As a high school football standout, he was awarded a full ride college scholarship. Unfortunately, injuries cut his football playing days short, which led to his entry in to the entertainment industry. In 1989, Bubba was called upon by his mentor Earl Gabbidon to provide personal protection to Country/Western singer Dolly Parton while she performed concerts throughout Arizona. Bubba toured with Pop duo Milli Vanilli on their West Coast portion of their tour. With gaining such a positive reputation in the entertainment industry for executive protection, Bubba was then recruited by the mega pop group New Kids On The Block as Jordan Knight's personal bodyguard from 1989-1994. He continued working with Jordan until 2005, even doubling as his Tour Manager as well. In 2006, Bubba decided to retire from the road after touring the world with numerous musical artists; groups and being the Tour Manager for Reggae group Morgan Heritage. Bubba made his first appearance on New Kids On The Block "Step by Step" music video as the drummer; which led to three additional music videos with NKOTB. He was also seen in NKOTB 1990 Pay Per View special "No More Games Live", and in the Disney MGM Studio's NFL Super Bowl Special "NKOTB Wildest Dreams" on NBC in 1991. In 1995 he made his film debut, when longtime friend Steve "Biscuit" Walker who was the original bodyguard for NKOTB and later solo Rap star asked if Bubba was interested in playing his bodyguard in a Feature Film "A Texas Payback". This is where Bubba caught the acting bug. He went on to be featured on NBC's "Unsolved Mysteries" as legendary music mogul Marion "Suge" Knight. The episode was dedicated to Tupac Shakur's murder in Las Vegas. In 1997, Bubba was featured in the film version of the UK's longtime running soap opera "Coronation Street-Viva Las Vegas". He also found love in the theater where he portrayed Pvt. C.J. Memphis in a "Soldier's Story" and the voice of Audrey II the plant in a a stage production of "A Little Shop of Horrors". After a time away from acting, Bubba was called on once again to play himself in Spike TV's reality show "The Club". The show dealt with the everyday happenings in the nightclub business in Las Vegas. Bubba returned to Hollywood in 2009 after making his return to the big screen in the film "Middle Men". Bubba also completed two other films as well "Columbus Circle" and "Our Family Wedding", where he played opposite Forrest Whittaker and Carlos Mencia as the Mountainist where he had his first fight scenes. What's up science-fiction fans? We're back with another special one off episode of Topicocalypse. Josh is following up his review of the Black Panther with another review of the new Alex Garland film Annihilation, which stars Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny and Gina Rodriguez. Unfortunately, Forrest Whittaker wasn't in this one, but hey, you can't win them all, right? Anyway, in this review I'm going to go sort of in-depth with the story and really in-depth with the both the storytelling and technical aspects of the film. Annihilation is probably the most beautiful film that I just didn't get. Don't forget . . . you can find us on social media at Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Welcome Snobs! Are you one with the Force? Is the Force with you? Speaking of the Force, are your midichlorians high? Are they through the roof? Are you a potential Darth? If you answered Yes to any of these questions, you MUST listen to this Snob. Rogue One is a movie about a space ship. But that's not all! It's also about an orphan girl who dies, her friend (with whom you think she might have a romantic connection) who dies, a guy named Saw, and a blind man who dies. Sorry Listener, we have spoiled the film! But alas, if you listen to this episode, you shall discover more than you ever could! Sean and Matt are joined by friend and fellow Snob, Adam. Adam is a librarian and brings to the Snobbing table a sense of the value of information and textual interpretation. He also brings his knowledge about Queer interpretation of characters in Star Wars, which takes our Snobs on an intellectual endeavor stronger than the Force. Finally, Adam brings a general dislike of John Boyega. Taking place just before Episode 4, Rogue One is a movie about Saw. Just kidding, it's about the Death Star, a really big ball that can blow up cities, even planests, even robot men named Saw. Jyn (Martini) Erso and her band of misfits and Force Fanboys must discover and transmit secret plans about the Death Ball to the Rebel Alliance so that the evil Darth Jake Lloyd can later be defeated. Join these three Snobs as they appreciate aspects of Rogue One, including that the main characters died, that Forrest Whittaker's name is Saw, and that the blind Force Fanboy is likely gay. From the looks of it, there can never be a Rogue Two. It is a plot impossibility. But as we have learned, nothing is impossible with Disney, especially when hundreds of millions of dollars serve as motivation. 1: intro of our guest 3:30: Rogue One 45: Gay Chirrut 49:30 : John Boyega/Finn/Poe 1:05: CGI Tarkin 1:23: Darth Plageius , and Reddit “Place” 1:30: The elaborate hoax of Boyega and the unspoken truth of Darth Maul 1:32: Star Wars as a Christian allegory 1:45: Final thoughts on Boyega and his potential gayness 1:48: Darth Vader’s BDSM 1:53: Is Disney the evil Empire?
