia over the next few days.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In the world of finance, perhaps most interesting are the sheer number of meme-coin rug-pulls that have been conducted at the nationstate level over the past week. In the past, podcasters and influencers would create a meme coin (keeping most of the supply for themselves), then promote that coin heavily to drive the price up, before selling off their entire supply for a large profit. In the world of traditional stock trading something similar is generally known as a Pump-and-Dump scheme. However in the world of crypto a slightly more simple version of this scheme is known as pulling the rug out from underneath investors, i.e. a "rug pull". When it's a meme coin that is started purely for the joke itself and not taken seriously, it's bad enough since this is essentially just fraudulent creators scamming their fans. However, world leaders and nationstates are now apparently engaging in this practice. The President of the Central African Republic launched his own meme coin ($ CAR) on behalf of the nation last week. The coin spiked in value before immediately bottoming out, with most investors suspecting that the President divested at the peak of the coin's value, meaning that a President rug-pulled his own nation's cryptocurrency. A similar situation was reported last week in India, as a government official (with almost 400k followers on X) launched a token that he deliberately claimed (in a since-deleted tweet) as being India's official government token. The issue is that this was done unilaterally without approval, and complicated by the fact that India already has a national cryptocurrency. As expected, the ($ INDIA) token, spiked in value before immediately being flooded with liquidity (as the early investors dumped their holdings), signaling yet another government official with a large following that has openly scammed investors. These types of crypto-fraud have not entirely been confined to the third world, however. Argentine President Javier Milei has drawn much criticism over the past few days after he promoted a meme coin ($ LIBRA) which also turned out to be a very blatant rug-pu

Welcome back to the Capitalist Investor Podcast! In this episode hosted by Diamond Hands D and co-host Tony the Tiger, we delved into a variety of pressing economic and political topics, discussing everything from international fiscal policies to cutting-edge technology. Here's a summary of the five hottest topics explored in this episode:Javier Milei's Economic Revolution in Argentina Newly elected Argentine President Javier Milei has implemented radical economic policies that ended Argentina's long-standing budget deficit for the first time in over a century. Inflation, which had soared to 200%, plummeted to under 3%. These cost-cutting measures included reducing infrastructure and social program spending, wage and pension freezes, subsidy cuts, mass layoffs, and allowing the peso to depreciate. While these policies brought down inflation sharply, they also triggered economic downturns and soaring unemployment rates. The episode discusses the potential for such measures in the U.S., highlighting the political and social challenges that come with slashing social programs like Social Security and Medicare.Tesla's Market Dominance and Future Innovations Tony shared his admiration for Tesla's exemplary growth in 2023 with a 38% income increase, projecting further growth next year. They discussed Tesla's plans to introduce a more affordable Model Q at around $30,000 and speculated on the launch of consumer robots priced between $20,000 and $25,000, drawing parallels with science fiction films like "iRobot." Tesla's advancements in autonomous technology were praised, comparing Tesla's industry-disrupting work to the introduction of the iPhone. There were also discussions on Elon Musk's political shift and its potential impact on Tesla's consumer base.UFO Sightings and Drone Conspiracies The hosts entertained discussions around recent UFO sightings, particularly glowing orb-like drones seen over New Jersey's Trump Bedminster and other locations like Dallas and Seattle. They noted concerns from commercial airline pilots encountering these drones. Theories ranged from potential foreign surveillance to advanced U.S. technology, with some sightings suspected to be fakes. This discussion branched into broader concerns, including speculations about an earthquake in California potentially caused by a Russian bomb and worries over missing bioweapons from an Australian lab.Challenges Faced by U.S. Automakers and Elon Musk's EV Strategy Tony touched upon the difficulties U.S. automakers are experiencing in transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs). In contrast, Elon Musk's Tesla, solely focused on EVs, continues to lead in innovation and market growth. Despite uncertainties around long-term adoption rates, a survey highlighted that only 1% of EV owners reverted to gas-powered cars. This conversation provided insights into the shifting dynamics of the automotive industry and Musk's strategic focus on future technologies, including possible consumer robots.U.S. Postal Service and Government Inefficiencies Issues surrounding the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) were highlighted, including significant mail delivery delays and inefficiencies experienced in 2024. The hosts pointed to Elon Musk's recent efficiency improvements at Twitter as potential strategies for reducing government inefficiencies. Criticisms were directed at the Biden administration's policies, perceived as extending unnecessary government functions, thus impacting economic management. They concluded with a call for systematic budget cuts to address the U.S. budget deficit, suggesting reevaluating the scope of government departments like education and the FDA without broadly slashing essential services. Concerns over the economic implications of such cuts on market stability and personal investments were also discussed. That's it for this week's hot topics! Stay tuned for more!
