Today, I am joined by Kathy Davis of VegInspired. Kathy is a plant-based lifestyle and mindset coach, a Meal Planning Expert, the CEO of VegInspired, and the author of three cookbooks: The 30-Minute Whole-Food Plant-Based Cookbook, The Super Easy Plant-Based Cookbook, and The Budget-Friendly, Plant-Based Diet Cookbook, and a co-author of one personal development book: Absolute Vision. Kathy is on a mission to educate, inspire, and empower others about the power of plant-based eating in living thriving and successful lives. She operates on two primary mottos: 1) Eat More Plants and 2) Intention over Perfection. Kathy has been eating and creating vegan meals for more than nine years. Over the past 4 years, she shifted her daily habits to follow a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle. She experienced amazing results: renewed energy, 50-pound weight loss and maintenance, a newfound sense of joy, and a healthier mind and body! One tool that she used consistently to make plant-based eating a sustainable way of living was meal planning. She founded the Meal Plan Accountability Club to help others become efficient and effective meal planners. Kathy is dedicated to providing women (and men) with the resources to Eat More Plants. She is eager to guide others on their journey so that they can make a more significant impact in the world. Fun fact: Kathy and her husband, John, are living their plant-based dream while simultaneously traveling the United States in an RV with their cats. They've been to 33 states and 24 national parks so far and have a goal to visit all the US national parks! It is sooo hard managing our weight in midlife. I mean...nothing that used to work...minimizing calories and being a slave to cardio seems to be working anymore. We don't know about you, but we're at our wit's end! Further, society does not make it any easier by creating impossible to achieve ideals! Our guest today, Kathy Mead Fronheiser calls this "comparanoia" because we are constantly comparing ourselves to other women and the societal standards projected in the media. But, the reality is that trying to live up to those standards may be the exact thing that is preventing us from being our healthiest selves. Kathy is a health coach who focuses on helping high-achieving women over 40 (i.e. in perimenopause and menopause) achieve their health goals. She has an MS in exercise science and has over 15 years of experience as a health coach. She coaches women to lift heavy shit, not eat like toddlers, have fun and find a supportive community when working towards new levels of fitness in this age and stage of life. And...Don't forget the sleep! Getting enough rest helps our bodies to recover so that we can have more strength and energy to reclaim our future and prioritize our selves and our health. Kathy teaches us that fitness in midlife (while different for each individual) can be a simple formula of working out LESS, resting MORE, enjoying food, and losing inches. That's a win-win-win our book! And girl, if you're a woman in the middle and find you have a tire in the middle (I mean...who doesn't at this age?!) you MUST listen to this episode! As a matter of fact, we want you to join us each and every week as we meet right here in the middle to discuss all the ways in which you can let go of past negative narratives and start the next chapter of your life with purpose and intention. In this episode, Kathy teaches us: The way we used to diet and exercise in the past no longer work in middle age and even puts stress on our bodies. This has a detrimental impact on our bodies by increasing our cortisol levels, which makes it more difficult to lose fat. If there were a hierarchy of health priorities, sleep should be at the top. High intensity and high impact are not the same. There are ways to do high intensity without high impact. We should be striving for high intensity to get our heart rate up while building muscle. Work with a personal trainer just a few times, as necessary, until you have established a routine and understand what exercises work for you. Make sure you are prioritizing fiber and protein in your diet at you age. As we age, we need more protein. If necessary, front load your protein by eating a breakfast that is high in protein so you don't reach the end of a day and not had enough. Strive to eat 1 gram of protein for each pound of your body weight in a day. i.e. if you weigh 150, eat 150 grams of protein. This is the first Full Moon of 2023 and it's calling you to "Stand in Your Own Unique Heartlight". In my last episode, we covered ideas and ways to value the unique and special gifts that every individual possesses. In each moment we are being encouraged and supported toward recognizing our gifts, talents, abilities, and inner self resources. The previous New Moon in Aquarius is setting the tone for 2023, and perhaps even for the decade. With the Moon's energy shining so brightly, this is a time for inner illumination. In other words , give yourself permission to truly feel the wonder and fabulousness of who you really are. The sign of Leo is about embracing who you are as an inspiration in the world. Yes, this is the absolute "truth".In our contemporary society, we are socialized and acculturated to give away our "inner worth and light" to others. It's important to be clear. When we study our astrology maps, our unique soul and life "signatures" will be different from anyone else's. No two astrology blueprints are the same. What's totally magnificence is that all you and I need to do, is recognize and "Stand in Our Own Unique Soul Light". Sure, that are plenty of people doing all kinds of things as highlighted on the social media platforms. My question to you is this. Are you "claiming and radiating" your brilliance, joy, creativity, thoughtfulness, love, fun, generosity of spirit, on and on..........?My conversation with the brilliant, creative and beacon of light, Kathy Harmon-Luber, illustrates so powerfully how the energy of Leo can operate in our lives. Please make yourself comfortable, and prepare to glean words of wisdom from a woman who has chosen to live her life from a heart-centered space. Please listen to this conversation from the perspective that you have everything it takes to stand in "your own spotlight". Remember the message of this Full Moon is about releasing anything from the past which blocks you from "shining your light and being the center of your life."Here are ways to connect with Kathy: Website: https://sufferingtothriving.com/Email: https:// SufferingToTHRIVING@gmail.comAmazon:https://www.amazon.com/Suffering-Thriving-Toolkit-Navigating-Peaceful/dp/B09YDK52D8/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1EKC8YCSJQ7CD&keywords=kathy+harmonluber&qid=1675556328&sprefix=kathy+harmonlube%2Caps%2C174&sr=8-1) Sound Healing: https://sufferingtothriving.com/work-with-kathyLearn how you can to use the wisdom of Astrology. Kathy Parsons is a yoga teacher, breath work and mindfulness coach, as well as a retreat host and entrepreneur. She didn't start her career here though; she was a journalist, worked in PR, then finance and was a nonprofit exec. All the while, she began to discover her