“MK Confidential” opens with the words of a killer. John List narrates the morning of Tuesday, November 9, 1971, the day his carefully laid plans to kill each member of his family will become reality. By the end of it, his mother, wife, and three children will all lie dead on the floor of Breeze Knoll. Megyn Kelly steps through the day, piece by piece, as John bookends his day with murder — his wife and mother before breakfast, his children after lunch — and runs through a list of ordinary errands befitting a man about to leave town. He fields two unexpected phone calls and more resistance than he anticipated. He cooks, eats, and cleans up after dinner in the kitchen where he shot his wife. He writes letters detailing their deaths. Then, the next morning, he vanishes. Weeks later, the FBI puts out John List's face across America, on a flier that describes a six-foot, gray-haired accountant, armed and considered very dangerous. Tips come back by the hundreds, with sightings from Oregon to England. Each one turns out to be somebody else. John List, who murdered his entire family and then slept soundly in his stately Victorian house, simply steps out of the known world. This is Episode 3 of the John List story. What happens when you come in to learn about investing and end up rebuilding your entire life? This week on The Spiritual Investor Podcast, I speak with Megan Taylor about exactly this. Megan Taylor is a globally recognized DJ, music strategist, and retreat producer, known as a DJ Alchemist for the way she fuses sound and energy into experiences people do not forget. Over fifteen years she has worked with SoulCycle, Vogue, Nike, Facebook, the WNBA, and TEDx, was voted Chicago's Best DJ, and was named among BizBash's Top 500 Most Influential Event Professionals and Top 25 Entertainers. She also holds a Master's in Emotional and Social Intelligence, produces transformational retreats for spiritual entrepreneurs from Mexico to England, and has done two rounds of the SI Mastermind. She joined to learn about money. What she left with was a new relationship, a new city, a dissolved relationship with time, and a completely different understanding of what abundance actually is. We talk about her decision to sell everything, live nomadically, and land in Tulum with no plan. We talk about the dinner party that opened a whole new timeline. And we talk about the moment she realized her carefully tracked budget was not responsible money management, it was a ceiling she had built herself. In this episode: Why abundance is one energy and money is only one of the forms it takes How living outside of time creates the space for things to reorganize on your behalf Certainty as an embodied state rather than a prediction about the future The difference between being all in and being half in Why Megan let go of the numbers and what happened after Breaking the structure on purpose instead of waiting for life to break it for you To learn more about Megan, visit www.thisismegantaylor.com or follow Megan on Instagram @djmegantaylor. And if you'd like to learn what song Megan and I talk about in the episode, applications for the September SI Mastermind cohort are open now. This is the last week to get early bird pricing. Apply now so you don't miss it. Visit www.thespiritualinvestor.com/simastermind.
I know it's been a long wait, and you've had to settle for listening to "The" Joe Rogan Experience or The Daily, or maybe for staring glassy-eyed at a chair or at your friends' faces while they ask you if you're sure you're okay. But you can stop all that now. We're back. And we're back with more C.S. Lewis, who in turn is back with a certain poet I like to call John Skelton. Because that was his name. Could he have been England's first rapper? Lil' Skeltie? Tune in and find out. This week, Dr. Katherine Wyma and I continue our tour of C.S. Lewis' Oxford History of English Literature (Excluding Drama), or, as he liked to call it, "the OHEL," because...he hated writing it. That said, it's quite clear that the research Lewis conducted for the book--for over a decade--inspired much of his creative work. Further, it's clear that he was interested in what he wrote about here and admired Skelton's poetry, at least a bit. We're in Book I of The Oxford History of English Literature today--mainly the section marked "The Close of the Middle Ages in England," and we're focusing on Skelton, because he is the most significant poet to write during this time--at least in England. (We recorded an earlier episode on "The Close of the Middle Ages in Scotland," but I have, to my great regret, misplaced that file. So if you were hoping to get that Dunbar or Henryson fix we all need sometimes, I'm afraid you'll have to wait a bit longer--so sorry!) So join us (and Lewis) as we mark time with Skelton, thinking about old age, death, and eccentric rhythms that aren't quite meter, but also aren't quite...not meter. Among other things, we discuss: 0:00 — Introduction & the OHEL Project 7:38 — John Skelton & Eleanor Rumming 14:23 — Medieval Body Humor & Aging 18:06 — Skeltonic Meter & Philip Sparrow 23:50 — Lewis on Philip Sparrow 28:40 — Grief, Pets, and Childhood 33:26 — Lewis vs. Eliot & Wrap-up This is taken from Chapter 2 of Here, by the way, are the two most famous Skelton poems we discuss: The Tunning of Elenor Rumming The Book of Philip Sparrow By the way--my reading of these poems is meant to sort of suggest how they sound without going full Middle (or even Early Modern) English on you. So, yes, I realize it's sort of neither fish nor fowl. But it was fun. If you want to add anything or make any suggestions, or just reach out and say hi, please don't hesitate to contact me at inklingsvarietyhour@gmail.com. Next: George MacDonald's Lilith!

