My guest today is a Japanese video-game director, producer, and executive officer of Square-Enix. Born in 1966 in Fussa City in the suburbs of Tokyo, he studied filmmaking at Nihon University. After graduating, he was working at an animation studio when he first played Final Fantasy on the Famicom, and immediately saw the dramatic potential of the video game medium. Despite having no technical skills, he joined Square in 1990, to work as an “event planner”, involved in level design for Seiken Densetsu (Final Fantasy Adventure) for the Game Boy. Four years later he directed Final Fantasy VI, a game widely considered a classic. A protégée of the company's founder, Hironobu Sakaguchi, my guest subsequently worked on many of the company's best-loved titles, and now serves as Brand Manager for the Final Fantasy series. “My father would complain that he had no idea what was going on when I played RPGs at home after school,” he once told me. “This made me want to make games that those watching the screen beside the player might also find interesting.”  Be attitude for gains. https://plus.acast.com/s/my-perfect-console. Legend Of Mana é um RPG japonês que faz parte da franquia Seiken Densetsu, surgida de uma spin-off de Final Fantasy. A narrativa deste jogo consiste em o jogador vivenciar pequenas histórias que parecem contos, boa parte delas encerrando em si mesmas, mas havendo alguns arcos mais relevantes. A aventura em Legend Of Mana é construída pelo jogador, pois os locais são distribuídos pelo mapa, pois, segundo a trama, estão contidos em artefatos mágicos. Grande parte da beleza dessa experiência é o mundo, contanto com uma variedade personagens interessantes e de visuais únicos. Final Fantasy Adventure, known in Japan as Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden or simply Seiken Densetsu, and later released in Europe as Mystic Quest, is a Final Fantasy spinoff and the first game in the Mana series. Published by Square in 1991 on the Game Boy, it saw a North American re-release by Sunsoft in April 1998. Originally developed under the name Gemma Knights, it features gameplay roughly similar to that of the original The Legend of Zelda, but with the addition of role-playing statistical elements. Along with Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Final Fantasy Adventure was the first Final Fantasy game to be released in Europe. A remake, Sword of Mana, was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, changing the plot and many gameplay aspects. A second remake was released on mobile phones in Japan which improved the graphics and music of the original version. A third remake, Adventures of Mana, was released for iOS, Android, and PlayStation Vita on February 4, 2016.

Seiken Densetsu 3 spent more than two decades on lists of "great Japanese RPGs that never left Japan," until June 2019. It was added to the Retro Encounter schedule minutes after the announcement during E3 2019. A month after that fateful Nintendo Direct, four Retro Encounter panelists have played through the first half of SD3, rebranded Trials of Mana. Six heroes, eight spirits, and much more to discuss.

Sometimes you just get what you want, we finally got a remake of Seiken Densetsu 3, aka Trials of Mana. In the third episode of this years E3, we take a look at Ubisoft, Square Enix and Nintendo. All three have had the briefings with loads of games. All three showed of new games, Roller champions, Avengers, Oninaki, Luigi's mansion 3 and many more. Midgar in FFVII is only like 5-6 hours if you’re going slow and taking your time.  This game is 2 Blu Rays worth of game. They have to flesh it out. Sephiroth is here and talking to Cloud in Midgar, so there are definitely changes. FFVII isn’t actually that deep of a story.  It was for the time for a video game… but it’s really not overall. What if they never make part 2?  Or 3? Or however many parts it will be.  Most of the main characters aren’t even in Midgar.  Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aeris, and (barely) Red XIII. Secret of Mana erschien in Japan als Seiken Densetsu 2, weil es nämlich der Nachfolger von, naja, Seiken Densetsu 1 war, das man hierzulande auch als Mystic Quest und in den USA als Final Fantasy Adventure kennt - eigentlich war das eine Gameboy-Seitenlinie von Final-Fantasy-Reihe. Mit Secret of Mana gelang aber der Sprung auf das große SNES und der Durchbruch, der noch zu zwei weiteren Serienteilen führen sollte. Geistiger Vater ist Koichi Ishii, der ruhmreiche Erfinder des Chocobo. Das Gespräch führen Fabian Käufer und Christian Schmidt.
