“How do I know if I am saved?” It's one of the most common questions Christians ask their pastors. In this study, Dr. McGee takes us to God's Word for the definitive answer and tells us about those who profess to be believers but are living a lie.

Send us a textGood morning! Thank you for taking a few minutes to listen. If you are interested in the Daily Bible Devotional, you can find it at the links below:Amazon - (paperback, hardcover, and Kindle)Spiritbuilding.com - (premium quality paperback)Youtube Video Introducing the ContentFeel free to reach out with any questions: emersonk78@me.comRomans 5 Believers are justified by faith, living with enduring peace and hope, as they stand confidently in the grace of God. This hope is not diminished by suffering. Instead, suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope that does not disappoint, for God's love is poured into their hearts through the Holy Spirit. The love of God sustains them as He sent His Son to die for them, bringing reconciliation, salvation, and abiding joy. Paul contrasts Adam and Christ to illustrate humanity's redemption: Adam's sin brought death and condemnation to all, while Christ's obedience brings righteousness and life. Sin entered through one man's disobedience, but grace overflows to many through one Man's sacrifice. Through Jesus Christ our Lord comes the free gift of righteousness, sustained by reigning grace and protecting us unto eternal life. Living in the grace of Jesus Christ enables us to rejoice in life, no matter our circumstances. Even when we encounter various trials, these present us with opportunities to trust Him more and show our loyalty to our King. God's love, shown by the support of the Holy Spirit and the blood of Jesus, offers us assurance of protection and hope that this world cannot undermine. What man has broken through sin, God has forever repaired through Jesus. Therefore, the gift of righteousness should be our greatest treasure. Christians must express gratitude daily by maintaining an attitude of joy, praising God openly for His grace, and avoiding the sin that led Jesus to die on the cross on our behalf. Heavenly Father, we praise You for uplifting us with Your love, enabling us to stand in Your grace and rejoice in Your Son. Challenge us to live with ongoing courage and hope, showing our faith in You through difficult circumstances and when interacting with challenging people. Mankind has often chosen sin, but Your Son chose righteousness, and He has made all the difference. Empower us to be devoted to living righteously in His honor. Fill us with gratitude for Your grace and for Your Son's sacrifice on the cross. We will flee the sin that nailed Him there, in Jesus' name. Thought Questions: - What helps you be at peace during difficult times? Why are trials good for your growth, and how do they lead to greater hope in God? - Adam sinned, and mankind followed his lead. If you choose Jesus as your Savior, in what ways should you be following His lead? - “Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.” What does that continue to mean for your life, and why must you share this with others?

Romans 1:16-17 — What is salvation? Christians may use this word out of context and Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones discusses what the Bible means by the terms “being saved” and “salvation.” Romans 1:16–17 is filled with meaning regarding what happened as a result of the fall of humanity. In the sermon “God's Great Plan for Salvation,” Dr. Lloyd-Jones conveys that the Christian has a three-fold deliverance from sin through the power of salvation: deliverance from the guilt of sin, the power of sin, and the pollution of sin. Dr. Lloyd-Jones goes on to explain that salvation also has an implication of time: the Christian has been saved, is being saved, and will be saved. Paul glories in this because it emphasizes his point that he is not ashamed to preach this message of reconciliation and deliverance. This gospel applies to both the Jews and the Gentiles, those who followed the law and those who did not, and it shows that all have hope in Christ by grace through faith. Christians were previously under the wrath and destruction of God, but salvation restores them again in the hope of glory.