Join Review of Democracy Latin American Editor Gabriel Pereira as he hosts Andrés Malamud, a leading scholar of Latin American politics, to discuss a crucial development in current political affairs: the rise of successful political outsiders in Latin America. The podcast focuses on and draws lessons from the experience of current Argentine president Javier Milei. It delves into pivotal questions: How do outsiders get elected in a political system designed to secure electoral competition among established political leaders? How do they navigate constraints posed by legislatures dominated by opposition? Does the rise of political outsiders from the global north influence the progress of these Latin American leaders? Does the radical right-wing ideology of outsiders make them more effective? What are the lessons for understanding current Latin American politics?

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal will temporarily stay in power despite an earlier resignation request. Rescue workers have sealed a 226-meter breach in a dike at China's second-largest freshwater lake.
Episode 52 takes us on a journey across several continents and covers a wide spectrum of topics. After remembering the legacy of his good friend and New Brunswick business icon Arthur Irving, who passed away recently, Frank covers the Sunak government's decision to call an early election in the U.K. and the trend toward authoritarian governments around the world, calling it a cyclical rather than secular trend. Frank checks in on new Argentine President Javier Milei's efforts to reduce the size of government and services in order to improve its financial position, a process that is complicated and requires compromise. He tells the U.S. Senators complaining to Trudeau about Canadian defense spending to stand down as the country's defense spending is moving in the right direction. Finally, he covers the U.S. election and suggests that despite his likely guilty verdict, Trump's opposition ought to change the narrative from "Trump is bad" to "Trump is going to get off". At the 2024 Marxism Conference, Red Flag Radio spoke to Argentinian socialist Cesar Latorre, union militant and leading member of the Movimiento Socialista Los de Trabajadores (MST). Chloe asked Cesar about the role of the revolutionary left in the struggle against far right Argentine President Javier Milei. Milei came to power promising radical free market policies, massive cuts to the public sector and a confrontational approach to the unions and the left. Since taking office he has unleashed a wave of attacks on workers, students and the poor -- announcing plans to sack 70,000 public sector workers, lower pensions, defund education and crackdown on dissent with attempts to outlaw forms of protest. Milei's attacks and rampant inflation mean that working class living standards are in free fall. But Milei has been met with significant resistance. He has faced mass protests in January, two general strikes since taking office and an emerging student resistance to education cuts. The revolutionary left in Argentina has played a significant role in these mobilisations. Alongside the dangers of the moment, opportunities have emerged in the course of struggle for the socialist left to grow. It's a region blessed with incredible natural resources, from copper to lithium to rich agricultural lands. It's home to vibrant cultures, amazing music and creative and talented people. And yet it has never fulfilled its enormous economic potential. All too often it's lurched from boom to bust, from hyperinflation to debt crises. We ask why that is. We consider corruption, crime, inequality, excessive bureaucracy and weak governance. We look at Argentina's long decline and Venezuela's economic implosion, and ask what Latin America can do to bring greater prosperity to its people.Produced and presented by Gideon Long(Image: A man waves an Argentine flag during the demonstration. On this week's Stansberry Investor Hour, Dan and Corey welcome Lyn Alden to the show. Lyn is an independent analyst, bestselling author, and founder of Lyn Alden Investment Strategy – an investment research service for both retail and institutional investors. She kicks the podcast off by describing how her background in engineering has influenced her macroeconomic investing style. She explains why she became so interested in macroeconomics in the first place and why 2017 was a turning point for the U.S. economy. Lyn also talks about fiscal dominance – or when fiscal deficits and federal debts are large enough that they start reducing a central bank's options. She puts this in the historical context of the 1970s and clarifies why inflation and interest rates are so complexly intertwined today. (4:39) Next, Lyn shares her outlook for the U.S. economy, including higher-than-baseline inflation for the foreseeable future and the country being in a similar situation to emerging markets. She discusses areas of the market where fiscal dominance has been appearing over the past few years, how the 2010s taught investors the wrong lesson, why the U.S. may experience the same economic troubles that Japan is facing right now, and the divergence between sectors going through recessions versus those that benefit from deficits. (16:42) Lastly, Lyn cautions listeners against using the traditional 60/40 portfolio in inflationary environments like today's and instead urges them to prioritize energy, precious metals, and hard assets. She also breaks down why she finds Latin America so attractive today (particularly Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico) and gives an in-depth explanation of how technology impacts money. (34:03) Dan and Corey close things out by discussing the backlash to Argentine President Javier Milei's economic shake-up, including his devaluing the peso against the U.S. dollar and laying off thousands of government workers. Plus, they share their thoughts on the latest speculative meme craze – closed-end fund Destiny Tech100 (DXYZ) – and what it means for the broader market. (54:28)

