Cada día, cientos de miles de personas se levantan y van a trabajar a un redil descuidado. Trabajan en un lugar de pastoreo descuidado, desatendido por las mismas personas que son responsables de su salud y bienestar. In this episode of Author to Author, Dr. Cynthia Toolin-Wilson interviews David Clayton on his book The Way of Beauty (May 6, 2024)In The Way of Beauty, David Clayton describes how a true Catholic education is both a program of liturgical catechesis and an inculturation that aims for the supernatural transformation of the person so that he can in turn transfigure the whole culture through the divine beauty of his daily action. There is no human activity, no matter how mundane, that cannot be enhanced by this formation in beauty. Such enhanced activity then resonates in harmony with the common good and, through its beauty, draws all people to the Church--and ultimately to the worship of God in the Sacred Liturgy. The Way of Beauty will be of profound interest not only to artists, architects, and composers, but also to educators, who can apply its principles in home and classroom for the formation and education of children and students of all ages and at all levels--family, homeschooling, high school, college, and university. The Way of Beauty: Liturgy, Education, and Inspiration for Family, School, and College: Clayton, David: 9781621381419: Amazon.com: BooksBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/author-to-author--4129285/support.

Being thrown off balance! The experience of vertigo! This is what comes to mind when considering the writings from the Evergetinos this evening. Once again, the gospel is put before us in an unvarnished fashion. It is as if through the unclouded vision of the fathers suddenly the truth of the gospel appears before us and all of its starkness. We are to love and to become love. It is this reality that must shape and form our interaction with every person we encounter. It suggests a kind of vulnerability where we seemingly leave ourselves exposed to the world around us and its malice. So easily does the Evil One whisper in our ears, “If you give yourself in such a way, you will undoubtedly find yourself impoverished.” “Would God really ask such a thing from you?” Such thinking makes us very calculating about our lives. We are comfortable with boundaries and sometimes the religious boundaries, the walls that we put up around ourselves in the name of God are the highest and thickest of them all. Yet, we always have before us Christ crucified - arms outstretched and hanging naked upon the cross. He is mocked in the same way that our own hearts mock the truth when we shrink away from its demands in horror. To “think” about unconditional love always allows us to remain one step removed. If we keep the faith notional, we do not have to live it. The fathers, however, allow us no such luxury. Nor did they have confidence in their own virtue or rectitude. Humility understands one thing – all is Grace. This will forever compel us to look upon others with the generosity of God and ourselves as the recipients of incalculable and unmerited mercy. --- Text of chat during the group: 00:14:10 FrDavid Abernethy: dabernethy@gmail.com 00:24:14 LauraLeigh: Not sure how to do this in real life. In this episode, I spoke with author Robert Hofler regarding his book "The Way They Were: How Epic Battles and Bruised Egos Brought a Classic Hollywood Love Story to the Screen".It's one of the greatest movie romances of all time. Fifty years on, the chemistry between Barbra Streisand as Jewish working-class firebrand Katie Worosky and Robert Redford as all-American golden boy Hubbell Gardiner remains potent. Yet the friction and controversy surrounding The Way We Were was so enormous, the movie was nearly never made at all. Doug Hess is the host!
