Specifically, she learned to focus on small wins in her day-to-day training and racing, not solely focus on times or results. The 2x Brazilian Olympian discusses the NCAA season, her Olympic experience, and what it means to be "Elite".

On the Saturday December 2, 2023 edition of the Richard Crouse Show we meet Olympic gymnast, Cirque du Soleil acrobat, entertainment executive and now author, Mary Sanders. Mary inherited an Olympic dream by her father, a Big Ten Champion from the University of Michigan. But that achievement was only the beginning for a woman determined to reinvent herself and consistently raise her own standards for success. In her memoir “9 Lives By 35,” now available wherever fine books are sold, Mary recounts her journey from Olympian to Cirque du Soleil acrobat to entertainment executive while balancing life at home with two children. It's a story of dedication and personal sacrifice that led to success and reinvention. Then we'll meet American comedian, radio host, writer, musician, actor and author Dave Hill. He is also part-Canadian, as he explained in his previous book, Parking The Moose. He'll explain more about that in this interview. Today we're here to talk about his latest book, “The Awesome Game: One Man's Incredible Globe-Crushing Hockey Odyssey.” At the heart of the book is a simple question, Why is hockey so incredibly awesome?

A proud Alum of Michigan State University, Anthony Ianni, is one of the most sought after motivational speakers in the country. At the age of 4 Anthony was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), which is on the Autism Spectrum (ASD). Doctors and specialists told Anthony's parents that he would barely graduate from high school, would never graduate from college, would never have a shot at being an athlete and would likely live in a group institution with other Autistic kids for his adult life. His family was devastated but pledged they would help Anthony be successful no matter what. Anthony graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in sociology in 2012 and was a winner of various awards during his time as a basketball player. He was a two-time Big Ten Champion, a Big Ten Tournament Champion, and a member of the 2010 Final Four team. He won the 2011 Tim Bograkos Walk On award and the 2012 Unsung Player award. During his senior season at Michigan State University, like any other student, Anthony was at a crossroads, unsure of what he wanted to do with his life after college. It was then that Michigan's former Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley gave him an opportunity that made him realize his story had the power to inspire others. Before his final basketball season had ended, Mr. Calley asked Anthony if he was interested in giving the keynote address at an autism gala in Detroit hosted by the Autism Alliance of Michigan. He delivered a ten-minute speech and received a great reaction and ovation from the crowd. Driving home, he looked at his wife Kelly and said, “I think I found my life's calling. Other than Temple Grandin, what voice does the autism community have to look to for hope and inspiration?” He knew then that he wanted to be the person whose voice the autism community and others could look to and be inspired by. Two months after that speech, the Autism Alliance of Michigan hired Anthony to do motivational speaking engagements for the organization. At that time, he was also appointed to the Governor's Autism Council—a seat he holds to this day. In the fall of 2012, Anthony heard a CNN report about how individuals with autism are the number-one targets for bullies in schools across the country. His own experience with bullies and this startling statistic led him to expand his presentations to include both a motivational and an anti-bullying message. Soon after, Anthony launched his own anti-bullying initiative called The Relentless Tour, sharing his life stories of being bullied because of his autism and height and all the ways he was different to show kids who have been the target of bullies that they're not alone, and to encourage them to go out and not only be the change, but to make that change in life as well. As a speaker, Anthony has won a number of awards for his work. In 2013, he was a finalist for the Detroit Pistons Game Changer award and won the 2014 Epling Agent of Change Award. He was one of Autism Speaks' “10 Individuals who Inspired in 2014,” and named to the CBS News national list of “Inspiring People on the Autism Spectrum.” He also received the 2015 BOOM Athlete of the Year Award and the 2016 Autism Support of West Shore “You Make a Difference” Award. In his five-year speaking career, Anthony has built relationships with political and civic leaders throughout the state and school administrators from around the country, as well national autism advocates, sports figures, and a long list of media professionals. These relationships have helped Anthony build a large and loyal following and have taken his career and his life story to heights he never could have anticipated. Anthony, you are a great man! Thank you for shinning your light bright so that the rest of us can see that when we are willing to do hard things doors open and Miracles Happen. Check out Anythony's new book, 'Centered' where he shares his experiences with Basketball, Autism, and Bullying. https://www.amazon.com/Centered-Autism-Basketball-Athletes-Dreams/dp/1684351537

