Apply now for a chance to receive one of 10 free tickets to SuperCrowdLA on May 2nd and 3rd and gain the tools to rebuild and grow! For years, crowdfunding advocates have championed the idea that everyday investors should have access to the same wealth-building opportunities as venture capitalists. Despite regulatory progress, investment crowdfunding has yet to reach its full potential. A newly proposed tax credit aims to change that, incentivizing millions more to participate in funding small businesses while boosting local economies.Brian Christie, co-chair of the Crowdfunding Professional Association (CfPA), and Levi Brackman, CEO of Invown, joined me on Superpowers for Good to discuss this groundbreaking proposal. The initiative, led by a broad coalition of industry players, seeks to provide a tax credit for investors who fund businesses under Regulation Crowdfunding (Reg CF)."The way this tax credit works is that you get half of the dollars that you've invested as a credit—up to a $1,000 cap," Brian explained. "So if you invest $2,000 in one or multiple companies in a given year, you get a $1,000 tax credit when you file your taxes."The potential impact is staggering. Although crowdfunding has already enabled millions of Americans to invest in startups and small businesses, the vast majority of the population remains unaware of the opportunity. Brian sees this tax credit as a pivotal mechanism for awareness and engagement. "If all of a sudden it shows up on your annual tax filings, a lot of people will learn about it very quickly."Levi, an outspoken supporter of the initiative, believes it could dramatically shift the financial landscape for small businesses. "Capital formation is really difficult," he noted. "In the old days, you had a local bank manager who knew you and could vouch for you. That's gone. Crowdfunding fills that gap, but we've barely scratched the surface. This tax credit could help scale it massively."Levi envisions a future where tens of millions of Americans actively invest in small businesses. "Imagine if 50 million people each invested just $500 a year. The amount of capital flowing into the economy would be enormous, creating jobs and strengthening communities."Keep reading below. Learn more at ccajp.us.tl;dr:* A new tax credit proposal could dramatically boost Regulation Crowdfunding by incentivizing millions of investors.* Brian Christie explains how the tax credit offers a 50% refund on investments up to $2,000 annually.* Levi Brackman highlights crowdfunding's potential to fill small business funding gaps in a post-local bank era.* The initiative could channel billions into small businesses, creating jobs and strengthening communities nationwide.* Advocates urge action by joining the coalition, contacting legislators, and spreading awareness to drive policy change.Beyond sheer economic growth, the proposal aligns with how the government has historically incentivized positive behaviors. "The U.S. incentivizes things like home ownership, charitable giving, and child-rearing through the tax code," Levi pointed out. "Why shouldn't investing in small businesses—arguably the backbone of the economy—be encouraged the same way?"Opponents of tax credits often raise concerns about costs or who benefits most, but Brian argues that this particular incentive pays for itself. "Our preliminary analysis, along with industry data, suggests that every dollar invested in small businesses has a sixfold ripple effect in the economy. Over ten years, the net impact on the Treasury could be an $80 billion surplus."The coalition behind this initiative isn't limited to crowdfunding platforms like Invown, StartEngine, Republic, and Small Change. It also includes investors, accountants, attorneys, and small business owners who recognize the broader benefits of democratized capital access. For those eager to support the effort, joining the coalition is free and simple. Brian emphasized that beyond signing up, individuals can make an impact by calling their legislators, sharing the initiative on social media, and writing letters to the editor. "We even provide templates to make outreach easier," he said.Levi added that persistence is key. "I've been cold-calling congressional offices, and it's amazing how quickly you can reach someone influential just by making the effort. If this matters to you, just pick up the phone and start the conversation."The proposal is strategically timed, given that key tax policies from the 2017 tax bill are set to expire. Advocates hope to see the crowdfunding tax credit included in the next major tax package or passed as a standalone bill. For those ready to take action, the coalition's website, ccajp.us/join, offers resources to get involved. This is a grassroots movement, and every voice counts. If successful, this initiative could change the game for small business investing, making crowdfunding more accessible, impactful, and widespread than ever before. As the founder and CEO of CoPeace Capital, he's on a mission to use investing as a force for good, ensuring that more people—especially those historically excluded from wealth-building opportunities—can participate in equity investing.“Many communities have not had the access to growing their wealth through equity investing,” Craig explained. “And the crowdfunding platforms allow that to happen.”CoPeace, a Certified B Corporation and Public Benefit Corporation, has been actively raising capital from the crowd, successfully leveraging Regulation Crowdfunding to fuel its impact-driven investments. By embracing this approach, CoPeace is not only funding its own growth but also identifying promising companies that align with its mission. The company has already invested in businesses focused on sustainable infrastructure and social impact, proving that financial returns and positive change can coexist.Craig emphasized that success in impact crowdfunding isn't automatic—it requires effort, strategy, and community engagement. “The number one learning is that it's not magic. It takes work to develop the crowd that might want to invest in what you're doing.”A common misconception about impact investing is that it requires sacrificing returns. Craig challenges that notion, pointing out that market-based returns are not only possible but often stronger when companies prioritize sustainability and long-term value creation. “Not only are we seeing kind of market-based returns, but the data is showing that it is a good business decision to care about the future of our world,” he said. With plans to launch a larger fund, CoPeace Capital is expanding its ability to invest in high-impact businesses while continuing to make equity investing more accessible. Craig's leadership in this space demonstrates that with the right approach, anyone can leverage capital to drive meaningful change. For those looking to align their investments with their values, CoPeace offers a compelling example of how financial success and social impact can go hand in hand.tl;dr:* Craig Jonas, CEO of CoPeace Capital, discusses using impact investing to democratize access to wealth-building opportunities.