This week I sit down with Beebe Bahrami who is an award-winning travel writer and anthropologist. Beebe wrote a beautiful book called "The Way of Goose: Three Pilgrimages Following Geese, Stars, and Hunches on the Camino de Santiago." We discuss her book that is a travel narrative, adventure story, and a spiritual pilgrimage. Beebe opens up about the power of the Camino and its ley lines that she described as "imbued by the human imagination." She shares the transformational power of the Camino--how everyone walking it becomes an explorer and an alchemist. Through her own camino's she found that the goose was very likely an ancient Eurasian earth-centered mother goddess who took many forms but the goose was among her most prominent forms. This ties into goose vision, which Beebe's states "is burning off base influences of the ego to bring up and reveal the luminous, gold of your spirit." To learn more about Beebe head over to website and pick up her book here. You can also pick up her travel companion guidebook "Moon Camino de Santiago--Sacred Sites, Historic Villages, Local Food & Wine" here. People who identify with BPD symptomology are often described as having “no emotional skin.” As human beings, our skin protects us. Without our skin, we'd be much more likely to contract diseases. Our skin is our first line of defense. For people with BPD, this idea of having “no emotional skin” means that we lack a buffer for intense emotions. This leaves us feeling raw and extremely sensitive to everything around us and within us. Something that other people might deem “no big deal” can completely throw us off kilter. It's like we are one big open wound. Everything hurts just that much more. Imagine how much the tiniest bump would hurt you had no skin. For people who identify with BPD, when something that someone else might perceive as “a little sad” happens, we are more likely to slip into what feels to us like all-consuming depression. When we experience what others may feel is a minor inconvenience, we might feel overwhelmed by anxiety-filled terror. A tiny mistake that another person may get over in a matter of minutes, could mean days of cringe-spiraling and self-loathing for the person with BPD.

New York Times bestselling authors Robert O'Neill and Dakota Meyer—an in-depth, fearless, and ultimately redemptive account of what it takes to survive and thrive on battlefields from Afghanistan and Iraq to our daily lives, and how the perils of war help us hold onto our humanity.
Many people who are asked to identify their “true self” (apart from their specific beliefs and behaviors) draw a complete blank. This sense of shame-spiraling after being asked to talk coherently about our sense of identity is even more pronounced for those of us with BPD and CPTSD. Being true to yourself requires that your whole Self be “whole” – or “integrated.” I recently got into a new book, “The Way of Integrity” by Martha Beck, which points out that “integrity is the cure for psychological suffering. Period.” In this episode, we'll dive into how much of what makes our lives miserable (people-pleasing, staying in toxic relationships, self-sabotaging behaviors, and coping styles) is because we are out of touch with what makes us feel whole. In these moments, our defensive emotions and reactive impulses overrule our Higher Selves. In these moments, we are living out of integrity. In this episode, I'll walk you through how to resurrect the Self fully and transform your well-intentioned but misguided and disowned childhood parts into wholeness. Into integrity. It's every content marketer's ambition to create content that hooks their audience and has them coming back for more. Marketers want followers to eagerly await content and consume everything they produce. Not many marketers succeed, and this is particularly true in saturated niches where even the best content doesn't make it to the top of search engine page results. However, a new book by Dutch author Carlijn Postma, guest on today's episode of the Published Author podcast. Carlijn's book, Binge Marketing, recommends that creators of content stop looking at what other content creators are doing, and instead pay attention to the entertainment industry and learn from it. Learn from TV And Movie Showrunners And Writers As the Amazon description for the book details, Binge Marketing takes readers to the place where content is the product and the people who create it know how to attract and retain an audience. Those people, of course, are writers and showrunners in Hollywood. The writers for that TV show you can't get enough of are using a set of tactics that keep you coming back for more. In her Binge Marketing, Carlijn tells content marketers to compare their brand with the scenario of a very good television series and consider every single statement and marketing activity you put out there as an episode of that series. As a true showrunner, you can build on your own loyal and involved audience. A family scenario familiar to many parents was the seed of Carlijn's idea for Binge