In this video, Dr.G explores a recent study revealing toxic heavy metals in tampons, including those marketed as organic, and reviews various brands to help you make informed choices for your health. All tested tampons contained heavy metals, raising serious concerns. Focused on brands using organic cotton, avoiding harmful chemicals, and lacking bleaching agents. Notably, Organyc, Cora, and Viv emerged as top choices, being certified and tested for heavy metals. However, some brands, like Nature Care, claim no detectable heavy metals but lack publicly available testing data, and others to approach with caution include RAEL, Honeypot, OB, Playtex, and Toms of Maine, with some brands like August, Daye, and Garnuu missing in action. To minimize exposure to heavy metals, opt for the top-rated brands and seek out those with transparent testing results and certifications. By the early 1950s, Jane Russell (1921–2011) should have been forgotten. Her career was launched on what is arguably the most notorious advertising campaign in cinema history, which invited filmgoers to see Howard Hughes's The Outlaw (1943) and to "tussle with Russell." Throughout the 1940s, she was nicknamed the "motionless picture actress" and had only three films in theaters. With such a slow, inauspicious start, most aspiring actresses would have given up or faded away. Instead, Russell carved out a place for herself in Hollywood and became a memorable and enduring star. Christina Rice offers the first biography of the actress and activist perhaps most well-known for her role in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953). Despite the fact that her movie career was stalled for nearly a decade, Russell's filmography is respectable. She worked with some of Hollywood's most talented directors―including Howard Hawks, Raoul Walsh, Nicholas Ray, and Josef von Sternberg―and held her own alongside costars such as Marilyn Monroe, Robert Mitchum, Clark Gable, Vincent Price, and Bob Hope. She also learned how to fight back against Howard Hughes, her boss for more than thirty-five years, and his marketing campaigns that exploited her physical appearance. Beyond the screen, Rice reveals Russell as a complex and confident woman. She explores the star's years as a spokeswoman for Playtex as well as her deep faith and work as a Christian vocalist. Rice also discusses Russell's leadership and patronage of the WAIF foundation, which for many years served as the fundraising arm of the International Social Service (ISS) agency. WAIF raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, successfully lobbied Congress to change laws, and resulted in the adoption of tens of thousands of orphaned children. For Russell, the work she did to help unite families overshadowed any of her onscreen achievements. On the surface, Jane Russell seemed to live a charmed life, but Rice illuminates her darker moments and her personal struggles, including her empowered reactions to the controversies surrounding her films and her feelings about being portrayed as a sex symbol. Mean...Moody...Magnificent!: Jane Russell and the Marketing of a Hollywood Legend (UP of Kentucky, 2021) offers a fresh perspective on a star whose legacy endures not simply because she forged a notable film career, but also because she effectively used her celebrity to benefit others. Here's two more underwear stories that aren't in the the book I See Lincoln's Underpants (which is now available!) First Benedict Arnold betrays the American Army but gets caught thanks to something hiding in someone's underwear. Also When NASA planned to get someone to the moon, they needed a special Space Suit, and the only designers and makers up to the challenge had only made underwear for Playtex before the marvelous work of technology.
The Apollo 11 moon landing on July 20, 1969, was one of the most incredible achievements in human history up to that point. Despite this feat, some people claimed the “giant leap for mankind” had been faked entirely and that man had never really set foot on the moon. Conspiracy theories that the moon landing was actually a hoax that the U.S. government had staged quickly gained traction and haven't let up since. When beauty and personal care executive Rod Little joined personal care conglomerate Edgewell as CFO in 2018, the company's core businesses of shaving and feminine care were seeing mid-single-digit declines. Competing with giants like Procter & Gamble and DTC disruptors like Billie, the company was in need of a transformation. Rising to CEO in 2019, Little identified the areas that needed to change at the company, which owns household name brands such as Schick, Banana Boat and Playtex. “We had gotten into a rhythm of being too technology-focused, and we had been led by technology, as opposed to being led by the consumer,” he said on this week's episode of the Glossy Beauty Podcast. His turnaround strategy included not only moving the focus to the consumer, but also adopting a startup mentality and embracing new acquisitions in growth categories. While the company's attempted acquisition of Harry's was blocked by the FTC in 2020, the company has made four acquisitions in the past five years: men's grooming brands Bulldog, Jack Black and Cremo, and razor startup Billie. With its new brands driving double-digit growth, Edgewell's shaving and feminine care categories have moved up to “mid-single-digit” growth this year, while its sun-care category is going strong. On this week's episode, Little shares details on the company's acquisition strategy, his thoughts on the FTC decision and ways brands can stay innovative while scaling.

