Can you guess who appears for the first time on the 'cast and exactly which ways he's oriented? Dave Holland – PRISM; Robbie Williams – SWINGS BOTH WAYS; Alex Cline – FOR PEOPLE IN SORROW; Christine McBride – PEOPLE MUSIC; Rene Marie – I WANNA BE EVIL.

Barry and Abigail discuss Twilight Time by Bennie Wallace and sample Time Stands Still, Twinger, Mangoes At Work, and They Call Me Baltastic from Hiatus Brewing Company in Ocala, Florida. Barry has a personal connection to Bennie Wallace through his friend “Uncle” Steve Moore, whose Oscar-nominated animated short “Redux Riding Hood” features a score written by Bennie. Watch "Redux Riding Hood" or read Uncle Steve's blog post about its production! Many thanks to Lucas Frank, owner and brewer of Hiatus Brewing Company, for sitting down with us to talk about the history and the branding of the brewery! Barry shared his other Los Angeles jazz experiences at Chadney's, across the street from the NBC Studios. One memorable performance was by trombone player Matt Finders, who was part of Tonight Show with Jay Leno Band led by Kevin Eubanks. Check out Barry's playlist of the songs that were covered by Bennie Wallace on this album! Abigail could not help but hear Silver Bells in The Tennessee Waltz. Abigail and Barry compared Willie Mae to Linus and Lucy by Vince Guaraldi Trio, from the soundtrack to “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Up next… Diorama by Silverchair, submitted to our Virtual Jukebox by Ian Rees Jingles are by our friend Pete Coe. Stage Welcome to “Concert At Yoshi's” on the What's The Matter With Me? Podcast I went to see a jazz concert at Yoshi's in my wheelchair, and it was pretty easy, for a change. I made a lot of vegetarian bean chili ahead of a trip to the ranch, and the vegetarians approved of it. Shout outs Shout outs to Claude Hopper who listened to Wheelchair Dining Experience and wrote in to laugh about the banana salad My mom told me that I should have complained about the restaurant experience, but I have worked in restaurants for a long time and I think that things can go wrong very easily, so I declined. Kind of a cop out. I was like it's not gonna make my experience any better to complain. Write me an email john@hoppinworld.com and I will give you a shout out, perhaps the best shout out you will ever have. What are you waiting for? Send me an email john@hoppinworld.com Mom reminded me how the meal was like a car crash and i couldn't look away because It was like I was driving and I crashed my car. Maybe I was like a passenger in a taxi where the driver got into a horrible accident and killed someone and was at fault I was not at fault but I experienced it. And I paid for it. Rest in peace to that dinner I'll complain next time. Ads R Cheesy It's still true that I've never had an advertisement on WTMWM?, but I was watching TV with my son and they had an advertisement for this nut company and I have to say that I order nuts and raisins a lot. they also sell cheese powder and I'm interested in that. so if the nuts people come calling, I might do it, for the cheese powder Eight Cans Of Beans I made a gallon and a half of bean chili, to bring to the ranch. it got good reviews from the vegetarians who ate it up. I wanted to see if making vegetarian chili from canned beans was possible, and it worked out. My buddy grilled some carne asada and onions, which mixed into the bean chili just right, lending good meaty flavor and satisfying some more primal urges. Dave Holland Trio At Yoshi's Dave Holland, bass. Kevin Eubanks, guitar. Eric Garland, drums. From jam band to nihilistic noise rock. Eubanks is a natural sideman and laughs at everything This jazz concert at Yoshi's was accessible in my wheelchair I just had to call in the afternoon to let them know I was coming that night, and they reserved a table for my wife and I They gave us a good table with a clear vantage point and we enjoyed the show. We were not off to the side, or around the corner. It was easy to get to my seat, and I had a clear path to the bathroom which was useful because i had two whiskey sours Spatula Debates Spatula appears in English for the first time in 1525, when it morphs from being a weapon to a utensil most commonly used at apothecaries. Today, it describes any cooking tool with a long handle and a thin flexible blade. Got this from some clickbait We got into a debate during the making of chili about spatulas: are they for smoothing things out, or flipping them. Turns out, there are a lot of different things that you could call a spatula Domestic Things We received the bed and the fridge The mattress is not a lumpy nightmare The fridge is keeping things cold, but well short of freezing I Drove Them I drove the kids to presidents week camp this morning bc my wife was in the office

