How can pharmaceutical, MedTech, and life sciences companies structure global operations capable of supporting sustainable international growth, regulatory consistency, and successful market integration?Global expansion is no longer only a commercial opportunity. For companies operating in highly regulated sectors, entering and integrating international markets requires strategic coordination between regulatory affairs, quality systems, supply chain management, local partnerships, risk governance, and operational execution. In this episode of International Pharma Talks, Dr. Diogo Sousa-Martins, Founder and President of ELS Group, explores the strategic role of Global Operations Management and the practical approaches companies should consider when expanding across different jurisdictions. The discussion examines how organizations can move from fragmented international activity to structured, resilient, and coherent global operations. You will gain a clearer understanding of:How global operations management supports international expansion in regulated healthcare sectors; Why regulatory alignment and local adaptation must work together when entering new markets; How supply chain visibility, traceability, and operational coordination reduce disruption and improve resilience; Why risk management, scenario planning, and diversified sourcing are essential in multinational operations; How harmonization frameworks, quality systems, local partners, and advisory support can help companies integrate markets more effectively. For pharmaceutical, MedTech, healthcare, cosmetics, food, and other life sciences companies, internationalization requires more than identifying market potential. It requires the ability to connect strategy, compliance, quality, logistics, and execution into one coherent operational model. When global operations are poorly structured, companies may face regulatory setbacks, supply chain disruption, increased costs, inconsistent quality, delayed market access, and loss of competitiveness. When they are properly designed, global complexity can become a source of resilience, operational predictability, and sustainable growth.Tune in to understand how practical Global Operations Management strategies can help companies integrate international markets, strengthen cross-border execution, and build scalable operations capable of supporting long-term success.Learn more at: https://www.els-solutions.com/This episode was recorded in 2026. Recorded live at ICBC Berlin 2026, Chuck Warner sits down with Michael Lucchino, Executive Vice President of Sales at Cannatrol, to discuss one of the most overlooked yet critical stages of cannabis cultivation: post-harvest processing. The conversation explores Cannatrol's origins in artisanal food preservation, the science of vapor pressure control, the growing importance of GMP compliance in global cannabis markets, and how precision-controlled curing can improve everything from flower quality to pre-roll manufacturing efficiency. Whether you're a commercial cultivator, processor, cannabis entrepreneur, or simply interested in the science behind premium cannabis products, this episode offers valuable insights into how technology is transforming the industry's post-harvest workflow.

We're joined by David E. Spiro, political scientist and author of The Hidden Hand of American Hegemony: Petrodollar Recycling and International Markets. The book, published by Cornell University Press, challenged the standard story that petrodollar recycling in the 1970s was simply a market-driven process and instead showed the deeper political role of American power in shaping where oil surpluses went.David's central argument is that the dollar system has always been about more than economics. It is about trust, coercion, liquidity, state power, and the ability of the United States to shape global outcomes through the plumbing of finance. In the 1970s, oil exporters accumulated massive dollar surpluses after OPEC price shocks. Much of that capital flowed into U.S. government obligations and the Western banking system, helping finance trade deficits and reshape global debt markets. But today, the same system that once amplified American power may be starting to reveal its fragility. We dive into:• What petrodollar recycling actually means — and why the common story is incomplete• How the 1970s oil shocks reshaped global finance• Why oil being priced in dollars matters so much for American power• Whether dedollarisation is real or exaggerated• How SWIFT, sanctions, and dollar clearing became tools of geopolitical pressure• Why gold is returning as a reserve asset• Why Bitcoin and stablecoins may not challenge the dollar as much as people think• How U.S. tariff policy and political instability are weakening trust in the dollar system• Whether the American-led rules-based order is now breaking down• Why China may be the biggest beneficiary of American self-sabotage• The real limits of bringing manufacturing back to America• Why rare earths, chips, and supply chains are more complicated than the headlines suggest• Why the future may belong to societies that protect education, institutions, trust, and human thinking

Just translate your website into Spanish and launch in Mexico, right? Wrong. Dead wrong. Mexico is heavily cash-based, credit card acceptance rates are terrible due to fraud. International e-commerce is a minefield of assumptions that silently kill conversions before customers ever see your products. This encore episode brings back Naveen Gunti, VP of Logistics, Digital and Technology for International Markets at American Eagle Outfitters, whose insights are more relevant than ever. Join hosts Chuck Moxley and Nick Paladino as we explore why international means operating in 60+ countries, each with completely different consumer behaviors, payment systems, and brand perceptions. We dive into the concept Naveen calls "macro friction", friction that comes from outside your website, like when marketplaces in a country deliver in one hour and you take three days, making your perfect checkout flow irrelevant. They break down developer and product bias, explaining how building experiences for yourself in ideal conditions on the best network destroys experiences for users who aren't in those conditions. Most powerfully, Naveen warns that assuming you've eliminated all friction is exactly when you've just created it.Key Actionable Takeaways: Localize for market-specific payment and fulfillment expectations - Partner with local infrastructure like cash payment networks in cash-based markets and meet delivery speed standards set by dominant marketplaces, not just your own capabilitiesStop building for yourself in ideal conditions - Test on actual devices, networks, and conditions