* He shares insights from CoPeace's successful Regulation Crowdfunding campaign and how it supports mission-aligned businesses.* Craig challenges the misconception that impact investing requires sacrificing financial returns, highlighting data that supports market-based gains.* He explains his superpower, empathic awareness, and how it shapes his leadership and investment strategies.* Craig offers practical advice for developing empathic awareness, emphasizing active listening, reflection, and immersing oneself in diverse environments. How to Develop Empathic Awareness As a SuperpowerCraig's superpower is empathic awareness—the ability to perceive and deeply understand the emotions and perspectives of others.Craig describes this skill as an essential part of navigating the impact investing space. "I think my superpower is empathic awareness and the ability to kind of perceive what others are thinking," he shared. By listening intently to stakeholders, investors, and the communities CoPeace serves, Craig ensures that their needs and concerns shape the company's mission and strategy. One powerful example of Craig's empathic awareness took place during his time as a basketball coach in post-apartheid South Africa. Selected as the first American coach to work in the townships, he recalls sensing the fear and hesitation in the eyes of young players as he entered their community. By being present, acknowledging their lived experiences, and creating a space of mutual trust, he fostered a meaningful connection that made the basketball clinic not only a success but also a transformational moment for everyone involved.Craig believes that developing empathic awareness requires intentional effort. His tips include:* Pause and Reflect: Before reacting, take an extra moment to consider the perspectives of others.* Engage in New Environments: Step outside your comfort zone by immersing yourself in different cultures and communities.* Observe Role Models: Identify and learn from individuals who demonstrate deep empathy in their interactions.* Listen Actively: Focus on understanding rather than responding—allow people to share their experiences fully.By following Craig's example and advice, you can make empathic awareness a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. I have a background in music–classically trained in violin and viola–and that informs the way I go about some of the more technical things I do. It opens me up to endless possibilities.Sustainable living shouldn't be a luxury—it should be the standard. That's the driving philosophy behind Corey Johnson's innovative real estate development project, NEIGHBR. Corey, the founder and CEO of NEIGHBR, is pioneering a bold new approach to housing that integrates sustainability, affordability, and a resort-style community experience."We like to build spaces that positively impact our community and really serve as a prototype for the future of sustainable living," Corey told me in this episode. His development firm isn't just creating housing—it's showcasing what's possible when cutting-edge technology, biophilic design, and eco-conscious infrastructure come together. At the heart of NEIGHBR's vision is an eco-village concept that fuses sustainability with affordability. The project features tiny homes, geodomes, on-site farming, and commercial spaces, all built with renewable energy sources and water conservation systems. “We're using solar, geothermal, rainwater harvesting, on-site composting, and a farmhouse that fosters a circular economy,” Corey explained. What makes NEIGHBR truly unique is its reimagining of financial accessibility in housing. By leveraging investment crowdfunding, Corey is inviting everyday people to be part of the journey from the very beginning. “What I love about this approach is that it allows people to feel like they've been along for the journey,” he said. “I like to believe that those early investors will really be some of our earliest residents.”NEIGHBR is currently raising capital through Funding Hope, an investment platform aligned with the United Nations' sustainable development goals. For Corey, choosing Funding Hope was intentional: “We're after positively impacting the climate. We're about making people better. And Funding Hope shares that mission.”The first NEIGHBR eco-village will take root in Atlanta, Georgia, with plans for rapid expansion nationwide. With a vision to scale sustainable communities across the country, Corey and his team are laying the foundation for a new model of housing—one that isn't just environmentally responsible but also socially transformative. To learn more about NEIGHBR and explore investment opportunities, visit s4g.biz/neighbr.tl;dr:* Corey Johnson's NEIGHBR project is reimagining sustainable housing with eco-friendly, affordable, and community-focused designs.* NEIGHBR integrates renewable energy, biophilic architecture, and financial accessibility to create resort-style eco-villages.* Corey leverages investment crowdfunding through Funding Hope, inviting the public to participate in the project's growth.* Corey's superpower, "artistic engineering," blends technical precision with creative vision to build transformative spaces.