ESPN's Heather Dinich joined the guys on the Justin Kinner Show to discuss the latest on the Big Ten's ruling to remove the minimum game requirement for the Buckeye's eligibility for the Big Ten Title game. Heather also helped the guys break down some of the craziest College Football Playoff scenarios as we head into the final weeks.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – We are all still reeling from the news that “The Game” has been called off for this year and the Buckeyes are still looking for a dance partner for this weekend. There is a lot of significance when it comes to getting to six games for Ohio State, or any team in the Big Ten for that matter. According to rules that are currently in place, there is no opportunity to be in the Big Ten Championship Game without having competed in at least six games, based on rolling averages of games played and things of that nature. That rule, like most things, could be subject to change but as of now, is still in place. We don't know who else may not be able to go in the Big Ten and if the Buckeyes will be able to find someone to play against this upcoming weekend to get to Indy to try and defend its crown as Big Ten Champion. But it does bring up an interesting thought if the Buckeyes were able to go out of the league and find a non-conference opponent. A game last weekend between BYU and Coastal Carolina came together at the 11th hour and provided one of the more entertaining games of the season. Texas A&M saw its game canceled against Ole Miss this week as the Mississippi program was dealing with its own COVID issues and now the Aggies would like to find someone to play as they sit outside of the top-four in the College Football Playoff rankings, strangely enough, just behind the Buckeyes who are No. 4 in those rankings. We want to preface this whole discussion by saying that we are well aware that the league shot down Nebraska earlier this year when the Huskers' game against Wisconsin was canceled and while the Huskers found an opponent, the league said that was not an option. But what if this game was green-lit and allowed to happen?

Jody Strittmatter was one of Pennsylvania’s most highly coveted wrestlers coming out of Cambria Heights High School in 1996. When Mountain Cat wrestling Coach Pat Pecora out-recruited some of the most powerful NCAA Division I schools in the country and got Mr. Strittmatter to become a Mountain Cat, it turned out that the final piece of the 1999 National Championship wrestling team puzzle was in place. After red-shirting as a true freshman in 1996-97, Mr. Strittmatter burst onto the Division II wrestling scene and compiled a 44-2 overall record and an 18-1 dual meet record on his way to winning an East Region title and a National Championship at 118 lbs. in his first year of collegiate wrestling His 24 pins broke Carlton Haselrig’s previous school-record of 19 set in 1986-87, while his 37 regular season victories and his 44 total victories both broke school records in his weight class and still stand today. In most cases, that would be a season tough to top. However, 1998-99 would be even better. Mr. Strittmatter, who moved to 125 lbs., posted an impressive 43-1 overall record and a perfect 23-0 dual meet record. He won championships at the West Virginia University Open in November and the prestigious and Division I-dominated Midlands Open at Northwestern University in December. Just over two months later, Mr. Strittmatter won another regional title and was named the National Tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler after winning his second straight National Championship. In the process, Pitt-Johnstown claimed its second NCAA Division II National Championship in three years by holding off the University of Nebraska-Omaha in its home gym. In two seasons at Pitt-Johnstown, Mr. Strittmatter had an 87-3 record. His .967 winning percentage is second only behind Carlton Haselrig. Mr. Strittmatter also proved he was a true student-athlete by earning First-Team National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Academic Team honors in both 1998 and 1999 as a Biology/Pre-Medicine major. Following the 1999 season, Mr. Strittmatter took his talents to Division I national power University of Iowa and became a two-time Big-Ten Champion and a two-time All-American with a third-place finish in 2000 and a national runner-up finish in 2001. He also earned his second team national championship when the Hawkeyes won the Division I title in 2000. Mr. Strittmatter was inducted into the Cambria County Sports Hall of Fame in 2006, the District 6 Hall of Fame in 2007, and the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2010. Mr. Strittmatter, a native of Ebensburg, Pa., will marry Stephanie Blackstone this August. He, along with former Iowa teammate Eric Juergens, co-founded Young Guns Wrestling Club in 2002. Mr. Strittmatter currently runs Young Guns practices in Pennsylvania with the help of his brothers, John and Joey. Young Guns has grown to become one of Pennyslvania’s premier wrestling clubs and has gained recognition nationally.
