“If you want to gather honey don't kick over the bee hive.” – Dale Carnegie. In this episode we talk about exactly that - kicking the beehive. We will also continue on from last weeks episode, "Shtuff Happens Seek Higher Ground" where we talked about what seeking higher ground looks like--because as Ralph Waldo Emerson says, “If you would lift me up, you've got to be on higher ground.” The song we used for the intro was "Are You Happy" by Primitive Radio Gods. The ending song was "Make Someone Happy" by Jimmy Durante. We don't own any rights, but we love the songs! On the latest episode of The 1 Girl Revolution Podcast, we welcome James Hamilton — personal security expert, founder of Hamilton Security Group, and one of the most powerful voices in personal protection and empowerment today. James is only the second man ever to be featured on The 1 Girl Revolution Podcast, and for good reason — his work is saving lives, protecting families, and giving women the tools to reclaim their power. This episode wraps up our special month-long series on SASSGO and the life-changing I Will Survive Weekend. SASSGO is a nonprofit organization that protects women and girls from assault and exploitation through education, self-defense, and empowerment — and James is one of the elite instructors committed to that mission. In this episode, you'll hear: ✨ James' personal journey — how he went from a kid in rural South Carolina to a top personal security expert trusted by high-profile clients, celebrities, and everyday families alike; ✨ What it means to be a personal security expert and how James started his own company, Hamilton Security Group, after years of working alongside legendary safety expert Gavin de Becker; ✨ The critical tools women already have — and how to use them to navigate threats and stay safe (spoiler: it starts with intuition… and a flashlight); ✨ How James became involved with SASSGO and the I Will Survive Weekend — and why this work is so close to his heart; ✨ Practical tips for protecting yourself, your children, and your community in everyday situations — from walking to your car at night, to staying safe in an Uber, to how to respond in an active shooter scenario; ✨ How to teach kids about safety and the online world, how to create “white space” in your life, and what advice James has for the “good guys” who want to stand up and protect the women and girls in their lives; ✨ And so much more. This episode is a MUST LISTEN for everyone! You don't want to miss it. I think we'd probably all agree that digital distraction is at an all time high. News from around the world is at our fingertips at a moment's notice. We get real-time updates on, well, everything. We can play any sort of game imaginable anywhere in the world and we can post our own thoughts and musings for anybody to see. Smartphones are truly an incredible innovation, but they come with a cost. Instead of engaging with the world right around us, we engage in a digital world filled with avatars and algorithms. Instead of looking up to God or out to the people directly in front of us, we look down into the screen of a metal rectangle. This past weekend at Saddleback, Pastor Darren Whitehead spoke on his book, The Digital Fast. Darren was kind enough to join this podcast to follow-up on his message. In this conversation we talk about how to fill the gaps in our time if not on our phones, spiritual practices and rhythms, reading the Bible, the difference between Australians and Americans, the calling of a generation to re-engage in the spiritual, and much more.Doable Discipleship is a Saddleback Church podcast produced and hosted by Jason Wieland. It premiered in 2017 and now offers more than 400 episodes. Today's episode is all about getting grounded and giving you three super practical nutrition reminders we all need right now—especially in this season. With BBQs, vacations, ice cream runs, and all the summer celebrations in full swing, you skipped a lot of workouts, your nutrition didn't reach your standards, you haven't logged a single macro in days. And now you're tempted to just say, “Whatever. I'll start over in the fall.” You don't need a fresh month or a magical reset date to start making choices that support the version of you you want to be. You can choose to recommit right now. Not perfectly. Just intentionally. What I discuss: How To embrace summer without guilt, recommit to goals anytime, enjoy life's moments, and maintain a healthy mindset. How macro counting can help achieve nutrition goals by prioritizing protein and allowing balance and consistency. How to stay motivated and embrace your authentic self with self-love and confidence.