* Through innovation and community engagement, NEIGHBR aims to scale sustainable living across the nation, redefining housing for future generations. How to Develop Artistic Engineering As a SuperpowerCorey describes his superpower as "artistic engineering." Rooted in both his background in civil engineering and his classical training in violin and viola, Corey fuses technical precision with creative vision. "I almost feel like I'm Dr. Strange, who can just grab all types of different ideas and actually pull them into reality," he explained. By balancing analytical problem-solving with artistic expression, Corey designs spaces that are not only functional but also deeply engaging and transformative.Corey exemplified his superpower when designing and building a wellness facility in Atlanta. While ensuring the structure met technical and regulatory standards, he infused the space with biophilic elements, including a koi pond, to foster a sense of tranquility. "We can solve real-world problems, but if something doesn't feel good to the human soul when they interact with it, that can be a challenge," he said. His ability to merge aesthetics with engineering created a space that left visitors in awe, proving that artistic engineering can elevate both form and function.Tips for Developing Artistic Engineering:* Embrace Both Logic and Creativity: Don't limit yourself to one way of thinking—tap into both analytical and imaginative processes.* Immerse Yourself in Music: Corey believes listening to classical compositions enhances problem-solving and fosters a deeper understanding of complexity.* Stay Open to Possibilities: Approach challenges with a mindset that solutions can come from unexpected places.* Prioritize Humanity in Design: Consider the emotional and sensory experience of the spaces and products you create.* Observe Nature's Balance: Nature seamlessly integrates structure and beauty—use it as inspiration for your own projects.By following Corey Johnson's example and advice, you can make artistic engineering a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. Yet, despite the availability of treatments, many individuals hesitate to seek help due to stigma, cost, or lack of accessibility. Raj Amin, CEO and Co-Founder of Arcade Therapeutics, is tackling this problem by harnessing the power of gaming to provide evidence-based anxiety relief."One of the biggest challenges to engaging people is really the format of that engagement," Raj explained. "It's a big obstacle to get people into therapy. A lot of people haven't tried therapy. There's a lot of stigma associated with it. So we've got to figure out ways to give them an on-ramp to begin self-care. And that's really where gaming comes in."Arcade Therapeutics has developed a mobile game that integrates a psychological technique proven to reduce anxiety symptoms. Rather than requiring users to commit to therapy or medication right away, this game offers a more accessible and engaging way to start managing anxiety. "Two-thirds of Americans play games," Raj noted. "What if you could actually embed a psychological technique into the game that is proven to reduce anxiety symptoms? That's what we've done at Arcade."The company's business model relies on scientific validation, with research-backed methods that have undergone clinical trials funded in part by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This has positioned Arcade Therapeutics to be recognized as a digital therapeutic—a form of software-as-medicine. As a result, its products can be prescribed by doctors and reimbursed by insurance providers. With the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rolling out new billing codes for digital mental health treatments starting in 2025, the company is poised for rapid growth.Arcade Therapeutics is currently raising capital through a regulated investment crowdfunding campaign on WeFunder, allowing everyday investors to support this innovative approach to mental health care. "We need to democratize the way that early-stage companies get built," Raj said. "Crowdfunding allows us to set the stage for a future where companies can be supported by the people who believe in them, including therapists and doctors who see the value in what we're building."Investors and mental health advocates interested in learning more can visit s4g.biz/AT to support Arcade Therapeutics' mission. By blending science with gaming, Raj and his team are making mental health support more engaging, accessible, and effective.tl;dr:* Raj Amin, CEO of Arcade Therapeutics, explains how gaming can be leveraged to treat anxiety.* Arcade Therapeutics' mobile game integrates a psychological technique clinically proven to reduce anxiety.* The company's business model relies on digital therapeutics, enabling insurance reimbursement for mental health treatments.* Raj discusses his superpower, creative problem-solving, and how it has shaped his career.* He shares actionable tips on fostering creativity, including context-switching and learning from diverse fields. How to Develop Creative Problem Solving As a SuperpowerRaj Amin's superpower is creative problem-solving. Throughout his career, Raj has applied his ability to connect different ideas and industries to create impactful solutions. "I would say that I have a creative side in how I think about new businesses," he shared in today's episode. "And I think I've applied that to the problems that I see in the world that I feel need solving."An illustrative example of Raj's superpower is his work with Arcade Therapeutics. Recognizing the stigma and barriers to mental health treatment, he saw an opportunity to use gaming—something millions of people engage with daily—as a platform for delivering anxiety-reducing therapies. "Gaming is something that people are already doing and it's engaging, but we can now apply that in a way that helps bring down stigma and improve access to earlier treatments for mental health," he explained. To develop creative problem-solving as a personal strength, Raj suggests:* Engage in context switching – "I might grab a guitar, play a song for 10 minutes, and then shift to a business challenge. The intersections between different activities often lead to new ideas."* Expose yourself to diverse fields – "Dive into new subjects. For instance, I explored AI and then thought about how it could be applied to mental health."