Marketing. She tells show host Josh Steimle that she's spent plenty of evenings trying to get her daughters to bed after an episode of Netflix show Once Upon a Time. Create Content Audiences Want to Binge On After each episode Carlijn's two girls would never just get up and head off to sleep. “Every episode ends with a cliffhanger. And so they kept on watching and I do the same. And I think every listener who watches TV series does the same thing. You just keep on binging and consuming those episodes, because they never end. She says: “That's when it occurred to me that this is exactly what we should do in marketing. We should look at the creators of films and series; they know exactly how to tell a compelling story and also how to engage an audience, define it, and to retain it.” As a marketer, Carlijn knows that markets have for a long time struggled to get their stories across in the most efficient, but also brand-worthy way, while at the same time building an audience. For Successful Binge Marketing, Don't Let Your Stories End Carlijn points out that with TV shows, the story never really ends. “What we do in marketing is we just write stories that have a start and an end. They all end. But why? Why do we do that? If we want to try to build an audience, why do we stop with our stories? Why don't we just follow the creators of series and just create a series and create episodes and keep on letting people watch? “That's the way you can build an audience. With only one episode that has a start and middle and an end, you won't build an audience. Carlijn actually used her binge technique in her own book, although it took two drafts to get the tactic integrated into her work. Like most published authors, she first focused on getting everything down on paper. The second time around, she was able to edit and include some cliffhangers. And it sounds as though there will be another book, because Carlijn notes that Binge Marketing “ends with no end.” How Authors Can Use Binge Marketing In Their Books Carlijn says that authors who want to incorporate binge marketing into their book should first of all determine exactly what their book is about and be able to summarize it in a paragraph. Understanding where the story is set, who's telling it, and who the audience is. Answering these questions will make it much easier to use binge marketing in your book. On your author platform, Carlijn recommends creating other forms of content that illustrate your expertise and showcase examples of how you use your expertise in your own work. For example, to illustrate her expertise with binge marketing, Carlijn's podcast includes an interview with Dutch film director Martin Koolhoven, The Hollywood Way To Content Marketing (in English). Caroline Crampton was born on the Thames Estuary to parents who had sailed there from South Africa in the early 1980s. Having grown up with seafaring legs and a desire to explore, Caroline is both a knowledgeable guide to the most hidden-away parts of this overlooked and unfashionable part of the country, and a persuasive advocate for its significance, both historically and culturally. As one of the key entrances and exits to England, the estuary has been pivotal to London's economic fortunes and in defining its place in the world. It has also been the entry point for immigrants for generations, yet it has an ambivalent relationship with newcomers, and UKIP's popularity in the area is on the rise. As Caroline navigates the waters of the estuary, she also seeks out its stories: empty warehouses and arsenals; the Thames barrier, which guards the safety of Londoners more precariously than we might; ship wrecks still inhabited by the ghosts of the drowned; vast Victorian pumping stations which continue to carry away the capital's sewage; the river banks, layered with archaeological Anglo-Saxon treasures; literature inspired by its landscape; beacons used for centuries to guide boats through the dark and murky waterways of the estuary; the eerie Maunsell army forts - 24 metre high towers of concrete and steel which were built on concealed sandbanks at the far reaches of the estuary during the Second World War and designed to spot (and shoot) at incoming enemy planes; and the estuary's wildlife and shifting tidal moods. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/pbliving/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pbliving/support

