Mark Goldbridge, owner and frontman The United Stand and That's Football, joins the podcast to explain how he's building the biggest football content brands on YouTube, and the truth behind the viral clips they spawn.Manchester United-focused The United Stand (19 million views in June) and That's Football (9.85 million views) were the top two YouTube football channels globally for long-form views in June.In conversation with Leaders' Content Director David Cushnan, Goldbridge discusses how he turned a hobby into a business; his thoughts on mainstream football coverage and how it needs to change; the business model and how The United Stand and That's Football are increasingly working with brand partners; and, naturally, his thoughts on the soap opera that is Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Glazers and what he'd do first if he was club CEO Omar Berrada.
#890 | Ed and Dominic discuss Manchester United slow movement in the transfer market, including ongoing negotiations for Bryan Mbeumo. There is a lot of frustration with the club's strategy amongst the fanbase, including the challenge of offloading players like Rashford, Sancho, and Garnacho, and its impact on United's pre-season preparations. The conversation also ponders the tactical adjustments that may be needed if United cannot secure Mbeumo, especially in the midfield, to ensure a strong start to the Premier League season. With pre-season matches against starting this weekend, there's also a conversation about the role of youngsters in the squad. Finally, there's speculation about potential changes in United's goalkeeping department with Andre Onana injured. 00:00 Introduction 01:37 Transfer Frustrations and Negotiations 03:41 Preseason Preparations and Squad Analysis 05:45 Financial Constraints and Transfer Market Challenges 13:12 Player Sales 24:17 Expectations for the Upcoming Season 29:38 Midfield Dynamics 33:17 Youth Prospects and Preseason Opportunities 40:20 Goalkeeper Dilemmas 47:58 Preseason Expectations 51:26 Closing Remarks If you are interested in supporting the show and accessing a weekly exclusive bonus episode, check out our Patreon page or subscribe on Apple Podcasts. This week Jordan & Gaz are joined by former Blackburn, Bolton, Morecambe, Charlton, Burton & Carlisle defender...SAM LAVELLE! Sam sits down with the boys to discuss all things football from coming through the ranks at Blackburn Rovers to currently life as a free agent. The lads start the pod by talking about life as a free agent and what that looks like for footballers, including PFA Pre-Season, interest from clubs and ambition to play as high as possible. Sam then talks about his difficult few seasons at Carlisle as the club suffered back to back relegations from League One to the National League and why the club is far too good to be that low down the pyramid. Gaz then asks Sam which 3 people from football would he invite over for dinner & drinks which then leads to Sam's incredible impression of former Morecambe manager Jim Bentley. They then chat openly about Sam's time at Blackburn & Bolton and the casino gambling culture that was rife at the time and how both Gaz & Sam overcame their struggles. The trio then discuss the return of the infamous football footman, hilarious stories about him and how Sam ended up meeting him in person! Sam then chats about his big move to Charlton, that cup run where they played Brighton and Manchester United followed by a horror loan move to Burton. Finally they end the pod discussing the best players that Sam has played with and what the future holds next for the EFL defender. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

For further details go to https://saily.com/manchester Welcome to the latest Manchester is Red Podcast from the Manchester Evening News! Hosted by George Smith and joined by Steven Railston, this episode covers all the drama and debate from Old Trafford as pre-season ramps up. In this episode: Marcus Rashford's time at United appears to be over. Why has his number 10 shirt gone to Mateus Cunha, and is his exit now inevitable? Is United right to handle it this way or does Rashford deserve more respect? Transfer standstill: Why are deals taking so long? What's the latest with the Bryan Mbeumo saga, and should fans be worried by United's lack of progress compared to City, Chelsea, and Liverpool? Youth policy: United sign French striker Enzo Canabieck (immediately loaned to Lausanne). Is this INEOS's real transfer strategy? Plus: which academy stars could break out in pre-season? We spotlight Shea Lacey, Godwill Kwenkwo, and Jadon Camerson. Recruitment reboot: Is INEOS's new recruitment structure finally modernising United? Will it actually pay off? Fan frustration: Why haven't sales or major incomings happened? What's holding up the Mbeumo deal, and is the squad actually weaker than last season? Pre-season preview: Who's heading to Sweden and the US tour? What are the key dates, and who could impress?
Well, that escalated quickly. Losing Christian Nørgaard to Arsenal certainly felt like the end of an era for Brentford fans – one of the last remaining leaders from the squad that brought us up and kept us steady in the Premier League. Christian wasn't flashy, but he was always reliable. Sure, his legs didn't quite have 90 minutes in them twice a week anymore, but when he played, he made us tick. Defensive intelligence, cool under pressure, one of Thomas Frank's most trusted lieutenants. So when word came on Friday morning that Jordan Henderson was set to replace him – on a free transfer, no less – our first reaction was: Seriously? But then, as the dust settled, the logic is clear. Maybe not the romance. Maybe with the Saudi flip-flopping fresh in our minds. But the logic.Dave 'Laney' Lane and Matt 'The Allard' Allard rocked up to a pub in Marble Hill, with Billy The Bee chipping in from the virtual boozer to chew the fat on all things Bees in what is proving to be another eventful week.As well as saying goodbye and than-you to Christian, we welcome Antoni Milambo from Feyenoord, plus the ongoing Bryan Mbuemo to Manchester United saga.. whilst Forest are supposedly sniffing around Wisa again but can't afford him.Enjoy Hosted on Acast.

Is James Garner Everton's most divisive footballer? Why does a player who clearly possesses much talent divide opinion among Everton's fanbase? The midfielder has established himself as an important player under David Moyes with many strings to his bow, however since joining the Blues back in 2022, the former Manchester United man has yet to display his attacking qualities, having played 84 times, scoring only two goals and notching four assists. Compare that to his loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the Championship in the 2021/22 season, he scored four goals and provided 10 assists, which contributed to the East Midlands club's promotion to the Premier League. While Garner has shown glimpses of what he can offer, he is het to convince many Evertonians he can push on. Everton manager David Moyes will no doubt be hoping for more from him next season. In other news, Everton have moved another step closer to finalising a deal to bring Villarreal forward Thierno Barry to the club. Join Ian Croll and Connor O'Neill as they discuss the latest news coming out of Everton Football Club. We're fully into the summer transfer window madness phase of the year and two of your three favorite Fiorentina podcast idiots are doing their best to hang on. Producer Mike and Tito are back to chop it up (McMike's got some family stuff to attend to, so keep him and his in your thoughts). What is it? Well, that's always a question with lots of answers, isn't it? In this case, the main business at hand is Moise Kean and his €52 million release clause that only exists for another week. We also run through a few more potential additions--Adrián Bernabé, Sebastiano Esposito, Nadir Zortea--and, unfortunately, a couple potential departures in Dodô and Rolando Mandragora. Along the way, we learn about Tito's fun fun game to play with Manchester United fans, Producer Mike's come-get-me plea to Guy Fieri, and even get a complete linguistic meltdown. Thank you to Sport Social Podcast Network for hosting us and to Windchime Weather for the music. As always, we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed making this.
