Los nombres de lugares nos parecen tan familiares porque los hemos conocido y usado desde que tenemos uso de razón, sin embargo, cuando nos paramos a pensar, nos damos cuenta de que a menudo son unos completos extraños para nosotros, de que son palabras incomprensibles que no tienen significado más allá de designar los diferentes espacios que constituyen nuestro mundo. Cada nombre de lugar parece encerrar un secreto arcano, está ligado a nuestro pasado, a nuestros orígenes, a los hombres y mujeres que nos precedieron en esta Tierra que ahora ocupamos. La mayor parte de los topónimos importantes del mundo son antiquísimos, remontándose en ocasiones a épocas prehistóricas. En Europa muchos topónimos son anteriores a la llegada de los pueblos indoeuropeos (V-III milenio a.C.). En España existe un material toponímico abundante que se remonta a la época prerromana, de raíces indoeuropeas o preindoeuropeas, como el ibérico, lengua que desconocemos casi por completo, a pesar de las numerosas inscripciones que se conservan. También son innumerables los nombres que nos legaron otros pueblos que pisaron nuestra península, como son los fenicios, griegos, romanos y árabes, y hoy en día, sin ser conscientes de ello, palpamos a diario la lengua, la cultura y las vivencias cotidianas de todas aquellas gentes. Cuando pronunciamos nombres como Mérida (de Emerita Augusta), Zaragoza (de Caesarea Augusta), Albacete (del árabe al-basit, “el llano”), Guadalajara (wãdī al-hağarã, “río de las piedras”), Gibraltar (ğabal tariq, “monte de Tariq”), Algeciras (al-ğazîra, “la isla”), Cádiz (del fenicio gadir, “fortaleza, muralla”), o Tarragona (del ibérico Tarraco, de significado desconocido), sin darnos cuenta estamos rindiendo homenaje a todas aquellas gentes que vivieron aquí antes que nosotros. Gut, dass es Wikipedia gibt. Da kann man so tun, als hätte man von allem Ahnung. Okay, das ging früher mit dem großen Brockhaus auch, aber das war etwas mühsamer. Heute prahlen ich mal mit Fremdwissen zu der spanischen Stadt Tarragona. Warum, werden Sie gleich merken. Tarragona ist eine Hafenstadt in Katalonien im Nordosten Spaniens. Und die hieß zu Zeiten der römischen Kolonialherrschaft Tarraco. Genau wie ein SUV von Seat. JETZT verstehen Sie, was ich will, oder? Darum geht es diesmal!DAS ist doch mal wieder ein Thema nach meinem Geschmack. Ich liebe es bekanntlich, über Autonamen zu sprechen. Nehmen wir mal den Seat Tarraco. Tarraco ist die katalanische Bezeichnung für das heutige Tarragona – eine Stadt mit moderner Architektur, junger Ausstrahlung und reichem kulturgeschichtlichen Erbe. Der Name Tarraco wurde übrigens durch eine Namensfindungskampagne von mehr als 140.000 Fans der Marke ausgewählt. Wir stellen heute den Seat Tarraco Xcellence 2.0 TSI vor. Power und Drive!    Den Tarraco gibt es mit Benzinmotoren und mit Dieselaggregaten, jeweils mit 110 kW (150 PS) und 140 kW (190 PS). Wir waren mit einem Benziner, dem 2.0 TSI mit 140 kW (190 PS), serienmäßigem Allradantrieb und serienmäßigem 7-Gang-DSG Getriebe unterwegs. Der Tritt aufs Gaspedal beschleunigt den Tarraco in glatten acht Sekunden auf Tempo 100, seinem Vorwärtsdrang wird erst bei 211 km/h Einhalt geboten. Konsumtechnisch geht der Tarraco im kombinierten Verbrauch mit 7,3 Liter Super bleifrei ins Rennen, das entspricht CO2-Emissionen von 166 g/km.   Die Innenausstattung!Den Seat Tarraco gibt es in den Ausstattungslinien Style, Xcellence und FR.  Schon die Basisausstattung Style bringt dabei wichtige Features wie die Geschwindigkeitsregelanlage (GRA), Müdigkeitserkennung und Spurhalteassistent sowie das Umfeldbeobachtungssystem „Front Assist“ mit City-Notbremsfunktion mit. Dazu kommen Komfortelemente wie das Multifunktionslenkrad in Leder, eine Klimaanlage oder auch elektrisch einstell-, anklapp- und beheizbare Außenspiegel mit Beifahrerspiegelabsenkung. Letzteres verhindert häufig beschädigte Felgen beim seitlichen Einparken. Und auch die Einparkhilfe hinten hat ihre Vorzüge. Schon im Style vorhanden sind zudem ein Audiosystem mit 8"-Farb-Touchscreen und Sprachsteuerung, eine Bluetooth-Schnittstelle mit integrierter Freisprechanlage und Audio-Streaming, elektrische Fensterheber vorne und hinten und vieles mehr. Here are some highlights: "We asked 5,000 owners about what it’s like to live with Elon Musk’s electric car. Here’s what we found.The average Model 3 goes for around $50,000, which is more than any of the top 10 vehicles that buyers traded in from other brands, according to responses to Bloomberg’s Model 3 owners survey. No other sedan in America is generating more revenue. While Tesla took the largest number of customers from Toyota, it affects the Japanese automaker very little. That’s because Toyota’s market share in the U.S. is enormous. [However] as a proportion of a brand’s U.S. sales. It shows BMW to be the automaker with the most to lose—almost five times more vulnerable than Mercedes-Benz.  