“Infinite compassion”, “Pathological optimism”, “Storytelling”, How fashion, children's books, and augmented reality work together to help future generations learn, develop empathy, and more… I learned so much listening to Jonathan and am thrilled to welcome him to season five of Be The Good with Kate! Jonathan Joseph is the founder of Little Red Fashion, the first fashion education company focused on children K through 12, and author of Little Red Dress, the first augmented reality book about fashion in history. Jonathan wanted to tell the story of how clothes came to be. How fashion as an industry works. How it fits into cultures, history, our day-to-day lives. How to fill in gaps of empathy and understanding that are missed in other educational resources. Just some of the moments I was drawn to: -Jonathan's work to change “systemic issues” in the fashion world -Examples of fashion beyond what many of us often think of: for instance, NASA spacesuits needed specific seamstresses that ended up being found at Playtex due to their skills with tiny ‘seam allowances' and other fashion ‘inventions' -Facing the desire to write a book, and talking about the how of making it reality -Working in your passion without falling prey to workaholic tendencies -What is augmented reality in terms of a children's book? -How ‘fashion is for everyone' -Recognizing strengths in children opens up doors for future opportunities -If something didn't exist before but you see the need and value, you can learn the ropes and make it happen -Present the diversity, don't ‘be preachy', and messages come through -The power in the ‘not so obvious' places for teaching -How Jonathan encompasses principles from Buddhism into his life to find peace and balance Listen to the end for a most simple yet unique and oh-so welcomed answer to my final question. Jennifer's experience in business spans 40 years. At the age of 16 she started working in her father's business - Porter Seal Company. In 1990, Jennifer and her Husband Mike, who had also learned the business from the ground up spun off another company - Hypertech Molding. This company specialized in liquid injection molding with Playtex as one of its customers. After the untimely death of Mike, the company was sold. Soul Expression Tools became an idea in 1997. Consumer goods continue to face supply chain issues. By now, nearly everyone has heard of the baby formula shortages. But another group of products is experiencing a significant shortage and a Time article called it the scarcity “no one's talking about.”This one involves tampons and pads. This shortage is the result of a combination of factors. CNN Business reports there have been supply constraints regarding materials that go into tampons, such as cotton, rayon, pulp and plastic. These products have been going to medical products like personal protection equipment.Even the war in Ukraine plays a role. According to The Observatory of Economic Complexity, in 2020, Russia was the world's top exporter of, which helps to grow cotton, with an export value of $7.6 billion. Then there's the drought in Texas. Drought.gov says 65% of the conditions in the Lone Star State currently qualify as a “severe drought.” According to Texas Farm Bureau, 11.4 million acres of upland cotton were harvested in the U.S. in 2019 and 5.25 million came from Texas. But unlike the toilet paper dearth, a tampon shortage creates a biological demand and women cannot simply wait around for shelves to be restocked. So, naturally, that is being taken advantage of.The Time article mentioned dozens of women on threads and forums who discussed difficulty finding tampons and added that Amazon's prices were higher than usual. Then there's the opinion of Procter & Gamble, the owner of the popular brand Tampax, pointing attention to Amy Schumer. The actress and comedian began appearing in Tampax advertisements in 2020 and according to P&G spokeswoman Cheri McMaster, “retail sales growth has exploded” and demand is up 7.7% since the campaign started. Never mind that a pandemic happened to be escalating around that time or that brands such as Playtex and o.b. from Edgewell Personal Care are also having shortage issues. Thyme Sullivan, the co-founder and CEO of TOP The Organic Project, which makes tampons in Europe, said the gender of people in charge of America and its companies might explain the shortage.Sullivan said, “We need to bring men into the conversation because in many places, they're the decision-makers and this wasn't on their radar.” TOP The Organic Project, founded by women, added there hadn't been any shortages of its products since the beginning of the pandemic.

