Nick talks with Matt Carr from The Music Box Theatre in Chicago, about his movie-dominated childhood, his love of John Carpenter's "The Thing," and the upcoming screenings of the Vincent Price classic "House on Haunted Hill," which will be presented in terrifying "EMERGO!" The movie will reach beyond the screen, and into the audience's laps and faces, as horrifying ghosts and monsters haunt the Music Box auditorium! They also discuss the great William Castle, filmmaker/carnival barker and entertainer, who came up with incredibly entertaining gimmicks to keep movie audiences enthralled. Then Esmeralda Leon and Nick answer a Magic Megaphone Message about the movie "Top Gun," which leads to a mention of the satire "Hot Shots," which leads to a hilarious discussion of terrible parody movies like "Re-Possessed," "Meet The Spartans," "Vampires Suck," and many, many more. This week, we're going deeper into two of the writers of the original "Scary Movie": Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the worst writer/directors of the 21st century. In the vein of Meet The Spartans and Scary Movie, Vampires Suck is a spoof on a popular franchise that fails miserably to achieve anything on it's own. That being said, it might be better than the film it's based on. Enjoy!!

Stars of the indie movie, PHOENIX, OREGON phoenixoregonmovie.com JAMES LE GROS (BOBBY) Thanks in large part to the independent film movement of the late '80s, the boyishly handsome James LeGros went from being an underrated bit player to a well-respected character actor. A Minnesota native, LeGros found steady work when he migrated to Los Angeles after college in the early '80s, but his real break was being cast by Gus Van Sant as Matt Dillon’s drug-addicted cohort in DRUGSTORE COWBOY. Since then James Le Gros’ has established himself as a versatile actor with a diverse body of on-screen work, including numerous Independent Spirit Award-nominated films in which he has starred such as: Nicole Holofcener’s LOVELY AND AMAZING opposite Emily Mortimer, Todd Haynes’ SAFE opposite Julianne Moore, Alan Rudolph’s MRS. PARKER AND THE VICIOUS CIRCLE opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Stacy Cochran’s MY NEW GUN opposite Drew Barrymore. For his portrayal of the dim-witted, rising-A-list movie star “Chad Palomino,” opposite Steve Buscemi and Catherine Keener in Tom DiCillo’s LIVING IN OBLIVION, he was personally nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. Le Gros’s other film credits include David Fincher’s ZODIAC, Tony Scott’s ENEMY OF THE STATE, Oliver Stone’s BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY, Cameron Crowe’s SINGLES and Kathryn Bigelow’s POINT BREAK. His television credits include David E. Kelley’s Emmy Award-winning ALLY MCBEAL and Showtime’s Emmy-nominated SLEEPER CELL. He co-starred in HBO’s MILDRED PIERCE opposite Kate Winslet, and more recently recurred Jordan Peele’s HUNTERS, HBO’s GIRLS, FX’s JUSTIFIED, and Showtime’s BILLIONS. JESSE BORREGO (CARLOS) Raised in San Antonio, Texas by professional musician father and dancer mother, young Jesse Borrego would enter dance competitions with his sister, and belonged to an experimental theatre company while in college. He landed a recurring role on the hit television series FAME only a year after transferring to the California Institute of the Arts. Please be aware the stories, theories, re-enactments and language in this podcast are of an adult nature and can be disturbing, frightening and in some cases offensive. Listener Discretion is advised – there is very adult content ahead and you have been warned. Welcome heathens welcome to the world of the weird and unexplained. I’m your host, Nicole Delacroix and together, we will be exploring stories about the weird, wonderful, unexplained, eerie, scary and down-right unbelievable. There will be tales of ghosts, murder, supernatural beings and unexplained mysteries. So, sit back, grab your favorite drink, relax and prepare to be transported to today's dark Enigma.... And on today’s Dark enigma we’re going to be exploring the dark and seductive world of Vampires. Please note there are no sparkly teenage angst y vampires here, no, we’re looking at where the legends started from and how vampires are en grained in our collective memories. As always, we will be playing our drinking game but only for those of you that are at home and have nowhere else to go tonight. So we could easily go for the obvious, Bloody Mary shots, but live a little guys, there are some great drinks out there. This time, I’m not doing the work for you, so look up one of my favorite drinks a Vampire cocktail, OK I lied, there’s a link. But they are super delicious and extra creepy. So every time I say Sparkly is a single shot and every time I say Christianity, that’s a double shot. Now that we have the business end out of the way we can jump headfirst into today’s dark enigma… In every culture around the world we find signs and folklore pertaining to vampirism. As you know there is nothing like a good vampire story. So let’s jump into the first and in my opinion the best legend. The story of Lilith; this tale comes from a rabbinical fable called a Midrash. Lilith was the first wife of Adam. She was cast out of Eden because she refused to assume a subordinate sexual position. Lilith was transformed into a nocturnal monster that mated with animals, and sought out the children of Adam & Eve, killing them vengefully and consuming their flesh. There is several versions of this fable, which we may look into later when we examine the different species of vampires in other cultures.
Vampires, yay or nay? We say nay. Vampire Diaries is up for discussion this week, and along with it the vampire genre in general. Are vampires sexy? Why do we idealize them? We dive into these question and more! This is our last normal episode of the year! Next week we'll have a special Thanksgiving episode for you, and a special episode come Christmas! We're revamping for next season so PLEASE, send us your ideas and requests! Thanks for listening this season! @wehavethoughts3
In this first Halloween episode Beaveman discusses the lore of vampires while Doc drones on about religion.
Why are vampires so popular? Staci and Sarah don't know. What they do know, however, is that Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and What We Do in the Shadows are both vampire films that defied Staci's expectations...but does that make them good or bad? It's not your job to fix people. This has been on my mind a lot lately. Whether it be myself, close friends, family members or clients coming to me stressing about someone else. Someone else's life, someone else's decisions, someone else's circumstance. Empathy can be such a wonderful trait. However, as you know if you are an empath, it can be totally debilitating as well. Because we tend to attract a certain type of people. I call 'em energy vampires. They suck...literally. They suck all the energy and positivity out of you. If you can relate, I hope you'll enjoy today's solo episode.

