Hari Sama is film director and musician of their latest project Noble Savage. @deafproducciones.mxhttps://www.youtube.com/@NobleSavagebandAs the echoes of our Delic Comedy live event still resonate with laughter and camaraderie, Amber B and I circle back to this unforgettable night. We unpack the riotous joy and elbow grease that sculpted such an uproarious affair, with shoutouts to Johnny C of West Coast PopLock podcast, Johnny Gold from Inland Empire, and the sonic waves of our house band, Heroes Del Sol. Our post-show unwind? Picture us frolicking with dogs on a Sunday, a snapshot of the whimsy and warmth that fuels the MindBuzz podcast.Strap in for a sonic pilgrimage to Mexico in the 1980s, where goth rock reverberated against political tensions and gave voice to a vibrant, defiant artistic and LGBTQ community. My own teenage years, cradled by the sounds of Joy Division, guide us through shadowy corridors as we reflect on the unexpected diversity of Mexican music genres, from post-punk to Latinx expressions. The necessity of Latinx voices in art isn't just a point of pride—it's a resounding truth we celebrate, especially when the language of music transcends borders and unites us in a melody of shared experience. We tie the threads of our conversation with introspection on how creativity acts as both a balm and a beacon through life's storms. The pandemic's silver lining? A chance to excavate our personal shadows and channel them into artistry that's as raw as the human condition itself. From Noble Savage's danceable beats to anticipated film projects, Amber and I are stoking the fires for more MindBuzz experiences—your invitation to the fusion of sound, soul, and the stories that compose our collective tapestry. My Grito Industriesmygrito.net Subscribe to The Mindbuzz Youtube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIYj7eDCsV3YPzxv7VRKZKg Don't forget to follow us on Instagram @themindbuzz https://www.instagram.com/themindbuzz/ to keep up with our hosts, guests, and upcoming events! Should we go back to a world before civilisation? Looking for a link we mentioned? It's here: https://linktr.ee/philosophyforourtimesWith high rates of infanticide, senicide and disease, not many of us pine for the era before human civilization, farms and nations. Yet anthropologists Yuval Harari and Jared Diamond have called the agricultural revolution a"trap"and humanity's "worst mistake”, arguing hunter gatherer life was more leisurely and free, as humans were not tied down to private property or oppressed by hierarchy. Is there a way to keep the benefits of industry and technology while also living as freely as our untamed ancestors? Should we go further and rewild to escape the status, hierarchy and oppression of civilisation? Or is this an impossible fantasy born out of a misunderstanding of anthropology and the idealistic myth of the ‘noble savage'?Paleobiologist Mark Williams, Conservative former cabinet minister Peter Lilley and former leader of the Green Party Natalie Bennett weigh in on civilisation as we know it. Sam Biagetti of Historiansplaining podcast joins me to discuss what's good, what's bad, and what's ugly in David Graber and David Wengrow's "The Dawn of Everything." We begin with an appreciative account of their dismantling of deterministic accounts of human social evolution, and then turn to a critical assessment of their theoretical assumption, their peculiar revisionist account of the Enlightenment, and their undervaluing of myth, ritual, and transcendence. What if everything we thought we knew about the origins of human civilisation is a myth? In their book The Dawn of Everything, the late David Graeber and his collaborator David Wengrow tell an ambitious and revelatory new history of the world – one that overturns the notion of Rosseau's innocent Noble Savage and the ‘nasty, brutish and short' lives of Thomas Hobbes alike. In this episode of the podcast, Wengrow joins former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis to transform your understanding of our past and offer a powerful, playful, and extraordinarily original vision of our future.   Learn more about your ad choices. Over the last few years, we've heard that white people ought to “shut up and listen” when it comes to questions of race and racism. Yet Dan Schneider's 2005 book, Show & Tell: A White Man's Antiphonal Primer on Race, argues the exact opposite: that understanding white psychology, white leverage and material advantages is the key to unlocking all else. As he writes in the text, racism, to black America, is a burden to be lived through, but what is it to white America – and why does it persist? In this conversation, Dan Schneider and Alex Sheremet discuss these and other questions, set against the context of Dan's own experience of racism in New York City through the 1970/80s. Topics covered: the black Noble Savage myth in liberal + conservative factions; the materially hollow antiracism of Robin DiAngelo (“White Fragility”); the killing of Ma'Khia Bryant; multi-ethnic racial tension; white “appropriation” of black culture; the myth of the model minority, and much more. Primitive socialism was a concept put forward by Marx and Engels who argued that the basal condition of humanity in foraging communities was that of a socialist utopia. The narrative of a long history of egalitarian, altruistic hunter-gatherers is incredibly attractive to aspirational socialists. Dr. Dozier argue that this portrayal of human prehistory is romanticized and unsupported by archaeological and anthropological evidence. The myth of primitive socialism, however, has continued past Marx and Engles, due to its simple and attractive narrative consistent with the Noble Savage myth.