Deb simplifies an overwhelming content process and infuses possibilities, inspiring positive change, and driving profitable action. In this episode, Chabidaye and Deb Monfette discuss:What is Irresistible Content system and why we need itThe Mindset shift - showing your expertiseAttract, delight, and convert right-fit clientsCreating V.I.P. experiencesKey Takeaways:Instead of going after what you need as a company, think first about what the person you're selling to is all about. Irresistible content is a mindset of not convincing people to buy, since that causes buyer's remorse, but it's about showing them ways that they can change and people want to hear your experience, unique process and strategy all the while building trust that you are the one to guide them. Display your expertise to the right-fit clients instead of convincing them that they need something. Decide on what your vision is for your business and get people to think differently. It's not a game of who creates the most content. VIP experiences are content that tap into client's senses and emotions - Visualize, Interact, Personalize. "There is no "I" in content. But there is in inspire, influence, impact, and income. This means to center your content on your clients and customers and not just on your company. Then you can inspire, influence, and impact them to make decisions they feel good about and in your favor." — Deb Monfette Click this link to receive Deb's free gift, “5 Places to Dig for Stories About Your Company”: irresistiblecontent.com/leadmagnet Connect with Deb Monfette:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deb.monfette/Private Facebook Group Invitation: https://www.facebook.com/groups/irresistiblecontentinfluencersInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/irresistible_content/LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/dmonfette/Website: https://irresistiblecontent.com/Email: Deb@irresistiblecontent.com ]CONNECT WITH CHABIDAYE:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/chabidaye.ramnath.3Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/leadandlift/Website: https://leadandlift.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/chabidayejaglalramnath/ Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine TallaAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. In order to sell effectively, you must first know your target audience. However, for many, determining just who that is can prove to be challenging. The hardest part for most is in narrowing it down to a fairly specific niche. We instinctively want to sell to as many people as possible, meaning our marketing becomes too broad. But if you're selling to everyone, you're selling to no one. How can you finetune your niche? And from there, how can you make the right sales pitch for your ideal client? We spoke with Chala Dincoy, a marketing strategist who's worked with some of the biggest brands. She shares her wisdom on how to niche and pitch.Chala Dincoy is the CEO and Founder of The Repositioning Expert (division of Coachtactics). She's a Marketing Strategist who helps professional service companies change their messaging to attract more decision makers. In her former life, Chala was an award winning marketer at companies such as Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Frito Lay, Diageo, Playtex and BIC Inc for 20 years. Now she's a marketing consultant and the author of Gentle Marketing: A Gentle Way To Attract Loads Of Clients and How To Win Friends the Way Apple Wins Customers. In addition, Chala is a regularly featured expert on major television networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, as well as a popular speaker at International conferences. Our conversation starts with learning about Chala's journey to becoming a marketing strategist and starting The Repositioning Expert. Chala has an impressive background, and after years of working with several household names, she has since authored two consequential books and launched her own organization. She's an expert on selling and zeroing in on the ideal client, making this a particularly informative podcast episode. So, why is finding your niche essential to effective marketing and sales? Chala explains why homing in on your niche isn't just helpful, it's necessary to your success. Your target customer informs the product or service you provide, and understanding that ideal client is paramount to knowing how to reach them. Marketing and sales are most effective when you have a specific niche and truly understand that niche. By now, you can accept the value of niching down in theory. But how does a company discover what their perfect niche is? That can be tricky, especially in the beginning. Chala shares advice on how to determine who you want or are best fit to sell to. This can take some time in researching, talking to your prospects and existing clients, and a bit of trial and error. But with time and attention, you will finetune your target. Okay, you have a niche now. How do you make the right sales pitch for the people in that niche? This comes down to understanding your audience. What do they want, need, or lack? What has worked for them before that no longer gives them results? Where can you find them, and how can you reach them? Chala reveals the secrets to success here. Sometimes, despite your best efforts, you may find that the niche you thought was right for you isn't working out. How can you course correct if your find that your niche isn't working out? Chala offers some tips on how to determine where it went wrong and how to fix the situation. She then shares some final thoughts, tips, and advice about niching and pitching.Support the show (https://p2q.link/donate)