Major revelations & exposés in this one, friends. Our mapping of the Israeli campus surveillance dragnet is getting seriously fleshed out... In which we go even deeper on Shai Davidai & his intel connected family... We excavate the Mossad Chabad presence at Columbia University, which brings us to an instructive interlock: namely that the former Israeli consul general in NYC seems to be closely connected to the Columbia Chabad house and that his daughter, in all likelihood, was a part of the community or else at least attended some events there. Said ex-consul and the current chairman of Yad Vashem (the World Holocaust Remembrance Center) appears to be a confidant of new Argentine President Javier Milei—just 3 days ago, former consul gen. Dayan hosted Milei at Yad Vashem on his official visit to Israel. Can't help but wonder if the consul—who is an Argentine by birth, as well, btw—was involved in introducing Milei to Chabad Lubavitch. When not feting the President of Argentina, Dayan has recently been returning to Columbia University to speak to the antisemitism Taskforce assembled there (under duress from Shai Davidai and other Israeli lobby elements). We mention a picture in a Columbia Spectator article covering said meeting b/w the Taskforce & Dayan that appears to show that Davidai was present. We discuss Dayan's daughter's presidency of Students Supporting Israel & the fact that the Columbia Chabad house also retweeted a post of his applauding a Consulate intern/ Columbia student for confronting the PM of Malaysia regarding his "antisemitic" remarks, which gets at the way in which the Israeli campus surveillance dragnet operates & is also formed through familial & work relations. We tease at the obvious Psy-Group and Project Butterfly influence on Shai Davidai's blackmailing, doxxing, & intel-weaponizing strategies for combatting B*D*S on campus and we unpack the recent news regarding the anonymous group of students who have filed an official complaint regarding his retaliatory conduct. Our investigation culminates with a mini foray into Shai's work as an ad hoc reviewer for the US-Israel Binational Science Foundation, a spooky org that, among other things, has financed research projects studying the jewel wasp and its neurotoxic stinger, which it uses to mind control cockroaches, zombifying them, and then inviting them into its lair, where it implants them with larvae. This takes us into some properly noided terrain, the implications of which are a little frightening, to say the least. Professor Tim Evans of Middlesex University explains why he so enjoyed new Argentine President Javier Milei lecturing the great and good of the World Economic Forum about libertarian and Austrian economics, attacking corporatism and socialism. He feels Milei could be the most consequential politician economically-speaking for many years. He also looks at falling EV car sales, lamenting the way in which politicians set goals for achieving their hobbyhorses irrespective of scientific progress and consumer demand. And he is fascinated by a meeting between journalist John Humphreys and members of Gen Z, which showed them to be different to the popular perception. Learn more about your ad choices. Dan and Corey kick things off by discussing Argentine President Javier Milei's incendiary speech at the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. They start by quoting some passages from it and covering the main themes – from the negative consequences of government intervention to potentially abolishing the central bank. After, they talk about why this type of rhetoric from a politician would never fly in the U.S., even though it reflects a lot of people's feelings. Next, Stansberry Research Director of Research Matt Weinschenk joins the conversation and elaborates on what type of investor he considers himself to be. He brings up value investing, the importance of bottom-up business-quality analysis, and how he uses quantitative tools to find the best businesses. Matt then explains the "Stansberry Score," which ranks nearly 5,000 stocks from first to last. It assigns each stock both an overall number and letter grade, plus letter grades for financials, capital efficiency, and valuation. Investors can use it to check ratings on stocks they may be interested in, or they can use it to find hidden gems. If you're interested in learning more about this tool and trying it for free, you can check it out at StansberryAnnouncement.com. Matt also goes into detail on The Quant Portfolio. This new portfolio is fully optimized and uses Stansberry Score data to evaluate each stock. Entirely using computers and algorithms, it looks at the relationships between each stock and picks out the best ones that will work together to provide the highest returns. And so far, it's blowing the market out of the water! Matt emphasizes that in the past two years of live testing, The Quant Portfolio is up 20%, while the market is only up 5. Lastly, Matt talks all things econometrics – what it is, whether it's worth studying, and its interplay with machine learning.

