- I saw a "Let's talk Rankin County" Facebook group post about 2 women arguing because one of the cut in line in front of the other one in the Pearl Wal-Mart grocery p/u line. This spawned a conversation about how lazy we've gotten, we're literally fighting on the internet about someone cutting the other person off in line instead of getting out of our vehicles to fight in the line where the disrespect happened.

Kelley Earnhardt Miller is back for another session of the Business of Motorsports with longtime sports marketing executive Steve Uline. With the recent announcement that JR Motorsports had secured the rights to the DEI-Styled number 8 and plan to run the iconic Budweiser red paint scheme at the South Carolina 400 in a new partnership with Anheuser-Busch, Kelley wanted to chat with the mastermind and driving force behind the memorable sponsorship campaign. Steve fills listeners in on his journey to becoming a sports marketing director, which involved stints in the service industry before coming on at Anheuser-Busch as a director for Bud Sports TV. He admits that he applied for the position in sports marketing several times before finally getting the job, a process that took eight years. He and Kelley relate on the value of exposure and experience in the workforce and how that prepares you for any situation encountered in professional settings.Steve explains how the Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Anheuser-Busch partnership came to be, which took the place of a longtime deal with Hendrick Motorsports. After the Bud car at Hendrick was underperforming, the company began looking for a new driver to get behind and realized that Dale Jr. was making his way through the NASCAR ranks at a rapid pace. Kelley and Steve talk about how Dale grew into the role as a brand ambassador and how his level of stardom elevated Budweiser back into relevancy in the beer market. Steve shares several hilarious stories from the Bud-8 days and still considers the campaign to be his finest achievement in his sports marketing career.

The great disadvantage of recording shows in advance is that you're always a few weeks behind the actual news. For example, as we recorded this episode, the submersible was just given up for lost. But we'll talk about it anyway, along with: small mousepads; someone did an AI version of Frank Sinatra singing “Get Low”; Mark Tremonti's Sinatra covers; a low level autistic won't remove the werewolf statue from her yard; too many 11-year-olds are still wearing diapers in Switzerland; we figure out how many diaper changes Jeff's kids owe him; a new baby is out; the Uline catalog; turns out, teens weren't trying to light dynamite; feedin' soldiers and bombing brown people; fat guy talk; The Flash; and the shits. In honor of Earth Day, Karen talks with Jacob Reed about raising environmentalists and simple things to do to help save the planet. It can be a scary and overwhelming proposition to think about climate change and the crises we will leave to our children to solve, but inaction is irresponsible and making small simple changes can help us feel more active and be part of the solution. While many of us as individuals thoughtfully work hard to reduce our carbon footprint, Jacob centers the discussion on the primary role and immense impact of big business on damaging our ecosystems and how to use your vote, your voice, and your purchasing power to affect change. I can't wait to see what we cook up. https://www.youtube.com/@LifeDoneFree Weekly Shopping Report from Joe First stop was Dollar Tree. Stock in the frozen food coolers has notably increased; they're probably at least half full, with a decent variety. The drink aisle and coolers also were a lot more full, with good variety. There were more vitamins in the health area too. Home Depot was next. Sonia stayed in the car, so I just ran in and out. A 2x4x8 remains at $3.35. I also picked up a long Diablo reciprocating saw blade for use on some saplings in the yard. Aldi was third. I thought the shelves looked more stuffed than usual; there was plenty of product. We found everything we wanted. Eggs have come down, perhaps to $2.7x? We also found heavy cream, and there were multiple boxes of it. We got a case of their canned cat food, leaving at least two more. Weigel's was last. My usual station is running on a backup pump, and the flow rate is so low that I aborted a fillup on Thursday evening after just five gallons. The other station is running just fine. The price is the same, with a gallon of untainted regular still $3.999. Frugality Tip Home repairs can be overwhelming. Some times you need to "hire a guy". You have to