Famed Australian comedian and social media star Jimmy Rees has made a name for himself across a number of platforms - and he's taking his latest tour on the road. He's set to perform in New Zealand for the first time ever, as well as Hobart, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, and Canberra between October and December 2025. He says there's plenty in his act for people to laugh at on both sides of the Tasman - America, for instance. "I guess it's a bit nerve-wracking, you know? Australia's big, but we also have some very concentrated cities as well. The land mass is enormous." LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Parkinson's is one of the most common neurological conditions for those over the age of 60 - Michael J Fox very famously has early onset Parkinson's, and is now a champion for awareness of the disease. So what is Parkinson's? A degenerative disease of the nervous system causing movement problems. Affects 1:100 over the age of 60. Occasionally it's early onset like with Michael J Fox. Nerve cells in the brain break down, we lose a chemical messenger called dopamine. There's no simple test to diagnose, diagnosis comes from symptoms. How do you recognise it? It's often very slow to develop and initially can be difficult to diagnose. Everyone's journey with Parkinson's is different. It's common to notice tremors at rest, often on one side. You may notice it gets better when moving or doing something – it can fluctuate. Over time: Slow movements become difficult, stiff muscles, loss of balance. Can be associated with depression, anxiety, poor sleep, and lack of motivation. Loss of smell, difficulty with speech, fatigue, cramping muscles. What causes it? We don't know the cause. However, risk factors include age, family history, and it's more common in men. Other factors: Traumatic brain injuries, exposure to toxins, certain pesticides, and some illegal drugs. Can we treat it? It can't be cured and does tend to be progressive. However, there are a range of medications that can help: medication that either replaces dopamine, or stops the breakdown of dopamine in brain can alleviate symptoms. Lifestyle: exercise to improve muscle strength, preventing falls; not rushing, use of walking aids, massage. Occupational therapists to teach how to help with daily activities Support organisations such as Parkinson's New Zealand. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
New Zealand punters will no longer be able to bet with overseas bookmaker under new laws that will come into effect next week. TAB NZ will become the sole legal provider of online sports and racing betting, with a number of politicians saying it could provide a major boost to the nation's betting industry. The law change has made it illegal for offshore operators to accept bets, and have introduced stronger powers to prevent gambling harm. TAB NZ CEO Nick Roberts joined Piney to discuss the changes. Cardrona Alpine Resort has officially launched their highly-anticipated Soho Basin - expanding to become New Zealand's largest commercial ski area. The expansion was part of a long-term investment program by RealNZ, Cardrona's parent company, and it increases the area's total footprint to 615 hectares. Cardrona and Treble Cone Chief Mountain Officer Laura Hedley says as soon as the conditions are right, they'll be opening the area up for skiing. "There's 150 hectares of terrain in there, which is huge. It's new terrain, no one's been in there...we were really conscious when we did the terrain trail development so that we could keep it as natural as possible." This trip was solely undertaken to raise awareness of the rare disease called 'Batten disease'. This is a life-limiting neurodegenerative (a type of dementia) genetic disease, which mostly impacts young children. Join me on my motorcycle travels - some off-road, with many adventures in between.