Marcos Falcone discusses Argentine President Javier Milei's fiery speech at the World Economic Forum's annual conference in Davos on the latest episode of Just Asking Questions.
Growing up in the pastoral serenity of Nimitabelle, Angus Taylor's transition to Federal Shadow Treasurer was a journey marked by a heritage rich with public service and a strong sense of community. Our conversation peels back the layers of his life's tapestry, revealing the influence of his grandfather's role in the Snowy Scheme and the principles of servant leadership that have propelled Angus into the fray of national politics. We navigate through the complexities of balancing public scrutiny with the fulfillment of serving the people, dissecting the cynicism that pervades the political landscape and the increasingly vocal minority that often overshadows the silent majority.Amidst the cacophony of the political arena, Angus Taylor brings clarity to the silent majority's concerns—from the economic pressures facing Australian families to the challenges of government intervention. We critically assess the current Labor government's policies, pondering over the long-term strategies for economic resilience and the role of individual agency. From the inspiring speech by Argentine President Javier Milei at Davos to the debate over corporate overreach, we contemplate the delicate dance between government, big business, and the values that define our local communities. Celebrating Australia's identity and heritage, this episode is an impassioned tribute to the small-town virtues that continue to shape our national story. We have been intrigued by some of the news coming out of the World Economic Forum (i.e. Davos) and have been on the lookout for someone who could give us an objective, independent summary and assessment of the gathering. We were elated to connect with our special friend Dr. Dan Yergin for such a discussion. While impossible to succinctly summarize his achievements and contributions to the energy industry, Dan is the Vice Chairman of S&P Global, the Chairman of CERAWeek, and the author of several books, with his most recent being "The New Map." He is a Pulitzer prize-winner and a highly esteemed energy expert. It was our pleasure to discuss Dan's key takeaways from the event as well as preview this year's CERAWeek Conference. We covered a lot of territory in our conversation starting with Dan's impressions of Davos and the role of major international conferences (Davos, COP, etc.), the unique role of the Founder and Chairman of the World Economic Forum Professor Klaus Schwab (bio linked here), this year's top theme, and geopolitical concerns including proxy wars, disruptions in the Middle East, and Red Sea disruption affecting oil tankers. Dan shares his perspective on oil market dynamics, OPEC+ cohesion and oil demand projections for 2024, Russian production resilience despite international service companies pulling out of the country, global energy forecasts and the gap between IEA and OPEC projections, Argentine President Javier Milei's impactful speech (linked here), power/electricity demand growth, copper and mining challenges, and more. We also discuss the CERAWeek Conference taking place from March 18 – 22 in Houston and how the conference's theme of "Multidimensional Energy Transition: Markets, Climate, Technology and Geopolitics" will translate across sessions such as LNG, geopolitical complexities, and the changing global environment. Dan never disappoints and we had a great time visiting with him (as usual!). Mike Bradley kicked off the show by highlighting recent bullish equity market sentiment, his current energy commodity thoughts, and key things to focus on as the energy sector ramps up Q4 reporting over the coming weeks. On the equity market front, he remains concerned that equity volatility is very low and equity market sentiment is very bullish. Broader equity markets like the Nasdaq and S&P 500 continue making all-time highs due to continued optimism with AI and large-cap technology stocks, while smaller indices like the Russell 2000 continue to trade well below their all-time highs, therefore a narrow market breadth. Global crude oil prices have caught a bid in recent weeks (WTI at ~$75/bbl). Both Brent and WTI crude oil time spreads have moved back into backwardation, for the first time since November, which typically signals a tighter physical market, and could be related to frigid U.S. temperatures. U.S. natural gas prices plunged by ~$1.00/MMBtu over the last week, which has pushed natural gas price to ~$2.40/MMBtu. On the energy sector front, Q4 energy sector reporting has begun with the Big3 oil service companies reporting and over the next couple of weeks, energy sector reporting will broaden out to a handful of NAM land rig/frac