An interesting spin on the Zombie Apocalypse, Jeff Barnaby’s Blood Quantum confronts an oft-neglected yet central question within the genre: would you ethnically cleanse a refugee camp if you got your dick bitten off? Blood Quantum flips the racial animus of the zombie apocalypse on its head: white people become zombies and First Nations people based on the Mi'kmaq are immune. The film doesn’t stray too far into the Noble Savage stereotype, likely due to its predominantly indigenous cast and crew, and instead provides a grounded look into the realities of life on a reservation and their reverberations into the apocalypse. The movie isn’t without its issues, especially when it comes to tone, but we mostly enjoyed it. Blood Quantum’s high points are excellent, and most of those are centered around characters mowing down hordes of zombies. At a tight 90 minutes, Blood Quantum is worth a watch for fans of the genre or if you just want to check out a First Nations-led film project (available on Shudder). In this episode we discuss all things Occult-Nazi, usually a crowd pleasing topic for some odd reason.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide you with the ‘Ancient Aliens’ version; but alas, despite the lack of sensationalism in the vein of Nordics and Greys working directly with S.S. officers in search of a hollow earth using ancient Atlantean technology, there’s still plenty of strangeness to go around.  However, that strangeness might make some uncomfortable who hold to a more New Age or Theosophical world view, as perhaps your beliefs have far more in common with Nazi Occultism than you might previously have thought, aside from that whole ’Aryan-supremacy’ thing they had going on.
Part 2 for Members: We wrap up our focus on the individuals most responsible for this Germanic-Occult revival, and find how contradictory it all is, where much of the esoteric knowledge actually came from Kabalistic Jéws, despite these Nazi’s seeing them as a sworn enemy.  The Noble Savage ideal stemming from the Enlightenment has many different manifestations tied to their own subjective ‘gnosis’, usually taking them back to an antiquity of priest-kings before the evil-demiurge worshipper ‘desert-cult’ of Christianity put this divine “Sophia” in shackles for 1,000 years of Dark Ages; but alas, this ancient wisdom of ‘insert-your-favorite-Pagan-LARP-here’ shall rise again and conquer this evil Saturnine principle of darkness and ignorance!  At least that is the battle cry… but, is this perhaps a dialectic to pit you against others claiming the same thing for different reasons, caught in an all-devouring revolution against European Christendom?  Important questions to consider, and perhaps this is the true ‘gnosis’ you can gain from studying The Occult Roots of Nazism.