Episode 323: All of us are both masculine and feminine beings. Most of us are primarily masculine or primarily feminine, but it's important that we consciously work on balancing the two in ways that work for us. The feminine oracle is a component of a primarily feminine consciousness and body that is aware of and responds to our environments - our intuition. In this episode, originally aired on the High Vibin' It podcast, Madelyn discusses the feminine oracle, our inner compass, the Heroine's Journey, and so much more. Show Notes: The masculine is the necessary "containers" and structure we create psychologically. The feminine is what's in the "containers." Sometimes we have to consciously ground the feminine or bring softness to the masculine. Expanding your feminine awareness includes looking at when you're telling yourself the same story to "prove it's right." A lot of our responses that we assume are mental/emotional actually do exist in the nervous system. It's important to include the body in spiritual work. A primarily feminine body has a "compass" - the oracle. This is the hyper-aware (but often not consciously expressed) part of us that responds to discord in our environments. This response is all-encompassing, even physical. In the Heroine's Journey there's a rejection of the feminine that has to happen, and some don't come out of it. A practice to ground: place your hand on your chest when you're speaking and feel the vibration of your words - connects the "two nervous systems." Episode 314: Emotional and psychological abuse from our past can manifest in insidious ways throughout our lives, frequently in the form of consciously or unconsciously perpetuating that psychological abuse in our current relationships. In this episodes Madelyn explores how trauma from her upbringing has impacted how she approaches relationships today, whether her own, or through her relationship work that she practices with others. Show Notes: Relationships are Madelyn's "playground." It's important to define relationships through communication. It is not "needy" to have a desire for this identification. A lot of men have lost touch with the communication and check-in type of leadership. You can leverage the feminine to guide into conversations about relationship state or definition. Lead not with the complaint, but with the desire. One of the most dangerous places we get ourselves into is when we say we're okay with something, but then more passively punishing our partners for it. This punishment, such as withholding love, is actually abusive. In October Madelyn's parents had an argument resulting in a quick divorce. Madelyn is still working on how to appropriately share her story about her relationship and experiences with her parents. Madelyn's sense of emotions and love was very distorted growing up. These interactions caused Madelyn's interest in and dedication to relationships. Book: Attached by Amir Levine - https://amzn.to/3hYEBUg Madelyn's attachment style tends to adjust itself depending on the attachment style of her partner. The living situation with the Airstream was mirroring the lack of agency and control from her childhood. Recently Madelyn and her partner have taken steps to restore her sense of sovereignty. You do not need anything outside of you to have sovereignty. Inner Child work is about actually going into your Inner Child trauma, letting it arise, and being there for it. Episode Highlights: Elliott Hulse introduces himself. What is Elliott’s perspective on masculinity and how has it changed? Most boys grow up with either a lack of fatherhood or fathers that have been taught that masculinity is toxic. What are other important things to help boys to become men? Elliott’s brother went through a four-day fast by sitting on a rock. They talk about sexual energy and polarity. You want your partner to want to have sex with you and not feel obligated to have sex with you. How can men cultivate more masculine energy? Saints come from rough lives. What would he do differently in his life? Being a monk, being married, being a father, and creating something amazing to benefit others are ways to best use your energy instead of wasting on selfish self-gratification. ‘Mortify’ yourself by letting weaker parts of yourself die. Men protect and expand. 3 Key Points: Becoming a man is about suffering, sacrifice, tough love, a sense of dignity, and atonement. Men with no mission, dignity, or purpose may be pushed towards using their masculine energy to chase strictly sexual relationships with women, consuming porn, and playing video games. Ways to cultivate more masculine energy include: strength training, challenging yourself physically and mentally, having a life of focus and purpose, and embracing boredom and not needing novelty and excitement. Tweetable Quotes: “I’m a strong man… I’m a father. I’m a father figure, to maybe millions of men worldwide. I’m a strength coach. I owe Strength Camp, and I make men strong again. That’s my mission in life.” - Elliott Hulse “The way boys become men has been completely erased from our society.” - Elliott Hulse “The fact is, that a boy only knows himself as a separate gender if he has something to mirror, something to look at, and someone to introduce him into the way of man.” - Elliott Hulse “The only way a man becomes like his father is by mentorship, by watching, by seeing, by hearing, being in his presence. It is a teaching.” - Elliott Hulse “When she starts denying sex and you start begging. Now you know, polarity is gone, dude. You can’t make her want to have sex with you. You have to actually be someone she wants to have sex with.” - Elliott Hulse (Dangers of Isolation) “That’s when demon obsession can creep in. That’s when the demons can come in, when you are by yourself. ‘Oh, man life sucks.’ All the negative thinking starts to rise to the surface.” - Elliott Hulse Resources Mentioned: GuerrillaZen.com Get Complete Essentials at BSLNutritionshop.com Guerrilla Zen Fitness YouTube: YouTube Elliott Hulse: Linkedin Instagram Twitter YouTube Facebook Elliott Hulse: elliotthulse.co/home1 Strength Camp: strengthcamp.co/map-01 Book: The Way of the Superior Man by David Deida

