RSVP for Farnoosh's podcasting workshop next Friday Feb 13 here.In this Super Bowl weekend edition of Ask Farnoosh, she reflects on recent financial headlines and answers listener questions about saving, investing, family planning, and homebuying. She discusses the sharp drop in Bitcoin, rising layoffs, and a weakening stock market as reminders of the importance of maintaining a strong emergency fund and staying financially cautious. In the mailbag, she explains how to save for future goals even without a defined purpose, why entrepreneurs should diversify beyond their businesses when investing, and how prospective parents can prepare financially and create more time flexibility before having a child. She closes with practical homebuying advice drawn from two decades of personal experience, emphasizing that a first home need not be permanent, that buyers should understand their motivations and finances before searching, and that thoughtful preparation leads to more confident decisions in uncertain economic times. Many advisors are starting to ask the same question: Should I get a business partner?Burnout, isolation, and wearing every hat in the business has many wondering if teaming up is the answer. As long-time 50/50 business partners, Jennifer and Robin share what their partnership looks like behind the scenes and the questions most advisors aren't asking before entering an agreement that affects their brand, income, and future. They also reveal the financial model least likely to create tension and why many advisors may actually need support that could be solved by hiring, not partnering. If you've ever thought, “Maybe I just need a business partner,” this episode will help you pause, ask smarter questions, and think long term instead of reacting to what feels hard right now.Press play, then head to the Niche Community Resource Vault to download the Annual Business Audit worksheet and the Goal-setting worksheet → https://www.tiquehq.com/niche/?utm_source=Tique_Talks&utm_medium=Show_Notes&utm_campaign=Ep189&utm_content=NicheFOLLOW ALONG ON INSTAGRAM @TiqueHQ
Distinguishing aspiration from striving with ego, Joseph Goldstein gives listeners permission to have a sense of purpose along their spiritual path. This week on Insight Hour, Joseph Goldstein discusses:Having a sense of purpose within the impersonal nature of all things Aspiration: understanding why we are practicing What the Buddha said about purpose and aspiration on The Eightfold PathSeeing the world objectively without reference to the selfBeing a great faith follower versus a dharma followerResting in our practice and letting go of unhealthy striving Insight Meditation Society and its commitment to diversity Maintaining the right attitude and openness to all experiencesThis episode was recorded at the Insight Meditation Society Forest Refuge and originally published on Dharmaseed"The Buddha definitely laid out a goal. The Eightfold Path leads someplace—it's not just meandering around, not going any place. The Eightfold path is leading to awakening, to enlightenment. We can have that aspiration which sets the direction for our practice, we can say that is a sense of purpose, but we're seeing it not so much in terms of an egoful striving, but a realization of our values and what leads to the accomplishment of our values." – Joseph GoldsteinSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In today's episode of After Reality, I'm joined by my dad (your favorite) Papa Robertson for a February check-in—and some simple, practical ways to feel better now and keep that momentum going into the rest of the year.We talk about a few lifestyle goals that can make a big difference: choosing real, direct human communication, staying physically active, and tightening up finances by cutting those sneaky little daily expenses that add up fast. Papa also shares his go-to wellness advice—moderating alcohol, steering clear of overly processed foods, and taking a step back from the stress of the 24-hour news cycle. We also get into minimalism and doing an “energy audit”: focusing on the people and habits that lift you up, and letting go of the toxic stuff that drains you. And to wrap it all up, we lean into personal growth—reading classic books, spending more time in nature, and finding joy in new hobbies (yes, including Papa and his ukulele era). Hosted on Acast. Patrick Lencioni built a multimillion-dollar business, sold 10 million books, and became one of the most influential leadership voices in the world. But here's what you might not know: he never had a five-year plan, turned down opportunities to scale, and prioritized loving his work over maximizing revenue. In this episode, Pat shares the behind-the-scenes story of building The Table Group, why he kept his team at just 15 full-time employees while empowering thousands of consultants, and how saying no to growth actually gave him an unfair competitive advantage. You'll discover why his wife gave him their house fund to start the business, how he protects time with his family despite constant opportunities, and why one of their core values is "we want to love coming to work every day." This was never going to be a glamorous window, but certainly few would have expected such a twist. With Aston Villa hit by a cluster of midfield injuries at the worst possible time, this transfer catch-up looks at the merit of the triple signings of former players, that were originally signed by Dean Smith. Are we upgrading? Gambling? Or is it just damage limitation? The conversation centres on the loss of Kamara, Tielemans, and McGinn and why that trio underpins almost everything Villa do well. Defensive stability. Control. Goal contributions. Take all three out and you are not tweaking a system, you are protecting one. That context frames the return of Douglas Luiz, the intrigue around Tammy Abraham, and the pragmatic reality behind Leon Bailey's situation. None are presented as silver bullets. Why do nerves show up most when we care deeply about the outcome? In this episode, I explore why uncertainty — not lack of desire or discipline — is often the real trigger behind panic, overthinking, and what we call self-sabotage. I talk about the brain's need for predictability and feedback, why long-term goals are especially challenging in the “hard middle,” and how the absence of small wins can make uncertainty feel intolerable. If you've ever felt shaky, discouraged, or off your game while working toward something that really matters, this episode will help you understand why — and what actually helps.