Shane and Kody Sherlund are back for episode 199, one away from a big milestone, with a packed slate covering tax policy, tech layoffs, opportunity zones, private fund pitfalls, and California's groundbreaking wealth tax. They kick off with the IRS issuing proposed regulations on employer contributions to Trump accounts, what Section 530a actually means, and where these accounts fit in the order of operations next to a 529. Then it's on to the latest wave of tech layoffs at Google, TikTok, Etsy, and Zillow, whether AI is really the culprit nobody wants to name, and why creative destruction has always worked this way. They also cover Opportunity Zone 2.0 and deferring 2026 capital gains into 2027, the Wall Street Journal's warning that private funds come with big tax bills most people aren't factoring in, and California's new wealth tax, which saw only six billionaires leave but take $27 billion in potential revenue with them. They close with the most common question on the internet: " Do I need an LLC?" Topics covered: IRS proposed regulations on Trump accounts and employer contributions Section 530a explained and where it fits next to a 529 Tech layoffs at Google, TikTok, Etsy, and Zillow, and the AI elephant in the room The golden era of AI-enabled solopreneurs and creative destruction Opportunity Zone 2.0 and deferring 2026 capital gains into 2027 Private funds come with big tax bills, and most investors are not factoring in California's wealth tax: six billionaires left and took $27 billion with them State clawbacks and what Anthropic employees moving out of California need to know Do I need an LLC? On the eve of D-Day, the fate of the world hangs not on the beaches of Normandy, but deep within a secret Nazi facility in occupied France. Here, in a claustrophobic, slave-driven mine codenamed Noball 109, German scientists are racing to perfect a terror weapon that would render the Allied invasion obsolete: atomic-tipped V-2 rockets aimed at the heart of London Enter Miriam Maduro, a ghost haunted by her past. A brilliant and courageous Dutch-Jewish SOE agent, she has already been captured, tortured, and escaped the Nazis once. Now, the British pull her from the shadows for an offer she can't refuse: undertake a suicide mission to infiltrate and destroy the rocket facility, and they will guarantee safe passage for her young son and sister from Palestine to England. The team discussed upcoming plans for their 300th episode, including potentially featuring archived content and a special edition if listeners suggest ideas. Keith shared updates about resolving RSS issues and his upcoming dental surgery, which will require removing eight teeth and potentially getting a partial denture. News of the Week The group shared news stories, including research on giraffes’ mathematical abilities, a goose alerting a family to a barn fire, and current fashion trends. The unusual news continued with an ongoing investigation into a mysterious local odor and the box-office success of the new Spider-Man movie. Jill shared a story about soccer player Hamed Ali, who set a world record by kicking a ball into a basketball hoop from 39.27 feet. Inspired by Chicago’s successful Special Olympics event that raises over $480,000 annually, Keith proposed organizing a similar rubber duck race fundraiser along the Mississippi River for MCAB. Terry concluded the segment with a story about Turbo, a 50-year-old tortoise rescued from train tracks in England following a 10-minute track shutdown. Jill's Trivia Quiz Jill hosted a trivia quiz about the TV show “I Dream of Jeannie,” testing Keith and Terry’s knowledge of the series. They tackled questions about the cast—including Larry Hagman as Tony Nelson and Barbara Eden as Jeannie—along with guest appearances by stars like Milton Berle and Sammy Davis Jr. The quiz proved challenging when it came to lesser-known characters and guest stars, proving that even familiar shows hold surprising details. Terry's Top 10 List Terry presented a top 10 list of humorous aspects of dating a blind person, touching on surprise fashion choices, becoming a designated storyteller, and unexpected room rearrangements. Anchor Topic Keith reviewed a newly delivered digital projector, expressing disappointment over its lack of accessibility features. Although he noted its solid technical performance, its heavy reliance on visual coordination and lack of wireless connectivity made it nearly impossible for him to use. Because of these accessibility barriers, Keith gave it a low rating and mentioned he may gift it to someone who can utilize it. Email and Final Thoughts Keith shared an email from an old Marine Corps buddy regarding a wardrobe malfunction, followed by a listener email about a debate over when life begins overheard at a barbershop. A voicemail submission presented a unique dilemma involving a man who needed one more child to win a radio contest. Finally, the hosts discussed a voicemail regarding a workplace pay dispute that escalated to theft; Keith expressed sympathy for the employee’s situation while maintaining that illegal action wasn’t the right solution. The Final Word From Our AI Companion This transcript captures an episode of a comedy podcast featuring hosts Keith, Jill, and Terry as they share lighthearted stories, personal updates, and clever visual humor. The episode wrapped up with the hosts signing off and providing