What's up, everyone! Today we're sharing an episode with Joseph Vellone, the CEO of ChargeScape — a Joint Venture between Ford, Honda, BMW, and Nissan. -----Listen on: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube | Pocket Casts-----As the grid continues to buckle under the pressure of ever-increasing demand, it's more important than ever to find ways to manage the existing load. However, it's not all bad. One of the main demand drivers might be the core solution to these demand problems—namely, EVs, when paired with smart charging software. You see, all these EVs are essentially backup batteries. Currently, not all are equipped with bi-directional charging, but most new vehicles hitting the roads are. So, not only can a smart charging software, managed by utilities, alleviate demand on the grid, it can also pull energy from the vehicles when the time is right (again, when the hardware capabilities are present). -----Support our Work with a Paid Subscription-----This fundamentally shifts our perspective on vehicles. Instead of a cost center, it could earn you money by purchasing cheap energy, or charging on solar for free, and selling back to the grid at peak demand times. This is the type of utopian future we work towards — and the best part, it's becoming reality in front of us. In this episode, we have a returning guest who appeared in Jan 2025 (Episode 497), Juan Carlos, President and CEO of Canstar Resources, a TSX-Venture listed junior miner focused on mineral exploration in Newfoundland, Canada. Juan has 15 years of experience in executive management, capital markets, finance, and commercial and strategic development. Juan gives us an update on proceedings since we last spoke, their new JV agreement, VMS deposits, and why they are attractive propositions, their recently launched deep geophysics survey update, and discusses their unique board and what they bring to the company and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS CanStar Resources has entered a significant joint venture with VMS Mining Corporation, which involves a phased investment totalling $11.5 million for a 60% ownership stake in CanStar's VMS assets. This structure is designed to be non-dilutive for existing shareholders. The Buckins District in Newfoundland is historically significant for its high-grade VMS deposits. CanStar's projects, Buckins and Mary March, are located in this area, which has seen limited exploration using modern geophysical techniques, suggesting substantial untapped potential. CanStar is also exploring its Golden Bay project, which has significant antimony potential. Antimony is critical for military and high-tech applications, and its rising demand presents a strategic opportunity for the company. CanStar plans to advance its exploration programs at both the Buckins and Mary March projects, with ongoing geophysical surveys and drilling activities. The company aims to execute its strategy efficiently in 2025, leveraging its partnerships and expertise to drive discoveries. BEST MOMENTS "CanStar Resources is a TSX-V listed junior that's focused on transforming neglected mineral systems into strategic assets for the next supercycle." "This joint venture... is non-dilutive and it's serious capital in the ground on an accelerated basis, really looking for a tier one discovery." "VMS deposits are very interesting in part because they're polymetallic... they give you economic flexibility and exposure to not only critical metals, but also precious metals." "The best place to look for a new deposit is in the shadow of the headframe." "Antimony is a mineral that is absolutely critical for military and high technology applications." In today's episode I speak to farmer, educator and my own business partner, Jonty Brunyee. As I was preparing to change careers 7 years ago, I approached Jonty and his wife, Mel, to see if there was scope for setting up a market garden here at Conygree Farm. To cut a long story short, we went into partnership and the rest is history! Inspired by Jonty and Mel, I have become evangelical about partnerships and I have been keen for a while to sit down with Jonty and get him talking. Anyway, we sat down last week, in between lambing, calving, harvesting, blow-drying the water pump and setting up for our big spring plant sale weekend. We talked about being enterprising, enterprise stacking and synergy, the ins and outs of joint ventures, partnerships and the importance of business planning. Jonty, as he says himself, is a big picture person and a people person. As well as running a successful farm business he has taught and inspired thousands of people - farmers and the general public alike, including at the Royal Agricultural University and at FarmEd. And hopefully there's lots in our conversation to inspire you today, so let's get to it.