This episode brings together some of the most honest moments across multiple conversations about leadership, money, faith, and personal growth. From struggling with scarcity even after financial wins, to realizing that businesses only grow as healthy as their leaders, this conversation goes deeper than tactics—it gets real. You'll hear raw reflections on leadership mistakes, why humor builds trust, and how abundance is something you learn, not something you earn. The episode also breaks down a powerful framework for wealth—from making money, to managing it, to multiplying it, and finally using it for impact. This isn't about hustle. It's about stewardship. Agile in Construction: Over-Commitment and Silence—The Deadly Duo Destroying Your Teams With Felipe Engineer-Manriquez Read the full Show Notes and search through the world's largest audio library on Agile and Scrum directly on the Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast website: http://bit.ly/SMTP_ShowNotes. "I don't think people are bad. They don't self-destruct because they're bad. What I do see is people getting crushed in terribly bad systems." - Felipe Engineer-Manriquez Felipe shares a powerful insight about team dysfunction: teams don't self-destruct because of bad people—they get crushed by broken systems. On a hospital construction project, he witnessed a dangerous pattern: over-commitment coupled with silence. People would commit to pouring concrete on Thursday when there wasn't even rebar in place—a physical impossibility. But psychological safety was so low that no one could say the emperor had no clothes. Felipe's approach? Ask obvious questions that break the pattern. "Don't you need this so you can do that?" This simple question, framed with verb-noun phrases, surfaces what cannot be spoken. He positions himself as "just a simple, dumb general contractor" who doesn't understand—creating safety for others to speak truth. The turning point comes when you slow down, make work visible, and allow people to say no. As Felipe puts it: "For real accountability, if people are not allowed to say no, then they actually can't make a real promise." Silence is not alignment, and saying yes in low-trust environments is actually hiding from accountability. In this segment, we talk about psychological safety and systems thinking in team dynamics. Self-reflection Question: When you see a team over-committing to impossible deadlines, what question could you ask that surfaces the truth without putting individuals at risk? Featured Book of the Week: The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt Felipe chose The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt as the most transformative book of his early lean career. He describes it as "the number one game changer"—a fictional story that teaches the Theory of Constraints in a way you can internalize. The famous "Herbie story" within the book illustrates how helping the slowest part of a process speeds up the entire system. Felipe emphasizes that Theory of Constraints is often skipped in Scrum training when classes run out of time, leaving many credentialed Scrum Masters without this essential knowledge. He uses these principles daily with the Last Planner System in construction—creating visual boards that look like Gantt charts (because construction loves schedules) but function like Scrum boards with days of the week instead of "to do, doing, done." So many photographers and filmmakers are doing all the “right” things and still feel stuck. You're booked, but not excited. Busy, but not progressing. Your goals feel safe. Too safe. And more often than not, that safety is rooted in fear. Fear of saying no. Fear of raising prices. Fear of outgrowing the market you're in. Fear of believing you're capable of more.In this episode, we talk about the shift from booking everything to booking intentionally. Why filling your calendar too early can limit your growth. How visibility, pricing, brand perception, and client experience all work together. And why raising your prices without increasing value almost always leads to frustration and stalled momentum. We share real examples from our own businesses and from the luxury and hospitality world to show why experience, not just talent, separates entry-level brands from premium ones. The small details. The order of operations. The refinement that comes from repetition. Growth isn't about flipping a switch. It's about building layer by layer and adjusting when something no longer fits. You are more capable than you think. You are not behind. And you're allowed to want more from your business than just staying booked. Momentum builds when you decide to go for it, even if you don't have it all figured out yet. What fears are holding you back from your next level right now?If you're ready to stop playing small and start building a business that actually supports the life you want, this episode is for you.00:00 - 04:30 | Setting the Stage: Goals, Growth Seasons & Looking Ahead04:31 - 10:30 | Booking vs. Opportunity: Scarcity, Calendar Control & Saying No10:31 - 17:45 | From Volume to Intentionality: Visibility, Pricing & Market Shifts17:46 - 22:45 | Raising Prices the Right Way: Value, Brand Perception & Experience22:46 - 30:30 | Luxury Client Experience: Hospitality, Etiquette & Industry Nuance30:31 - 34:45 | Second Shooting to Lead Shooter: Building Your Own Brand Authority34:46 - 37:45 | Long-Term Growth Mindset: Continuous Refinement & Staying in MotionThe next round of The Luxury Mastermind will start in Spring 2026! Why can't leaders win anymore? No matter what you say, someone's upset. In this conversation with Carey Nieuwhof, host of one of today's most influential leadership podcasts, we unpack why 49 hours a week on our phones has created 100 different experiences in a room of 100 people. From the woman who won't use plastic cutlery to why your weird uncle believes conspiracy theories, we explore how discipleship by algorithm is fragmenting society. We also talk about the false immediacy of social media, why high performers have the strongest inner critics, the Mount Rushmore of books we recommend, and what it takes to build relationships with people you admire without jumping levels of intimacy. Plus, Carey shares why the work is the reward, how he retaught himself to read books, and why he's pursuing mastery in his 60s. Are our kids actually becoming less capable thinkers, and if so, why does that matter? In this episode of Facing the Dark, Wayne Stender and Dr. Kathy Koch explore growing concerns about children's cognitive development, drawing on research from cognitive neuroscientist Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath. Together, they examine how increased screen use, especially in classrooms, may be reshaping how kids reason and learn. But this conversation goes deeper than test scores or IQ. Dr. Kathy reframes intellect as a muscle, one that fuels discernment, freedom, creativity, and wise decision making. They discuss why intelligence must be understood locally and relationally, not just nationally or digitally, and how parents can nurture thinking hearts by inviting kids into conversation, problem solving, boredom, and responsibility. Grounded in Solomon's prayer for a discerning heart, this episode reminds parents that raising intellectually capable kids isn't about academic pressure; it's about forming wise, free people who can love God with their minds and live faithfully in the world they're called to serve.
