How do you help someone whose chronic bloating, abdominal distension, digestive issues, hormone imbalance, and fatigue keep returning, even after working with multiple practitioners? In this episode of the Health Detective Podcast, Michele Scarlet sits down with FDN Practitioner Becca Chilczenkowski, co-owner of FitMom Functional Health, to break down one of her most complex Functional Diagnostic Nutrition case studies. Together, they explore how a woman struggling with severe bloating, recurring H. pylori, parasites, reflux, constipation, dermatitis, fibroids, weight gain, exhaustion, and hormone challenges finally experienced lasting Health Transformation through a layered, whole-body approach. Rather than chasing symptoms or relying on aggressive protocols, Becca explains why supporting Functional Health begins with restoring digestive capacity, improving stomach acid, bile flow, nutrient absorption, and immune resilience before introducing targeted Healing Protocols. She shares how Functional Lab Testing, blood work, and GI-MAP testing helped uncover hidden stressors driving chronic inflammation and why rebuilding the body's foundations produced long-term results. The conversation also explores Gut Health, Hormone Health, Functional Medicine, Root Cause Healing, digestive enzymes, HCl, ox bile, immune support, fasting strategies, metabolic flexibility, and the importance of nervous system regulation. Michele and Becca discuss why many women dealing with Chronic Illness, Burnout, bloating, and hormone issues often need less stress, not more exercise, and why personalized care consistently outperforms one-size-fits-all protocols. They also discuss collaborating with medical teams for hormone therapy and peptides while staying within the FDN scope of practice, highlighting how Health Coaching, Practitioner Education, and teamwork create better client outcomes. Whether you're a Functional Health Practitioner, Health Coach, FDN Practitioner, or someone searching for answers to chronic digestive and hormone challenges, this episode delivers practical insights into Root Cause Medicine, Functional Nutrition, and sustainable healing that lasts REGISTER NOW FOR THE BUSINESS BUILDER CHALLENGE⤵️ http://fdntraining.com/bbc

My guest Nicole Bell is the CEO of Galaxy Diagnostics and author of What Lurks in the Woods. She came to this work after her husband's Lyme disease — along with co-infections Bartonella and Babesia — was misdiagnosed as early-onset Alzheimer's. He passed away in 2022. In this episode, we talk about why the standard Lyme test misses so many people (hint: it's 30-year-old technology that relies on antibody detection from a pathogen that actively suppresses your immune system), what co-infections like Bartonella and Babesia actually do to the brain and body, and how Galaxy Diagnostics is using urine-based antigen testing and digital PCR to find what older tests can't. We also get into the myths that keep people from getting the right diagnosis — including why only 14% of Lyme patients get the classic bullseye rash, why Lyme is present in all 50 states, and why finishing a round of doxycycline doesn't mean you're in the clear. If you or someone you love is dealing with unexplained mood changes, cognitive decline, chronic fatigue, anxiety, or joint pain — this conversation is worth your full attention. If you've heard of the Autoimmune Protocol but felt like it was too restrictive to even try — or you've done it and wondered if you were doing it right — this episode is worth your time. I sat down with Mickey Trescott, one of the key people behind AIP, to talk about her new book The New AIP. We get into the actual clinical research (IBD, Hashimoto's, and RA studies), what the results really showed, and the newly formalized Modified AIP pathway that makes the protocol far more accessible than most people realize. We also bust the biggest myth about AIP — that it's just a restrictive diet — and talk about what the protocol actually involves beyond food, how long you should stay in elimination, when to troubleshoot if it's not working, and what the long game looks like when you're living with a chronic condition. Mickey also shares her own recent health setback — a new psoriatic arthritis diagnosis 15 years into her journey — and what she actually did about it. Practical, research-backed, and refreshingly honest. For the complete show notes, links and transcripts, visit inspiredliving.show/248

