In honor of Halloween in just a few days - and spurred by our recent NIGHTMARE ON ELMSTREET 2 watch - this week on a halloween-themed bonus episode of THE BIG 4-0 we take a look at the technical final FRIDAY THE 13th film in the original series/timeline, 2002's JASON X, where they actually do the joke and send Jason into space; as well as the following year's FREDDY VS JASON, in which the titular horror icons finally face-off in the long-gestating/clamored-for-by-fans showdown. This one went under the radar for me and I stumbled upon it when searching for something scary to watch last week, well joke's on me because this is some good Christmas Horror that you need to catch | Vicious | Polly receives a mysterious box that comes with instructions to place three things inside: something you need, something you hate, and something you love. What begins as a strange ritual quickly unravels into a waking nightmare as she becomes trapped in a terrifying world where reality bends and memory betrays. As time slips away, she must confront the darkness not just around her, but within her, before it consumes everything and everyone she's ever known.

There was a bit of a bidding war when an upcoming writer called Kevin Williamson penned an idea called Scary Movie. It'd change its name to Scream a little way down the road, but having been inspired by a creepy night when he was housesitting, Williamson went with a lower offer, and the company most likely to actually make the film. The problem? Nobody wanted to direct Scream. At first, including the man who did. The brothers Strause meanwhile had huge successes in visual effects, and made their directorial debut with the, er, 'less successful' Aliens Vs Predator - Requiem. For their next film as directors? In this episode it was Jef's turn to pick a movie for the crew to watch and chat about, Brian and Josh figured after their stinky picks recently Jef was going to elevate the situation and pick a good movie. Well Jef decided it was only fair to stoop to their level and dig into the dumpster for a nice ripe one. Of course he would never just do any old thing, he will always make sure there are at the very least good actors attached to his pick. He was not wrong, he chose 1995's "Hideaway" starring Jeff Goldblum, Alicia Silverstone, Jeremy Sisto, Rae Dawn Chong and Alfred Molina! A whole stack of somebodies! Alas even with all that star power, Hideaway might be best appreciated by those that saw it when it came out, or  who knows maybe it is your future favorite movie? Either way The FM3 dig into it and come out the other side forever touched by Heaven and Hell, and revived and ready for the next episode. So win win? Enjoy!