contact information for future listener submissions. Show notes written by AI, edited is needed by Keith. Voters in eastern England are headed to the polls today for a byelection triggered by hard-right Reform UK leader Nigel Farage - and he's facing off against a unique rival. In this episode, we speak about Bledge's return to golf after struggling with serious back problems. He explains how gym work and a different treatment approach have helped him recover, and how much better he feels both physically and mentally after being able to play again. We also discuss his summer golf trips, starting with visits to Ganton and Alwoodley in Yorkshire. We talk about the character and conditioning of both courses, the sand-based ground at Ganton, and the heathland style and historic design influence at Alwoodley, including Alister MacKenzie's role there.A major part of the conversation focuses on measuring firmness and the move away from Clegg readings toward USGA-style numbers. We talk through why firmness numbers can be harder for people to understand than stimp readings, but also why they are important and how golfers and greenkeepers begin to interpret them through repeated use.We then turn to the weather and the long dry period affecting the northwest of England. We discuss rainfall totals, evaporation and water budgets, the difficulty of replacing lost moisture, and the practical limits of irrigation on courses with restricted water sources or mains supply. We also cover how drought is changing agronomy and course management. James explains the impact on different fescue cultivars, the importance of aeration and rooting, the use of wetting agents, and how overseeding choices are being adjusted toward more drought-tolerant grasses. Finally, we discuss Royal Birkdale and the Open Championship setup. We talk about the brown, firm conditions, the way the course played, the importance of bounce and variety, and how the event was presented. We also touch on the broader idea that golf courses need to adapt to changing climate conditions, and James closes by describing a recent combine harvester ride and the appeal of that kind of machinery. It's Hump Day on The Majority Report On Today's program: On the way home from the NATO summit in Ankara, Air Force One was forced to land in England because of a threat from Iran. Through Moncell's perspective, we dig into what dancers can consider when new professional opportunities emerge, from sustainability and understanding contracts to asking better questions before signing on the dotted line. This isn't legal advice, but rather an invitation for dancers to think critically, stay curious, and better understand the opportunities in front of them. NO OTHER NAME - ACTS 4:1-12 - BRIAN SUMNER - 2026ACTS 4:1-12 "Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, 2 being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.Addressing the Sanhedrin5 And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes, 6 as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. 7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, “By what power or by what name have you done this?”8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 9 If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.' 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”To support this channel and partner with Brian in Ministryhttps://www.briansumner.net/support/For more on Brianhttp://www.briansumner.nethttps://www.instagram.com/BRIANSUMNER/https://www.facebook.com/BRIANSUMNEROFFICIALTo listen to Brians Podcast, click below.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Purchase Brians Marriage book at https://www.amazon.com/Never-Fails-Da...Brian is a full time "Urban Missionary" both locally and internationally with a focus on MISSIONS - MARRIAGES - MINISTRY. The Superhero Show #634Fantastic Four: Johnny Storm's Flame On RapThe Superhero Show — Johnny Storm's Flame On RapThis week, The Superhero Show dives into one of the silliest, strangest, and most entertaining episodes yet from the 1994 Fantastic Four animated series: Episode 1.11, “Mole Man.” The hosts go into the episode already excited to talk about its reputation for being wonderfully ridiculous, but there is one moment they have been especially looking forward to: Johnny Storm's infamous “Flame On Rap.”Before getting to the rap, however, the hosts break down the introduction of Mole Man, his hilariously elaborate plan to destroy famous landmarks around the world, and his ultimate goal of bringing the entire surface world down into his underground kingdom. From Mole Man's appearance to his costume to his master plan, the hosts find almost every aspect of the character endlessly entertaining. Then comes the moment they've been waiting for—the Flame On Rap. The hosts dive into the history behind the musical number, including the voice actor's desire to use the song as a way to break into the music industry. They discuss the production, the amount of work that apparently went into creating the song, and whether the finished product actually has what it takes to launch Johnny Storm into the music business.Flame On Rap: Mole Man Wants the World UndergroundThe hosts begin their recap with the introduction of Mole Man and his absolutely ridiculous master plan.Mole Man has decided that the best way to conquer the world is to bring the surface world down to him. His scheme