If you've been doing everything right and still feel exhausted, anxious, and like your body just won't cooperate — this episode is for you. I sat down with Dr. Scott Sherr, a board-certified internal medicine physician and COO of Troscriptions, to talk about the sympathetic spiral: a chronic fight-or-flight loop most people don't even know they're in. And here's what surprised me most — you don't have to feel stressed to be stuck in it. We get into why your cellular energy and your anxiety are locked in a loop, what mitochondrial dysfunction actually means for your daily life, and how a specific sequence of support can help you finally start feeling better. We also go deep on methylene blue — the history, how it works, the right dosing range, and the sourcing and safety details that most people skip (including who should absolutely not use it). Plus: why GABA deficiency is so common, how to calm your nervous system without sedating yourself, and why sleep is a full-day practice — not just a bedtime routine. AI is everywhere. Anyone can ask ChatGPT a health question and get an answer in two seconds. So why would a health coach bother writing a blog post? Because a blog that's built to convert clients is a completely different thing from the content your audience is already drowning in, and Jana Osofsky has spent years figuring out exactly how to build one. Jana joins Michelle to talk about the capsule blog: a library of 12 to 20 intentionally chosen posts built around what your potential clients need to hear before they're ready to say yes to your offer. They get into why most coaches are writing the wrong things entirely, how to use AI without having your blog sound like everyone else's, and why "you're not a blogger, you're a coach with a blog" might be the most important reframe for any growing health coaches. Jana and Michelle are also teaching a free live training on June 18th on exactly how to build your capsule blog and use it to sign clients on repeat. Could insulin resistance and chronic stress be the hidden drivers behind heart disease? Lisa Fischer welcomes Dr. Mel Icard for a powerful conversation about metabolic health, cholesterol myths, soft plaque, fasting insulin, and natural heart healing strategies. In this episode, Dr. Mel shares why she believes cholesterol has become a distraction in modern medicine and explains how inflammation, poor sleep, stress hormones, processed foods, and blood sugar instability contribute to cardiovascular problems. Lisa and Dr. Mel also explore intermittent fasting, detoxification, circadian rhythm habits, liver health, sauna therapy, and ways to naturally support energy, longevity, and prevention without relying solely on prescriptions. Whether you're trying to lower inflammation, improve your lab results, lose weight, or better understand heart health after 45, this episode delivers actionable wellness insights and a fresh perspective on aging and prevention.
Could your home be the reason you're not getting better?I sat down with Paul Kealey, founder of EcoBuilt, to talk about something most of us never think to question — the air inside our homes. Paul has spent nearly 25 years in construction, and what he shares might change how you see your living space entirely. We get into why new homes aren't automatically healthier (studies suggest over 25% have hidden mold inside the walls), how bedroom CO2 levels can hit 5x what's outside — quietly wrecking your sleep and your body's ability to detox overnight — and why "energy efficient" and "healthy" are not the same thing. Paul also walks through three tests any homeowner can run right now to find out if their home is working against them: a mold dust swab test, a CO2 and humidity monitor, and an energy audit. If you're dealing with an autoimmune condition, chronic fatigue, or symptoms that never quite have an explanation, this one is for you. Sunlight, circadian rhythm, and metabolic health may be the missing links in your wellness journey. In this eye-opening episode of the Lisa Fischer Said Podcast, Lisa Fischer sits down with blood sugar specialist Dani Hamilton to unpack the surprising science behind sunlight, vitamin D, fasting, metabolism, and mitochondrial health. Dani explains why our bodies thrive on natural light, how modern indoor living disrupts our biology, and why timing your meals with the sun could completely change your energy, sleep, and weight loss results. You'll also hear fascinating conversations about seasonal eating, blue light exposure, sunscreen myths, circadian rhythms, cortisol, fasting for women, and why your skin tone and ancestry matter more than you think when it comes to sunlight exposure. If you've ever questioned conventional health advice or wondered why you feel better outside, this episode will completely shift your perspective.