Many said Tesla’s mission to accelerate the adoption of electric cars creates an unusual sense of owner camaraderie. About 55% of respondents said their opinion of Musk influenced their decision to purchase the car. It extends the available battery capacity in some models that otherwise have that capacity locked by the vehicle’s software." reports TheDriven.io: "the software update would allow owners of models that include the Tesla S 60 and 60D, which come installed with a 75kWh battery, but that is limited by software that makes only 60kWh available"   https://thedriven.io/2019/11/13/with-flick-of-switch-tesla-adds-more-battery-capacity-to-help-ev-owners-escape-bush-fires/   SEAT MII ELECTRIC SEAT starts its electric offensive with the introduction of the Mii electric. The new model is SEAT’s first all­-electric production vehicle and lays the groundwork for future members to join the family. More EVs and PHEVs are due in the near future, including the all­electric SEAT el-­Born, plug­-in hybrid versions of the Tarraco and Leon, and high-­performance plug-­in hybrid versions of CUPRA Formentor and CUPRA Leon. The Home Charge option adds a charging cable to charge directly at home using a 2.3 kW system, while Fast brings CCS fast charging capability with a DC charging capacity of 40kW.   The all­-electric city car is the first model to include SEAT CONNECT. The system gives remote access and management of the vehicle, so customers can review driving data, parking position, the vehicle’s status, including doors and lights, manage the charging process via the e-­Manager and the ability to control air­-conditioning remotely – an important technology when you’re faced with extremes in climate – all from a smartphone app.   From electrive: "Seat makes the affordability of the electric model a selling point: Mii costs around the same as a combustion engine car of comparable size and power, only with lower running costs  – and here Seat also refers to the significantly lower maintenance costs of electric vehicles. With regard to equipment, Seat has decided to keep the range simple: With the Mii electric and Mii electric Plus"   EMPLOYERS SHOULD SEE WORKPLACE CHARGING AS MORE THAN A PERK FOR ITS WORKERS "Workplace electric vehicle charging is often seen as an employment perk both by businesses and their (current or prospective) employees, but that strategy could be short-sighted. On-site electric chargers may actually be a boon for business, a report suggests, potentially bringing in customers and attracting a stable, engaged workforce." according to Green Car Reports: "The study, conducted by Wood Mackenzie (a subsidiary of data analytics firm Verisk), says that businesses underestimate the value of on-site electric chargers. Let's take a look at the details, provided by the Moneyball.   Top Chinese EV battery manufacturers by installed capacity (January-October):   CATL - 23.58  GWh (up 65%) BYD - 9.23 GWh (up 12%) Guoxuan - 2.37 GWh (up 43%) Lishen - 1.27 GWh (down 1%) CALB - 1.12 GWh (up 307%) Over ten months of 2019, some 46.38 GWh of batteries were deployed in New Energy Vehicles, which is 38% more than a year ago:   Passenger cars - 33.61 GWh (up 55%) Buses - 9.39 GWh (down 8%) SPV (other) - 3.39 GWh (up 19%)"   https://insideevs.com/news/381619/china-46-gwh-ev-batteries-deployed/   TESLA AUTOPILOT NEARS 2 BILLION MILES DRIVEN, FULL-SELF DRIVING CONTINUES TO IMPROVE "Tesla is yet to issue a formal announcement about its total Autopilot miles to date, though a model by MIT researcher Lex Fridman has predicted that the 2-billion-mile mark will be crossed sometime on November 11, 2019. That being said, Fridman’s model might even be a bit conservative, considering that Tesla’s fleet is growing by the day and more and more vehicles are traveling across the globe on Autopilot thanks to the Model 3 ramp." says Simon at Teslarati: "If Tesla does confirm Autopilot’s 2-billion-mile milestone, it would be a great accomplishment for the electric car maker. After all, it took 4 over four years for Tesla’s fleet of vehicles to reach 1 billion real-world miles on Autopilot. More tomorrow.   DAIMLER, GEELY CREATE 50:50 JOINT VENTURE TO DEVELOP SMART The Daimler-owned Smart brand is something which hasn't been a huge commercial success and yet they've kept investing in it, and more recently, electrifying it. Most famous for making small cars it is being given a new lease of life. "Daimler is willing to give the brand another shot by teaming up with Lotus and Volvo owner Geely to transform Smart into a pure EV brand. Announced today, the deal involving Daimler and Geely represents a 50:50 joint venture in China where a new factory will be built to handle production of zero-emissions models." As no official record exists for the eleven-kilometre mountain road, which is not accessible to public transport, Volkswagen China will run a competition prior to the record attempt, in which participants can set their own virtual time on the Tianmen Shan Big Gate Road. Dumas will then attempt to better the time of the fastest participant under real conditions in September. The Volkswagen ID.