* Solve problems you personally experience – "I created a mini AI-driven coach for myself to see how technology could be leveraged for mental wellness."By following Raj Amin's example and advice, you can make creative problem-solving a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. Marcia Dawood, an experienced investor and advocate for small business capital formation, is on a mission to change that perception. In today's episode, she shared how equity crowdfunding has made it possible for anyone to invest in startups and drive meaningful change.Marcia has been an angel investor for over a decade and served as chair of the Angel Capital Association. She now sits on the Securities and Exchange Commission's Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee, working to ensure small businesses have a voice in regulatory decisions.During our conversation, she reflected on the transformative power of equity crowdfunding. "Back in 2016, when the SEC changed the rules, it became possible for anyone to invest in startups for as little as $50," she said. "But not enough people know about it. The potential for impact is enormous."Marcia's journey into angel investing began with a simple invitation to an investor meeting. At first, she assumed it was a world reserved for the rich and well-connected. But as she listened to entrepreneurs share their visions for changing the world, she realized she could be part of it. “I thought, ‘Where have I been?' I had no idea this was happening,” she recalled. “I started to see how powerful investing could be as a force for good.”Today, Marcia is committed to making investing more inclusive. She highlights that platforms like Republic, WeFunder, and StartEngine have made startup investing transparent and accessible. "Everything is disclosed on the platform—CEOs can't have side conversations with select investors. That levels the playing field," she explained. One of her biggest concerns is the lack of funding for women-led startups. "Women make up about half the population, but they receive just two to three percent of venture funding. That has to change," she emphasized. By encouraging more people—especially women—to invest, Marcia believes equity crowdfunding can reshape the entrepreneurial landscape. For those hesitant to take the leap into impact investing, her advice is simple: start by observing. "Take your time, look around, and learn. See which companies align with your values. Then, when you're ready, take that first step."Marcia's message is clear: investing isn't just about financial returns—it's about fueling innovation and creating a better world. By lowering barriers to entry, equity crowdfunding is opening the doors for everyone to be part of that change.tl;dr:* Marcia Dawood discusses how equity crowdfunding is expanding access to capital for underrepresented founders and everyday investors.* She shares her journey into angel investing and how it has become a powerful tool for impact.* Marcia highlights the importance of transparency and accessibility in platforms like Republic, WeFunder, and StartEngine.* She explains the need for more investment in women-led startups and the potential for crowdfunding to bridge the gap.* Marcia identifies decisiveness and resourcefulness as her superpowers, offering actionable tips for making better decisions and solving problems efficiently. How to Develop Decisiveness and Resourcefulness As a SuperpowerMarcia Dawood has honed two superpowers that have propelled her success: decisiveness and resourcefulness. "I've had people tell me that if they were in a crisis, they'd want to stand next to me," she said in today's episode. Whether in angel investing, business, or personal life, she has built a reputation for making quick, confident decisions and creatively solving problems. One of the most powerful examples of her decisiveness came during the pandemic. She shared the story of JoyLux, a startup whose CEO immediately pivoted when faced with financial uncertainty. Instead of waiting for conditions to improve, the company quickly adjusted its strategy, engaged investors, and ensured financial stability. "That kind of decisiveness can be the difference between survival and failure," Marcia explained. For those looking to develop decisiveness, Marcia offers practical advice:* Identify the Core Decision – Clarify what needs to be decided and focus on key factors.* Seek Input, but Don't Overanalyze – Consult trusted sources, but avoid analysis paralysis.* Take Ownership – Make a choice and commit to it, rather than second-guessing.* Learn from Decisions – Reflect on past choices to improve future decision-making.* Act with Confidence – Recognize that no decision is perfect, but moving forward is better than inaction.By following Marcia's example and advice, you can make decisiveness and resourcefulness a skill. With practice and effort, you could make them a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. There are different parts to the recipe because I think it's one part fearlessness—I don't know if it's fearlessness or stupidity—and one part persistence and sprinklings of resilience and sensitivity and compassion. We live in an era of unprecedented digital connection, yet loneliness and isolation continue to rise. Darren Mark, Founder and CEO of hūmNET, has set out to change that. His innovative platform is designed to foster real, meaningful connections through shared moments of focus and empathy. Rather than scrolling endlessly through divisive social media feeds, hūmNET users can create and participate in "hums"—synchronized moments of contemplation, prayer, or reflection—with others across the globe.Darren describes hūmNET as "the worldwide web of empathy," an alternative to traditional social media platforms that often prioritize engagement over well-being. "We've all got these devices in our pockets that promise connection," Darren said. "And yet, with the loneliness epidemic and isolation, we feel less connected than ever. hūmNET is really looking to solve the problem of how we help people feel connected more deeply."At the heart of hūmNET is a simple but powerful experience. Users can create a hum—a designated time when they and others focus their thoughts on a common theme. Participants see glowing beacons on a map, visualizing who is joining them in that moment. A gentle vibration increases as more people join, reinforcing the sense of collective presence."Imagine my daughter, standing outside in the cold during a climate protest, wondering if anyone else cares. Now, she can open hūmNET and see that 87,000 others are thinking about climate change with her," Darren explained. "That's super empowering."hūmNET is raising capital through regulation crowdfunding on Funding Hope, a platform aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This strategic choice reflects the company's mission-driven approach, allowing its users to participate not just in the platform but in its growth and success. "There's something so organically intrinsic about what hūmNET is and raising money from the crowd," Darren noted. "It aligns perfectly with our mission."In a world craving genuine connection, hūmNET offers a hopeful vision for the future—one where technology enhances empathy rather than eroding it. Darren's passion for building a more connected, compassionate world is evident, and with the support of a like-minded community, hūmNET has the potential to transform the way we engage with one another online.tl;dr:* hūmNET, founded by Darren Mark, is an innovative platform designed to foster real, meaningful connections through shared moments of focus and empathy.