Where do we worship God? Everywhere! To present our bodies as a living sacrifice is our "reasonable" act of worship, Paul writes. That Greek word denotes something "pertaining to the mind and soul." More than just physical service: we're offering every part of ourselves - spirit, soul and body. And that happens everywhere! One more word that we need to know for today's study, is "publican." That's a tax collector; a man of low status in the first century. During Jacinda Ardern's historic run as Prime Minister of New Zealand from 2017 - 2023, she became a worldwide phenomenon and icon of the Left. From the pandemic to a horrific mass shooting in NZ, Jacinda faced a series of major crises, as well as a media crush that followed her everywhere. But during those tumultuous times, one thing remained unknown: what was it like for the person at the center of these events to experience all that — and, simultaneously, being a new mother as well? In Michelle Walshe and Lindsay Utz's enthralling documentary “Prime Minister,” we now get to hear from the former PM herself. Michelle and Lindsay join Ken on the pod to describe what it was like to embark on this journey of self-reflection with Jacinda Ardern. Relying on a combination of intimate home movie footage shot by Jacinda's husband, news clips and original material, the two directors put us right back in the middle of these events, as well as offer Jacinda's insightful perceptive on what it means to her now and where to go from here. “Prime Minister” is in theatrical release by Magnolia Pictures. China has long criticised the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, or NATO, for drawing Indo-Pacific countries—Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand—into its orbit. From Beijing's perspective, this marks a troubling effort to export Western military influence to Asia and to contain China's rise. Among Chinese observers, the prospect of Japan aligning more closely with NATO has sparked particular concern. A commentary published on Baidu Baijiahao pointed to NATO's evolution from a regional defence bloc into what is now seen as an overstretched force projecting power far beyond the North Atlantic. Japan's increasing proximity to NATO and its willingness to speak on China's internal affairs are cast as foreign interference with potentially destabilising consequences. On the Chinese microblogging site, Weibo, a post framed Japan's engagement with NATO as part of an inflated narrative of China's threat.----more----Read full article here: https://theprint.in/opinion/eye-on-china/japan-nato-not-indo-pacific-ties-china-us/2669010/

Now we come to a verse that most Christians disobey. If we've read and understood the first 11 chapters of Romans, then we see our situation clearly: We've been rescued purely by the goodness of the Father, and the merits of Christ. We certainly don't have any reason to boast. And that should create gratitude in our hearts. And that gratitude should grow into love, and a desire to serve and please God. That would be a Worthy Response. It's another edition of the "Alternatives to a Fave" series! This time: Sauvignon blanc. As an extension of the Grape Mini-series, for this series I come up with lists of wines that lovers of a specific grape can try as alternatives. Sauvignon blanc is not a one note! It has so many different styles -- from the acidic, minerally, citrus and flinty notes of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé to the tropical fruit, peach, grass, green pepper, and sauteed herb aromas in New Zealand and the blends with Semillon in Bordeaux, there are many, many iterations of this very popular grape. Photo: Sauvignon Blanc in South Africa. Credit: Getty Images from Canva After a brief refresh on the Sauvignon blanc grape, in this show I come up with a list of eight wines that are alternatives -- things like Chablis for the more minerally, flinty substitutes for Sancerre, and then fruity alternatives like Vermentino to stand in for Chilean or New Zealand Sauvignon. I hope, as usual, that this show opens some new doors and gives you new ideas of wines to add to your repertoire! Full show notes and all back episodes are on Patreon. In this laugh-out-loud episode of Cyrus Says, Cyrus Broacha sits down with comedians Nivedita and Devanshi for a wildly entertaining and unpredictable conversation. What starts as a casual chat about AMAs quickly spirals into hilarious commentary on bad coffee, South Indian pride, chaotic Indian traffic, and the trials of learning how to drive in Mumbai. The episode is packed with travel tales—from comedy gigs in Melbourne and a solo trip to New Zealand, to unexpected moments of cultural confusion (yes, someone mistakes them for being Chinese). They discuss the unique struggles of being comedians, getting paid in foreign lands, surviving conservative expectations, and how their Indian audiences evolve once they move abroad. It wouldn’t be Cyrus Says without a few absurd games and off-track rants—expect debates over cricketers versus comedians, awkward public encounters, and a Marathi cuss word guessing game that goes nowhere fast. Oh, and somewhere in the chaos, Cyrus also receives a “most entertaining podcast” award—whatever that means. It’s unfiltered, unapologetic, and totally ridiculous—in the best way possible.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"...and so all Israel shall be saved." Here's the point of Paul's three-chapter argument in Romans 9 through 11: Far from being done with the Jewish people, God will draw them to Himself. And they will come the same way everyone else comes - the only Way - through faith in Messiah Jesus. Even Israel's lack of belief now, is part of the exquisite plan of Heaven. This truth has implications for every person and nation on the Earth. Here's Jim in Romans 11.