This podcast covers New Girl Season 3, Episode 15, Exes, which originally aired on February 4, 2014 and was written by Nina Pedrad and directed by Alex Hardcastle. Here's a quick recap of the episode:Nick runs into his ex Caroline and Jess tries to convince him that you can still have a friendship with your ex. Meanwhile Schmidt invites the guys over to his new loft and Schmidt quickly finds that they have both used his place for more than hanging out.We discuss Pop Culture References such as:Don Corleone [The Godfather] - Jess wanted Nick to talk to Caroline because she didn't want to give up the farmer's market because it made her feel like Don Corleone.James Bond / Moneypenny - Coach shared that Schmidt was like James Bond due to his apartment and Winston said he'd be the Moneypenny. Additional Pop Culture References such as:Leno and Eubanks - Nick is confirming that Jess and Berkley are friends after seeing each other naked and Jess shares it's the purest of friendships, “straight Leno and Eubanks”. James “Jay” Leno is an American television host, comedian, and writer. After doing stand-up comedy for years, he became the host of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2009. Kevin Eubanks is an American jazz and fusion guitarist and composer. He was the leader of The Tonight Show Band with host Jay Leno from 1995 to 2010. “Two Step” / Dave Matthews Band - Berkley shared that Jess brushed his hand at a Dave Matthews concert during the band's song “Two Step”. Dave Matthews Band (also known by the initials DMB) is an American rock band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1991. "Two Step", a song about a couple celebrating their love, released in January 1997 as the fourth single from their album Crash and has also appeared on many DMB concert live albums. Noises Off - Schmidt was setting the boundaries with everyone in the apartment and said, “Now, no exits, no entrances, no Noises Off baloney.” Noises Off is a 1982 play by the English playwright Michael Frayn. Each of the three acts of Noises Off contains a performance of the first act of a play within a play, a sex farce called Nothing On. [Game] of Thrones - When Schmidt is introducing his TV and all the games he could have on he said he could also watch Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. The show premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and concluded on May 19, 2019, with 73 episodes broadcast over eight seasons. When Schmidt was reviewing all the sex spots in his loft he shared the following names:Jumanji - Jumanji is a 1995 American fantasy adventure film. Loosely based on Chris Van Allsburg's picture book of the same name, the film is the first installment of the Jumanji franchise. The 1995 film stars Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, David Alan Grier, and Bonnie Hunt. The story centers on a supernatural board game that releases jungle-based hazards upon its players with every turn they take. Jean-Michel Basquiat - Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist who rose to success during the 1980s as part of the Neo-expressionism movement. Basquiat's art focused on dichotomies such as wealth versus poverty, integration versus segregation, and inner versus outer experience. Since Basquiat's death at the age of 27 from a heroin overdose in 1988, his work has steadily increased in value.Nia Vardalos - Antonia “Nia” Eugenia Vardalos is a Canadian actress, director, producer and screenwriter. She is best known for starring in and writing the romantic comedy film My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002), which garnered her nominations for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. We discuss which one of us is most likely to avoid difficult conversations, overstay your welcome at someone's house, make a bunch of keys for their friends to their house, and prove your point by any means necessary. We also cover Schmidt inviting the guys over to the loft as our “Schmidtism”. For “Not in the 2020s” we discuss the way Sarah was portrayed at the bar and Caroline being set up as the “crazy ex”. In our “Yes in the 2020s” we talk about how Jess recognized her own privilege and the way Nick interacted with Berkley. We also give a quick look into Adam Brody (Berkley) the guest star we feature in this episode. Also in this episode were the following guest stars who we do not discuss in the podcast: Mary Elizabeth Ellis (Caroline - Previously Discussed in S1E24), Jessica Chaffin (Bertie - Previously Discussed in S3E9), Malea Rose (Sarah), Jenni Melear (Lynn), Janna VanHeertum (Waitress), Forrest Wheeler (Kid), and Tiffany Haddish (Leslie). We also