What would your New Year be like if your resolution was to be open to receiving more love? Would you love a resource to help you do that? In this episode, I share a review of an amazing book that is ALL about connecting with the Great Mother of us all, the source of unconditional love. The book is The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary by Clark Strand and Perdita Finn. They share their own story of experiencing a personal apparition of Mother Mary in Woodstock, NY. He is a former Zen Monk and she is a feminist, not the typical people you would expect to be visited by Mother Mary. Yet their story is so relatable and truly makes Her presence accessible. Takeaways When I wanted to understand the power of this spiritual practice (the rosary) and prayed to be shown, I found the online group, the Way of the Rose, within days. When you pray and ask for help, expect it to show up! Mother Mary’s voice is recognizable. As you read this book, you will get a “feel” for Her voice, which will help you to recognize it when She connects with YOU! Pray as if She is right there with you, sitting next to you. “It is in speaking your truth that you will find your true footing in this world.” Book- The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary Facebook Group: The Way of the Rose https://www.facebook.com/groups/398032263660376/

Change, it is the ever consent in our world. Since forever, the world has been changing. Organizations are no different. Organizations at times need to be steady like an rock and others they need to be adaptive and nimble like a cat. This is where "agile" comes into play. I typically read mindset, business, and personal development books. This book is fiction. The story follows the lead character on his journey of expansion and spiritual awakening. The book’s message is very familiar and similar to other books I’ve read about universal oneness. If you’re a reader of fiction, this book is an easy transition into the kinds of books I’ve reviewed in previous episodes. Questions, comments, requests? Feel free to contact me at ryan@gsdmediagroup.com. I’d love to hear from you.

The Way to the Spring: Life and Death in Palestine (Penguin Press) From an award-winning journalist, a brave and necessary immersion into the everyday struggles of Palestinian life. Over the past three years, American writer Ben Ehrenreich has been traveling to and living in the West Bank, staying with Palestinian families in its largest cities and its smallest villages. Along the way he has written major stories for American outlets, including a remarkable "New York Times Magazine" cover story. Now comes the powerful new work that has always been his ultimate goal, The Way to the Spring. We are familiar with brave journalists who travel to bleak or war-torn places on a mission to listen and understand, to gather the stories of people suffering from extremes of oppression and want: Katherine Boo, Ryszard Kapuciski, Ted Conover, and Philip Gourevitch among them. Palestine is, by any measure, whatever one's politics, one such place. Ruled by the Israeli military, set upon and harassed constantly by Israeli settlers who admit unapologetically to wanting to drive them from the land, forced to negotiate an ever more elaborate and more suffocating series of fences, checkpoints, and barriers that have sundered home from field, home from home, this is a population whose living conditions are unique, and indeed hard to imagine. In a great act of bravery, empathy and understanding, Ben Ehrenreich, by placing us in the footsteps of ordinary Palestinians and telling their story with surpassing literary power and grace, makes it impossible for us to turn away. Praise for The Way to the Spring "Ben Ehrenreich's rendition of the Palestinian experience is powerful, deep and heartbreaking, so much closer to the ground than the Middle East reporting we usually see. I wish there were more writers as brave."--Adam Hochschild "As heart-breaking as it is, The Way to the Spring is also a strangely joyful book, because Ehrenreich grasps the essence of the Palestinian struggle: not Islam, or even nationalism, but the stubborn refusal of injustice, the restless search for how it would feel to be free, as Nina Simone said. The Way to the Spring is more than a work of journalism. It is a freedom song, burning with humanity."--Adam Shatz Ben Ehrenreich is a journalist whose writing has appeared in LA Weekly, the Village Voice, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times Book Review, and many other publications. He lives in Los Angeles.