If you have autoimmune disease, you've probably been told to keep an eye on your bone density number. But here's the thing — that number only predicts fractures in about 44% of women with osteoporosis. Most of what's actually driving your fracture risk isn't showing up on that scan. I brought Dr. John Neustadt back to talk about his newly expanded book, Fracture-Proof Your Bones, and this conversation goes well beyond what we covered last time. We get into how gut inflammation — the kind that comes with autoimmunity, leaky gut, Crohn's, or celiac — directly triggers bone loss through inflammatory cytokines that activate the cells that break down bone. We also talk about the medications most doctors aren't warning you about (SSRIs, prednisone, PPIs) and how they're silently destroying bone tissue. Plus: what your diet is actually doing to your skeleton, a simple 10-second balance test that predicts fracture risk better than a bone scan, the surprising link between oxytocin and your osteoblasts, and which routine labs to ask for that most people never get. People with autoimmune disease face a 200–400% increased fracture risk. That's the reality — but there's a lot you can do about it. You left your career, your title, your salary. Maybe your window office. And now you're sitting there with a health coaching certification, wondering what comes next and why it feels so disorienting. Spoiler: the hardest part had nothing to do with money. She breaks down the identity shift that blindsides so many career changers, why your previous experience makes you more valuable as a coach, not less, and the single moment that finally made her believe in herself. She also shares the mistake almost every career changer makes when they come out of health coaching school, and what to do instead if you actually want to build a business. Your microbiome could be the missing link behind Parkinson's disease, chronic inflammation, sugar cravings, constipation, and more. In this fascinating episode of the Lisa Fischer Said Podcast, Lisa sits down with microbiome researcher and entrepreneur Martha Carlin to unpack the surprising connection between gut health, brain health, and chronic disease. After her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's at just 44 years old, Martha began a decades-long journey into the science of the gut microbiome, probiotics, stool testing, and the toxic burden affecting modern health. They discuss the gut-brain axis, dopamine, constipation as an early warning sign of disease, probiotics, fecal transplants, red light therapy, sunlight exposure, and why your daily bowel habits may predict your long-term health. Martha also shares how dietary changes dramatically improved her husband's symptoms and how her research led to groundbreaking discoveries in microbiome science.
In this episode, Phillip S Newby shares his transformative journey in cycling and nutrition, highlighting the importance of strength training and dietary changes. He discusses the impact of these changes on his cycling performance, energy levels, and overall quality of life. Phillip emphasizes the role of family dynamics and faith in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and encourages others to embrace coaching as a means to improve their health and well-being.
I sat down with Karen "ZuZu" Ziemer Armes — holistic health educator, author, and founder of Lilly Fields Retreat Center — who reversed her own epilepsy in her early 20s using food alone. In this conversation, we get into the four electrical systems your body runs on (and why most people have never heard of them), how mineral deficiencies silently drive chronic illness, why EMF exposure is one of the most overlooked culprits behind chronic symptoms, and what you can actually do about all of it — starting today. ZuZu has been teaching this stuff for over 30 years. She's practical, direct, and brings receipts — including live blood cell analysis that shows mold, parasites, and gut toxins circulating in real patients' blood. Davis describes assessing adrenal and metabolic stress via saliva testing for circadian cortisol patterns, cortisol-DHEA balance, sex hormones, secretory IgA, and melatonin, emphasizing clinical correlation and individualized “studies of one.” He outlines an approach targeting multiple “healing opportunities” (H-I-D-D-E-N: hormones, immune, digestion, detoxification, energy, nervous system) and applying D-R-E-S-S (diet, rest, exercise, stress reduction, supplementation) rather than relying on supplements alone. A case example links chronic hives, medication-related weight gain, and food triggers identified through additional testing, including the Mediator Release Test. The discussion also covers stress-driven gut dysbiosis, digestion decline, and EFT tapping for stress-related symptoms, and notes FDN practitioners can be found via FDNtraining.com/medicine.
