Inspiring Women with Betty Collins

Amid a world often blurred by hustle and routine, recognizing the profound lessons nestled within our everyday experiences can be transformative. In the latest episode of "Hidden In Plain View Lessons Learned with Eileen McDargh pt 2," Eileen, celebrated author, and keynote speaker, discusses the art of unearthing these hidden teachings and the impact they have on personal growth and hope. A significant takeaway from McDargh and Collins is the endorsement of documenting our experiences. Writing down our stories facilitates reflection, fosters gratitude, and solidifies the lessons we learn. Eileen shares a poignant moment from facing a thunderstorm in the Rockies and the subsequent emergence of the moon, a symbol representing the hopeful turnover of life's challenges. Resilience isn't just about enduring; it's about thriving through adversity and recognizing our collective and personal milestones. Together, Eileen and Betty underscore the necessity of celebrating these moments, encouraging a heart of gratitude even amid trials. Top Takeaways 1. The Reflective Journey: Emphasize the significance of introspection on failures and taking incremental steps toward change. 2. Lessons From Nature: Highlight the metaphorical wisdom of Eileen McDargh's mountain trek, conveying messages about carrying only what's necessary and staying aware of hidden risks. 3. The Art of Asking Questions: Underline the practice of questioning as a means to discover joy and contribute to the world, using personal anecdotes to illustrate the power of inquisitiveness. 6. Wisdom Activation: Encourage listeners to engage with their surroundings intentionally—stopping, looking, and listening—to glean foresight and understanding from their environment. 7. Reframing Challenges: Urge listeners to adopt a mindset of reframing difficulties into opportunities for growth and to reject the pull of negativity. 8. Documenting the Journey: Advocate for writing down life experiences as a tool for reflection, lesson extraction, and cultivating gratitude. 9. Celebration of Progress: Betty Collins emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and celebrating even minor advancements amidst challenging times. 10. Resilience and New Experiences: Dive into the theme of resilience, discussed by Eileen and Betty, and encourage listeners to embrace new experiences as a means to learn, grow, and reinforce their adaptability. Inspiring Women with Betty Collins

In a particularly uplifting episode titled "Hidden In Plain View, Lessons Learned with Eileen McDargh pt 1," we soaked in the wisdom of speaker and author Eileen McDargh, whose own journey from hardship to growth personifies the treasures tucked within trials. Taking lessons from life's playbook is a craft that Eileen McDargh has mastered. Her insightful books, available on her website (www.eileenmcdargh.com) and Amazon, come highly recommended for their depth wrapped in simple wisdom. Eileen's engaging conversation anticipates further enlightening discussions, hinting at a wildly anticipated part 2. Eileen McDargh's chronicle reveals the resilience she's honed from Georgia to California—through divorce, a fresh marital chapter, and career shifts from healthcare to PR, culminating in a cathartic break from the inauthentic grind of press release fabrication. The ensuing path Eileen carved out as a speaker and writer underlines a central theme: the power of stories and the potency of personal experiences as guiding instruments for others. Joy—often mistaken for happiness—is a conscious choice in the darkest hours, as Eileen McDargh stresses. Whether navigating the turbulent waters of a dysfunctional relationship or facing job loss head-on, joy becomes the compass that guides us through adversity, imbuing our reality with purpose and direction. Challenges of Success: "Downhill is more dangerous than uphill. And when you think about that, if you are climbing the corporate ladder, it's one thing when you get to the top of the mountain, but there's something on the other side, and it's more dangerous because we become cocky. We know it all. We're not as careful as we were, and that's what happened to me." — Eileen McDargh Every episode of joblessness, every stumble in our professional walks, houses a lesson waiting to be unearthed—an opportunity to unearth latent talents and to cultivate them. Eileen and Betty highlight the necessity of embracing our errors as catalysts for immense personal growth and the discovery of gifts that were concealed in plain view. In a world where negativity can seem like second nature to some, changing perspectives may pose a significant challenge. Yet, Eileen McDargh recalls turning arduous moments into lessons of ingenuity—how a challenging climb can reward the persistent with unexpected spices to life's mundane flavors, like wild onions to a simple ramen. One of the most uplifting takeaways from Eileen's inspiring career trajectory is the anecdote of her initial foray into public speaking—doubling her suggested speaking fee by client's offer, an invaluable lesson in self-worth. Eileen has since grown into a captivating keynote speaker, coach, and facilitator, inspiring countless others to claim their value. Eileen's book "Gifts from the Mountain" is a testament to life's raw teachings, spawned from a personal undertaking she shared with her husband. Inspired by this robust journey, "Hidden in Plain View" evolved, hinging on the ideology that within every tumble lies a teaching moment, guiding us towards revelatory personal and professional development. Top Takeaways 1. The Art of Reframing: Transforming challenges into opportunities for growth through a change in perspective. 2. Valuing Personal Worth: Learning the importance of recognizing and asserting one's value in professional negotiations. 3. Hidden Lessons Everywhere: Emphasizing the concept that valuable lessons can often be found in everyday experiences if we look closely. 4. Choosing Joy Over Happiness: Understanding the distinction between joy as a deeper, more resilient state, versus the fleeting nature of happiness. 5. Growth from Discomfort: Encouraging listeners to embrace uncomfortable situations as they often lead to personal development and unexpected discoveries. 6. Recognizing Dysfunction: The importance of identifying signs of dysfunction in relationships or work environments and using the...