be ok with knowing your limits. I know I can't (yet) do framing and stucco, but I can paint. I saved us $300 by buying a gallon of stucco waterproofing and a gallon of paint. It will take me longer than if I paid a guy, but any time I can shave a few bucks off a project I will. P.S. I watched the stuccoing process, and feel pretty confident that I can do a small project or repair next time. Make it a great week ~Margo Operation Independence Ram for sale versus processing - an update Processing workshop launches in one week Main topic of the Show: Crisis Communications What is crisis communications Why did I think of it? (Dentist) What should you do if you find yourself in a tense situation? (Photoshopped head on a campaign photo, Al Gore) Acknowledge that providing facts as soon as possible is key and communicate that you are gathering facts so that you can explain the situation Do NOT make up answers to anything. Not ever. Not even if you think you know Clarify who is qualified to speak on this matter (Is it you, someone in your organization or family, etc). Ensure everyone KNOWS who to send inquiries to Release the facts to the media, on your communications platforms etc. (Media statement vs press release) Never repeat the accusation - we do not need out of context audio clips of you saying you did something that you did not say Handle interview requests as you usually should, by first researching the media outlet before agreeing to an interview Schedule down time Rely on the facts in every communication and get good at being called a liar, a poopy head, etc Set a communications schedule moving through the crisis and STICK to it Why should this matter to a homesteader? (Pig picture) What about the people who lie all the time? They don't rely on facts Pre-writing crisis content Security Make it a great week! GUYS! Trove is one of a number of companies that work with brands to create white-label resale solutions that let them take back their used clothing, clean it, prepare it for resale, and sell it again as a “pre-loved.” Trove's latest partner is On sportswear in a bold move into athletic shoe resale. Not this year. The pervasive Big Lie narrative that the election was stolen is being used by Secretary of State candidates to rile up the base and to raise money - on both sides of the issue.CNN reports on Secretary of State candidates in 10 states who are, or have previously, espoused that the 2020 election was stolen. Some, like Arizona's Mark Finchem and Massachusetts' Rayla Campbell, are still advocating for reviews of the results, despite no legitimate evidence of irregularities. The Brennan Center for Justice has looked at the fundraising totals in six of those ten states and reports that compared with past elections, money is pouring into Secretary of State races. In Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, and Wisconsin, the fundraising totals have doubled from 2018 levels to $16.3 Million dollars. Among 12 election-denying candidates, Brennan finds that they account for $7.3 million, while candidates who've spoken out supporting the security of elections raised $8.1 million dollars.Stop the Steal donors like former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne and Uline founder Richard Uihlein, are actively contributing to multiple election-denying Secretary of State races, too. Lindsey and Donte start out with a conversation about more pricing details, and how to balance skill, time, and rarity in pricing in your ceramic art…Which evolves into a lively debate about what makes something valuable. There's discussion of social constructs, the lifecycle of fads, when properly valuing work becomes price gouging. Hey there, Cathi Bond and Nora Young meet again virtually with a look at some intriguing retail trends. Cathi got a Uline catalogue delivered in the mail. It's basically a company that will ship you...shipping materials. It's got her wondering if more regular individuals will be developing their own retail side gigs, and whether she should open "Cathi's Shed". Nora talks about Levi's Buy Better Wear Longer campaign, which encourages people to skip the fast fashion and wear jeans for longer. It follows on their move to encourage people to customize and resell their denim (via Fast Company).

Saatejuht on Raimo Poom.

Seekordne saade võtab vaatluse alla muutused autoturul - mõned mudelid on kadumas, kuid palju huvitavat on peale tulemas. Nimelt plaanitakse elektripikapi, millel on väga omapärane katus.
Jeremy Parish talks to WayForward's Matt Bozon about the making of Shantae: Seven Sirens, while Josh Fairhurst and Douglas Bogart mull their latest gaming fixations.

