(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By  Kevin Swanson Chinese Communists intensifying regulation of churches Christian Daily Korea reports that communist China intensified its regulation of Christian churches effective May 1st. The additional regulations will place controls on missions, Christian education, fundraising, and religious activities over the internet. Specifically, many South Korean missionaries have already been expelled or denied visas under China's increasingly aggressive crackdown since 2017.  South Korean election coming up The South Korean election is planned for June 3rd. A professing Christian, former Prime Minister Han Duck-Soo, is running as an independent in the race. His wife, Choi Ah-young, is a fourth generation Christian. Her father is an elder. And her great grandfather founded a number of churches during the Japanese colonial period of the 1920s and 1930s.  Han's entry heats up the scramble among conservatives to unify behind a candidate to compete with liberal front-runner Lee Jae-myung, whose campaign recently was set back by a court decision to open a new trial on election law violation charges, reports ABC News. 106,745 Russian soldiers and 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died Since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian War, 106,745 Russian soldiers have been killed.  The last year was the most deadly, with a reported loss of 45,287 Russian lives. Ukrainian casualty numbers vary widely — with as many as 13,000 civilians and 60,000 soldiers counted among the dead. Australia lurches left like Canada Following the Canadian election which tipped towards the anti-God, secular humanist, progressive side, Australia did the same thing over the weekend. The liberal Labor Party has secured at least 86 seats in parliament, up from 77 in its last go around.   Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set for his second three-year term in power.  Muslims have six kids on average compared to low fertility of others The global birth rate is crossing the 2.2 children-per-woman mark, crossing over the replacement level of 2.1.That's down from 5.3 children per woman in 1963 worldwide. World Bank data points to the Muslim-heavy nations of Somalia, Chad, Niger, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo with the highest fertility rates exceeding six children per woman. Countries with the lowest birth rates below 1.0 child per woman include South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Chile, and Puerto Rico. Eastern Europe is seeing the steepest declines in birth rates. Deuteronomy 28:15-18 reminds us of God's dealings with nations: “But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God or be careful to do all His commandments and His statutes that I command you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you. Cursed shall you be in the field.  Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Cursed shall be the fruit of your womb.” Oil becoming less expensive World oil prices have sunk to $57 per barrel — about the same price as it was in 1987. The average gas price in the United States is $3.26 per gallon, down from $3.76 per gallon last summer. Disney pushes homosexual scene in “Star Wars Andor” Disney has incorporated a prominent homosexual scene in its latest episode of Star Wars Andor. This marks another milestone in the ongoing homosexualization of Disney, with the scene marking the first prominent display of homosexuality for featured characters. Disney has increased its revenues to $91 billion per year, and has registered another 5% increase in its first quarter in 2025.  Overall revenues for the entertainment company are up about 20% since the pro-homosexual organization entered into a conflict with Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.   Levi Strauss and Disney were the first companies to provide benefits to homosexual employees between 1992 and 1995. Conservative Presbyterians growing and Liberal Presbyterians fading The Presbyterian Church in America, the largest conservative Calvinist denomination in the United States, is registering its highest number of members in its 51-year history — topping 400,700 this year. Offerings were up 7.4%, year-over-year, according to stats just released by the denomination. Another conservative denomination, the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, registers 33,520 members, growing at a rate of 3% per year. Meanwhile, the more liberal PCUSA church membership has dropped off from 3.1 million to 1.1 million over the last 40 years. Warren Buffet gave $8.4 billion to fund abortion And finally, Warren Buffett has announced his retirement from Berkshire Hathaway, as Chief Executive, effective January 1st. The 94-year-old Buffett is currently listed as the sixth richest man in the world behind Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, and Bernard Arnault of France.    Buffett's foundations have provided $8.4 billion to pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation. Plus, Buffett was a major supporter of the “RU-486” abortion kill pill. Forbes reports that other major pro-abortion billionaire donors include: Mackenzie Scott (Amazon's Jeff Bezos's ex-wife), the Bill Gates Foundation, the Hewlett Family, Michael Bloomberg, and George Soros. But now, take comfort in these words from Isaiah 49: 24-26. The prophet asks, “Can the prey be taken from the mighty or the captives of a tyrant be rescued? For thus says the Lord: ‘Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken, and the prey of the tyrant be rescued, for I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children. I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with wine. It was a complex and ultimately failed process in achieving full equality for Black Americans due to resistance from white Southerners, the rise of discriminatory laws (like Jim Crow), and a lack of sustained federal support. However, Reconstruction did lay the groundwork for future civil rights efforts with the passage of the Constitution's 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments.     —Essentially, Jim Crow was a system designed to maintain white supremacy and deny Black Americans their basic rights and equal opportunities after the Civil War and the failure of Reconstruction. New York City in the 1970s and 1980s was, to put it lightly, not a very safe or nice place to live. Drugs, crime, and public-sector mismanagement made it dangerous and unpleasant, and even the very wealthy were not entirely immune from the disorder. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the city rebounded in an incredible way, and a great deal of that civic revitalization found its roots in the policy research of a small think tank focused on urban affairs, the Manhattan Institute. Utilizing new approaches to law enforcement and other governance matters that scholars at the Manhattan Institute incubated, Mayors Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg restored and improved New York. Then came a wave of politicians in city hall and in Albany who forgot the hard-won lessons of the 90s revival, and the city in the last fifteen or so years has experienced a resurgence of crime, drug abuse, untreated mental illness, homelessness, and violence, along with the tell-tale signs of urban decay and disorder. In all of this, as ever, the Jewish community of New York served as the canary in the coal mine, and a spate of anti-Semitic violence preceded and then coincided with the general unraveling. To discuss how this breakdown of order can be halted and reversed, Mosaic's editor Jonathan Silver is joined by the irrepressible policy entrepreneur and conservative visionary, the fifth president of the Manhattan Institute, Reihan Salam. Together they address the civic health of New York, the most Jewish city in America; what it takes to re-moralize the culture; what urban conservatism is; and why Salam believes that the work he and his colleagues are doing at the Manhattan Institute could lay the groundwork for New York's next come back. Michael Bloomberg ranks as the top philanthropist in the U.S. for 2024, donating $3.7 billion to support various causes including the arts, education, public health, and city improvement. This donation marks Bloomberg's second consecutive year leading the Philanthropy 50 list. His philanthropic organization, Bloomberg Philanthropies, contributed notably with a $1 billion grant to Johns Hopkins University for medical education costs. Other major donors in 2024 include Reed Hastings and Patty Quillin, Michael and Susan Dell, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, and Ruth Gottesman, each donating $1 billion or more, focusing primarily on scientific research and education. Gottesman's donation aimed to make the Albert Einstein College of Medicine tuition-free. Overall, the top 50 philanthropists contributed a collective $16.2 billion, with a median donation of $100 million. Significant contributions include Thomas Golisano's $500 million to support individuals with disabilities and K. Lisa Yang's $74.5 million towards MIT and Cornell University. The Philanthropy 50 has been published for 25 years, with Warren Buffett noted as the largest individual donor at $49.4 billion. The AI-video of Trump's Gaza, featuring a golden statue of the President, finally has Christians worried about his role in the rise of the anti-Christ. A similar golden statue of King Nebuchadnezzar was recorded in the book of Daniel, an object the people were required to worship upon the playing of music. However, three Jews named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, refused to worship that statue and were thus thrown into a furnace. In a scary parallel, the same day Trump pinned the golden video, in the golden age, to his Truth Social, the Department of Justice antisemitism task force condemned all criticism and opinion of Israel, stating: “We are going to put these people in jail—not for 24 hours, but for years.” This is an expansion of the violations of the First Amendment, which includes shutting down protests, free speech, and press if any anti-Israel statement or action perceived. This same administration is now talking about expanding red flag laws and abiding by due process only in name, something the Michael Bloomberg groups love. The golden statue could also be viewed in another way, especially since the Jews were no strangers to worshiping false idols like the golden bull or Remphen. As universal tolerance of religion was the norm in the Roman world, only one group of people refused to participate. Jewish communities, which had sealed themselves off from the rest of mankind, rejected the Roman acceptance of all religions, and rejected the sacrifice offered to their god by Augustus, refusing to offer even an empty gesture to Jupiter. This, along with universally foreign customs, caused Jews to be disliked. Edward Gibbon writes further, “The conquest of the land of Canaan was accomplished with so many wonderful and with so many bloody circumstances that the victorious Jews were left in a state of irreconcilable hostility with all their neighbors.” And this is where we find