companies, E&Ps, midstream, oil majors and refiners, all of which should provide a clearer picture of the 2024 classic energy landscape. The business entity previously known as Twitter, now recognized as X, recently created significant buzz when its CEO, Elon Musk, shared an image considered inappropriate for a professional environment. The image showcased a nude male situated upright in bed, a laptop obscuring the posterior of a similarly unclothed woman positioned on his lap, facing in the opposite direction. Accompanying the image was the caption, 'so hot rn' (an abbreviation for 'right now'). However, the true focus of Musk's post was not the provocative setup, but the content displayed on the laptop's screen - a widely discussed speech given at the World Economic Forum meeting by Argentine President Javier Milei. Addressing the global leaders gathered in Davos, Switzerland, President Milei articulated a sense of peril facing the Western world. His discourse urged for a reembrace of capitalism, conveying his belief that the current interpretation of Western values leans dangerously towards socialist notions. His statements garnered appreciation from those aligned with conservative viewpoints, who interpreted his words as a much-needed caution against abandoning capitalist fundamentals. The Argentine leader declared during his address that he saw a trend of Western world leaders straying from the path of liberty to tread upon various forms of collectivism. Differing motivations led them to this point, some being well-intentioned individuals with desires to assist humanity, while others sought prestige and social acceptance. Still, he declared the adoption of collectivist ideologies as a harmful illusion that exacerbates global issues rather than solving them.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (01/18/2024): 3:05pm- Nick Corasaniti of The New York Times writes: “Former President Donald J. Trump's resounding victory in Iowa significantly raises the stakes of next week's New Hampshire primary for Nikki Haley and the increasingly desperate contingent of Republicans who want to move on from Mr. Trump. While Iowa was largely a foregone conclusion at the top, with a spirited battle only for second place, a small but ever narrowing path still exists for Ms. Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, to beat Mr. Trump in New Hampshire. It relies heavily on tens of thousands of independent voters expected to participate in the Republican primary.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/16/us/politics/haley-new-hampshire-independents-trump.html 3:15pm- Despite finishing behind former President Donald and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in Monday's Iowa caucus, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley claimed that the Republican presidential nomination is now a “two-person race” between herself and Trump. According to Real Clear Politics polling averages, Trump leads Haley 44% to 29% in New Hampshire and 52% to 22% in her home state of South Carolina. Does she have any chance of actually winning Tuesday's NH primary? 3:20pm- On a recent episode of The Journal podcast, New Hampshire voters revealed that they are changing their party affiliation from Democrat to Republican prior to the state's January 23rd primary. Because they can't vote for their preferred candidate—Joe Biden—as he won't appear on the ballot following a Democrat National Committee feud with the state over scheduling dates, many Democrat voters are now registering as Republicans in order to vote against Donald Trump, supporting rival candidates like Nikki Haley. Democrats have seemingly destroyed their own New Hampshire primary, are they impacting the Republican primary as well? 3:40pm- Rich appeared on Fox News with host Dana Perino earlier today and he won't stop mentioning. We are less than an hour into the show and he has already mentioned it seven times! Also, does he need Botox? 3:50pm- A video posted to Fox News' website documents a secret China-run lab in California—which was seemingly used to experiment on dangerous viruses and diseases including Ebola. 3:55pm- Robby Soave of Reason writes: “The World Economic Forum's (WEF) annual meeting is underway in Davos, Switzerland. Last year, disinformation stole the spotlight and was featured as a key problem for global elites to address. This year, the WEF has upped the ante, releasing a report that lists ‘misinformation and disinformation' as the No. 1 short-term risk facing the world—beating out interstate armed conflict, climate change, and lack of economic opportunity. One of the first events at this year's meeting was a panel discussion, ‘Liberating Science,' which largely focused on disinformation as it relates to the climate change agenda.” You can read his full editorial here: https://reason.com/2024/01/18/world-economic-forum-davos-science-disinformation/ 4:05pm- At the World Economic Forum, Harvard Professor Naomi Orsekes accused the social media platform X of disseminating fake information—and, when pressed, she refused to deny that she would recommend censoring the platform. During a panel discussion, Orsekes also claimed that animal agriculture is a “major driver of climate change” and called on people to drastically reduce the amount of meat they consume. 