begins with targeting famous landmarks around the globe, including the pyramids and England's Parliament. Eventually, his plan escalates toward his ultimate target: the White House. The hosts have an absolute blast discussing the sheer absurdity of the plan. They break down how Mole Man believes that destroying the world's most recognizable landmarks will eventually allow him to bring the entire surface civilization underground, where he can finally rule the world. It's a plan that is both completely nonsensical and perfectly suited to the tone of a 1990s superhero cartoon.Johnny Storm's Flame On Rap: Meet Mole ManThe hosts spend plenty of time discussing Mole Man himself, and they quickly discover that there is almost nothing about the character they don't find entertaining. From his strange appearance and oversized costume to his dramatic personality and bizarre ambitions, Mole Man feels like the perfect villain for an episode this silly. The hosts discuss how the animated series takes a traditionally serious Fantastic Four villain and pushes his ridiculous qualities to the absolute maximum. They also examine how Mole Man's personality fits into the larger world of the series and why his completely over-the-top presentation makes him such a memorable character.Johnny Storm's Flame On Rap: The World's Landmarks Are Under AttackThe hosts then walk through Mole Man's increasingly ridiculous campaign against the surface world. The destruction of famous landmarks gives the Fantastic Four plenty of opportunities to chase Mole Man around the globe while simultaneously demonstrating just how massive his plan has become. The hosts discuss the escalating stakes while laughing at the idea that Mole Man's master plan essentially boils down to:“If I can't live on the surface, I'll just bring the surface down to me.”It's the kind of wonderfully strange logic that makes the episode so much fun to revisit.Flame On Rap: Johnny Storm Takes the MicThen comes the moment everyone has been waiting for: the Flame On Rap.Some of the hosts had already seen clips of Johnny Storm's musical performance before watching the episode, so they were especially excited to finally experience the full thing in context. The hosts break down the rap itself, discussing the lyrics, delivery, animation, music, and overall production. They are fascinated by the story behind the song, particularly the fact that Johnny Storm's voice actor wanted to use the performance as an opportunity to break into the music industry. That revelation leads to a hilarious discussion about just how seriously the production appears to have taken this seemingly random cartoon rap.Flame On Rap: Was Johnny Storm About to Become a Pop Star? The hosts dig deeper into the amount of effort that went into creating the Flame On Rap and discuss how unusual it is to see something like this included in a Fantastic Four cartoon. They consider whether the song was simply a fun gimmick for the episode or whether there was genuinely an attempt to turn Johnny Storm into a music star. The hosts analyze the production quality and performance while comparing it to the kinds of promotional music and cartoon tie-ins that were common during the 1990s.Even if Johnny never becomes Marvel's next great rapper, the hosts agree that the Flame On Rap is one of the most memorable moments the series has produced so far.Flame On Rap: The Perfectly Silly Fantastic Four EpisodeAs the hosts wrap up their discussion, they reflect on just how much fun they had watching “Mole Man.”After some of the more serious and complicated stories earlier in the season, this episode gives the hosts an opportunity to simply enjoy the cartoon for what it is. Mole Man's ridiculous plan, his bizarre appearance, the destruction of famous landmarks, and Johnny Storm suddenly becoming a rapper combine to create an episode that feels like a celebration of everything wonderfully strange about 1990s animation. The hosts agree that sometimes an episode doesn't need to be particularly deep or sophisticated to be incredibly entertaining.Final Thoughts — Johnny Storm's Flame On RapBy the end of Flame On Rap, The Superhero Show has had exactly the kind of experience they were hoping for: a completely ridiculous Fantastic Four episode that gave them plenty to laugh about and plenty to discuss. Mole Man's bizarre plan to bring the world underground is entertaining enough on its own, but Johnny Storm's Flame On Rap takes the episode to another level.Between the strange villain, the outrageous plot, the unexpected musical number, and the fascinating story behind its production, “Mole Man” proves to be one of the most purely fun episodes of the series so far. And after finally getting to experience the full Flame On Rap, the hosts can confidently say that Johnny Storm may have missed his calling as a 1990s music sensation. Are You a Research Nerd Who's Looking For More? Here are some links for all your research wants and needs!1994 Fantastic Four Animated SeriesRyan North's Fantastic FourJoin the discussions online! 