What would it take for us to deny our faith? Scripture foretells a future global persecution under the antichrist, similar to what many Christians face in parts of the Muslim world today. In this message, Pastor Lutzer examines how believers might endure the ultimate test of faith when facing death. God has given us spiritual resources to sustain us. Bible Reading: Revelation 7:9-12I can't even understand what they're saying," Ezra said as he and his family entered the church building. His family's car had broken down just over the Canadian border, so they now had to go to church at a place in Quebec, Canada, that his dad had heard about. Everything about the church seemed different to Ezra--the language most of all. When everyone started singing hymns, Ezra's dad passed him a book that said Cantiques on the front. "It's a hymnbook," Dad said. He flipped to the correct page and pointed to a line of words in the song. Ezra tried to follow along with the French song, but none of the words made any sense to him.Later, after church was over, Ezra noticed someone waving to him as he and his family left. He waved back, and his dad asked, "Who's that?""Oh, that's Jacque," Ezra explained. "I met him in Sunday school. He helped me understand the French on the papers the teacher handed out whenever there wasn't English underneath it.""I see," his dad said. "I suppose it was a bit confusing for you in the church service and in Sunday school.""You can say that again," Ezra replied."Going to church in a different country is an interesting experience, isn't it?" said Dad. "Though it can be confusing when things are different from what we're used to or we don't understand what's being said, it's good for us to worship God with Christians from other places in the world. We're all part of God's church and are brothers and sisters in Christ, who saved us by dying for our sins. We worship God in the same way, just in different places and languages." Dad smiled. "In fact, the apostle John wrote in the book of Revelation that there will one day be countless people of every nation, tribe, and language worshiping Jesus in heaven.""Including people from Quebec who speak French?" Ezra asked."That's right." Dad turned to see Jacque and his family leaving. "By the way, au revoir means 'goodbye' in French.""Au revoir, Jacque!" Ezra called."Au revoir, Ezra!" Jacque called back. "I hope to see you again!" –Ethan TerryHow About You?Have you ever attended a church in a different country or where a different language was spoken? Church is not simply a building--God's church is made up of everyone who trusts in Jesus, and He saves people from all over the world. Though we worship Jesus in different places and languages, we are all part of God's family, and one day we will worship Him together in heaven.Today's Key Verse:I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. Summary: In this conversation, Dr. Michael Easley and Natasha Crain address the increasing hostility Christians face in today's culture—not simply for what they believe, but that they believe. They examine the biblical call to suffer for righteousness, the roots of cultural rebellion, and why defining the “common good” must begin with God's standards, not shifting societal norms. Together, they unpack how social media fuels tribalism and outrage, and they offer practical encouragement for Christians to stay rooted in truth while engaging the world around them. Crain and Easley also confront misconceptions about pro-life advocacy, especially accusations of misogyny, and equip believers to respond with clarity and conviction. The conversation draws a sharp contrast between fleeting cultural happiness and enduring biblical joy, reminding us that true good is defined by God—not by personal preference or public opinion. With wisdom and urgency, they challenge listeners to engage cultural issues thoughtfully, biblically, and with bold grace in every sphere of influence. Takeaways: Suffering for righteousness is a biblical reality—not an exception. The common good must be defined by God's standards, not cultural sentiment. Cultural anger often stems from rebellion against God, not just disagreement. Christians are called to be salt and light—engaging, not retreating. Joy rooted in faith is far greater than the fleeting pursuit of happiness. Everyone has a sphere of influence—faithful presence starts where you are. They get more agile and increase endurance by running and doing sprints. They develop muscle memory by practicing their sport and certain moves over and over and over again. All of this is in pursuit of being ready for the competition – ready for game day. As Christians, we have our own exercises – we call them spiritual practices. We grow stronger in our faith through reading Scripture. We grow more agile and increase endurance through fasting and silence and solitude. We develop muscle memory through gratitude. Today's episode is all about spiritual practices. Host Jason Wieland is joined today by Reward Sibanda. Full Text of ReadingsSolemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist Lectionary: 586, 587The Saint of the day is Nativity of Saint John the BaptistSaint John the Baptist's Story Jesus called John the greatest of all those who had preceded him: “I tell you, among those born of women, no one is greater than John….” But John would have agreed completely with what Jesus added: “[Y]et the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he” (Luke 7:28). John spent his time in the desert, an ascetic. He began to announce the