What if your fatigue, poor sleep, hormone imbalance, and stubborn weight gain all traced back to one hidden health disruptor: artificial light? In this eye-opening episode of the Lisa Fischer Said Podcast, Lisa Fischer sits down with Shannon Kates to unpack the shocking connection between circadian rhythm, sunlight, blue light exposure, hormones, metabolism, sleep, and mitochondrial health. Shannon explains why modern indoor living may be damaging our energy, disrupting cortisol and melatonin, and increasing inflammation — and how simple daily light routines can radically improve health. You'll learn why morning sunlight matters, how artificial lighting impacts your skin and thyroid, the truth about sunscreen and vitamin D, why timing your meals affects sleep and fat burning, and how grounding and natural light may be the missing pieces in your wellness journey. I sat down with Dr. Alice Honican — naturopath, acupuncturist, and bioenergetic practitioner at Longevity Health Center in Roswell, Georgia — to talk about a diagnostic approach that's been quietly getting results for decades but most people have never come across. Dr. Honican grew up in a naturopathic household, has been working with chronic and autoimmune patients since 2003, and uses three specific tools in her clinic: bio-energetic testing (the Quest 4), computer regulation thermography, and a bioterrain urinalysis. Together, they help identify — and prioritize — what's actually driving someone's condition, whether that's Lyme, mold, Epstein-Barr, leaky gut, or something else entirely. We also get into why patients who do "everything right" with their diet can still end up reacting to healthy foods, how to use binders and herbs without overwhelming your system, and what post-COVID is actually looking like in practice right now. If you've been through rounds of testing without clear answers, this one is worth a listen. For the complete show notes, links and transcripts, visit inspiredliving.show/243
You're posting, creating freebies, running workshops, doing the stuff. And still not gaining traction. The problem usually isn't effort. It's that all those efforts aren't working together. In this episode, Michelle breaks down the 3-part client flow she developed through years of trial and error in her own health coaching practice, designed so that each effort feeds the next. She also shares the hard lesson she learned after spending a year building a big, engaged audience that never spent a dime, and why finding proven demand before you build anything is the whole game. In this powerful episode, Lisa Fischer sits down with Dr. Amie Hornaman to uncover why so many women are still misdiagnosed, dismissed, or improperly treated for thyroid conditions. From rapid weight gain and medical gaslighting to ineffective treatments like T4-only medications, Dr. Amie shares her personal journey and the science behind what actually works. You'll learn why standard care often fails, the critical role of T3, and how to advocate for yourself when doctors won't listen. They also dive into the connection between thyroid health, hormones, metabolism, and even autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto's and PCOS. If you've ever been told "your labs are normal" but still feel exhausted, this episode will open your eyes—and give you actionable solutions to finally feel like yourself again.
Kyle Hulbert was a college athlete who slept nine hours a night, ate clean, and still watched his health collapse — anxiety, depression, joint pain, gut issues, unexplained weight gain. Six doctors either told him he was making it up or couldn't find anything wrong. What finally changed things? A mercury diagnosis, chelation therapy, and getting his testosterone (which was at 159 — yes, really) properly addressed. Not another supplement. Not a cleanse. In this episode, Kyle and I talk about why untargeted detox protocols can make autoimmune symptoms significantly worse, why cilantro smoothies and juice cleanses can actually backfire if you have a real toxic burden, and what a smart, tested approach actually looks like. We also get into why roughly 1 in 3 people are dealing with a toxic load that clean eating and movement alone won't fix — and the order of operations that matters when you're trying to heal. Fertility struggles, PMS, and hormonal chaos—what if the real solution has been overlooked? In this powerful episode, Lisa Fischer sits down with women's health innovator Kirsten Karchmer to unpack the root causes of infertility and why modern medicine often misses the mark. Kirsten shares how symptoms like PMS, irregular cycles, and low energy are not random—they're signals your body is sending. You'll learn how to decode your cycle, improve egg quality naturally, and why a "conceivable cycle" could be the key to getting—and staying—pregnant. Kirsten also reveals how her groundbreaking platform is making women's health more accessible, personalized, and affordable. If you've ever felt dismissed, confused, or frustrated by your health journey, this episode offers clarity, empowerment, and actionable insight.