1994 Fantastic Four Animated Series, Ryan North's Fantastic FourCatch Up On Past Episodes!Missed any of our past episodes? Today's crypto market is quiet, but it is not calm in a healthy way. Bitcoin is sitting around $64K ahead of the July CPI report, with perpetual trading activity at its lowest level since 2023 and volatility still compressed. The market is waiting for a macro catalyst, but underneath the surface, traders are cautious, altcoins are fragile, and sell pressure from public miners remains a real issue. The biggest security story is Harmony. The project confirmed an exploit where an attacker minted roughly 4 billion ONE tokens, equal to more than a quarter of the supply. ONE fell around 40%, exchanges were asked to freeze funds, and Harmony is now looking at emergency fixes and possible rollback options. That is not just a hack. That is a monetary-integrity failure. On the institutional side, Fidelity is moving to add staking and quarterly cash payouts to its nearly $900 million Ether ETF. That is a major step toward yield-bearing Ethereum ETFs. At the same time, public Bitcoin miners have sold about 28,000 BTC this year, worth roughly $1.78 billion, adding another layer of selling pressure to the market.Regulation is also busy. Russia wants retail crypto trading limited to Bitcoin, Ether, and USDT. The Bank of England is testing how stablecoins and a potential digital pound could work together in trade finance. The CFTC is fighting New York to keep Kalshi operating, while FlightAware dropped its separate lawsuit against Kalshi after just one day.The core theme today: Bitcoin is stuck in hibernation, but the rest of crypto is not quiet. Exploits, regulation, tokenized finance, Ethereum staking, and AI competition are all moving while BTC waits for CPI. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

"For me, the driver has always been love. It's been a love of thriving nature, it's been a love of rich and interesting landscapes and it's been this despair at seeing so few of them in our own country." Reading George Monbiot's book 'Feral' a decade ago opened Ben Goldsmith's eyes to the truly dire state of nature in Britain, and to the notion that rewilding is the big idea which has the potential to turn things round.George is a truly brilliant and articulate nature campaigner. He emphasises that many of the landscapes in the UK are pretty dire in ecological terms but that this damage can be reversed through rewilding. Ben Goldsmith is a British financier and rewilding enthusiast. Join him as he speaks to people from all over the world who champion nature and are helping to restore habitats and wildlife to some of the most nature depleted parts of our planet. This podcast is produced by The Podcast Coach.Text Rewilding the World here. ⚠️ This episode discusses antidepressants, mental health treatment, withdrawal and sensitive topics around psychiatric medication. Please seek professional guidance before making any changes to your medication. This week I'm joined by Dr Mark Horowitz, clinical research fellow in psychiatry, co-author of the Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines, and one of the most important voices in the world right now on antidepressants and how to come off them safely. We explore the science behind antidepressants, what they actually do to the brain, and what nobody told you about coming off them.Dr Mark Horowitz is a clinical research fellow at University College London and North East London NHS Foundation Trust. He co-authored the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines, which have begun to change clinical guidance on antidepressant withdrawal worldwide. His research on tapering and withdrawal has been published in leading medical journals and has directly influenced NHS and international prescribing guidelines. He founded the National Prescribing Support Service and has trained clinicians at Outro Health in America in safer tapering approaches. He has personal experience of antidepressant withdrawal, which led him to dedicate his career to helping others through the same process. What we explore together:Why 1 in 6 people in England are on antidepressants — and whether we are overprescribingWhat antidepressants actually do to the brain and why the chemical imbalance theory is misleadingWhy the clinical trial data on antidepressants is far less impressive than most people realiseThe emotional blunting effect — what it is, why it happens and what to do about itWhy 85% of people recover from depression within 12 months with no intervention at allWhat withdrawal actually feels like — and why doctors so often get it wrongHow to taper safely and why doing it too fast causes so much unnecessary sufferingWhat the alternatives to antidepressants are and why they are rarely offered firstLove, Sarah Ann
Our summer tradition at Here’s the Thing continues, as staff members choose their favorite conversations from the archives for our Summer Staff Pick series. This week, we revisit Alec’s conversation with Jon Anderson. Many words can be used to describe singer-songwriter Jon Anderson; cautious is not one of them. Born in England in 1944, he began singing on his brother’s daily route as a milkman before falling head first for rock n’ roll. After meeting bassist Chris Squire in the late 1960s, he joined a rock group called Mabel Greer’s Toy Shop—and the two left to form a band that was later renamed Yes. Now 72, he’s sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. But for the adventurous Anderson—whose rendition of Goldfinger earned him the nickname "The Shirley Bassey of Rock and Roll," it’s still all about the music.