On this week’s episode of Brandstorm, we discuss taking business professionals to the next level. Nathan Bares describes the Executive Programs offered at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) and its goal of making high potential managers within the business community better at what they do. About Nathan Bares Nathan is manager of Executive Programs at the UWM Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business. Prior to joining the University, he served as the workforce development manager at Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin. About UWM Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business The Lubar School of Business has been continuously accredited by AACSB International for close to 45 years. Only 5% of business schools worldwide have earned AACSB Accreditation, which serves as the “gold standard” of business program accreditation. UWM Executive Programs The Lubar School of Business Executive Program is neither continuing education nor an executive MBA. It is a partnership with the business community to help business professionals become better at what they do in their current occupation, so that they can transition from a manager to a director to a vice president. Currently, UWM has two executive programs. Started 17 years ago by the current UWM Chancellor, Mark Mone, the Strategic Leadership Series (SLS) is a leadership development partnership between Lubar Executive Education and some of the region’s most respected companies. The eight-day program spans six months, focusing on developing the leadership skills of these rising managers and exposing them to a rich learning environment with leaders from other businesses and industries. UWM also has a customized executive program that works directly with an organization to develop a curriculum that identifies the core competencies needed to help the company grow, retain more employees, become more productive, or put a succession plan in place. According to Nathan, within family-run companies that have been in business for decades and have extensive industrial experience, about 24 percent of Milwaukee’s workforce population will retire in the next five to 10 years. Hiring to replace and retain that knowledge will be difficult without a succession plan in place. The Cost of Customized Executive Programs UWM invests a lot time and money upfront to develop a customized program for an organization. A partnership is required for UWM to become intimately involved with the business and understand its expectations. The curriculum is not as much about teaching skills in sales, marketing, production, supply chain management, etc., but in improving soft skills like understanding leadership versus management, negotiating, networking and conducting successful presentations. While UWM creates a contract with a company, it does not charge for the program until its completion. Contracts are signed only after both parties agree on the curriculum, how many courses, the length of the program, etc. Prices are not determined on a per-head basis, and having more employees in the program actually brings the cost down. A curriculum with 30 to 35 people, for example, would cost less than participating in the SLS. Measuring Outcomes While measuring those soft skills referred to previously is more difficult, UWM has developed simulations that make it possible for individuals to practice what they are taught. Expectations are set as to how employees will get better, how they can implement what they learn and how behavior can be changed to make the program worthwhile. The SLS is easier to measure. Executives work with cohorts, but set personal goals that they strive to meet. Jobs Training for the Future With unemployment so low and the economy booming, there is a skills gap in many communities, including Milwaukee. Corporations like Foxconn, Uline, Amazon and Generac are bringing in thousands of new jobs. UWM wants to be a partner in developing talent and is working with companies now to determine what skills are needed and at what level. Is more training needed at the university, technical school, high school and even junior high levels to meet the demands of businesses? For Foxconn, UWM is already working on an internship program that will send five individuals over to its headquarters in China for a year to learn and understand Foxconn’s business and culture. Parting Advice Borrowing the words from an executive who attended UWM’s SLS program, Nathan says business professionals who take part in the UWM Executive Programs need to be selfish with their time. Only 50 percent of their education comes from the facilitator standing in front of the room. The other 50 percent comes from interactions the individual has with their co-workers. On this episode, Roqayah and Kumars discuss workplace sabotage as radical praxis with returning guests Bryan Quinby and Brett Payne, fan favorites and hosts of the anarcho-comedy show Street Fight Radio out of Columbus, Ohio. Brett and Bryan share stories of monkeywrenching from their own lives and from their listeners, and Kumars discovers that “salting” is not just what happens to the street after it snows, but also an organizing tactic that involves getting hired at businesses with the aim of unionizing the workforce. The crew breaks down Street Fight’s campaign against the right-wing shipping supplier Uline, as well as a OSS field manual with tips on how to effectively infiltrate enemy institutions. They discuss workplace slowdowns, whistleblowing, Uber, Nathan for You, living your politics and why it’s necessary to see bosses as the enemy. Finally, Brett and Kumars dish about their experiences seeing Lana Del Rey in concert, and arrive at the definitive leftist critique of their mutual celebrity crush. Follow Bryan on Twitter @MurderBryan, Brett @BrettPain, and the official Street Fight account @StreetFightWCRS. A transcript for this episode will be provided upon request. In this episode, Emily and Michelle find out it’s impossible to discuss ULINE without getting into politics. They share their favorite resources for packaging and printing and talk about why branding is so important. Finally, Michelle uses the podcast as accountability and gives them a huge homework assignment.