coming of the Kingdom, and to call everyone to a fundamental reformation of life. His purpose was to prepare the way for Jesus. His baptism, he said, was for repentance. But one would come who would baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire. John was not worthy even to untie his sandals. His attitude toward Jesus was: “He must increase; I must decrease” (John 3:30). John was humbled to find among the crowd of sinners who came to be baptized the one whom he already knew to be the Messiah. “I need to be baptized by you” (Matthew 3:14b). But Jesus insisted, “Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness” (Matthew 3:15b). Jesus, true and humble human as well as eternal God, was eager to do what was required of any good Jew. Jesus thus publicly entered the community of those awaiting the Messiah. But making himself part of that community, he made it truly messianic. The greatness of John, his pivotal place in the history of salvation, is seen in the great emphasis Luke gives to the announcement of his birth and the event itself—both made prominently parallel to the same occurrences in the life of Jesus. John attracted countless people to the banks of the Jordan, and it occurred to some people that he might be the Messiah. But he constantly deferred to Jesus, even to sending away some of his followers to become the first disciples of Jesus. Perhaps John's idea of the coming of the Kingdom of God was not being perfectly fulfilled in the public ministry of Jesus. For whatever reason, when he was in prison he sent his disciples to ask Jesus if he was the Messiah. Jesus' answer showed that the Messiah was to be a figure like that of the Suffering Servant in Isaiah. John himself would share in the pattern of messianic suffering, losing his life to the revenge of Herodias. Reflection John challenges us Christians to the fundamental attitude of Christianity—total dependence on the Father, in Christ. Except for the Mother of God, no one had a higher function in the unfolding of salvation. Yet the least in the kingdom, Jesus said, is greater than he, for the pure gift that the Father gives. The attractiveness as well as the austerity of John, his fierce courage in denouncing evil—all stem from his fundamental and total placing of his life within the will of God. Consider how much of your time, how much of your life, is built around your work. Yet, so many of the books and materials that look at what it means to live as Christians only focus on our evenings and our weekends. How are we to be a Christian on the job? We're going to look at some basic principles of what God says we must do to approach our work and our jobs in a Christian way. Looking at Ephesians 6, we see that this passage knocks down two false views of work: 1) that work is a curse and leisure is the meaning of life, and 2) that work is the meaning of life. And then we'll see 3) how you get the power to transform your view and aim of work. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on November 3, 1991. What does "Joyful Non-Compliance" look like in today's world? In this thought-provoking episode, the hosts explore how faith intersects with politics, justice, and cultural challenges. Diving into Romans 12 and 13, they discuss the biblical posture of joyful, peaceful non-compliance, emphasizing the church's role in society as a force of love, justice, and truth. From the complexities of navigating immigration issues to the tension between idolatry and injustice in government, this conversation unpacks what it means to live out cruciformity—a life shaped by the cross—in a chaotic world. Key insights include the distinction between peacekeeping and peacemaking, the theological implications of governance, and how Christians can embody a faithful, socially engaged presence amidst cultural turmoil. With practical examples and a deep dive into the text, the hosts challenge listeners to embrace a countercultural, Jesus-centered response to injustice and idolatry. This episode began with an honest question from a white evangelical Christian — a former Trump voter who reached out through the Hey Pastor Ben email series. He asked:“Is it really required for Christians to support Israel no matter what they do? Or is there room for us to question — and still be faithful?”That question has shaped the theology of millions, influenced foreign policy, funded war, and been used to claim that God demands allegiance to a government in order to give His blessing. The verse often quoted is Genesis 12:3: “I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you.”But what does that actually mean today — and who does it apply to? In this episode, we walk through 12 of the most urgent questions Christians are asking right now — questions about scripture, Zionism, blessing, ancestry, covenant, empire, prophecy, and what it actually means to follow Jesus when injustice is unfolding in real time.Questions like:— Is the State of Israel a fulfillment of prophecy — or a product of politics?— Who is actually closer to Abraham: those in power, or those being occupied?— Is opposing Zionism the same as opposing Jews?— What does it really mean to “bless Israel”?— And if our faith can't tell the difference between justice and domination — is it still following Christ? This isn't about picking sides. It's about telling the truth. And it ends with a prayer that may offend you — unless you've already begun to see the gospel more clearly. To ask your own question, email me at HeyPastorBen@gmail.com.I'm listening. And I'll tell you the truth.