chat about the goof where it looks like Jess is rubbing Berkley's shoulder in one scene but not the next and neither of us found the bear this episode. While not discussed in the podcast, we noted other references in this episode including:When Jess is explaining the timeline of when Nick and her got together to Caroline, she uses these milestones as indicators:Syria - During 2012 and 2013, the Syrian Civil War gradually escalated in its third phase. It started in 2011 and is still ongoing 12 years later.London Olympics - London hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics which is an international multi sport event taking place every 4 years. London was the first city to host the modern Olympics 3 times. Hurricane Sandy - Hurricane Sandy was an extremely destructive hurricane in the Atlantic and the largest thus far. It was a category 3 storm when it made landfall in Cuba. In the United States, it affected 24 states from Florida to Maine. Poseidon - When Nick is explaining that he's not friends with his exes, he mentions that he burns them (metaphorically) and gives their ashes to Poseidon. In the Ancient Greek religion, Poseidon was the god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses. He is known as the brother of Zeus, the chief deity of Ancient Greece. .This episode got an 8/10 rating from both Kritika and Kelly and both had the same favorite character: Nick! Thanks for listening and stay tuned for Episode 16!Music: "Hotshot” by scottholmesmusic.comFollow us on Twitter, Instagram or email us at whosthatgirlpod@gmail.com!Website: https://smallscreenchatter.com/

2 https://www.kevineubanks.com George and I are thrilled to welcome Kevin Eubanks to the show! We've been fans for a long time so this is going to be awesome! Bio: Kevin Eubanks, guitarist and prolific composer. He is well known by many as the former Music Director of The Tonight Show band, appearing on the show 18 years (1992 - 2010). His laid-back style and affability seems to belie the concentration and focus that have made him successful both as a consummate musician and a household name for late-night TV viewers. Kevin was born into a musical household in Philadelphia, PA. His mother, Vera Eubanks, is a gospel and classical pianist and organist with a Masters Degree in music education. She has taught both privately and in the school system, until her recent retirement. Vera's brother, the late Ray Bryant, was a journeyman jazz pianist who recorded and toured with jazz greats such as Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, and Sarah Vaughan not to mention a hit record of his own. Kevin was thus exposed to world-class music in his formative years as he began violin lessons, his first instrument, at age seven. His brother Robin, is a trombonist, arranger and tenured professor at Oberlin College and his brother Duane is consistently influencing so many younger musicians as a trumpet teacher and continues to expand his recording career. Kevin also studied the trumpet before making his commitment to the guitar which was solidified with his entrance to the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston from which he has received an ‘Honorary Doctorate' degree. He has also received an ‘Honorary Doctorate' degree from Redlands University in California. Kevin moved to New York after attending Berklee College of Music where his career kicked off in earnest. He started playing with some of the greats of Jazz, including Art Blakey, Slide Hampton, McCoy Tyner, Sam Rivers, Roy Haynes, Dave Holland, Ron Carter and others. In addition to working in other bands, Kevin become the leader of his own group and traveled to Jordan, Pakistan, India and Kuwait on tours sponsored by the US State Department, not to mention the European/Japanese Jazz circuit which so many artists frequent. Music geekery is at the heart of this week's edition. Over the years, time and time again I have come across songs that left me thinking… "Wait… there's a melody in this chorus or this solo that really reminds me of another song… but I can't quite put my finger on it…" And every time I'd play that song the same question would pop in my head at that same chorus or solo! I'm sure you're all familiar with that feeling. Here's a playlist featuring pairs of songs, usually a jazz and pop or rock song, which, to my delight, I was able to connect because of what seem to be short and random similarities… at least to my ears! The playlist features Jovanotti; Sarah Tandy; The Rolling Stones; Kevin Eubanks, Orrin Evans; Duke Ellington; Paolo Conte; Charles Mingus; Sting; Dionne Warwick; Lee Ritenour. Detailed playlist at https://spinitron.com/RFB/pl/16238325/Mondo-Jazz (up to "Isn't She Lovely"). Happy listening!

