Over the past 50 years, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer professionals have organized to achieve greater inclusion into the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This inclusion, however, has come at a cost. In the 1970s, these professionals sought to radically transform STEM fields by confronting the homophobia and sexism embedded within them. Instead, these fields became more corporatized and privatized, and STEM institutions and workspaces—particularly in the spheres of government and business—became dominated by a focus on individualism, self-improvement/advancement, and meritocracy, which are hallmarks of neoliberalism. For many LGBTQ STEM professionals, inclusion now required becoming more apolitical, pro-capital, and focused on professional development. In Out Doing Science: LGBTQ STEM Professionals and Inclusion in Neoliberal Times (University of Massachusetts Press, 2025), Dr. Tom Waidzunas, Dr. Ethan Czuy Levine, and Dr. Brandon Fairchild explore this transformation of LGBTQ STEM professionals from oppositional outsiders to assimilationist insiders. Drawing on historical archives, oral interviews, and participant observation of professional societies and workspaces, the authors interrogate the meanings of “inclusion” and why some LGBTQ STEM professionals have benefited from it more than others. They also advocate for a “queer STEM” that challenges and transforms the racism, classism, sexism, cisheterosexism, and imperialism of these fields, institutions, and workspaces. Written in an accessible and engaging style, Out Doing Science will appeal to readers interested in LGBTQ studies, and science and technology studies, as well as anyone who wants to create a more diverse and inclusive work environment. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Mystical Messages
Good is AMAZING!

Mystical Messages

Mystical Messages host Hilary Harley discusses Good is Amazing, the new book by Heather Campbell, writer, CEO and motivational speaker.  Heather's purpose in life is to help people be seen, heard, and celebrated. As an engaging strategic expert, she's worked to open people up to possibilities, framing pathways for achievement, and igniting actions.  As co-founder of Ready Set Recover, and former senior executive at ESPN and Audacy, she intimately understands the toll of overachievement—and the liberation that comes from letting go. Good is Amazing challenges the culture of overachievement and champions the power of good.   What if striving to be “the best” is what's actually holding us back? In a world obsessed with unicorns, GOATs, and relentless self-improvement, Heather's book delivers a refreshing—and bold—reframe: good is not just enough—good is amazing.  Good is Amazing, Heather shares relatable, hilarious, and heartfelt moments from her life—like when her mom begged her to become President of the United States, or when an ESPN executive casually told her to “just make the book a New York Times bestseller.” These snapshots anchor a deeper message: the constant pressure to aim higher, do the most, and be the best is exhausting—and it's not working. “We're taught that “more” is always the goal,” Campbell says. “But this endless race is leaving us anxious, disconnected, and unhappy.” With wit, warmth, and wisdom, Campbell invites readers to consider a radical idea: What if stopping the chase for perfection and instead embracing good—the joy, simplicity, and genuine satisfaction it brings—is the real secret to success? Each chapter blends real talk, personal insight, and simple, actionable steps to help readers slow down, breathe, and reconnect with what really matters. Professionals, students, caregivers, entrepreneurs—anyone burdened by the relentless pursuit of perfection—will find powerful inspiration here.  Good is Amazing is available now online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.   Connect with Heather Campbell www.heatheracampbell.com   To reach Hilary Harley: www.hilaryharley.com http://www.hilaryharley.com/ Hilary@hilaryharley.com Facebook:  hilary harley. https://www.facebook.com/hilary.harley.3 hilary harley astrology https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057501487642  holistic healing https://www.facebook.com/hilaryharley714 Instagram:  hilary.harley https://www.instagram.com/hilary.harley