Pastor Micah Stephens delivers a dynamic message from Acts 9, exploring the transformative power of the Holy Spirit through Saul's dramatic conversion to Paul. From a zealous persecutor of Christians, Saul becomes a chosen vessel for Christ, illustrating God's ability to redeem even the worst enemies. Pastor Micah contrasts Saul's murderous intent with his radical obedience after encountering Jesus, emphasizing that God's grace turns Satan's plans against him. Drawing from personal anecdotes, like his VBS teaching and family lake trip, he encourages believers to embrace their role as vessels for God's purpose, trusting in His transformative power despite seeming impossibilities. Pastor Micah calls for obedience, urging the church to reject fear and persecution, knowing Christ bears their burdens and uses trials for His glory.Verse References: Acts 9 verses 1–22, Acts 8 verses 1–3, Acts 5 verses 34–39, 1 Corinthians 2 verses 7–8, Hebrews 11 verse 8, 2 Corinthians 5 verse 17, 1 Timothy 1 verses 15–16, 2 Timothy 2 verses 20–21, Genesis 50 verse 20, Acts 9 verse 31, Acts 26 verse 14, Judges 14 verse 4Make sure you subscribe to this channel and follow us on all our platforms to always stay up to date with our latest content! And you can always head over to our website for any general information!https://godspeak.comPrayer/NeedsIf you have any needs, or have a willingness to be used to meet various need in the body, please email info@godspeak.com. While many modern Christians are unfamiliar with the story, it was previously considered common knowledge that the death and resurrection of Christ sealed away the powers of the ancient gods. Several historians, such as Plutarch, comment on the fact, while early church fathers claimed it as a victory. In this episode, CCEF faculty Gunner Gundersen, Esther Liu, and Darby Strickland discuss the often painful experience of feeling that God is silent. They explore the emotional turmoil and spiritual distress that accompanies this silence, particularly during prolonged suffering, and how it can lead to feelings of abandonment and doubt. Gunner, Esther, and Darby talk about how Scripture provides a framework for understanding and processing this experience of silence, and they discuss the commonality of this struggle among Christians. Ultimately, we hope this episode encourages you to trust in God's faithfulness, even when his presence feels distant, and to find solace in the stories of others who have endured similar trials. Full Text of ReadingsMonday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time Lectionary: 371The Saint of the day is Saint John FisherSaint John Fisher's Story John Fisher is usually associated with Erasmus, Thomas More, and other Renaissance humanists. His life therefore, did not have the external simplicity found in the lives of some saints. Rather, he was a man of learning, associated with the intellectuals and political leaders of his day. He was interested in the contemporary culture and eventually became chancellor at Cambridge. He had been made a bishop at 35, and one of his interests was raising the standard of preaching in England. Fisher himself was an accomplished preacher and writer. His sermons on the penitential psalms were reprinted seven times before his death. With the coming of Lutheranism, he was drawn into controversy. His eight books against heresy gave him a leading position among European theologians. In 1521, Fisher was asked to study the question of King Henry VIII's marriage to Catherine of Aragon, his brother's widow. He incurred Henry's anger by defending the validity of the king's marriage with Catherine, and later by rejecting Henry's claim to be the supreme head of the Church of England. In an attempt to be rid of him, Henry first had Fisher accused of not reporting all the “revelations” of the nun of Kent, Elizabeth Barton. In feeble health, Fisher was summoned to take the oath to the new Act of Succession. He and Thomas More refused to do so because the Act presumed the legality of Henry's divorce and his claim to be head of the English Church. They were sent to the Tower of London, where Fisher remained 14 months without trial. Finally both men were sentenced to life imprisonment and loss of goods. When the two were called to further interrogations, they remained silent. On the supposition that he was speaking privately as a priest, Fisher was tricked into declaring again that the king was not supreme head of the church in England. The king, further angered that the pope had made John Fisher a cardinal, had him brought to trial on the charge of high treason. He was condemned and executed, his body left to lie all day on the scaffold and his head hung on