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Richard III's son and heir, Edward of Middleham, dies unexpectedly. Then tragedy strikes twice: his wife Queen Anne dies, too. Richard, who ruthlessly diverted the line of succession away from his nephews, now has to contend with a dynastic line reset to zero. His solution? Incest. His niece, Elizabeth of York — daughter of late King Edward IV — is being pitched as England's new Queen. But thrusting incest onto an increasingly agitated kingdom isn't exactly what the people want. It's fertile ground for other nobles who have any claim to the throne, like Henry Tudor. And so, he — along with Richard's ever-growing list of enemies — descend on England. – As always, Dan's royal favourites can chime in anytime on the royal court on Patreon at patreon.com/thisishistory. It's where you get your bonus episodes, and on this week's episode Dan and Al discuss whether Richard III had buyers' remorse, Henry Tudor's shadow court in France, and why France's Charles VIII was interested in driving a wedge between England and Brittany. – A Sony Music Entertainment production. Remember last month when President Trump went to the NATO Summit in Turkey and they switched out Air Force One planes for the prez? Well, turns out he didn't fly on either one of them. According the Washington Post, Trump and his closest aides got in catering truck after boarding the plane and were taken to a different military jet to fly to England. Incredible. It's getting worse and worse for Tony Fauci... and all of us. Wow, how many lies could this man tell? According to his text messages, Fauci was concerned about first trimester miscarriages for women after taking the Covid jab. His concern was proven to be the truth.... his public backing of the vax to go ahead and take it if you're pregnant was criminal. Missouri's Will Scharf has been promoted by the president and he's more than deserving. The WNBA is at a crossroads, after 30 years in business, because they're trying to figure out what a "woman" is in their rules and charter. This league is a mess. It's Tuesday, August 11th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Timothy Reed Canada euthanized Christian grandmother against her will The nation of Canada continues down the dark path of euthanasia. This time, comes this shocking story, where the state euthanized Brigitte Stegemann, an 83-year-old Christian grandmother, against her will and the will of her family. On the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition blog, her granddaughter said, “One of our greatest ethical concerns is that GG had explicitly declined [Medical Assistance in Dying], stating it violated her Christian faith. Once a vulnerable patient explicitly declines this path, the facility should never have targeted her for re-evaluation behind closed doors while her primary advocate was away.” More than 5% of all deaths in Canada are attributed to Medical Assistance in Dying. It is the fifth leading cause of death there. Psalm 94:4 and 6 cries out: “How long shall they utter and speak hard things and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? … They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.” Severe drought in Europe and blazing hot July in America God has brought a severe drought on Europe. Since 1836, the month of July was the driest for England and Wales in recorded history, reports Reuters. Similarly, the United States experienced the hottest July since 1895. Also, March 2026 was the hottest March ever — 9.4° above the 20th-century average. Ukraine drone attack killed 13 Russians, injured 75 Ukraine's drone attack on Russia's oil hub killed 13 citizens and wounded another 75 over the weekend, reports PBS. Russia says they shut down 450 drones. In addition, Russia killed 21 people in Kyiv in this ongoing drone-based tit-for-tat warfare. The changing military alliances overseas Internationally, nations are lining up in allied positions. Just last week, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia signed a pact, in which all three nations agreed that an attack on any of the three nations would be taken as an attack on all. Pakistan's relationship with China has also warmed up considerably. China supplies Pakistan's military weaponry and Pakistan strongly supports Beijing on Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea. If we include China's growing relationship with Russia, this axis of powers now holds 6,100 nuclear warheads in total, almost exactly the same number held by the allied powers of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, India, and Israel. Keep in mind: God is over all the armies of the Earth. Isaiah 13:4–5 states that “The LORD of hosts musters the army for battle. They come from a far country, from the end of Heaven, the LORD and His weapons of indignation, to destroy the whole land.” Columbia hit by major earthquake Another devastating earthquake hit Colombia yesterday morning, killing 111 people, reports the Associated Press. It was 7.4 on the Richter scale. This follows another 7.5 earthquake in Venezuela a few weeks ago, that killed 5,000 people. Colombia produces 80% of the world's cocaine. However, Friday marked the first day in office for Colombia's new president — Abelardo de la Espriella. He is an admirer of President Donald Trump and had promised an "all-out war" on the drug cartels. South America has swung to the right over the last few years. Now eight countries are led by