ourselves today, where much of the hatred for Israel is a byproduct of their own penmanship. The Democrat protests are financed to make Israel a victim, something Republicans are financed to remedy through war. The US Government is occupied by the authors of destruction to every act of civility and natural rights. Nations, peoples, groups, religions, etc., are turning on Jews and Israel, to the detriment of decent Jews. 20 years ago, the late Christo and Jeanne-Claude transformed Central Park with The Gates, a temporary public art installation featuring 7,503 saffron-colored gates adorned with free-flowing fabric. When Massachusetts voters decided to ditch the state's standardized tests as a high school graduation requirement on Election Day, they joined a trend that has steadily chipped away at the use of high-stakes tests over the past two decades. The vote on the ballot question leaves only seven states with mandated graduation exams, a number that could soon shrink further. A backlash to standardized tests has been fueled by complaints that they take up too much classroom time and questions about how well they measure readiness for college or careers. It has gained steam in recent years with concerns about equity and learning setbacks during the COVID-19 pandemic. In Massachusetts, a teachers' union led the campaign against the graduation requirement, arguing it was keeping too many students from receiving a diploma and weighing too heavily on choices about school curriculum. The other side received backing from prominent business leaders including former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and state officials including Gov. Maura Healey, a Democrat. "We shouldn't have different expectations for students depending on which zip code they live in," Healey said. "We should have a uniformity to our expectations and they should be high for our students and our families." The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) tests are given in mathematics, science and technology and English. The ballot question didn't end the tests, which are also used for assessing student progress. But passing them will no longer be required for a diploma. About 1% of high school seniors in Massachusetts, about 700 students, are denied a diploma each year because they failed the MCAS despite meeting other requirements. Most are English language learners or students with disabilities. Harry Feder, executive director of FairTest, which opposes using tests as graduation requirements, said it makes sense to shift away from the tests he calls a "cheap and easy way" to conduct education. "What we want out of high school grads isn't measured very well by a standardized test," he said, including whether students are critical thinkers, problem solvers or able to collaborate. Brad Briner is the leading candidate for the Treasurer of North Carolina in the upcoming November election, a role that includes managing the state's $115 billion pension fund. Brad put himself in the ring for the seat after twenty-five years of investment experience, serving most recently as Co-CIO of Willett Advisors, Michael Bloomberg's family office. This week, we unfortunately have to talk about a story that comes with a content warning. News of NRA CEO Doug Hamlin's involvement in the torture and killing of a cat during college resurfaced on Monday. Hamlin has denied "direct" involvement, but contemporaneous reporting indicates his role was more than ancillary. Cam Edwards of Bearing Arms joins the show to work out what this all means for the already-battered NRA. Cam said the story is gruesome and will make it difficult for Hamlin to effectively reform the organization as he's said he wants to. But he also argued it may not stick to the NRA for longer than Hamlin is around, especially given the lightning-quick nature of the modern news cycle. He also said the animal cruelty story may have had an impact on the group canceling its Georgia event with Donald Trump, but that might also be part of a broader trend of Trump canceling events. Still, he said the scandal is likely to hurt the NRA's efforts to rebound from its previous CEO's, as yet unsettled, corruption scandal. And it's becoming increasingly clear how much that's put them at a disadvantage against the gun-control groups when it comes to political spending. We also discuss Elon Musk's recent pro-gun turn and whether he could become a counter to Michael Bloomberg's funding of gun-control groups. Yair Zivan is a young British-Israeli who for the past decade has served as foreign policy advisor to Israel's Opposition Leader, Yair Lapid, head of the centrist party Yesh Atid (“There Is a Future”). He is the editor of a new collection of essays entitled The Center Must Hold: Why Centrism Is the Answer to Extremism and Polarization. Contributors include leaders and commentators from around the globe including former British prime minister Tony Blair, former Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull, former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, and some forty other essayists. In this volume, Zivan and the other contributors make the case that centrism is a distinct ideology that seeks to “create a constant balance between the contradictions of modern life,” and one that draws good ideas from both left and right but cannot be reduced to merely a midpoint between the two. In this podcast interview, Zivan analyzes both the pragmatic foundations of centrism but also its underlying ideological framework, which rests particularly on an unswerving commitment to liberal democracy and its institutions.