* Darren shared how his past experiences in tech, marketing, and empathy-building shaped hūmNET's unique approach to digital connection.* The company is raising capital via regulation crowdfunding on Funding Hope to align with its mission-driven approach.* Darren discussed his superpower of fearless initiative, highlighting bold actions that have led to pivotal opportunities.* The episode concluded with practical advice on cultivating courage, persistence, and human connection to drive positive change. How to Develop Audacity to Act As a SuperpowerDarren describes his superpower as a combination of fearlessness, persistence, resilience, sensitivity, and compassion. At its core, however, his defining strength is courage—the audacity to take bold actions others might hesitate to attempt."I don't know if it's fearlessness or stupidity, but I've always just rolled up my sleeves and figured things out," Darren shared. His approach to challenges involves diving in headfirst, fueled by a belief in his mission and an unshakable determination to make an impact. One story exemplifies this superpower: While running a Kickstarter campaign for a previous startup, Darren realized he wasn't gaining enough traction. Determined to change that, he took a leap of faith—literally. Spotting billionaire investor Mark Cuban on the streets of Brooklyn Heights, Darren seized the moment. He grabbed his product, ran up to Cuban, and attempted to engage him. While Cuban didn't personally respond, Darren's effort wasn't wasted. His flyer landed in the hands of Cuban's limo driver, which eventually led to an invitation to pitch on Shark Tank.Darren's experience provides key lessons for developing fearlessness as a personal strength:* Act Quickly on Opportunities – When an opportunity presents itself, hesitation can mean missing out. Darren's success often stems from his willingness to seize the moment.* Embrace Rejection as a Stepping Stone – Facing rejection is part of the process. Darren has learned that persistence often turns initial failures into eventual victories.* Believe in Your Mission – Conviction in one's purpose fuels the courage to take risks, even when the outcome is uncertain.* Be Willing to Learn and Adapt – Every experience, whether successful or not, provides valuable insights that can be applied in the future.* Leverage Human Connection – People appreciate sincerity and determination. Approaching others with respect and authenticity makes bold actions more likely to succeed.By following Darren's example and advice, you can make fearlessness a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. By Mike Phelps in Petaluma, CA, San Francisco Bay Area, CA - February 10, 2024 - Speaker: Mike Phelps Date: 2/10/24 With the origins of Valentine's Day well understood and with the popularity of the holiday, a question often arises: should a Christian celebrate Valentine's Day? As God created love and is love, God clearly desires that we love one another. But is the holiday's focus one we should encourage? What should the Christian's view be towards syncretism? After bringing His people out of Egypt, God knew they would come into a new land with other nations around them who also had their own gods. So, the eternal God gave specific instructions on what His holy people were to do. Is this instruction relevant to how a Christian should approach Valentine's Day? Please Note: Additional messages given in the SF Bay Area congregation may be searched by date, presenter name &/or title at https://www.ucg.org/sermons/all?group=San%20Francisco%20Bay%20Area,%20CA

By Mario Seiglie in Orange County, CA - February 3, 2024 - With the creation of the Universe, God provided a place for man to exist, to live and to grow on the unique planet called Earth. During our lifetime, we may go through trials, illnesses, or hardships, but God will provide comfort, healings, or resolutions to these especially when we ask Him for His help. God wants us to do our part and trust Him when problems arise.
By Robin Webber in Las Vegas, NV, Redlands, CA, San Diego, CA - February 3, 2024 - There is only one miracle performed by Christ that is mentioned in all 4 gospels. Do you know which one and the multiple teaching moments that stem from it that can empower your life (today) as disciples of the Master? This is the miracle that keeps on giving in multiple ways down to our day. This message is offered to encourage us that "God will provide" in His time and way and request us to partner with Him in what we can do and then stand still, behold, and see what only He can do!
C.V.'s 10 to Check Out PodcastCurtis and Aaron Vaughn came up with the idea for this podcast. The concept for this podcast is to give information and opinions about ten songs each month that may fly under the radar for most listeners of music. Also, we will play a snippet of each song and ask the listener to comment to us through one of our social media outlets so we can get different opinions on what you think about these songs and what they mean to you. The opinions of the music selected are only the opinions of Aaron and Curtis and may not reflect what the artist had in mind. They believe that is the beauty of music. It can mean so many different things to so many different people. In short, Curtis came up with this quote to describe the show: “Sharing the joy of music in hopes of bringing back old memories or helping listeners discover unfamiliar artists, bands, or songs that they might want to look further into. At the same time, helping out Veterans and their families with donations along the way."Songs for this month are:1. Teach Your Children (Live) - Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young2. Silent Lucidity - Queensryche3. Footstompin' Music (Live) - Grand Funk Railroad4. A Boy Named Sue (Live at San Quentin State Prison, San Quentin, CA - February 1969) - Johnny Cash5. We are to in turn become His vessels of extending personal reconciliation with others. Why does Jesus say in the "Lord's Prayer" if we have not forgiven others neither are we forgiven? Initiative Establishes New Industry Record For Speed, Power and TCO Efficiency For TLS-Encrypted Traffic, Paving Way For Next-Gen