presidents who would align more with President Donald Trump. Only three South American nations are led by presidents that bend towards the left including Brazil, Bolivia and Venezuela. Two-thirds of Americans support the death penalty Pew Research has found that Americans favor the use of the death penalty for murder convictions, in line with Genesis 9:6. A full two-thirds of Americans say they favor the death penalty, and only 32% oppose it. The numbers have remained about the same for the last seven years. Yet, in the first half of 2026, capital juries chose not to execute the murderer at least 19 times, more often than to execute. Murders in America average 15,000 per year, yet on average, only 23 murderers are put to death. That's one-tenth of one percent! And this year, only 19 murderers have received the death penalty. Genesis 9:6 says, “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in His own image.” Network for Hope shut down for its immoral organ donor system The Department of Health and Human Services has decertified Network for Hope, an organ transplant organization that was exposed for unsafe and immoral practices. Heidi Klessig of Life Site News explained, “Removing Network for Hope's certification was absolutely necessary, but will not address the most pressing problem underlying our current organ donation system: organ donors must be biologically alive in order to donate viable organs.” Attorney General Todd Blanche eager to end mail-order abortions And finally, newly appointed Attorney General Todd Blanche has pledged to work towards solidifying pro-life gains across the country, as well as to end mail-order abortions. Not surprisingly, all Democrats voted against Blanche's nomination. According to Americans United for Life, “Through his statements and actions as Acting Attorney General, Mr. Blanche has shown himself to be a sincere advocate for human life and a faithful servant of President Trump's pro-life agenda.” And Blanche himself has stated, “If states have said, ‘We are going to protect the unborn and we're going to protect every life from the moment of conception,' we're putting practices and policies in place so that other states and other organizations can't attack that. They can't do things like they're doing with mailing in mail-order drugs.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, August 11th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Print story United States exits United Nations Livestock group The United States government is pulling out of the United Nations' Global Plan of Action for Sustainable Livestock Transformation, The New American reported. The decision, announced by the Officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Paul Welcher, comes because the declaration promotes climate change, so-called equality, and other radical policies. Per Politico, “The plan, which is completely voluntary, was finally adopted by delegates on Friday [July 17]. It advises countries to address issues such as biodiversity, animal welfare, emissions and how to prevent the spread of disease.”

The vibe at every table was incredible—full of camaraderie, excitement, and a shared love for a truly outstanding trading card game. No matter your skill level, players were patient, welcoming, and happy to walk you through plays in the side events. Now, the main event, that was all business. One more thing worth noting: the crowd spanned all ages, including families, which was great to see. Next year's event is heading to Disneyland, so if you're thinking about going, start planning now! While we were in Vegas, we also tried a new game from Fort Circle Games: Hunt for Blackbeard. It's a two‑player hidden‑movement game that really picks up speed once you understand the action flow, and the tension spikes beautifully in the final two rounds. The rules take a bit to settle in, but by the second playthrough we had it down. And if Blackbeard's history isn't familiar to you, keep reading below. Blackbeard, born Edward Teach around 1680 in Bristol, England, became one of the most feared and legendary pirates of the Golden Age of Piracy, terrorizing the Caribbean and the Atlantic coast between 1716 and 1718. Known for his dramatic appearance—most famously his long black beard and the smoldering fuses he tied into it to intimidate enemies—he commanded the formidable Queen Anne's Revenge, a 40‑gun warship crewed by hundreds of men. Blackbeard's exploits included blockading Charleston, capturing merchant vessels, and cultivating a fearsome reputation that often allowed him to win without violence. He also operated with a small fleet that included the Adventure, a sloop commanded by his lieutenant Israel Hands, as well as smaller vessels such as the Margaret and the Sea Captain. His pirating career was short-lived, ending in November 1718 when he was killed in a fierce battle at Ocracoke Island, NC by Lieutenant Robert Maynard's forces, cementing his place as one of history's most iconic pirates. Gabriela joins Nuala in the studio to discuss her career and how this work was inspired by Mexico's 2019 Glitter Revolution, the nationwide feminist protests sparked after the rape of a teenage girl by four police officers, during which activists famously covered Mexico City's security chief in pink glitter. A hospital in a rural area of England has suspended its maternity services from today because of