London Bridge. More was executed two weeks later. John Fisher’s liturgical feast is celebrated on June 22. Reflection Today many questions are raised about Christians' and priests' active involvement in social issues. John Fisher remained faithful to his calling as a priest and bishop. He strongly upheld the teachings of the Church; the very cause of his martyrdom was his loyalty to Rome. He was involved in the cultural enrichment circles as well as in the political struggles of his time. This involvement caused him to question the moral conduct of the leadership of his country. “The Church has the right, indeed the duty, to proclaim justice on the social, national and international level, and to denounce instances of injustice, when the fundamental rights of man and his very salvation demand it” (Justice in the World, 1971 Synod of Bishops). Sanctuary is an ancient idea of a place of refuge or freedom from harm. It has deep roots in the history, literature and myths of many cultures. Marina Warner's new book Sanctuary explores travelling tales and concepts of hospitality and home - suggesting that myths, stories and works of art can be places of sanctuary too. The story of leprosy is a story of isolation and exclusion over thousands of years. In his book, Outcast, Oliver Basciano has written about his journey across the hinterlands of the world to demystify the lives of those who have been ostracised. He argues that the image we still hold onto of medieval leprosy is a nineteenth-century myth invented to justify the gross mistreatment of patients in the name of colonial, religious and economic exploitation. Churches are a spiritual home for some 200 million Christians worldwide, but they often hold a fascination and interest for the most committed atheist. A church is a place of sanctuary, but also a place where the drama of life is played out. Fergus Butler-Gallie is an Anglican priest and his new book Twelve Churches explores the history of Christianity through the places worshippers have built. Today on the podcast we are joined by Rev. Dr. Michael Niebauer as he shares about his recent book, Four Mountains: Encountering God in the Bible from Eden to Zion. How can Christians encounter Jesus on every page of the Bible? What can we learn from how the earliest Christians read Scripture, and connect seemingly disparate stories in the text? What is distinct about this style of reading as opposed, for example, to 6-week Bible studies or academic study? This and more on today's episode!

Dr. Christopher Yuan is an internationally recognized speaker, author, and trusted voice on biblical sexuality. His award-winning book, Holy Sexuality and the Gospel, was named 2020 Resource of the Year for Social Issues by Outreach Magazine. In it, Dr. Yuan offers a powerful and deeply gospel-centered message: our identity is not found in our sexuality but in Christ alone. He calls Christians to embrace holy sexuality—chastity in singleness and faithfulness in marriage—a vision that challenges cultural narratives and points to lasting truth rooted in Scripture. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, Dr. Yuan earned a Master's in Biblical Exegesis and a Doctor of Ministry. He taught Bible for over a decade at Moody, and today his ministry has reached audiences across five continents, equipping churches to engage with grace and truth on issues of sexuality and gender. He is also the creator of The Holy Sexuality Project—a groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind discipleship video series designed to help parents and grandparents lead their teens in understanding, embracing, and celebrating biblical sexuality.Behind this ministry stands the quiet strength of his mother, Angela Yuan, who has walked through unimaginable pain. From a broken but redeemed marriage to years of tearful prayers for her prodigal sons, she clung to the promises of God. Through it all, the Lord poured out grace—teaching her to believe that He can change what seems unchangeable, and leading her into daily renewal and unwavering hope in Christ. Tune in for a powerful testimony!
It gets harder to focus on the reformation we need when it seems like things in the world are too much to digest! We have to remain as honest as possible with what we see, our ability to take action while still taking care of ourselves. It's EXHAUSTING! Christians, in general, have been too willing to compromise our values when it benefits us. Jay visits Matthew 5 to remind us the beatitudes still have a place in how we live. Remember that the message of non-violence, community and empathy is at the heart of Christianity. Keep having the hard conversations and love each other. We can do better.
