Gast: Ralf Schuler Zwölf Jahre war Ralf Schuler Kanzlerkorrespondent der BILD. Er flog im Regierungsflieger mit, beobachtete Merkels Machtspiele aus nächster Nähe — und bekam in all der Zeit kein einziges Merkel-Interview. Weil er nie zur Mannschaft gehörte. Seine Familie betrieb in Ost-Berlin eine private Bäckerei. Als der Staat sie in den 70ern enteignen wollte, weigerten sie sich. Das Verfahren zog sich so lange, bis die Wende kam. Am Ende waren sie die Einzigen, die ihr Grundstück zurückbekamen. Dieses Rückgrat bewahrte er sich auch bei Axel Springer. Auch als ein Gastbeitrag von 120 Biologen erschien, der die Existenz von nur zwei biologischen Geschlechtern vertrat, den Konzernchef Döpfner zurückpfeifen wollte: Schuler stellte sich dagegen — und verlor am Ende seinen Job. Merkel arbeitet intensiv an ihrem Nachruhm; sie sorgt immer noch dafür, dass Kritik unterbleibt, dass die Nachwirkungen ihrer Kanzlerschaft möglichst lange zu spüren sind und dass es so schnell keine Umkehr geben wird. Doch Lengsfeld will nicht, dass Merkel mit ihren Täuschungsmanövern und Rechtsbrüchen durchkommt und ihr Zerstörungswerk weiterhin verschleiert und weitgehend unbekannt bleibt. (Wiederholung vom 23. Richard David Precht und Harald Welzer analysieren in ihrem Buch Die vierte Gewalt, wie Journalismus in Krisenzeiten oft in Gefälligkeitsjournalismus verfällt oder aktivistisch wird. Doch was bedeutet das konkret? Gefälligkeitsjournalismus meint die Tendenz, unangenehme Wahrheiten zu ignorieren, um Konflikte zu vermeiden oder bestimmte Narrative zu bedienen. Aktivismus hingegen beschreibt das Sich-Zu-Eigen-Machen von Themen und Haltungen und dadurch die gesellschaftliche Verantwortung als "4. Gewalt" zu verraten. Die Migrationskrise 2015: Einseitige Berichterstattung und ihre Folgen 2015 prägte der Satz „Wir schaffen das“ die deutsche Medienlandschaft. Die Berichterstattung war zunächst überwiegend positiv und betonte die Willkommenskultur. Doch kritische Stimmen – etwa zu Integrationsproblemen oder finanziellen Belastungen für Kommunen – fanden kaum Gehör. Erst nach der Silvesternacht in Köln kippte die Stimmung. Plötzlich rückte die Debatte um Sicherheit und Integration in den Fokus. Die Medien hatten sich zunächst zu sehr auf die politische Linie von Angela Merkel eingestimmt und die komplexen Realitäten ausgeblendet. Eine wichtige Frage bleibt: Haben Medien hier ihre Kontrollfunktion vernachlässigt? Corona-Pandemie: Wissenschaft, Politik und die Rolle der Medien In der Corona-Krise orientierten sich Medien stark an wissenschaftlichen Empfehlungen – vor allem an Stimmen wie Christian Drosten oder Karl Lauterbach. Doch diese Ausrichtung war nicht immer ausgewogen. Alternative Positionen, etwa von Hendrik Streeck oder Alexander Kekulé, wurden oft marginalisiert oder sogar lächerlich gemacht. Die Ständige Impfkommission STIKO stand plötzlich im Kreuzfeuer der Kritik, obwohl sie eigentlich für ihre evidenzbasierte Arbeit bekannt ist. Hier zeigt sich ein Dilemma: Sollten Medien in einer Krise Einigkeit vermitteln – oder Vielfalt abbilden, selbst wenn das Unsicherheit schafft? Ukrainekrieg: Zwischen öffentlicher Meinung und journalistischer Verantwortung Beim Ukrainekrieg wird den Medien vorgeworfen, zu einseitig zu berichten – diesmal jedoch nicht im Sinne von Gefälligkeit, sondern von Aktivismus. Viele Medien forderten mehr Waffenlieferungen oder härtere Sanktionen, während kritische Stimmen, die etwa eine diplomatische Lösung forderten, kaum Gehör fanden. Precht selbst geriet hier in die Kritik, als er früh eine Kapitulation der Ukraine ins Spiel brachte. Die Frage ist: Dürfen Medien Haltung zeigen und was bedeutet das überhaupt – oder müssen sie neutral bleiben, um den Diskurs offen zu halten? Twitter, Algorithmen und die Blasen der Meinungsbildung Social Media – besonders das ehemalige Twitter – hat die Medienlandschaft stark geprägt. Doch nicht zum Guten. Journalisten nutzten Twitter lange als Recherchetool, doch die Plattform spiegelte nie die gesamte Gesellschaft wider. Stattdessen entstand eine digitale Ethik, in der Aufmerksamkeit über Inhalt siegte. Die Medien haben sich hier oft selbst in die Falle begeben: Sie folgten den Trends, statt sie kritisch zu hinterfragen.