Live Streaming Los . Initiative Establishes New Industry Record For Speed, Power and TCO Efficiency For TLS-Encrypted Traffic, Paving Way For Next-Gen Live Streaming Los Angeles, CA – February 22, 2023 – Varnish Software, a leader in web caching, video streaming and content delivery software solutions, in collaboration with Intel and Supermicro today announced new, record-setting content delivery performance milestones, having achieved greater than 1.3 Tbps throughput on a single Edge server consuming approximately 1,120 watts, resulting in 1.17 Gbps per Watt. The combined solution makes it possible for content delivery services and the live event industry to support massive live streaming events in an economical and sustainable way. “Achieving over 1 Tbps in a single Edge server is a major leap forward for the industry, and critical for delivering the next generation of video and digital experiences,” said Frank Miller CTO, Varnish Software. “The need to deliver more throughput with less energy and at the lowest cost is growing exponentially. With commercially available software and off-the-shelf server hardware from Supermicro – built on 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors – we have entered a new era of CDN cache performance. Varnish Software's unique architecture, features and capabilities were essential in reaching the new benchmarks, which include asynchronous direct I/O, NUMA awareness and software-based TLS.” The benchmarks were accomplished using Varnish Enterprise 6.0 deployed on a Supermicro 2U CloudDC server powered by 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, without requiring the use of specialized, added-cost TLS offload cards. Supermicro's CloudDC server line is an optimized platform targeting private and public clouds offered in 1U and 2U form factors in single or dual processor configurations. These servers are optimized for balance among processor, memory, storage, expansion, and networking to give the best efficiency. For expansion, each of these servers offer a variety of PCI-Express (PCIe) Gen 5 x8 and x16 slots for the latest PCIe cards. CloudDC is a well rounded server that gives the best cost to optimized performance ratio. “We deliver first-to-market innovations and IT Solutions that are environmentally friendly and fit every organization's objectives and budget,” said Michael Mcnerney, vice president, Marketing and Network Security, Supermicro. “The collaboration with Intel and Varnish Software is an example of how we are working closely with best-in-class technology partners to deliver the latest generation of cutting-edge solutions, specifically in the video streaming and CDN space.” Importantly, the throughput and energy efficiencies achieved with this benchmark can be applied to a broad range of servers depending on customer requirements. Varnish looks forward to working with key partners Intel and Supermicro on solutions that support a wide range of video and content delivery workloads leveraging cost-effective system footprints and energy efficiency. Parties interested in learning more can contact Varnish directly or schedule a meeting with Varnish at MWC in Barcelona, February 27 – March 2, 2023. By Mario Seiglie in Orange County, CA - February 18, 2023 - In preparing for the upcoming Passover, we need to examine ourselves: our actions, attitudes and spiritual lives, for God considers the conditions of the heart. At the very beginning of His ministry and in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus outlined these conditions of the heart in the eight Beatitudes. These "beautiful attitudes" determine how to improve ourselves before God and others.
By Robin Webber in Las Vegas, NV, Redlands, CA, San Diego, CA - February 11, 2023 - All people have problems, challenges, and trials--Christians too! James 1:2-8 makes this plain and reminds us not "if" but "when" they come to experience God's "joy." Not "happiness" but joy! What's that about? How can we learn to exist "by faith" in what comes our way by either our own actions or those of others? We will explore both spiritually and positive examples of Scripture at times by the same person. At the end we will more than ever see that God is guiding us towards His purposes for our good.

By Mario Seiglie in Orange County, CA - February 26, 2022 - With the recent outbreak of war in Europe as Russia has invaded its neighbor, the Ukraine, we can see that biblical prophecy is being fulfilled. We should understand from this message how Russia is prophesied about in the Bible.
By Mario Seiglie in Orange County, CA - February 19, 2022 - What would you consider is the most famous scripture used by Protestants and Evangelicals? It might be John 3:16. As we will see, it is one of the most misunderstood scriptures ever.
By Robin Webber in San Diego, CA - February 19, 2022 - Division is part & parcel of human nature whether it be empires, nations, families or churches. Isa. 58:12 speaks in a Messianic sense of a "Repairer of the Breach". This message given on Presidents Day Weekend focuses on a man who brought two giants of American History back together after years of friction. An intro to discussing Esther, Barnabas, Aquila & Priscilla & you as Kingdom Bearers.
By Mario Seiglie in Orange County, CA - February 12, 2022 - The biblical phrase, "the first shall be last and the last shall be first" may be rather confusing to many as it doesn't explain itself. This concept does hold three important lessons that we should understand for our self-examination in applying Christ's teachings in our lives. These teachings are given in the following verses: Mark 10:17-31, Mt 20:1-16, Luke 13:22-30, Matt 5:17-20, and Rev 20:6.
By Mario Seiglie in Orange County, CA - February 5, 2022 - God is calling us to become spiritual climbers to reach the peak of His holy mountain, the Kingdom of God.
By Robin Webber in Las Vegas, NV, Redlands, CA, San Diego, CA - February 5, 2022 - 1 John 5:18-21 Speaks of the "true God" and concludes by warning Jesus' followers to "keep yourself from idols." What it meant then vs. what it means today may seemingly be different in nature or is it? This message unwinds the "thread of idolatry" from Genesis to Revelation and is a warning and encouragement to the Body of Christ to "buckle up" NOW as we move into a "post-Christian age" immersed in a pervasive and expanding human-based secularism. We are slowly moving into an Early Church experience of a minority position as to whom we will bow---to God or the idol of Self.