Jennifer's experience in business spans 40 years. At the age of 16 she started working in her father's business - Porter Seal Company. Porter Seal Company was an o-ring distribution company that her father founded in 1949. It was incorporated in 1953 with branches in Hayward, Orange County, Seattle, Grand Prairie and Denver. In the 1970's they started the manufacturing division making large o-rings and custom molded rubber products for various industries such as offshore drilling. Jennifer was given the opportunity to learn the business from the ground up. Starting out in the shipping and receiving department, she worked her way into the position of Corporate Secretary and Controller. It was through this experience that Jennifer gained her knowledge and work ethic. Through the healing of the loss of her husband, she did extensive searching and personal growth work. In the loft of the condominium she was renting at the time it was as if the sky opened up. She just started creating products that would help her in her growth. She also started creating Business products that would help her in organizing her day and her contacts. - http://soulexpressiontools.com******************************************************************To listen to all our XZBN shows, with our compliments go to: https://www.spreaker.com/user/xzoneradiotv*** AND NOW ***The ‘X' Zone TV Channel on SimulTV - www.simultv.comThe ‘X' Chronicles Newspaper - www.xchroniclesnewspaper.com ******************************************************************

In the early scenes of the Hitchcock masterpiece, Psycho, we see star Janet Leigh in a white bra and slip. These images were even featured on movie posters, which was quite scandalous for 1960. However, later in the film, after Marion has unmarried sex, steals thousands of dollars and becomes a fugitive, Hitchcock presents her in a black bra to illustrate she’s now a good girl turned bad. Nothing can tell a woman’s story quite like her underwear. For ages and ages, women’s lingerie has been a subject of great fascination and fetishization. From vintage Sears catalogs to an entire pageant featuring stately models clad in lingerie and angel wings (???), some folks simply can’t get enough of ladies in their unmentionables. For many women, however, bras can also be a subject of great annoyance, shame, and abject disappointment. ESPECIALLY if you’re a “full figured girl” as movie bombshell Jane Russell used to say in Playtex bra commercials from the 70s and 80s. Finding foundations that fit can be challenging for more voluptuous bodies and though, to some it may seem like a high class problem, I assure you it’s much more of a high class pain in the ass. Enter Jenette Bras. As they say on their website… "Most women blessed with a figure like ours are wearing the wrong size bra. Chances are that right now half of your boob is bulging out somewhere or other. I call it Mall Bra Syndrome. It’s a low inventory, low wage, low skill business model that just about works for gals up to a C-cup, if they’re not too picky. If you need a bigger cup you’re likely to be offered a bigger band instead. Seriously? Instead of fitting bras to our bodies, they expect our bodies to fit their limited selection of bras. Well, I come from a long line of women who are big on bosom and short on patience. So, enough already." Jenette Goldstein, a working actress who appeared in numerous blockbuster films and hit TV shows, decided to do something about the difficulties of finding a perfectly-fitted bra for the “full figured gal.” So she opened Jenette Bras, where their slogan is, “The alphabet starts at D.” Since I totally qualify and was in dire need for some new foundations thanks to a 50 pound weight loss, I headed over to their brand new Burbank, CA store where, and I am not kidding, my life changed. How did my life change at a bra shop? Great question, thanks for asking. As you’re about to hear in this episode, it was thanks to a simple photo, snapped at my request, by highly trained bra fitter. For the first time in my life, I finally saw what my body really looked like. And I liked it. In this interview we cover… How Jenette convinced director James Cameron to shoot her and her plentiful rack in a very specific way How bra sizes are completely arbitrary, meaningless and stupid The importance of being professionally fitted for a bra Why spending more for a handmade bra makes a lot of