4:15pm- A video posted to Fox News' website documents a secret China-run lab in California—which was seemingly used to experiment on dangerous viruses and diseases including Ebola. Why didn't the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) take the incident more seriously? 4:30pm- During a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland several speakers expressed outrage because citizens of the world no longer trust science blindly—questioning “when did the word ‘expert' become an insult?” 4:40pm- While appearing on Fox News with Sean Hannity, Rep. Jim Jordan accused the U.S. federal government—with the help of tech companies and universities—of targeting conservative voices for censorship prior to the 2020 presidential election. 4:50pm- Following Monday's results of the Iowa caucus, MSNBC host Joy Reid claimed that Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley finished third because of her skin color—arguing that GOP voters could never elect a woman of color. Haley slammed Reid for her comments noting that she was elected to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and that America is not a racist country. 5:05pm- The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board writes: “No one escapes the climate police these days, and that includes Taylor Swift. The pop star has been criticized recently for emitting CO2 on her frequent trips on a private jet to see her beau Travis Kelce play for the Kansas City Chiefs. But not to worry. A spokesperson for the entertainer says Ms. Swift has been buying carbon offsets.” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/taylor-swift-co2-offsets-private-jet-emissions-climate-82bb7d61?mod=opinion_lead_pos1 5:20pm- While participating in a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Vanessa Kerry—daughter of U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry—alleged that the climate crisis is actually a “health crisis.” 5:30pm- On Thursday, Congress passed a bill that would extend government funding into March—temporarily avoiding a government shutdown. The legislation passed 77-18 in the Senate and 314-108 in the House of Representatives. In response to the deal, the House Freedom Caucus tweeted: “The House Freedom Caucus strongly opposes the proposed short-term Continuing Resolution extending government funding to March to facilitate the passage of the Johnson-Schumer agreement's appropriations bills. Americans did not give Republicans a majority in the House to continue Nancy Pelosi's inflationary spending and Joe Biden's failed policies. Unfortunately, that's precisely what has been proposed in order to buy time—incredibly—to pass full-year appropriations that increase Pelosi's spending level and likely preserve Biden's policies. This is not what we promised the American people. Instead, Speaker Mike Johnson should walk away from his agreement with Senate Majority Leader Schumer and pass an appropriations package that meaningfully reduces spending year-over-year and secures our southern border. That is what winning looks like. Seven months ago, over the opposition of many conservatives, Congress raised the debt limit by roughly $4 trillion to January 2025 and, in exchange, established modest spending caps. The recent Johnson-Schumer topline agreement uses those ‘side deals' to spend past the caps by a whopping $69 billion for an unprecedented total of $1.659 trillion—without securing a single commitment on Republican policy priorities. This doesn't preserve the status quo. It makes it worse.” You can find the tweet here: https://twitter.com/freedomcaucus/status/1748077616635007478/photo/1 5:40pm- Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday, Argentine President Javier Milei told those in attendance “do not surrender” to socialism and to instead embrace capitalism and free markets. He explained, “collectivist experiments are never the solution to the problems that afflict the citizens of the world. Rather, they are the root cause.” Meanwhile, Kevin Roberts, the president of The Heritage Foundation, went nuclear on totalitarian elites at the forum—defending Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as a protector of individual liberties. 