Embroidery Education and Fun Terry: As frequently happens with the Reggies, we learned about your channel from your dedicated followers' nominations. What made you decide to take that route for teaching? Aaron: Unlike some of the online content we've seen in your space, you have not only tips videos but structured, project-driven classes that your ‘students' can participate in. What do you think your students get from these scheduled classes and how does this integrate with the Facebook Group? Terry: In our pre-interview, you said your teaching style is geared to make people feel confident and ‘at ease' - What's different about the way you teach that gives people that confidence? Aaron: Many of your projects and classes are more what we might expect to see in the craft/home embroidery market. Though a lot of the skills in digitizing are applicable on both sides of the home/commercial split, do you see a lot of classic logo work or apparel decorators taking an interest in your groups? Terry: We have seen a lot of crossover lately between embroidery hobbyists and cottage-industry decorators. What do you wish that the commercial folks would teach the home/cottage industry embroiderers? Aaron: So what is the one tip you would give someone who came to you with little or no experience to get them going? Terry: What is the most common Facebook Group question you get? Thanks for listening! 10 Things for 2018 1) Terry: I'd like to see more of the industry pros (not just a person with a video camera) produce how-to YouTube videos. And wouldn't it be great if like in Twitter we could have the Verified User symbol attached that says, “This person actually has experience and this is good information.” Maybe an SGIA Verified logo would be the symbol of expertise for the industry. Erich Campbell · Can't agree enough about the video thing; many groups are thinking in the same way and creating groups of solid consultants Erich Campbell · It's happening in the vendor space as well, but I can see having a more independent group of experts, too. Bruce Basen · Like the verified idea 2) Aaron: I'd like to see a Sublimation Committee at SGIA. The garment committee is awesome, and they are doing some great thing with SGIA like the upcoming ThreadX and I think they have some great sublimation representation in people like Chris Bernet from Vapor. But I think Sublimation as a decorating technique of things outside of garments is growing and will continue to bridge more and more decorating challenges with things like single pass print technology and vacuum press opportunities. Side Note - I just wanted to give a shout out to Ford Bowers and the team at SGIA. I have been very impressed with the direction of things since Ford took over and for all the staff there that has embraced his changes. You have amazing people that have been there for a while like Johnny Shell and Sondra Fry Benoudiz and Marci Kinter who continue to serve the industry and are embracing the changes. There are so many people there to list everyone, but people like Sarah Perkins who is heading up the SGIA side of ThreadX, Ray Weis, Erin Nuss and Dan Marx who are doing some amazing stuff with SGIA's educational programs. The list goes on an on. Kudos and keep it up. 3) Terry: I think I covered this a couple years ago, but I'd love to see a reasonably priced direct-to-screen machine. Besides the film savings at about $1.00 per sheet, you would also have screens with images burned in the exact same position for all colors, and no risk of flipping the film backward. And… no storage of films, just storage of your digital files. If you can buy a commercial quality direct-to-garment printer for $15,000, why not a direct-to-screen printer. Bruce Basen · Check out the Saati LTS 4) Aaron: There are some really good educational opportunities and people that do it very well. Like Terry mentioned in his first thing we need a way to sift through it all. Some of it is on Youtube, Some of it is on Facebook, some of it is in written format, some of it is seminars and some of it is actual hands-on classes. Honestly,

Planning for 2018 Aaron: People - One of the things you talked about last year Terry, was change and any business is going to be looking at how they change things up and improve. One of the by-products of improving and growing is how that affects the people that are part of your business. Reviews - Honest assessment from both sides and focus on the positives and then look at the areas that can improve. Budgeting - Payroll can be one of the biggest expenses at many companies, and a thorough review of those expenses and how they fit in your business is needed. Do you need to trim so fat so to speak? Do you need to budget more so you can attract higher levels of employees? Terry: Time Management in a New Year. Better management of your time will make your work life easier. Here's an assignment that might feel like a chore but can change your whole year!” Make a chart with 15-minute blocks, make a short note of what you did for the previous 14 minutes. Do this for an entire week, and then total up each block by category. If you're an owner or senior manager, getting caught up in the tiniest of details running your business is a waste of your time and talent, and is holding back the growth of your business. Learn to delegate - easy to say, not so easy to do, especially if you have a history of micro-managing your company and staff. Aaron: Software/Technology Stack - There is a great deal of software out there that is all vying for our business and they all claim to make our businesses better. The problem is each business and how it operates is completely different and I have never seen a company that has the identical technology stack as another. In Fact, most off the shelf software need to be tweaked and customized for your business. Have you spent the time to do that and if not is the tool really helping? Inventory Management/ Purchasing Marketing Automation / Business Intelligence Terry: Sleeping Better in 2018. Get control of your schedule. Knowing where you stand - for better or worse - will make communications with your customers and your employees 1000 times better. I've done articles, seminars and a book on Estimating Production Time. What makes you and/or your employees crazy every day at work. Is it a fellow employee? Is it unrealistic demands? Is there something or someone who makes you dread getting out of bed each morning? Planning can include removing roadblocks, including people. Aaron: Customer Experience - Take this time to either yourself or ask a close friend or relative, to walk through the customer's experience of doing business with you. Try to go back as far as you can in the process

