Episode Summary My guest for this week's podcast is retired U.S. Army Special Missions Sergeant Major Dan Ibach. SGM Ibach served for 21 years, seven of those at the 75th Ranger Regiment and fourteen at the Tier 1 Unit. During a deployment to Iraq, Dan was severely wounded when his vehicle drove over an Improvised Explosive Device, killing half of his team. A month later, he would wake up from a coma, rejoin the Unit, and continue to deploy into combat. Ibach was assigned to the United Kingdom's 22nd Special Air Service Regiment as a liaison from the Unit. We discussed hostage rescue, tracking Qasem Soleimani, and much more. Am 27. September kann die Luzerner Bevölkerung über die Initiative "Spange Nord stoppen" der SP abstimmen. Die Initiative will, dass sich der Luzerner Stadtrat beim Kanton Luzern gegen die Spange Nord einsetzt. Die Spange Nord ist eine Ergänzung zum Bypass, welcher die Überlastung der Autobahnen in und um Luzern lösen will. Herzstück des Bypass ist ein Autobahntunnel vom Ibach bis zum Grosshof in Kriens. Dazu werden verschiedene Autobahnabschnitte rund um Luzern ausgebaut. Um möglichst viel Verkehr von der Stadt auf die Autobahn umzulagern, war ursprünglich die Spange Nord geplant. Diese hätte einen Ausbau der Strasse vom Autobahnanschluss Lochhof via Friedental bis ins Maihof-Quartier vorgesehen. Im Gegenzug wäre eine durchgehende Busspur von Kriens-Kupferhammer bis zum Luzernerhof möglich geworden.Dazu käme eine Brücke vom Lochhof über die Reuss ins Fluhmühle-Quartier, die sogenannte Reussportbrücke. Nach zahlreichem Widerstand von Stadtbewohner und Stadtregierung gab der Kanton Luzern die Spange Nord in eine externe Überprüfung. Der Schluss: Nicht die Spange Nord, sondern lediglich eine Reussportbrücke wäre die beste Lösung. Beim Kanton Luzern steht deshalb im Moment nur die Version Reussportbrücke zur Debatte. Auch gegen die Reussportbrücke wehren sich die Befürworter der Initiative "Spange Nord stoppen". Mit ähnlichen Argumenten. "Sowohl die Spange Nord als auch die Reussportbrücke wäre fatal für die anliegenden Quartiere", meint Carlo Schmid, Co-Präsident der Jungen Grünen Kanton Luzern. "Die Stadt Luzern profitiert von der Reussportbrücke", sagt hingegen Patrick Zibung, Präsident der Jungen SVP Kanton Luzern. Zudem sei es fragwürdig, über eine Initiative gegen die Spange Nord abzustimmen, obwohl diese nicht mehr zur Debatte steht. Das Resultat der Initiative "Spange Nord stoppen" am 27. As the livestock and poultry industries have become more global in nature, concern over the spread of foreign animal diseases seems to be an ever-present issue. Most recently, the rapid spread of African swine fever throughout Asia presented significant challenges to the international trade of pork and feed ingredients. The group begins their 100th anniversary celebration with their winter policy forum this week in Washington. In this interview Ibach shares the group's hope for increased trade opportunities with the Trans Pacific Partnership trade accord, their concern for pollinator health and for over reach by the EPA with WOTUS regulations.