unsafe levels of staffing. Instead of going to the North Devon District hospital in Barnstaple, women in labour will have to travel more than 50 miles to Exeter. More than 15,000 people have signed a petition against the plans that was initiated by the Liberal Democrat MP for North Devon, Ian Roome. He joins presenter Nuala McGovern along with Jemima Knight who is currently pregnant with her third baby and lives in the area.Imprisonment for Public Protection sentences – or IPPs - were brought in by the Labour government in 2005, resulting in many prisoners not being given a fixed release date. One woman given a two year sentence spent sixteen years behind bars, with no idea of when she would eventually be released. They were abolished in 2012, but figures show more than 2,000 people are still impacted. As Prime Minister Andy Burnham looks into how they will play a part in his plan to reduce the prison population, we hear from Dr Muin Boase, the barrister who led the recent complaint to the UN on the continued use of this sentencing and how it's impacted women. How can we get children to read more over the summer? It's officially the National Year of Reading and evidence suggests that reading more over the holidays can help children hit the ground running in September when schools go back. But for many busy parents, getting children engaged in books and actively choosing reading over the lure of a tablet, TV or anything else can be a challenge. Liberty Venn, founder of the Children's Book Project, and award-winning author and former primary school teacher Luan Goldie join us to discuss the benefits and share their tips for getting children reading more. The Swing Riots took place in eastern and southern England in the years between the Luddite uprising and the Rebecca Riots. Drew Forsyth is an award-winning portrait photographer and director based in the North West of England, working with commercial and advertising clients across the UK and internationally. His work centres on people who've given everything to be extraordinary at what they do — from dancers with English National Ballet and musicians of the BBC Philharmonic and the Hallé Orchestras, to Nobel Prize-winning scientists, politicians, and performers at the height of their careers. His photography has been featured by BBC News, The Guardian, The Times, and Rolling Stone, and recognised by the Royal Society of the Arts. He's an AOP Accredited Photographer and Fellow of the RSA, and speaks internationally at events like Photo North, Pas de Deux Photo Conference, and the Royal Photographic Society. In this episode, Drew and Nikki trace his path from a JCPenney-style family portrait studio to photographing world leaders, Nobel laureates, and major corporate campaigns — and he breaks down exactly how he prices that work today. They dig into setting boundaries on set (and how to say yes to more without losing your mind), why those early "conveyor belt" studio years became his real technical training, and why he believes his biggest competition isn't other photographers — it's being forgotten. Drew also walks through how he actually quotes corporate jobs (day rates, itemized breakdowns, and the cautionary tale of a client who blamed him for "cheap-looking" dresses), how personal passion projects like his "Breaking Ground" series and a helicopter shoot over Manhattan became his best marketing, and the "Helsinki Bus Station Theory" — his framework for why so many photographers give up on their style right before it becomes distinctive.Topics covered:Setting boundaries with clients without losing bookingsWhy "conveyor belt" studio work builds indispensable technical skillsThe accidental path from individual sessions to corporate/organizational clientsPricing corporate shoots: day rates, itemized quotes, and scope questionsWhy past-client relationships and personal introductions beat cold outreachMarketing through consistent presence, not constant hard-sellingPassion projects as a client-acquisition strategyThe Helsinki Bus Station Theory: staying the course creativelyIf you're building a photography business, want to grow your portrait photography income, or are curious about how to make money from photography online, this conversation is packed with actionable advice.
What can we learn from trees? Robert Moor thinks that the path to a well-lived life lies in trying our best to live like a tree. Branch out, prune what doesn't work, and make use of the spots where we've been injured or broken. Robert talks to Chris about his decade-long project to write a book about the wisdom of trees, which took him from a thousand year old bonsai in Tokyo to a tree-climbing teacher in England and living in the canopy of an old growth forest in Canada to try and prevent its logging. This is an adventurous, far-ranging episode about what it means to be a human and why the answer to that question might just lie in the top branches of the nearest tree.Featured guestFollow Robert Moor on Instagram, X, Bluesky and at robertmoor.com/Buy In Trees: An ExplorationConnect with the teamFollow Chris on Instagram and at chrisduffycomedy.comBuy Chris' book, Humor Me Watch How to Be a Better Human videos on YouTube at TEDPodsFollow TED on X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTokFor the full text transcript, visit go.ted.com/BHTranscriptsFill out our survey at bit.ly/BHSurvey6 Hosted on Acast.