6:05pm- Amy Gardner and Holly Bailey write: “A state judge overseeing the election interference case against former president Donald Trump in Georgia has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 15 to hear evidence regarding accusations that Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis (D) and her lead prosecutor engaged in an improper relationship and mishandled public money.” You can read the full article here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2024/01/18/judge-orders-hearing-fani-willis-misconduct-georgia-case/ 6:20pm- On Fox News last night, Jesse Waters noted that the lead prosecutor in the Donald Trump Georgia election interference criminal case, Nathan Wade, billed Fulton County for 24-hours of work in a single day. Wade is alleged to have had an improper relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. 6:30pm- Has Rich mentioned that he was on Fox News with Dana Perino earlier today? At least 17 or 18 times, actually. 6:40pm- Why is snortable caffeine a thing? And who could have ever predicted that it isn't good for you? 6:50pm- During a House hearing, Rep. Max Frost (D-FL) drafted a bill to remove the Statue of Liberty in response to Republican demands to secure the U.S. Southern border. Rep. Frost bizarrely argued that the promise of the Statue of Liberty could not be fulfilled without open borders and unrestricted immigration.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: Kristen Pieffer of the Freedonia Group documents the results of a brand-new study on the impact of New Jersey's ban on single-use plastic bags. She writes: “following implementation of the New Jersey bag ban, total bag volumes declined by more than 60% to 894 million bags. However, the study also shows, following New Jersey's ban of single-use bags, the shift from plastic film to alternative bags resulted in a nearly 3x increase in plastic consumption for bags. At the same time, 6x more woven and non-woven polypropylene plastic was consumed to produce the reusable bags sold to consumers as an alternative. Most of these alternative bags are made with non-woven polypropylene, which is not widely recycled in the United States and does not typically contain any post-consumer recycled materials. This shift in material also resulted in a notable environmental impact, with the increased consumption of polypropylene bags contributing to a 500% increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to non-woven polypropylene bag production in 2015. Notably, non-woven polypropylene, NWPP, the dominant alternative bag material, consumes over 15 times more plastic and generates more than five times the amount of GHG emissions during production per bag than polyethylene plastic bags.” You can read the full report here: https://www.freedoniagroup.com/press-releases/freedonia-report-finds-new-jersey-single-use-bag-ban-boosts-alternative-bag-production,-increases-pl Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday, Argentine President Javier Milei told those in attendance “do not surrender” to socialism and to instead embrace capitalism, free markets, and individual liberties. Why does Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise follow Matt on social media? Rich and Henry are baffled. While speaking with CNBC from Davos, Switzerland, JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon implored the Biden campaign team and members of the media to stop “scapegoating” presumed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and his supporters. Dimon said of Trump: "Just take a step back and be honest. He was kind of right about NATO. He was kind of right about immigration. He grew the economy quite well. Tax reform worked. He was right about China." While appearing on The View, Vice President Kamala Harris said she was “scared as heck” of Donald Trump and his supporters.

Documents obtained from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services by a House committee and reviewed by The Wall Street Journal show that a Chinese researcher in Beijing uploaded a nearly complete sequence of the virus's structure to a U.S. government-run database on Dec. 28, 2019. Chinese officials at that time were still publicly describing the disease outbreak in Wuhan, China, as a viral pneumonia “of unknown cause” and had yet to close the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, site of one of the initial Covid-19 outbreaks. China only shared the virus's sequence with the World Health Organization on Jan. 11, 2020, according to U.S. government timelines of the pandemic.” You can read the full article here: https://www.wsj.com/world/china/chinese-lab-mapped-deadly-coronavirus-two-weeks-before-beijing-told-the-world-documents-show-9bca8865 4:10pm- Katherine Donlevy of The New York Post writes: “In a Wuhan-esque study, Chinese scientists are experimenting with a mutant COVID-19 strain that is 100% lethal to ‘humanized' mice.