Ford Mustang, The Early Years Podcast -- Guest Interview Application============Ford Mustang community, today we take a step back to the future. We all know the future of the brand is in the hands of the next generation. Today our guest is Kevin Eubanks – and Kevin represents the next generation loving the Mustang brand, classic Mustangs specifically. Here's the email I got from Kevin to get on the show:I just started listening to your podcast and already love it. I am a huge fan of anything related to classic mustangs. I am 25 and already have had 5 Mustangs, 4 of which were 1970 or older, I'm currently working on 2. The first one I'm currently working on, I bought in a field of Mustangs in middle Georgia as a college graduation/commissioning present to myself. It is a 1970 Mustang fastback. The other, which I bought when I got stationed in Hawaii is a 1966 Mustang Convertible GT 289 4 speed. I am still relatively new and learning as I go.I would love to give encouragement and inspiration to those who are younger in the community or those who, like me, are just figuring things out as they go, one step at a time. If you own a Mustang, how long have you owned your ride?: The 1970 fastback I have owned for about 3 years. The 1966 convertible I bought about 7 months ago. What do you do for a living?: I am a Naval Officer If you own a Mustang or classic car, have you named your car? The 1970 does not have a name yet. The 1966 is called RustyIf you've made improvements to your classic car or restored it, what work have you done?: 1970- Had the carb rebuilt, did some body work to get rid of the surface rust, I'm finishing up rewiring the whole car. 1966 convertible- rebuilt the front suspension, replaced the doors, replaced the grill and fog lights, new carb, new power convertible top system (still need the new top), currently in the process of rewiring this one as well. What plans do you have for improvements/restoration/modification of your classic car?:1970-planning for a high performance build, either a built 351 or possibly a coyote swap later down the road. 1966- building into a nice driver to have fun with. It has power steering, a/c, and disc brakes. W muzycznym podsumowaniu marca mówimy o Ukrainie oraz o inspirującym Andriy`u Khlyvnyuk`u, śpiewającym z ulic Kijowa. Zespoły Kraków Street Band, Blue Rumble i All Them Witches wydały znakomite nagrania, a wieść, że Rod Stewart reperuje drogi asfaltowe ubawiła nas w sposób szczególny :) EDIT: Kilka sprostowań bo są konieczne!Płytę Toma Waitsa “Like It`s 1999” nagrano w The Orpheum Theatre w Vancouver w Kanadzie. Był natomiast permanentnym członkiem Screaming Trees i Queens of The Stone Age.PS. Smutna wiadomość o śmierci perkusisty Foo Fighters, Taylora Hawkinsa, przyszła już po nagraniu tego odcinka Pick Please! Charyzmatyczny muzyk zmarł w Bogocie, 25 marca 2022. Exploring dreams is a powerful way to integrate psychedelic experiences. Our guest is Dr Tom Whalen. We talk about differences and similarities between dreaming and psychedelics in brain activation and in the abundance of various neuro transmitters. Tom talks about the importance of working with dreams non-interpretively since offered ideas can overrule the innate wisdom of the dreamer. We talk about Guru Yoga and also Tom's approach to working with dreams which he calls a Dream Koan practice. He will be presenting his work at the IASD conference in Tucson in July. We end with Tom demonstrating his non-interpretive approach by exploring a dream with Katherine. BIO: Tom Whalen is an MD practicing pain medicine. For the last 15 years, he's been following advances in neuroscience, including the use of psychedelics to treat addiction and PTSD. His passion lies in the realms of spiritual practice. He has been practicing Zen since 1971 and Archetypal Dreamwork since 1989. With these two practices, he has synthesized a “new” form of Zen practice, which he calls Dream-Koan practice. He currently offers this practice with Rick Issan Elkin, through the Eighth Wave Community at EighthWave.org. Also Look for Dr. Whalen at nogatezencenter.org and promotionofpeace.org. We play clips from the following two guest-selected songs: 'Jackie' James McMurtry and 'The Dirty Monk' Kevin Eubanks (album Zen Food). Outro music is Everything by Mood Science. Ambient music created by Rick Kleffel new every week. Many thanks to Rick Kleffel for also engineering the show, to Tony Russomano for answering the phones and to Ewa Malady for audio editing. Dr. Tom Whalen also appeared on the Dream Journal in October 2020. KSQD.org/zen-and-psychedelics-with-dr-tom-whalen/ Show aired on April 23, 2022. To celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month, I'm honored to welcome Kevin Eubanks, one of the most accomplished jazz musicians of his or any generation. As a prolific guitarist and composer, Kevin is frequently recognized for his role as former Music Director of The Tonight Show band, appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for 18 years. Yet it's what led up to this iconic role that is most intriguing. Today, Kevin shares about growing up with a strong musical influence, what it was like to hitchhike to gigs around Philadelphia at 13 years old and how he was able to overcome his shyness. And I can't forget to mention…Kevin shares a fantastic impersonation of Jay Leno that you don't want to miss. Learn more about this episode at JohnOLearyInspires.com/podcast.

Kevin Eubanks suffered a massive stroke 8 years ago, which left him paralyzed on his left side. Events like this have a way of transforming a person's perspective on life, and Kevin was no exception. Kevin and Laurie were recently featured on CBS's Sunday Morning and ABC's Good Morning America because of a simple invention that has given him the ability to "HugAgain." After going on and on about his blessings in life, Kevin was asked, "Are you more blessed now?" To which he replied, "Well… I see the blessings better now." Listen to this episode to hear about his redeemed view on life.