AB3, Host of The Bryant Land Show, talks with Merrell Ligons, CEO of Noble Savage camo in Austin, Texas. Merrell Ligons and AB3 talks about the ups and downs of putting together a brand, him putting together his camo pattern and building it up to where it is today. They also talk about turkey season.    Episode Highlights:  AB3 introduces guest Merrell Ligons. Rain is needed for food plots.   What made Merrell want to start Noble Savage?  Animals inspired the color scheme and design concept for Merrell Ligon's camo?  Does he trust and enjoy the process or does he look at the end result?  He was a middle-fielder and a second baseman for minor league professional baseball.  Working with a to-do list keeps Merrell going.   How long did it take to go from concept to the product in his hand?  Was there a time of frustration and concern when building the brand?  He talks about creating his business plan and it being a ‘living, breathing document.'  Merrell says that he hasn't had anyone come out negatively against Native Savage.   What changes will he make this year based on his testing and his distribution expanding?  Patience and feeling burned out when you aren't seeing immediate results are challenges that arise.  Have a network of people you trust around you.  Where does he hunt turkey and when is their turkey season?  Noblesavagecamo.com has a newsletter you can sign up for.    3 Key Points: March 21st is the opening of turkey season in the state of Georgia.     Noble Savage is exploring fabrics to help hunters be quieter, more protected from weather, and comfortable in the field.   Kids are a great focus group to test out the apparel.    Tweetable Quotes: “My kind of inspiration for the pattern itself and the color scheme and things like that really came from what I saw in the woods from nature. I wanted to be inspired by that.” – Merrell Ligons “Noble Savage is an outdoor apparel brand. We create products for the hunting market right now and have visions and aspirations for expanding to other markets in the outdoor industry as well.” – Merrell Ligons “Hunters, we experience a wide range of weather conditions, terrain, and things like that and it is the perfect proving ground for a lot of things.” – Merrell Ligons   Resources Mentioned: The Bryant Land Country Podcast Follow Bryant Land on social media: Linkedin | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube Merrell Liggons: Twitter Noble Savage Noble Savage's Social Media: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter

The House of Atreus Act 2". Don't Piss In My Pocket And Tell Me It's Raining

Recently I attended a very touching world-prayer service at a church in Woodstock. Representatives of all of the major faiths spoke and prayed. Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and Native Americans prayed together for peace, and for the healing of the earth, especially the Gulf of Mexico.I was very touched by the earnest and forthright prayers from all of those present, but one presentation, though equally well intentioned, stuck in my craw nonetheless.A women who is actually from England but part of a local Native American community got up to speak. The first thing she said was that indigenous peoples the world over have always had reverence for the environment and for human dignity. This is a patently absurd statement. Entire indigenous cultures have imploded due to overuse and misuse of resources. And, of course, there is the egregious example of the Northwest American tribes Potlatch ceremonies. These ceremonies sometimes devolved from simple giving away of goods and food (and, I might add, slaves) to the actual destruction of food – a sort of keep up with the joneses frenzy wherein two tribes tried to outdo each other in the wanton destruction of foodstuffs to prove that they were the most prosperous and powerful. Oprah Winfrey seems very proud of her Zulu roots, though the Zulus were famous for raping and pillaging their enemies, and zealously practicing impalement and other forms of torture. Other tribes viewed them as human locusts. The obvious truth, if one looks past a sort of paternalistic ‘Noble Savage’ reductionism that reveres anyone non-white as implicitly wiser, kinder and gentler, is that white people have no lock on evil deeds in this world, and people of color have no lock on grace, decency or environmental sensitivity. To me, such idealizations of any ethnic group are at their most benign the product of simplistic thinking, and at their most malignant, the bases for prejudice, war, and terror. There seems to be a self-hating aspect to many white people. They see how their race’s dominance on the planet, economically and technologically, has decimated the world’s species, and caused untold human suffering and death. Yet to implicitly blame this on the color of the perpetrators skin by putting all non-whites on a sort of pedestal not only flies in the face of the historic record, but indulges in the same style of racist thinking that these same people would find reprehensible in an unreconstructed Klansman or Nazi.Blacks seeking reparations only seem intent on getting them from the white countries involved in slaving, never from the African countries that of course made the entire slave trade possible through their collusion with whites. A white researcher in the southwest is virtually pilloried for proving that the ancestors of the Navajo practiced cannibalism against the Anasazi. Yet all he did was find the evidence, not fabricate it; And one has only to visit places like Mesa Verde and Canyon de Chelly to see the evidence of a people under siege, living not on the open plain, but clinging instead to high cliff faces, walled into houses with tiny windows. And all was not peace and love among the bloodthirsty Incans and Mayans either. The truth is that all humanity shares linked proclivities for evil as well as for good. None are immune from the violence and hierarchical nature we’ve inherited from our primate forbears, just as we all share a divine spark capable of the most exquisite love, creativity, and caring for all living creatures. The reductionist Politically Correct thinking that denies this universal human duality has been the cause of much suffering, whether used in the service of supporting slavery in the nascent United States, or in drumming out white farmers in Zimbabwe, which turned that country into a famine-wracked ruin.As a Taoist I find it odd that people seem to focus on only one side of things. Some see humankind – or some subset thereof - as inherently evil, some as inherently good. I see a duality well reflected in nature itself. Look to the lioness, tenderly playing with her cubs , and ruthlessly ripping out the throat of the zebra, to see the duality of all creation manifest all around us.