If you've ever been told your labs look fine while feeling terrible, this one's for you. I sat down with Dr. Anju Mathur, a board-certified anti-aging and regenerative medicine physician who's spent nearly two decades figuring out what conventional medicine misses. She walks us through her 3-pillar framework for finding the real root causes of chronic illness—the things in your body that shouldn't be there, the things that should be there but aren't, and the things that are just out of balance. We also dig into what bioidentical hormones actually are (spoiler: they're not the same as "natural" hormones or Premarin), the very real risks of psychiatric drugs being handed out for everything from migraines to anxiety, and how she helps patients safely get off medications they don't need. Dr. Mathur also shares her own story of being a practicing MD with "normal" labs while barely able to function—and what finally turned it around. Chronic illness, sleep issues, and inflammation—are you treating symptoms or the root cause? In this powerful episode of Lisa Fischer Said, Lisa sits down with Dr. Kelly McCann to unpack why conventional medicine often misses the bigger picture. They explore functional medicine, environmental toxins, and how trauma, hormones, and lifestyle all play a role in chronic illness. Dr. McCann shares how conditions like autoimmune disease, poor sleep, and fatigue may stem from hidden triggers like mold, Lyme disease, and nervous system dysregulation—not just bad luck or genetics. If you've ever felt stuck in a cycle of prescriptions without real answers, this conversation offers a new lens—and real hope—for healing from the inside out.

What if your body's repair system isn't broken, it's just been put to sleep? In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Dan Pardi, Chief Health Officer at Qualia Life Sciences and a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from Leiden University and Stanford. We get into what stem cells actually are, why they decline with age, and — most importantly — what you can do about it starting today. Dan explains why stem cell exhaustion is one of the 15 hallmarks of aging, and why the real problem isn't that you're running out of stem cells, it's that the environment they live in becomes too inflamed and damaged for them to activate. We talk about the everyday habits that support your stem cell niche (sleep, sunlight, walking, circadian rhythms), the science behind Qualia's new Stem Cell product and its four-day monthly protocol, and how to stack it with their senolytic and NAD products for a more complete healthspan strategy. I also share my own experience with autologous stem cell therapy — and why I believe what you do daily matters more than any single treatment. Budgeting doesn't have to feel restrictive—what if it actually gave you freedom? In this energizing episode of Lisa Fischer Said, Lisa sits down with Budget Besties Shana and Vanessa to completely reframe how you think about money. Forget confusing spreadsheets and shame-filled spending habits—this conversation introduces a simple, visual, and modern budgeting system anyone can follow. Shana and Vanessa break down why most people fail at budgeting (hint: it's not your fault), and how their "bougie on a budget" philosophy helps you spend confidently without guilt. They walk through their 5-column system, explain how to digitize the classic cash envelope method, and reveal how automation can turn your bank into your personal assistant. Whether you're overwhelmed by debt, tired of guessing where your money goes, or ready to align your spending with your lifestyle, this episode gives you a clear, actionable path forward.
A health coach recently donated a three-month coaching package to a school auction. Not one person bid on it, even after they dropped the price to $150. If you've been hearing my warnings that nobody wants health coaching, this is exactly what I'm talking about. In this episode, I'm getting honest about why health coaches struggle to get clients, even when they have a great niche, a program, a newsletter, and a heart of gold. Inside this episode: Why "wellness that lasts" and "peace with food" aren't things people will pay for The real reason your messaging isn't landing (it's not you, it's the promise) Why another certification won't solve your client problem How health coaches have been trained to make themselves smaller and smaller What needs to change about the way you talk about your work Grab The Good Niche at a special listeners-only rate: https://HealthCoachPower.com/GoodNiche Connect with me: Facebook group: https://HealthCoachPowerCommunity.com/ Website: https://HealthCoachPower.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/HealthCoachPowerCommunity/
Do you have a habit like smoking or late night snacking that you want to kick, but no matter what you try, you just can't seem to quit? The answer isn't weakness, and it isn't a lack of motivation.