John-Michael's guests are world renown musicians Kevin Eubanks and Orrin Evans who have a new musical project called EEE (The Eubanks-Evans Experience.) the debut duo recording by two of jazz's most acclaimed and eclectic artists.Due out March 18, 2022, EEE brings together guitar great Kevin Eubanks with adventurous pianistOrrin Evans for a set that's as wide-ranging and unpredictable as audiences have come toexpect from these two risk-takers. Created in an atmosphere of spontaneity and try-anythingexperimentation, the repertoire veers from gut-rumbling blues to delicate, air impressionism, mixing up on-the-spot originals with funk-jazz deep cuts and classic tunes by jazz masters.Eubanks and Evans share more than their Philly roots - though that's not an aspect that can be discounted, and the city's tension between brotherly love and gritty attitudecourses through the album's veins. Both also bring a wealth of experience to the table, along with a friendship of long standing. Eubanks, middle brother of the well-known jazzfamily, made his name through a series of electrifying releases in the 1980s before spendinga decade and a half as a bandleader for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Since that stintended in 2010, he reemerged as a vital voice on the modern jazz scene leading hisown bands along with resuming his partnership with bassist Dave Holland in the bandPrism. Eubanks is also currently co-host of Fox First Run's hit comedy/game show You Bet Your Life with Jay Leno, which premiered in Fall, 2021 and was recently picked up for Year 2 for the 2022 - 2023 television season.Nominated for a 2018 Grammy Award his Captain Black Big Band, Evans hadbeen splitting his time recently between his own prolific performing career and newlyappointed role as the Artist in Residence of the DC Jazz Festival. While EEE marks the pair's recording debut as a duo, there's an inviting ease and scintillatingchemistry to the meeting of Evans and Eubanks that speaks to the parallel histories as wellas their shared fearlessness. That's reflected in their offbeat choice of material on the album, most of which was decided upon at the spur of the moment - both in studio and onstageat Philadelphia's Chris' Jazz Cafe. The album harkens back to Eubanks' 1983 debut Guitarist with the album's opening track "The Novice Bounce,"beginning the album with a sauntering improvisation which builds into a soulful bounce, rife with momentsof tasteful interplay. The duo continues with a reimagining of the Tom Browne song "Dreamin' of Lovin' You."Departing from the funky upbeat feel of the original, this version is an introspective ballad fully embodying the 'dream' aspect of the title. Evans contributed the heartfelt ballad "Dawn Marie," a tribute to his wifeand creative partner, Dawn Marie Evans.Freedom is a theme that throughout the DNA of this release, and the freedom of two like-minded, and deeply well-versed artists playing in a duo context allows for spontaneous creation of the highest echelon.SPRING 2022 TOUR DATES:3/30: Oakland, CA @ Yoshi's Oaklandhttps://yoshis.com/events/buy-tickets/eubanks-evans-experience/detail3/31: Santa Cruz, CA @ Kuumbwa Jazzhttps://www.kuumbwajaz

The two friends talk about what fans can expect to see when the new show airs in September.

What a blast it was to talk to Mark Mondesir. I've been a fan for many years and have always loved Mark's playing. In this conversation, we talk about a variety of subjects, including his time working with John McLaughlin, Courtney Pine, Jilian Joseph, and many others. ENJOY! Mark Mondesir was born in Stepney, London, on 12 December 1964. Mainly self taught, Mondesir attended various music workshops including Ian Carr's workshops at the Weekend Arts Centre. He began his professional career with Courtney Pine between 1985 and 1989 and recorded with Kevin Eubanks in 1991 & 1993 for the Blue Note label. In the 1990s he accompanied musicians who were visiting the UK; these included Art Farmer, Joanne Brackeen, Cecil Payne, Ronnie Matthews, James Williams, Hermeto Pascoal, Joe Zawinul, McCoy Tyner and John Scofield. Since the mid 90s he continues to play with Pee Wee Ellis... including a brief stint with James Brown's Bobby Byrd, Fred Wesley & Vicki Anderson early in that period. In the 1990s and early 2000s he was part of bands led by pianist Julian Joseph. From 2007 - 2010 he toured & recorded with John McLaughlin's Fourth Dimension Band including the Grammy nominated album To The One. He has also toured with Todd Sharpville with blues legends Joe Louis Walker & Duke Robillard, ex Deep Purple bassist/singer Glenn Hughes & later with Jethro Tull in 2009.