Now that HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW is back with new music they are capturing a whole new generation of fans. Joe tells stories of inspiration, admiration, and love. He even sprinkles in some stories of moments that things had to change for him while performing. The moments that sometimes break us, are the moments that make us. Have you heard of historiography? Your historiography is the method you employ in doing history. This is especially relevant when the scholars who make the rules for doing history decide to exclude any supernatural events from their historiography. Today, my guest, Aaron Shelenberger, continues his rebuttal to Ehrman's three main objections to the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus. We discuss Ehrman's contentions that supernatural events are inaccessible to historians and the prevalence of methodological naturalism. I can't tell you how many times I've looked for some item in our refrigerator at home and turned away declaring “we don't have any” with absolute confidence…only to have my wife reopen the door and point to said item on the front of the shelf at eye level (and then walk away muttering something about living with an overgrown toddler).I'm just sayin', some things seem to hide in plain view. The reality is, God is often like that. There are things going on and aren't too easy to spot on the surface, but given time, consideration and prayer, emerge in a fuller detail. In Isaiah 45:15 the prophet declares “Surely, You're a God who hides Himself!” and I can't argue with him on that. We're going to continue our study in Luke this Sunday, reading ch 20:41- ch 21:4, where we'll encounter a few “hidden” things. Jesus will pose a riddle, give a rebuke and make an observation about these somewhat obfuscated things. In 20:41-44 Jesus has his turn to present a riddle – one that quotes Psalm 110 about the promised messianic King – and Jesus asks why David, the ancestor, makes himself subservient to the descendant, instead of the other way around. What do you think Jesus is trying to communicate in this riddle about His own nature? What might be hidden in the person of Jesus that many were overlooking at the time, and many overlook today? In v 45-47 Jesus rebukes the religious leaders for making an empty show of their spirituality. What might be hiding out behind an emphasis on outward religious performance?Jesus is people watching in ch 21:1-4 and makes an observation about something that could easily have remain hidden and gone unnoticed. A poor widow gives to the temple treasury out of her poverty and outgives all those who gave from a fraction of their abundance. Take some time to contemplate the lesson of that observation. We usually hear it taught as an impetus to give more to the church…but there is something deeper going on than that. Refer back to Jesus' rebuke in ch20:47…who were the religious leaders taking advantage of? Think back to what Jesus did when he first entered the temple in ch 19:45-46. What do we make of this woman's gift and God's response to it in light of who the recipient of the gift is? That's something to really ponder for a bit. This is an intriguing group of texts we'll be exploring this Sunday – I hope you can join us!Click here for a pdf of the teaching slideshow.

Heralded as a “golden-voiced troubadour” and one of the “32 N.J. bands and artists you need to hear in 2022” by NJ.com, Rory D'Lasnow picked up his late father's guitar upside-down and backward at the age of six. Despite never turning his guitar right-side-up, Rory's unique contemplative sound has propelled him on to perform at some of the East Coast's most distinguished venues and festivals such as Mercury Lounge, House of Independents, and the Atlantic City Beer & Music Festival. His penchant for evocative and vulnerable storytelling has earned him international radio airplay, opening slots for The Early November, Knuckle Puck, American Idol Winner Lee DeWyze, Actor/Musician Drake Bell, and John Corabi of Mötley Crüe/The Dead Daisies, and has garnered praise from the likes of American Songwriter and Atwood Magazine. This year, Rory is touring nationally in support of his new EP, entitled “Songs From An Empty Room” which was produced by Hidden In Plain View guitarist/producer Rob Freeman (Gym Class Heroes, Armor For Sleep, Cobra Starship, Hit The Lights), mastered by Grammy-nominated mastering engineer Mike Kalajian (All Time Low, Circa Survive, Saosin, Straylight Run), and is available on all streaming platforms now. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

On today's episode, I'm extremely excited to be chatting with another Drive Thru Records Alum, Mr. Rob Freeman, guitarist, co-singer, and primary songwriter for the band Hidden In Plain View. My first memory of hearing Hidden in Plain View was with the Valencia guys on tour with them back in the early 2000's. I think I actually had a brief exchange with Rob back then about potentially playing some shows. Rob owns and works at Audio Pilot Studio and Production as a record producer, recording various up and coming artists. I was just looking at their website and the studio looks like a beautiful space to work in, so if you're needing some production, you can contact them directly on their site. Rob has produced albums for Hit The Lights, Armor for Sleep, Hidden in Plain View, Parade the Day, Thief Club, and many others. I really appreciate him for taking the time to chat with me today. Hidden in Plain View's record "Life in Dreaming" is one of my favorite records and one that I revisit often. We talk about that particular period of time in his life amongst other things involving production, and exercise for mental health. I think you'll enjoy it. Without further ado, please enjoy my wide ranging conversation with Mr. Rob Freeman.

However, in Acts 18 we learn when Paul got done preaching to them, they responded by believing and being baptized. What's that about? Heavenly Mother is prominently present in scripture. She plays all the roles we would expect a divine mother to play. While her presence has been obscured by the loss of plain and precious parts of original texts, her extensive involvement in the lives of her children is nevertheless still apparent if the scriptures are closely read with attention to symbols and surrogates. As the modern Zeitgeist impels us to look for the feminine divine in the scriptural canon, voices speaking from the dust—especially the Book of Mormon—providentially give us background information necessary to find our divine Mother hidden in plain view.

Teresa book  The Keeper of the Fire book covers not just Igbo Tribe's slavery but slavery in Africa by Arabs and Africans.   www.plantationquilts.com Many people questions the encoded quilts. They argue enslaved Africans  were not intelligent enough to out smart the Slavers. What many fail to understand, that most Africans were multi-langual. They wrote and read in more than on language. Many asked who could understand the coded quilt pattern language. Tonight's guest, Mrs. Kemp has  posters from Nigeria that date the symbols and patterns to 1400 AD this is clearly before the Civil War in America 1861-1865.