In this week's episode, Emily fills Michelle in on her shopping experience at latest Renegade Craft Fair here in Chicago (while trying not to be a super judgy person who also runs a show!) - This inevitably leads to a long conversation about other shows, including a lot of behind-the-scenes talk about Show of Hands, admiring (and admonishing) other people's booth displays, and the importance of good signage and packaging. They wrap up by teasing their next episode topic: alternative resources to ULINE!

Do you have questions about selling on Amazon? If you do, you’ve come across the best resource to teach you how to be an Amazon FBA seller in a profitable way that can get you out of the 9 to 5 rat race and into your own business that is legitimate and lasting. This episode is #19 of Scott’s Friday Q&A sessions where he answers your questions so that you can learn how to sell on Amazon profitably. If you’d like to have your own questions answered, you can ask them at http://www.TheAmazingSeller.com/ask Should you set up your Amazon Seller account without LLC or incorporation paperwork? That was one of the questions asked on this episode of The Amazing Seller. While Scott is not an attorney or tax accountant (and suggests you contact one with your questions before you get rolling), he does have an opinion about the question. His view is that you should approach your Amazon sales as a business, and set it up that way from the start. You want the protection and security of the legal entity that LLC or incorporation can provide you. You also want to make sure you’re keeping your taxes separate from your personal income. Again, check with a tax accountant or lawyer for the full picture, and listen in to this episode to hear the other questions and Scott’s answers. How can you estimate your product costs and profits accurately? It’s a very important question because you need to stay on top of your costs so that you know that what you’re doing is truly profitable and not just wishful thinking. Costs include everything from the actual price you pay for your products, to shipping, to customs fees, to Amazon seller fees. How do you keep it all straight? That’s the question one listener asked in this episode and Scott gives his best answer, including some resources you can use to help you estimate things so that you’re not caught off guard. That’s on this episode of The Amazing Seller. Is Bundling products together worth it? It all comes down to cost. Every step you take with your products, from shipping to packaging to branding, is going to add to the cost of your products. There are companies that can receive your products and package them together as you like, but again, it’s an increased cost to you. You can also package those products together yourself, but it will take time and you’ll need specialized packaging with your branding and logos on it. Either way, the cost is more by bundling products. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Bundling can be a powerful way to expand your brand image on Amazon and provide more value to your customers. Listen to this episode to find out how Scott would approach bundling. Are you eager to learn how to be a Private Label Amazon seller and want it in an all-in-one package? If so, you need to get into Scott’s Private Label Classroom. It’s a resource packed with step by step videos, downloadable worksheets, and nuts and bolts descriptions and explanations of how the Amazon sales process works, how you should go about researching and buying products for sale on Amazon, and how you can set those products apart with your own private label and get your business rolling. You’ll go beyond that to learn how to drive traffic to your products and solicit reviews from your customers so that your products can go even higher in the Amazon search rankings. If you’re interested, check it out at www.PrivateLabelClassroom.com OUTLINE OF THIS EPISODE OF THE AMAZING SELLER Welcome to this episode! iTunes reviews from The Amazing Seller listeners - escaping the 9 to 5 rat race! QUESTION 1: How do you go about calculating costs and profits? I don’t want to miss anything. QUESTION 2: Should I set up business checking accounts and LLC documents before I set up my Amazon seller account or can I just get going and change it later? QUESTION 3: I’m considering bundling some products to set myself apart. Is this a good idea? How should I go about it? QUESTION 4: I’ve already applied to sell in a variety of territories and don’t have products for sale yet. Now I’m getting all kinds of paperwork to fill out. What would you do in my situation?