your users face; developer bias creates friction when you optimize for best-case scenarios that don't represent real usageContinuously test and assume friction is never fully eliminated - The moment you think your experience is frictionless, you've stopped adapting to evolving customer expectations and competitive pressures creating new friction from outside your siteWant more tips and strategies about creating frictionless digital experiences? In this episode of The KE Report, I sit down with Dana Lyons, Fund Manager and Editor of The Lyons Share Pro, to discuss a significant regime shift currently unfolding in the financial markets. After nearly two decades of dominance by US large-cap growth and tech stocks, the tide appears to be turning toward value sectors and international equities. Dana provides a technical deep dive into why this rotation may just be in its infancy and identifies which global markets are finally breaking out of multi-decade stagnation. We also explore the recent volatility in the precious metals sector and how to strategically position for the next leg of the bull market in miners. Key Discussion Points: The Value vs. Growth Reversal: Dana explains why the 20-year outperformance of growth stocks may have peaked in late 2025, signaling a long-term shift toward consumer staples, utilities, and industrials. Broad Market Strength: A look at why "true" broad averages - including equal-weight and mid-cap indices - are showing more sustainable strength than the tech-heavy S&P 500 or Nasdaq 100. International Equity Breakouts: Why markets in Europe, Japan, and emerging economies like Peru and Argentina are finally clearing 25-year resistance levels, offering a fresh alternative to domestic US stocks. Precious Metals Strategy: An analysis of the recent "mini-crash" in silver and gold, the importance of hedging at extension levels, and why the current consolidation is a buying opportunity for gold and silver miners. In this episode of The Global Ecommerce Leaders Podcast, hosts Michael LeBlanc and Jim Okamura deliver a comprehensive deep dive into the state of global retail and ecommerce, anchored by insights from the recent GELF NYC reboot dinner—the first major in-person gathering of the community in some time. With global executives from leading international brands in the room, the event served as both a reunion and a reality check on the forces reshaping cross-border commerce.Jim and Michael reflect on the energy in New York—highlighted by lively discussions around brand integrity, organizational design, and the rising complexity of global go-to-market strategies. Leaders shared how they manage brand consistency across distributors, marketplaces, and wholesale partners, while simultaneously navigating volatile regulatory environments and shifting tariff structures. The hosts explore how pricing—once a simple currency-conversion exercise—has become a multidimensional challenge as identical goods now carry drastically different landed costs depending on origin, routing, and trade agreements.AI also dominated the conversation. Executives compared notes on AI-enhanced content creation, its accelerating demand for high-quality assets, and the tension between efficiency and brand protection. Michael highlights how generative AI is already intersecting with marketplaces, reshaping purchase journeys, and raising questions about attribution, KPIs, and data governance. Jim adds perspectives from his Ebeltoft global meetings, where consultants from Europe, APAC, and beyond echoed similar themes: AI is advancing faster than any previous digital disruption, and brands worldwide are preparing for what many are calling the first true “AI-powered holiday season.”The episode also previews GELF's next six months. First up: a Canada-focused virtual event in early December to analyze cross-border performance and help U.S. brands calibrate their 2026 strategies. Then, an LA reboot dinner in February to reconnect with West Coast leaders, followed by planning for a Global Experts Workshop in early 2026—a hands-on symposium for senior global executives managing complex international networks. Finally, Michael and Jim touch on the growing role of NRF's global shows, the rise of NRF Europe and APAC, and the renewed international momentum behind retail innovation gatherings. As always, they close by inviting brands to reach out, share their challenges, and help shape future GELF programming. This episode is a rich, timely resource for anyone navigating global ecommerce, cross-border growth, trade uncertainty or the accelerating influence of AI on international retail. The revenue of US dividend stocks isn't necessarily made in America. A portfolio of popular dividend-paying stocks is likely exposed to currency or geopolitical risks. Big Takeaways Globalization is shifting towards a model that may exclude China. AI will significantly impact businesses, potentially leading to many closures. Aggregators in e-commerce are predicted to return with a focus on credible brands. New challenges often give way to new opportunity. New marketplaces present opportunities for sellers to expand beyond Amazon US. YouTube has the opportunity to become a major competitor to Amazon in retail. Diversification away from Amazon is crucial for long-term success. The current economic climate creates both challenges and opportunities for e-commerce. This weekend, Muslims around California will celebrate Eid al Fitr to mark the end of Ramadan. People observing the holy month have been fasting from dawn to dusk. And although fasting is a big part of Ramadan, so is the food people eat to break the fast each night. Small shops like Besan's International Market in San Bruno are key to observing Ramadan. Not only do they supply the ingredients for the holiday, they also connect people from all ethnicities who follow Islam. Lisa Morehouse and Leenah Bassouni spent time reporting at Besan's Market for the series California Foodways. Then reporter Steven Cuevas takes us to Altadena. Tens of thousands of people evacuated the city during the Eaton Fire. But some people took a huge risk and never left, and tried to protect their homes and neighborhoods. They lived a totally different experience of the fire and its aftermath. Steven brings us this profile of two residents from opposite ends of Altadena, who made that choice to stay behind. And finally we go to southeast San Diego, where for decades, a dusty grey wall sat at the top of Division Street. Right where it curves upwards, away from the freeway, and down into the mostly residential neighborhood of Paradise Hills. Three high school friends painted a mural here 30 years ago, and as KPBS's Kori Suzuki explains, they've reunited to bring it back to life. Learn more about your ad choices.