passion for yoga and global retreats. We get into exactly how and when she made the transition from exec to wellness entrepreneur. Kathy describes herself as a lifelong student and a Type A in recovery. We commiserate on this point and talk about how we've worked really really hard, only to realize we're working on the wrong thing, or in the wrong industry. We both also suffer from depression, and talk about what that looks and feels like in our lives, and the tools within us that can help. How does community really affect our business success? And where do we find it? Enter, Kathy Thomas! Kathy is the owner and founder of Collective615, a women's only co-working space right here in Nashville. Her heart for female business owners and providing a space that encourages collaboration over competition is so inspiring. Plus, her photography business is internationally published, and she's traveled around the world building relationships, making her a connection expert. Seriously, check out her website attached below, her photos will blow your mind! Today Kathy and I are digging deep into the importance of finding a community that builds you up as a business owner. We chat about how a global pandemic impacted her personally, and the steps she took to find blessing in the pause. We discuss the power of camaraderie in business, how "pivoting" is now the worst word, and why coffee shops may not be the best place to fuel connection. We'll also learn the history behind Collective 615 and how her personal experience helped Kathy see a need in the co-working industry, which, in my opinion, she filled in the most powerful way possible. So how did Kathy find her community and how did she overcome the fear throughout a global pandemic? How did she “pivot” her business in 2020 and keep a co-working space going? You are going to love her advice and little nuggets of wisdom for new business owners! Today is a big day. Kathy Caprino, renowned author, speaker, career, and leadership coach and Sr. Forbes contributor is with me today. Kathy and I have a lot in common when it comes to our innate desire to empower others to be their best self and show up that way every day. That is what we are unpacking today – how to be the most powerful you. I love to discuss shining, but as Kathy accurately points out, before we can shine, we have to break free of the opposite mindset. The opposite of shining is suppression or depression. From a young age, we are taught to suppress. We are raised to be fearful. Whether or not it is well-intended, this crippling mindset will leave our light dimmed and our impact impotent, all out of fear of being embarrassed or losing face. You aren't born with confidence. You gain it by doing the things you don't think you can do. As you live and learn and push beyond your perceived boundaries, your confidence grows. Often, your natural talents – those things you have always been, are the foundation for what will allow you to be fulfilled and add value to other people. You won't get it on the first try. You have to press beyond the fear of making a mistake sot that you can recognize what makes you happy and adds the most value to others. When you can turn your mess into a message, you will find healing from limiting beliefs and find your center. You can choose who you want to be in the world. Anchor yourself to the core truth you hold dear and know that, while what you do may change, who you are remains true. It sounds simple enough – believe and do better. It takes bravery to step into who you truly are. It takes courage to look openly at what isn't working and be accountable to change it. You have the power to act as an agent of change in your own life and be the author of your own story. Find something every day that restores you and put it on your calendar. Invest in restoration. You are no good to anyone bound by stress. In parting, Kathy has a challenge for you: Right now, for the next ten minutes, take a self-assessment. Do you believe in yourself? Do you believe you are important? And that the world needs you? Now believe it more and ask yourself the following question: “If I truly believe I am important and the world needs me, what will I try next?”. Don't stop until you believe in yourself more than you did when you started. After that, take my power gap survey (listed in the resources below) and start taking practical steps toward living the true you. Rise. Shine. Impact. Honor who you want to be.. I learn something amazing from every single guest I have on this podcast… but every now and again I have a guest on the show that blows my mind, and today’s episode is another one of those transformative, mind-shifting, belief-changing ones that make me love doing this podcast and fundamentally shift how I’m doing things in my business. My guest today is super passionate about training women to be the superheros of their own success. After finding the courage to say "bye-bye" to her corporate marketing career, Kathy Goughenour built a 6-figure virtual assistant business from her tiny house in the middle of a forest. Today, she teaches professional women how to create their own work-at-home VA businesses so they can enjoy the freedom, flexibility and financial security they desire and deserve. Kathy also offers VA Matchmaking sessions to business owners interested in working with Expert VAs® and Virtual Experts®. Kathy and her Expert VA® and Virtual Expert® Training program have been featured in Forbes, The Huffington Post, Good Housekeeping, All You, and The Wealthy Freelancer. Today we’re talking about: Kathy’s journey to become a coach for virtual experts. The realization Kathy came to when she felt her career was at a standstill. How Kathy’s unsolicited marketing advice turned into her first client as a virtual assistant. The importance of taking imperfect action. Why Kathy decided to hire a coach and the best advice she got. Why you should be raising your prices. The #1 key to being successful in your business. Her best advice for you if you want to sell a course. Why you should specialize. How your money mindset can hold back your profit. What Kathy started doing differently to achieve her profit goals. Why your website does not have to be perfect for you to be massively successful. Her best advice for you if you’re struggling to get traction in your business. The one belief Kathy had to change about herself to get where she is today. My favorite quotes from Kathy: “Once you learn how to build this (VA business) you can learn how to build any business you want” “I’m passionate about training women to be the superheros of their own success.” “I am somebody worthwhile and we all are.” “The universe provides more than we can ever handle if we can open our minds and our hearts to that.” “Take bigger risks.” “Stop playing small. The universe needs you.” “Hang out and learn from coaches who have been where you want to go.” “Believe in myself enough to invest that money even though I did not have that money.” “Get way out of your comfort zone.” “What one woman can do, another woman can do.” “Know that you are worthy.” Resources mentioned in this episode: Ryan Levesque Jennifer Kim Forbes Article: Start A Business.