Welcome back to another episode of the DrumGAB podcast! This week is a very special interview with one of my personal favorite modern drummers, Eric Harland. In this episode the discussion is deep. We break down some components of drumming in an interactive exercise that I also explored with Aric Improta recently, being in the moment with music and if there are influences unrelated to music that inspire Eric’s playing, to name a few. Then in the second portion of our interview, we explore spirituality, why we are here and self-perception. This is a very insightful episode and ranks as one of the best episodes to date, IMO. Who is Eric? Eric Harland is a multi-grammy nominated drummer and is one of the most in-demand drummers of his generation. Already in his career, he has been featured on close to 200 recordings, including Joshua Redman’s “James Farm”, “Prism” from Dave Holland and Kevin Eubanks and his very own group “Voyager”. Overall, Eric is an incredibly ethereal musician who has inspired players all over the world. Key Moments in this Episode - We begin by examining 8 components to drumming. Creativity, Timekeeping, Endurance, Independence, Coordination, Groove, Chops, Technique. Eric’s interpretation is far different from what we heard previously on Aric Improta’s episode but each player expresses very convincing points of view that opens up our own minds towards this question. - Next, we explore nonmusical influences towards his music making. Eric explains that everything acts as an influence. As our minds process our surroundings, our moods, and personal circumstances, it all affects how we create music. - What follows is the moment of music. Eric expresses how this varies for him. Sometimes he is hired to fulfill a role musically and how it is not always a situation that he relates to internally and how he wishes to convey creativity through the instrument. Another component of this discussion is subconscious listening and how we can enter “the zone” with music and be on another level of listening. - To wrap up our discussion with music and performance, we talk about musical freedom. How do we obtain freedom on the instrument? Eric breaks down how time is simply a measurement. Anything can happen within time as long as you have internalized it. He encourages people to understand that we as players do not need to lock into time with our playing but rather internalize the space of time and play within that in order to be free. - The second chapter of this episode deals with life and spirituality. We start things off with the beginnings of his spiritual quest, where he grew up in a very religious household and would eventually study theology and become an ordained minister. However, after some time he began to feel that he could do something wrong and ended up leaving the church to explore other spiritual possibilities. To this day he remains open to receive and process what is possible with spirituality. - I ask Eric, “If someone were to approach you who struggled with inner peace, how would you respond?” Eric in all his wisdom replied to me with “What is so important about inner peace?” Now that may seem like he disregarded my question, but believe me, his reasoning behind that statement was what blew my mind in this interview. - Eric had recently received an award from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and he selflessly gave his award away to someone he felt deserved it more. In his speech, he talks about how we don’t really know how we see ourselves, instead we just experience life. So this made me want to ask him his opinion on self-perception and whether we know how we truly live as people. Again, another part of this interview that is so deep and so wise. - To conclude, I ask Eric what the most impactful advice he had received in his life was. At first he had difficulty recalling something specific but eventually, he recalled elderly women telling him “don’t sweat the small stuff.” Simple but very true and he elaborates a bit on that to bring more substance to the point. Concluding Thoughts Eric Harland is a musician that I noticed quite a number of years ago and instantly enjoyed how he played. While I wasn’t incredibly familiar with all of the work he has done, the preparation for this interview really allowed me the chance to see more into his life and his values through all of the interviews I have watched or listened to before speaking to him. So typically for me, my favorite conversations are ones that surround spirituality, the beauty of life and music and Eric is all of those things and a perfect guest to explore these topics with. This was definitely one of my favorite interview experiences as a host and how it translated as a listening experience, it encapsulated the essence of my podcast. Eric is a truly wonderful human being and I am very thankful that he took some time to speak with me and explore some interesting subject matter on the podcast. Music featured in this podcast is from Eric Harland's Journey. Album is titled Vipassana Other music is from Eric Harland's loop pack from The Loop Loft Eric's Socials Instagram | Facebook | Website DrumGAB's Socials Instagram | Facebook | Website
In the 12th edition of The Hot Box we establish a flashback to jazz events in Ireland in the distant past. "Free jazz for the price of half a pint" said our correspondent, who was an impecunious student in 1964. Now dubbed Unreliable Memories, in the next historic tale, Donald Helme recalls Ireland's Number 1 location for the presentation of jazz in the late 1960s, The Fox Inn in Ballymadun, Ashbourne, Co. Hot Box 12 features tracks by Konitz and Waldron, plus a never-before heard piece by Jim Riley himself after he had sold up and settled in Denver, Colorado. Plus new work by guitarist Kevin Eubanks, Hammond exponent Joey DeFrancesco and violinist Christian Garrick.