sense When it’s actually okay to get a cheap bra The surprising physical trait shared by Black women and Jewish women I also get very real about my own personal struggles with body issues and trauma. This episode is about a lot more than tits, but, we all know that’s always a great place to start. Sex Ed The Musical is available on iTunes, Stitcher, Podtail, IHeartRadio, Podbay, Spotify and more. Super niching is one of the hottest things right now. Pivotal Moments · Chala's trick is to super niche. · Chala started as an ABM in corporate and then she went on the ladder of moving through to the next manager level. · The reason Chala moved out of corporate was because she always had this dream to be an entrepreneur. · She invested money in coaches to help her with the transition from corporate to entrepreneur. · A lot of things are resolved when you have super niched. Advice: In order to super niche, · Draw a blue sky and write down every single industry of who you can work with or who you have worked with. · Write down their most expensive, costly and persistent pain points. · Score them for relevance in terms of whether it can make you money, whether you have access to the decision maker and whether it is a good fit for you and your skill set and background. · Once you have done that then the top three industries pain points pop out. · We deploy a research a 15 min conversation verifying and validating the assumptions around pain and price point. · Once you have the market data back that validates the pain point a lot of these cases turn into sales in the moment. · You can then take the data and deploy it into a messaging strategy and into a marketing plan. The formula for elevator pitch is: Who you help? What is their pain? How you help them? What results they get? Quote: The shorter time it takes to describe what you do, the more money you make. If you're an Astronaut, the process of getting dressed for work is labor intensive. You might have known the spacesuits Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins, and Neil Armstrong were expensive… but I bet you didn't know the seamstresses who made them came from Playtex. The success of those suits were a matter of life and death. I'd imagine the phrase ‘good enough' was not one that was said that day about their uniform. What if I told you, that the spacesuits these astronauts wore only passed half of their field tests? How do you know if your handmade work is good enough to sell? In this episode, we dig into the limiting beliefs we all have around the worth of our craft. I teach you how to let the market decide, and why.

In Episode 8 of the Being Human is Good For Business Podcast we talk to Gary Cohen, CEO at Qualitor Automotive Inc. Over the course of his 32-year career, Mr. Cohen has held leadership roles at top consumer products and companies, such as Timex, Playtex, Proctor & Gamble and Gillette. In the five years he was Gillette's head of innovation for the Oral-B brand, Gary and his team doubled the size of the business, developed a billion-dollar brand, ideated 30 new products many of which went on to be $100 million product lines, and 15 years later they are still seen on supermarket shelves. The brands were instrumental in the valuation of Gillette when it was sold to Proctor & Gamble.“Without a doubt, building emotional intelligence in our leaders fueled this innovation,” says Gary. “Only by listening generously can you thoroughly understand where someone is coming from so that together you can overcome challenges. Soul Expression Tools - Jennifer's experience in business spans 40 years. Through the healing of the loss of her husband, she did extensive searching and personal growth work. In the loft of the condominium she was renting at the time it was as if the sky opened up. She just started creating products that would help her in her growth. She also started creating Business products that would help her in organizing her day and her contacts. - http://soulexpressiontools.com

In the Venn diagram of life, it’s hard to imagine what spacecraft and women’s underwear might have in common. And that’s probably what NASA engineers thought back in 1962 when they asked a handful of companies to design a spacesuit that would keep a man alive and mobile on the moon. Nobody counted on the International Latex Corporation, whose commercial brand, Playtex, was known for its bras and girdles. But lingerie, and the expert seamstresses who sewed it, played a critical role in those first well-supported steps on the moon.

Space travel is not always high-tech. When the Apollo astronauts landed on the Moon in 1969, seamstresses made their spacesuits at a company famous for stitching latex into Playtex bras. During the Space Shuttle era, a group of 18 women were in charge of all soft goods - the fabrics for machine and hand sewing the spaceplane’s thermal blankets. These women became known as the Sew Sisters. Presenter, artist and former Nasa astronaut Nicole Stott meets some of the sew sisters from past and present missions and celebrates their contributions.