What do you suppose the ‘M’ in M. Night Shayamalan stands for? Turns out it’s Manoj. Not so impressive, is it? You know what else wasn’t as impressive as we had initially thought? His 2016 movie, ‘Split’ starring That Dude from ‘Xmen’ and ‘The Last King of Scotland’. Speaking of the latter, that movie also starred Hollywood’s favourite wall-eyed Mulligan, Forrest Whittaker. Suffice it to say, Chris is not a fan. Also featured in this episode: The cross-country adventures of Chris, varying degrees of homelessness, controversial opinions on mental health and a delightful recipe for surf and turf gumbo. Join Scott and his guests, Hamish and Paul, as they analyze every frame of the latest offering from the Star Wars franchise: the teaser trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"! Listen as they discuss how the premise for this film had been hidden in plain sight within A New Hope the whole time, and how the genesis of this movie was nothing more than a quick pitch from a longtime Lucas Film employee. They'll discuss the many rumors surrounding Felicity Jones' character, Jyn Erso, if Diego Luna is playing Poe Dameron's father, if Darth Vader will make an appearance, where Forrest Whittaker, Donny Yen, and Wen Jiang's characters fit into the story, if Palpatine, Snoke, or someone else is inside of that glowing column, if Alan Tudyk is playing a converted Empire droid, and much, much more! From new characters and locations to familiar ships and bases, they discuss it all! We are only a few months away from yet another Star Wars movie! We've got a bit of a shorter episode this week, with just a smidgen of news then we hit the Rogue One trailer. It gave us the Forrest Whittaker eye, so join us as we get right back into the swing of year-round Star Wars.
Naomie Harris (Jane), as well as working on big budget Hollywood Movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, continues to choose challenging and exciting roles in smaller and more diverse films such as THE FIRST GRADER. She and I had a great interview last week when her tour brought her to the San Francisco Bay Area for a preview screeening of her latest film at Landmark Embarcadero Center in San Francisco. London-born Naomie graduated with honours from Cambridge University in 1998 with a degree in social and political science. She went on to train at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and had her first major acting breakthrough in 2002 with Danny Boyle's zombie horror film 28 Days Later. She went on to receive further international recognition and critical acclaim in her role as Tia Dalma in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. Other major feature film credits include Michael Mann's Miami Vice, Michael Winterbottom's A Cock and Bull Story, and Street Kings with Keanu Reeves and Forrest Whittaker. Most recent feature film projects include: Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll with Andy Serkis; Ninja Assassin directed by James McTeigue; Julian Kemp's My Last Five Girlfriends: and, THE FIRST GRADER, written by Ann Peacock and directed by Justin Chadwick. Major television drama credits have included: Julian Jarrold's White Teeth, based on Zadie Smith's best-selling novel; Peter Kosminsky's The Project; Poppy Shakespeare, Blood and Oil and Small Island for the BBC.We close with the complete interview with Alrick Brown, director of the wonderful film Kinyarwanda, which had a successful screening at the 54th edition of the SFIFF.The film tells a seldom heard story of the Muslim community in Rwanda during the horrific100 days. They made the mosques sacred safe havens for those persecuted.

Ah yes, time for yet another episode of Rock and Reel. Despite some heavy-ish themes this week in the films and album we discuss, I'd call this our funniest episode yet. And this isn't by any means a stand-up comedy podcast. My guess is that Kevin and I were particularly punchy (i.e. drunk) when we recorded this, and as such there's a certain candidness that crosses a line or two throughout this episode. Here's what we cover:"Street Kings" may not be in very many first-run theatres currently, but it was when we recorded this a few weeks back, and with any luck you'll be able to find it in second-run theatres or on DVD in the next few months. If you're one of the people who has yet to see it, make sure you check out our review of the film as a means of attempting to discover if this film might be for you. Also, if you HAVE seen the movie, maybe give a listen and find out if you agree with our extra-long assessment of the film, which stars Keanu Reeves and Forrest Whittaker, among others. Our Album of the Week is from the band Foals and their debut record "Antidotes." It has some danceable qualities to it, along with a little bit of math rock stylings. If you don't know what "math rock" is, fear not for we attempt to define it during our review. Also, the song "Balloons" is contained in this segment, and at the very least I suggest you give that a listen and see if it's your cup of tea.We close things out with a new segment, simply titled "Pre-View Review," where we do the impossible and judge a book by its cover, or rather a film by its trailer. With the summer blockbuster season already in full gear, we tackle the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan film "The Happening" starring Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel. Did we like this entire film based upon the 2 minutes of carefully edited footage the studio put together for us? The fun part is that after the film gets released we'll follow up and give a legitimate review just to see how accurate we were in the end. The segment is a lot of fun, and I guarantee there will be more "Pre-View Reviews" in upcoming shows.Next episode is our comedy-themed show, with our reviews of the Judd Apatow-produced laugh-fest known as "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and the album by New Zealand's 4th most popular folk parody duo Flight of the Conchords. We'll also debut yet another new segment, appropriately titled "Please Kill Me Now," where we watch a really bad movie and then describe ways in which we'd rather be killed than watch it again.