Tonight's SPECIAL GUEST is Drew Carillio, survivor and actor. One of today's most passionate activists when it comes to the horrors, the shame and the preventative steps we can all take when it comes to sexual abuse, is aspiring actor and model, Drew Carrillo. Many know Carrillo for his role in the movie "Vampires Suck," in which he played the part of a cast member of "Jersey Shore." He also has been featured in many popular television advertisements, the most recent being the "NERF or Nothing" toy campaign. In an interview with San Diego Gay & Lesbian News, Drew who is now openly gay, tells his "backstory" .. that he was raped at the age of 16 while a dedicated member of a prominent movement called Teen Mania Ministries. Coming to terms with one's sexuality can be very dramatic and tough due to gender societal parameters. To make matters worse for Drew and other young followers like him, Teen Mania Ministries spends millions of dollars on educational materials telling members of the church that homosexual men are in fact, often that way because they were raped. Drew was featured on the Dr Phil Show in 2005.

Summer ends, not with a bang but with a whimper. But we're making sure we give the season a big send-off on the next FILM GEEK CENTRAL!First off, we look at the new horror film THE LAST EXORCISM. This is a supernatural spookshow spectacular that blends old school horror with the more modern storytelling techniques of films like Paranormal Activity. Eli Roth produced (but did not direct) this one. We're also one of the only shows brave/stupid enough to review VAMPIRES SUCK. This is a spoof of the Twilight movies from the same guys who gave us the criminally unfunny Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie. Why do they get the money to do these films? Because people go see them. Will this be a change of pace or will we rip it a new one?NANNY MCPHEE RETURNS, whether we want her to or not. Emma Thompson's pet character returns in this family fantasy that had a successful release overseas months ago.CENTURION has us excited, since it's from Neil Marshall. We've dug just about everything this guy has done so far (The Descent, Doomsday, etc.) so the idea of him handling an R-rated mideval adventure tickles us.We'll cover all of this plus film news and our DVD Picks of the Week! We'll cover all of this, plus film news and our DVD Picks of the Week!Hope to see you there, film geeks!

It’s our 21st episode, so that means we can finally drink during the show! There are five films in wide release and Bayer and Snider didn’t have time to see them all. ‘Piranha 3D’ is going to cost you, but it’s pretty good campy fun if you’re in the mood for blood and boobs. ‘The Switch’ is not as awful as it sounds, thanks mainly to Jason Bateman. Snider saw ‘Vampires Suck’ and believes they stole a joke from his illustrious catalogue. ‘Nanny McPhee Returns’ and ‘Lottery Ticket’ were not watched. Deal with it. Interquel makes a comeback with ‘Hoosiers’ and ‘Fight Club.’ And the boys answer the QOTW and give you a new one … “What is your scariest movie scene?” The movie itself doesn’t have to be scary, just the moment.
