In this episode, we're diving into a story that shook me to my core — the story of King Nebuchadnezzar from Daniel 1–4. God had to humble this man in the wild for seven whole years, and it wasn't just for show — it was a warning for all of us who struggle with pride (yes, even in the smallest ways).T. Louise opens up about how pride has personally shown up in her own life — especially while trying to grow as a podcast host, content creator, and woman of God — and how God's been checking her heart in this season. If you've ever wrestled with pride, struggled to fully obey what God is calling you to do, or felt like you're relying more on your own strength than His… this one's for you.

A new season of big On Being conversations is coming in the new year. But for the next few weeks, we are pulling back the veil on how we're getting grounded for that. On Being Foundations are words and ideas — ways of seeing the world and walking through it — a few tethering understandings towards imagining and walking our way into our callings for now and the future. These have emerged across 20 years of conversation. They are shaping how The On Being Project meets the world that is now unfolding: Seeing the generative story of our timeLiving the questionsTaking a long view of time, and becoming “critical yeast”Calling, and wholenessEach of the four offerings is short, less than 15 minutes — more wisdom practice than podcast episode, and meant to be interactive if you're game. Before you sit down or step out to listen, grab something to write with. Every session comes with an invitation that you can weave through the ordinary interactions of your life, your every day. Today I want to talk about something that I have mentioned before, but with the world being wonky and our kids going through a lot, I would like to talk about why I have such strong feelings about waiting until at least 8th grade when it comes to smartphones for kids.I was not aware that the average age a child gets a smartphone is 10 years old and that children are spending between 6 and 9 hours a day on media! Ugh!!  Childhood is changing so much from when I was a kid, and the negative impact of too much screen time is hitting kids terribly hard. When I watched “The Social Dilemma” I was terrified and it made me so sad that this is what these devices and platforms are doing to us as a society. Well, imagine what it's doing to our kids with their brains still developing and with navigating growing up and learning how to actually be social with one another- hello potential bullying! Now when they have smartphones and social media they can't even get away from it because they take it home. We have to do something about it, in my opinion and it starts with us as Moms. Talk to your fellow Mamas and let's all do what we can to allow our kids to stay little and be kids for as long as possible!! :) Send me a DM on Instagram (linked below) and let me know if you're on board with this.