Getting some Help with your Caregiving Episode # 77 In this week’s episode, I talk a little bit about getting help with your caregiving, because after dealing with this disease for 7 almost 8 years now, I’m finding it very difficult to do everything by myself. We have ran on to a lady from our church who is willing to come in and sit with mom and help take care of mom. And Stephanie and I are really thrilled with the way she handles mom. This lady, not only helps mom to the bathroom, she gives mom a bath, dresses mom, and even takes a little bit of toothpaste on one of her fingers with a Playtex glove to brush mamas gums and tongue. She also fixes food and not just for mom, but for whoever’s in the house. We’ve had help in here before through an agency, but that become very expensive. Here in the DC area. They are $20 an hour and up, but they do not take care of mom, the way that this lady from the church does. They command and they would help mom go to the bathroom when necessary, but that was pretty much it. The rest of the time they would sit on their stuff and do nothing. If you had them do anything else. There was an extra charge for it. I think it will be a good thing to have this lady and from the church, not only to help out with mom, but I believe it’ll help me out, not only physically but mentally as well. It’ll give me time to get out of the house and go do something either around the house or actually leave the house to do some things that we been putting off for months, and some of the may even be for a couple of years. Having this lady command may even allow Stephanie and I do have date nights. Where we can go for dinner and a movie once in a while, which is something that we have not had for quite a while. If you’re able to get some help in whether that be someone from your church someone from your neighborhood a sibling or someone on that lines. It’ll be a tremendous help to you. It may even give you back a glimpse of your own life, even if it’s only for a couple of hours. I think that I will be able to get not only the physical break, I need, but I think I will also get a mental break, which may be more important even though I can get out a little bit with Michael and Stephanie here. I know how Michael and Stephanie are, and that leaves me. Still worrying about what’s going on here at house with mom. Having this lady for approximately 2 weeks, Stephanie and I just absolutely love the way she treats mom. I also think that having this lady help with Mama will be a good exercise for Mama, because it gives Mama a chance to get used to someone else dealing with her, besides myself and the family.

Casi todos ellos oriundos de Playtex, una supuesta localidad del norte de Francia. El religioso quiere que reconquisten Tierra Santa para el catolicismo en pleno siglo XXI. ¡Dios bendito!
On this call, the guys talk about the Cavs roster overhaul, what will become of Isiah Thomas and people being bold behind their keyboards. Spacesuits as a beacon of fashion technology, with the author of “Fashioning Apollo”… Nicholas De Monchaux , author of “Fashioning Apollo” and Associate Professor of Architecture and Urban Design and Director of the Berkeley Center for New Media, joins Pavan Bahl, Rob Sanchez and Marc Raco in front of a live audience at WEAR Conference 2017 in San Francisco. Powered by Sennheiser. The inside of a spacesuit, Playtex, and a technological mindset De Monchaux describes how he conceived the book by considering the craziest domestic space imaginable -- the inside of a spacesuit. He then wrote a book about the Apollo program and how the Apollo spacesuits were made by industrial division of the same company who made Playtex bras and girdles. The origins of Playtex, the genesis of the book ten years in the making, why it mattered, historical understanding of where technological mindset come from, designing a suit allowing the human body to operate in such a hostile environment. And insights from research, as an architect. Mars, the many layers of an Apollo spacesuit, and upgrading the human body A discussion of the next frontier for spacesuits, the trip to Mars, how American spacesuits were more practical than originally envisioned, how Russian spacesuits stacked up, dealing with pressure, the many layers of the Apollo spacesuit, radiation concerns, how by understanding technology as a cultural artifact we can understand how to model designs, and need to think about ideas wrapped up in designs and how they affect our work. Innovations that De Monchaux marvels at, high performance fashion, adapting to different circumstances, and how technology has changed how we operate in the world. Our need to upgrade our human systems with technology, how modern technology is taking cues from the body, and augmenting ourselves via a biological view of technology. Star Wars, astronauts, and parsecs “Off the Grid Questions” cover De Monchaux’s earliest memory of fashion made into forts and spaceships, a Star Wars moment and the incorrect use of the word ”Parsec”, quiet and peace, and getting to meet astronauts because they would visit their suits which were a part of them.