He transitioned from prototyping to marketing for golf courses. Networking and free work helped him build a portfolio. The golf course marketing business faced challenges due to client understanding. COVID-19 forced a shift to month-to-month pricing and lower fees. Jake found success in real estate marketing with a dedicated sales partner. The business scaled significantly, reaching a million-dollar month. They introduced recurring revenue through support fees. Adaptability was key to navigating business challenges. Jake's journey emphasizes the importance of persistence and learning. Rapid growth can lead to significant challenges in management and quality control. Outsourcing can be beneficial, but it requires careful oversight to maintain quality. Transitioning to a new industry requires strategic planning and understanding of financial metrics. Effective marketing must resonate with the consumer and avoid jargon. Building a unique offer can differentiate a business in a crowded market. Understanding the consumer's perspective is crucial for successful marketing. Hiring should be done thoughtfully to avoid overstaffing and inefficiencies. DESCRIPTION This episode is brought to you by J&V on the subject of JV…. Today, Jo & Vicky discuss Joint Ventures (JVs). They explain how joint business ventures work and why they are a virtually untapped way to earn extra income. Over the years, Jo & Vicky have used several different types of JVs. In fact, it is one of the main reasons they have grown so fast. They explain how taking advantage of win-win situations by collaborating with other dog businesses and others opens up new markets for you. Using real world examples, Jo & Vicky explain how taking this approach enables you to make more money faster, helps you to keep things fresh, learn, spot trends and provide additional support for your customers at no extra cost. KEY TAKEAWAYS JV stands for Joint Venture – a collaboration that benefits all of the businesses involved. Collaborating with other businesses improves your reach and enables you to serve your clients better. Don´t view other local dog businesses as competitors. See them as potential business partners. Many business owners unintentionally participate in joint ventures. But actively seeking them out is by far the best way to benefit. Promoting products you believe in and securing a discount for what you buy for your business or dogs, is a simple example of a JV. Being able to recommend another dog business e.g. A reliable groomer to your audience or customers is very positive for all 3 parties. Even if they work differently from you, still consider partnering up with other dog businesses. The chances are they are serving a slightly different customer base from you. Collaborating with other dog businesses is a great way to learn new ways of doing things and spot trends early. Working with other businesses in your area is an effective way to build your reputation and brand. Think outside the box, not all collaborations have to be with dog businesses. You could partner with a park based food stand to attract a group of dog owners to experience a free agility session or just a meetup you attend. BEST MOMENTS “Look to collaborate with other businesses that will align and support what it is you are trying to achieve.” “JVS should always be a win-win.” “We actively invite people into our group to speak that are our direct competitors.” “It´s about nurturing those relationships, building the trust.” “Your JV stuff doesn't always have to be a pet product.” “So much can be said for just going and having a chat with someone.” “You're going to help people off the back of the money thing.” “Ultimately, you can make it a win-win, if you understand one another.” SOCIALS AND IMPORTANT LINKS https://www.tiktok.com/@letstalkdogbusiness https://www.youtube.com/@LetsTalkDogBusiness Website www.caninebusinessacademy.com Community Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/caninebusinessacademycommunity/ Let´s Talk Dog Business Strategy Book - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lets-Talk-Dog-Business-Strategy/dp/1068791705 ABOUT THE HOSTS Meet Jo and Vicky! His strategy centers on two questions: “How do I buy it?” and “How do I never lose it?” Raising capital becomes simple when you bring a strong deal, a smart structure, and clear alignment with investor interests. JV deals and seller financing often offer more flexibility and alignment than traditional syndications. Topics: From Dave Ramsey to Real Estate Freedom Started with a goal to retire his wife, transitioned from two duplexes to over 300 units. Emphasized holding properties long-term by ensuring they cash flow from day one. Avoids dependence on future sales for profitability. How a 38-Unit Seller-Financed Deal Changed Everything Acquired a distressed property listed for 12 years by offering a six-month no-payment period. Secured seller financing at 4% with a $300K down payment, raised from new connections. Repaired collections and operations, appraised at $4.1M within 11 months. Used refinance to cash out investors and retain full ownership. Deal, Debt, Equity: A Simple Capital-Raising Framework Christian emphasizes a “deal-first” approach: find the opportunity, secure the financing, then raise the remaining equity. Capital is easier to raise when you're solving problems for both the seller and investor. Transparent communication and downside protection build trust and drive investment. Joint Ventures vs. Syndication Joint ventures allow for more creative structures, faster execution, and clear alignment of roles. Syndication is not wrong—just often unnecessary for small to midsize deals with fewer partners. The Power of Relationships in Real Estate Christian meets with owners weekly for coffee instead of cold calling. His best deals and investor connections come from these low-pressure conversations. Many owners eventually offer to finance their entire portfolios after seeing his track record and integrity. Lessons from a $4.5M “Shiny Object” Mistake Bought a resort early in his journey that didn't align with his strengths or goals. Learned the importance of sticking to your lane and clarifying your business identity.

Markets had their worst day since 2020. The NDX plunged more than 5% while the SPX entered correction territory by tumbling close to 5%. President Trump's steeper-than-expected tariffs led to massive selling action in tech and the Mag 7. RH (RH) closed down 40% due to a triple whammy of lower earnings and guidance, topped by tariff uncertainty. One winner of the day: Intel (INTC), after The Information reported it and TSMC (TSM) eye a tentative agreement on a joint venture. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Tilden Moschetti, Esq. is a syndication attorney that focuses exclusively on Regulation D offerings for real estate syndicators, business owners, entrepreneurs, and private equity funds. Tilden is a highly regarded expert in syndication as an attorney, a syndication coach, General Counsel to two private equity funds, and an active syndicator himself. He has been featured on NPR, NBC News, People Magazine, the National Law Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Los Angeles Business Journal. A fundamental difference between Tilden and other attorneys is that Tilden came to the practice of syndication law as a syndicator of his own deals first. Tilden's practice as a real estate attorney changed gears when a partner showed him a deal and asked him if they could syndicate that deal together. Both investors and Tilden made a great return, so he kept syndicating. As his successes grew doing deals, 9 years ago he refocused his firm away from real estate law, to syndication law exclusively.
