POPULARITY
In this inspiring and deeply personal episode, Cheryl Hickey, the beloved former co-host of Entertainment Tonight Canada, takes us beyond the glitz of red carpets and celebrity interviews to share her remarkable journey from a small town to the national spotlight. With warmth and honesty, Cheryl reflects on the moments that shaped her. She navigated challenges and a health scare, embraced personal transformations, and celebrated the joys and lessons of motherhood. She opens up about life after the spotlight, how she's redefining success on her terms, and why she's more excited than ever about what comes next.
It is a privilege to welcome indie pop sensation (and fellow Kansas Citian) Lily Kincade to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Lily's unique approach to fan engagement, characterized by her boundless charisma and savvy yet sincere use of social media, has formed an incredible bond with her fans over the years. Unlike some artists who take offense at comparisons, Lily Kincade embraces them as a way of connecting with her fans, most of whom grew up idolizing the same stars she does (namely Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift). By populating her social media feeds with covers and memes of songs that her fanbase has known for years, Lily manages to create an in-language with her followers. This devotion to curating community amongst her listeners is what truly sets Kincade apart; she has a Discord page where she regularly shares jokes and edits with her fans, as well as a weekly "mental health check-in Monday" that has become something of a ritual with her 64,000 plus Instagram followers. In addition to Lily's mental health advocacy, her music has been noticed by various media outlets. Audacy, Entertainment Tonight Canada, MTV, PopCrush, and Rolling Stone have profiled her, and the Recording Academy invited Lily to perform on the Grammys' website. On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Lily Kincade spoke about her Grammys website performance and shared stories behind several songs.Let's connect on social media! Ben Stager of The Canadian Entertainment Podcast is back with some adjustments to the podcast and a brand new attitude and outlook. There is way less exposition on this episode and just a lot more Canadian Entertainment discussions. We discuss: Entertainment Tonight Canada and this meme Ben made, Star Trek holding the Canadian Entertainment Industry together, The Bruins Trekkie Movement and the issues in the movement right now, hockey and how that is the meat of The Canadian Entertainment Umbrella, and we also discuss of course: April Wine. This one is better than the previous one in our opinion. Thank you for listening.

We had an incredibly honest (and fun) conversation with Canada's Sweetheart and friend, Cheryl Hickey, host of Entertainment Tonight Canada. Cheryl received more no's than yeses on the road to becoming who she is today and shares the realization that what you put out is what you get back. A lesson her mom taught her a long time ago. A valuable takeaway in an industry that, in the beginning, can be competitive and messy. Cheryl has interviewed powerful celebrities in Hollywood including Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Swift, Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey. She works closely with Toronto's SickKids Foundation and with Plan International Canada, an organization dedicated to advancing children's rights and equality for girls in over 75 countries across the globe. Listen as she tells us the story of chasing a boy to Australia, spoiler alert, not her husband and the blind date that, spoiler alert, became her husband. EPISODE 31 - EXTERNAL Version for Non-Spotify Listeners JD Fortune Shares His Riches With Us - Pretty Vegas and Drift Away Two songs from JD Fortune - Pretty Vegas - written during the filming of Rock Star: INXS and JD's Solo Song Drift Away Rock Star: INXS Fortune was living in his car, under a bridge, when he applied for and was selected as a contestant on CBS's TV show Rock Star: INXS. On September 20, 2005, after an eleven-week televised audition process, Fortune won and joined INXS INXS, with Fortune, released their album Switch in November 2005. Three singles from the album were released over the next twelve months including the track "Pretty Vegas" which was co-written by Fortune and INXS's Andrew Farriss, amongst others. The week of February 25, 2006, "Pretty Vegas" reached its highest charting at Number 7 on the Billboard Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks. On February 16, 2009, Fortune revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada that INXS fired him from the band with a handshake at a Hong Kong airport. Fortune admitted to heavy cocaine use during the latest INXS tour and acknowledged that his drug habit had likely contributed to INXS's decision. Fortune stated he had been off cocaine for the past 2 years; at the time, he was living out of his car and had put all his remaining money into his solo album The Death of a Motivational Speaker. Former INXS manager and now record company head Chris Murphy responded at the time by saying that Fortune had never been fired by the band, but that the band was reluctant to continue working with him because of the drug-use allegations. Producent Siri Hill. Exekutiv producent Hanna Frelin. Tekniker Fredrik Nilsson. Programmet görs av produktionsbolaget Tredje Statsmakten Media.Medverkande: Effie Karabuda, Mia Arias Tsang och Joachim Voss Sundell.Som källor har använts artiklar om och intervjuer med Grimes i Sydney Morning Herald, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Chicago Tribune, Rolling Stone, The Independent, The Fader, ABC News, The Guardian, The New York Times, NPR, Billboard, Headliner, Dont Die Wondering, Entertainment Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, DIY Magazine, Medium, ABC Australia, The Independent, CBC och The Things.Ljudklipp i dokumentären kommer från: Lex Fridman Podcast, The Zane Lowe Interview Series, Entertainment Tonight Canada, Youtube-kanalen lok, The Interview Show with David Scott, POOF! Mother’s Day is approaching and today, we’re going to look at some of the science that makes mothers who they are and how we can support them every day of the year. We start off the show with one of Canada’s best-known personalities, Sangita Patel. She’s a Senior Entertainment Reporter for Entertainment Tonight Canada and the newest Canadian spokesperson for Cover Girl. She’s also a mother to two amazing daughters. We discuss the challenges of having a successful career in television and her life as a mom and how mothers everywhere can learn to find a balance. We then talk with Liisa Galea of the University of British Columbia. She studies the neuroscience of motherhood and reveals to us that the concept of baby brain is real. But don’t let that fool you into thinking you can get away with antics. As Liisa explains, as the kids grow up, the maternal brain get sharper and even better at memory. Our next guest explores the psychology of motherhood and the need for support throughout her life. She is Suniya Luthar and she explains that being a mother is a significant challenge, even if you are not trying to balance work and home life. Having the right support can make the difference between a mother who is happy and one who is subject to depression. In our SASS class, we’re going to explore a tactic almost every mother uses on her kids: the guilt trip. We talk with Wendy Rote at the University of South Florida and learn that using guilt may indeed be a great way to raise fantastic kids. If you enjoy The Super Awesome Science Show, please take a minute to rate it on Apple Podcasts and be sure to tell a friend about the show. Thanks to you, we’ve been nominated for a Canadian Podcast Award as Outstanding Science and Medicine Series. Let’s keep the awesome momentum going together!