A new global challenge is looking for sustainable and innovative solutions to reinvent instrument transformers Arteche, a global manufacturer of electrical equipment with presence in over 127 countries, has joined forces with ennomotive, the leading engineering innovation platform, to improve the sustainability of instrument transformers. Arteche's instrument transformers, widely used in power grids around the world, use an insulation system based on paper impregnated with dielectric oil. This is a technically efficient solution, with decades of proven reliability, but it brings an environmental challenge: During manufacturing, to properly impregnate the insulating paper, an "excess" volume of oil is needed, and it remains "free" in the equipment. Seeking innovative solutions Through this open challenge, Arteche and ennomotive invite solvers and tech. companies from around the world to propose innovative solutions that significantly reduce or eliminate free oil in Transformers. Proposals may include new insulating materials, alternative technologies, or modifications to manufacturing processes to achieve these goals. A call looking for global engineering talent This challenge is open to engineers, startups, technology centres, and universities worldwide with experience in electrical design, insulating materials, electrical equipment development, and industrial sustainability. Arteche, the seeker, offers cash prizes for the top proposals submitted by individual solvers, and funding for selected companies to conduct a pilot, in addition to becoming a part of its innovation ecosystem. Professionals and organisations interested in participating must register at ennomotive.com, join the Arteche challenge, and submit their proposals before July 27th, 2025. More information: https://www.ennomotive.com/challenge/reducing-or-replacing-excess-oil-in-instrument-transformers/ About Arteche https://www.arteche.com Arteche is a Spanish multinational company and a leader in the electrical sector. Its core business is the manufacturing and commercialisation of measuring transformers, among other products. The company has factories and research centres in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Arteche's priorities focus on developing an efficient, reliable, and sustainable power transmission and distribution network, aligned with the challenges of the energy transition. Key focus areas include: The use of digital technologies. Asset and data management, including digital twins. The design and development of innovative equipment. The sustainability of its products. About ennomotive https://www.ennomotive.com ennomotive is the leading open innovation platform that connects companies with engineers and startups from all over the world to solve technology and engineering challenges. There is a terrifying Divine Threat which Jesus gives to those who may add to the “Words of the prophecy of this book” or may take away from the “Words of the book of this prophecy.” God will in the future take away his or her part from the tree of life and from the holy city. Those who manipulate, distort, twist, add, and take away from the words of the Spirit will be erased from the Lamb's book of life. Since the Professionals blatantly ignore the Code in favor of their theological viewpoints, there will be many to whom God will add the plagues that were caused to be written in the book of Revelation. This is a threat that seems largely ignored. But as we have learned, God always does what He says, it is just a matter of time.Download Transcript

Welcome to another episode of Women Petprenuers Presents Family Readiness Podcast! In today's episode, hosts Mary Oquendo and Kate Klasen, dive into two important topics every pet professional should have on their radar: disaster preparedness and peer support in the grooming industry. First, Mary shares actionable steps for preparing your business for the unexpected—from setting up cloud-based folders for vital documents and photos, to building a simple (and, yes, laminated) checklist that can secure your insurance, receipts, and records before disaster ever strikes. If you've wondered how to be truly ready when things go sideways, you'll want to grab a notepad for this one. Despite decades of effort and innovation since the groundbreaking To Err is Human report over 25 years ago, preventable harm in healthcare persists, and violence against healthcare workers continues to rise. With record understaffing, burnout, mandatory overtime, and mounting documentation demands, the pressure to provide safe care has never been higher nor the stakes more urgent. In this first episode of our new series focusing on safety in healthcare, we explore a bold shift toward "total systems safety" with two leaders at the forefront of this movement who know these challenges all too well. Patricia McGaffigan, RN, MS, CPPS, Senior Advisor for Patient and Workforce Safety at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and President of the Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety, and Donald Berwick, MD, MPP, FRCP, President Emeritus and Senior Fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and former Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Together, they continue to shape national safety efforts including IHI's Safer Together: National Action Plan to Advance Patient Safety the first public-private collaboration of its kind. Spearheaded by McGaffigan and bringing together 27 major organizations that had never collaborated before. The plan aims to restructure the very foundation of healthcare, building safety into every level of the system around four interlocking pillars. Leadership & Governance: Strong, visible leadership and policies that make safety a strategic priority. Workforce Safety & Well-Being: Protecting nurses and healthcare workers – physically and mentally – so they can care safely for others. Patient & Family Engagement: Partnering with patients and family caregivers as co-designers of safe care. Learning Systems: Creating feedback loops and continuous improvement so lessons from one hospital spread everywhere.   At the heart of this movement is a truth long understood by nurses: safety is not a checklist or a policy, it's a culture, a commitment, and a collective responsibility. As Patricia McGaffigan reminds us, “You can't have patient safety if you don't have a safe workforce.” And as Don Berwick warns, “The illusion that safety is a matter of individual effort is one of the most toxic notions in the whole safety enterprise. It is we, not me.” Nurses have always led by example, holding space for healing while navigating broken systems. Now, their leadership is essential in building the future of healthcare safety: one that protects not only patients, but the people who care for them. Where healthcare is not only safer, but also is a culture that ensures we're all Safer Together.