We'll discuss this concept, and how this same information relates to the single machine shop. Take a look at our incredible weekly guest list and you'll understand where this industry goes for news, interviews and the heartbeat of garment decorating. Thanks for listening! Thank you to the Veterans! Direct to Garment Production Terry: Chris, tell us about your journey through direct-to-garment printing. Started with 26 Kornits, half of them in existence. Year 1 was testing, Anajet, MSI, brother, Sawgrass, Brother is still there running. Had the first 3 machines from Belquette, curing problems, pretreat problems, ink problems. Anajet was early to the Ricoh game and now has real engineers. Bob Marino and a crazy test a day. Aaron: It sounds like your DTG experience is on the larger scale side. Does what you do translate to a smaller DTG operation? It all comes down to control. Garbage in garbage out. Most problems are caused by changing situations you didn't know where changing. Go use the equipment at a trade show and don't be shy. Terry: You've had your finger on the pulse of DTG for quite a while now. Where are we going from here? Back to the future multi-station? Single headed consumer machines? New chemistry? Aaron: Any surprises we should expect on the DTG front in the short or long future? It's not about the machine, it's about the content and the relationship. Terry: What advice would you offer someone just now contemplating or just stepping into the DTG arena? Have someone like Eric over at Scalable Press make your work for you until you make enough money to buy a decent used machine. There is so much to learn Aaron: Talk to our listeners about your new business Web based preflighting. Terry: Who can benefit from this technology? Anyone who wants to save time... Terry: Chris, let's shift gears completely and tell us about the work you and your wife are doing in Tanzania. Chris Freeman is a Kentucky native, computer programmer, and Process Engineer. He is a digital printing expert with ten years of experience as an Engineering Director at cafepress. He currently operates a print production consulting business providing advice and software for the print industry. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville Speed School of Engineering. He has spent his career creating unique and automated processes to address the challenges of complex short-run work. His time at cafepress was marked by phenomenal growth and changes at the company and in the printing industry as a whole, from the explosion of Epson-based DTG printers in 2007 to the next generation of purpose-built machines. At the start of his tenure, he worked for a company that owned half the Kornits ever made, and by the time he left Epson was selling and supporting a DTG printer. Chris is currently focused on automated graphics preparation for printing and web-to-print integration. He sees the need for smaller customers to be able to easily generate specialty graphics with spot colors and larger customers to be able to do this in an automated fa...
Please find some links and notes from the 2 Regular Guys Podcast. Today we'll be talking Niche Markets, REGGIE Awards, and we'll start with a conversation on SGIA's ThreadX with guests Greg Kitson from Mind's Eye Graphics and Sarah Perkins from SGIA. Sponsored by: SGIA.org | ThreadX - Palm Springs, CA February 25-28, 2018 What is THREADX? (Register now to reserve your space before it is sold out.) Niche Markets Corporate Events A new market that's been developing for a few years for DTG operators is setting up at a corp event, taking pics in front of a backdrop, and each guest takes home a t-shirt at the end. Hedgehog Rescue Everyone has a passion out there. Tying your business and your niche market to it makes the process easier because of your market knowledge and more fun. From Erich in the chat. “Promoting as an insider; people can see how genuine you are.” Shirt of the Month Justin Lawrence from Oklahoma Shirt Company. This niche came up during an interview and I think it bears repeating. Schools, but doing a Better Job My daughter is a Junior at a local Scottsdale HS and she was telling me about her experience getting her school shirt for the year. I've talked to printers during seminars who just do a better job! An idea doesn't have to be unique, you just have to do it better. Taking it on the Road I met a couple in Charlotte who basically said to me, “We want to take it on the road. Can we do that with your machine?” Their daughter is in competitive cheer and they wanted to combine a business with their regular travels. My response was, “Why not?” Do you travel for your kids' events, or maybe travel for your own events like car shows, competition shooting, or a million other passions. Partnering with Radio Stations Talking to a screen printer recently who talked about all the business introductions he got by doing shirts for a local radio station. Special broadcast events and backstage passes were just as important to this printer as the trade of shirts of advertising. 20 Ideas Sit down and make a list of 20 unique concepts or places for selling garments. Don't stop until you write 20 ideas, without judging the quality of your list. 2 Regular Guys Talking Decoration Chat Room Erich Campbell: Good morning, guys! :) 2 Regular Guys: Welcome in Erich! Join Lee Harrington in this rich discussion with sexuality and spirituality advocate, author and educator Xochiquetzal. They dive into race and appropriation in paganism and kink communities alike, sharing the idea that “race play” means something totally different as a Latina woman thinking of the Aztecs. From types of ways that people work to be “seen” in the world to the censure that we do to ourselves every day of our lives, Xochiquetzal and Lee examine how respect comes into play as explorers finding their ways in the world. While doing so, they acknowledge our energetic fatigue and ask each person to breathe deep and find a life beyond the shame gifted to us by our overculture. *** Xochiquetzal is a High Priest/ess within the Treebridge Tradition, through Lyceum of the Wayfarer. They are an initiated Shaktist, an Umbandista, a Polytheist, and Catholic. They rarely have issues with navigating these strangely mixed worlds.
