"Based on true events" or "Inspired by true events" is not that uncommon for film, especially the thriller and horror genres. The new film, THE MAN IN THE WHITE VAN, is one of them. Though completely fictional, it is inspired by the real life Florida serial killer Billy Mansfield. From Rottentomatoes: "Inspired by a true story, "The Man in the White Van" delves into the eerie underbelly of a seemingly idyllic 1975 Florida town, and follows the harrowing experience of young Annie Williams, a spirited girl whose carefree existence is turned upside down as she becomes stalked by an ominous man in a white van."The film was directed and co-written by Warren Skeels. The film starts Madison Wolfe, Brec Bassinger, Ali Larter, and Sean Astin. With the help of Ali Larter, Sean Astin, and Giovanni Ribisi (as cinematographer) to independently produce, the movie was picked up by Relativity Media for distribution. It received mixed reviews on release, but is this film truly a hidden gem that everyone must see?

This week we are learning why Ensemble comedies are a terrible idea as well as the top fake search engines in cinema and TV and who on earth is Derek Jeter! It's bloody Movie 43. This episode is for you if you want to hear two men lose faith in Hollywood.---Movie 43 is a 2013 American anthology comedy film co-directed and produced by Peter Farrelly, and written by Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko among others. The film features fourteen different storylines, each one by a different director, including Elizabeth Banks, Steven Brill, Steve Carr, Rusty Cundieff, James Duffy, Griffin Dunne, Patrik Forsberg, James Gunn, Bob Odenkirk, Brett Ratner, Will Graham, and Jonathan van Tulleken. It stars an ensemble cast that is led by Elizabeth Banks, Kristen Bell, Halle Berry, Gerard Butler, Seth MacFarlane, Leslie Bibb, Kate Bosworth, Josh Duhamel, Anna Faris, Richard Gere, Terrence Howard, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Knoxville, Justin Long, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloë Grace Moretz, Chris Pratt, Liev Schreiber, Seann William Scott, Emma Stone, Jason Sudeikis, Uma Thurman, Naomi Watts and Kate Winslet. Julianne Moore, Tony Shalhoub and Anton Yelchin are also featured in cut scenes released on DVD and Blu-ray.The film took almost a decade to get into production as most studios rejected the script, which was eventually picked up by Relativity Media for $6 million. The film was shot over a period of several years, as casting also proved to be a challenge for the producers. Some actors, including George Clooney, declined to take part, while others, such as Richard Gere, attempted to get out of the project.Released on January 25, 2013, Movie 43 was panned by critics, with Richard Roeper calling it "the Citizen Kane of awful", joining others who labeled it as one of the worst films of all time. The film won three awards at the 34th Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture.Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/100things)

Ep16 Positive Cinematic Spotlight - Free Birds

AFS Wolf Den

Welcome back, Wolf Pack, to another Positive Cinematic Spotlight! It's Thanksgiving week and so we are looking at the Relativity Media animated movie from 2013, Free Birds. Free Birds is the story of two turkeys who travel back in time to try and keep turkey off of the first Thanksgiving menu, thus saving turkeys from all following Thanksgiving dinner tables, in theory. The two turkeys are Reggie, voiced by Owen Wilson, and Jake, voiced by Woody Harrelson. Reggie has been an outsider in his farm flock, trying to convince the rest of the flock that they should be trying to escape and they should be eating so much, because the farmer's just fattening them up. Jake, on the other hand, has never been a part of a flock, being a free turkey. He was recruited, as a child, to seek out Reggie so the two of them can go back in time and get turkeys off of the Thanksgiving menu. While it seems the main story is a turkeys versus Pilgrims external conflict, the real struggle is for Jake and Reggie to see past their differences, and for Reggie to find value in a flock rather than trying to be el solo lobo, the lone wolf. After being rejected by his flock for his conspiracy theories, and being selected to be the pardoned turkey, pardoned by the president from being relegated to turkey dinner table, Reggie fixates on a Hispanic soap opera, El Solo Lobo, and the idea of being a lone wolf. But Jake and the 1621 turkeys they work with to save turkeys from the Thanksgiving menu teach Reggie the value of a flock. Similarly, we need to remember the importance of a flock, or, for the AFS, a pack. Working together towards a common goal is how things get done. And the best way to work together is to be accepting of our differences. We all have our own unique experiences and points of view, interests and skills, and drawin gon our variety of strengths, we can achieve success I am thankful for my pack. The Best Ever You Show is proud to welcome actor Chris Kerson to the show. Born in NYC, and raised in the city and Westchester, Chris is a mix of sexy prep schoolboy and inner city grit. He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary with a degree in psychology. While in college he became interested in acting, took an acting class, and discovered a passion and a talent that was highly praised by his teachers. Upon graduation he worked briefly in Investment Banking, and left that lucrative but unfulfilling field to pursue what he feels is his true calling. Both in L.A. and New York, Chris has studied and coached with several excellent teachers, including Charlie Laughton, William Alderson, Marcia Haufrecht, Arian Brandt, and Fred Waggoner. Chris has been a lead in over 14 independent films in the last 4 years, and more than 20 independent shorts and features in his entire career. Many have gone to film festivals such as Cannes, Slamdance, Berlin, Cinequest, and Brooklyn. Most notably, he played the lead character in Sean Kirkpatrick's feature film Cost of a Soul, which on May 20th, 2011 premiered across the country in 50 AMC theaters. AMC and its distributor, Relativity Media, chose Cost of a Soul as the winning independent film of the year in their “I am Rogue” film contest. The characters that Chris plays range from dark and quirky, to romantic, to comedic; and sometimes require him to gain or lose significant amounts of weight, demonstrating his ability to dramatically transform himself physically to portray a character. In addition to his refined acting technique, Chris credits his long time dedication to the martial arts, and spiritual practices, as what centers and grounds him in his acting work. These disciplines enable him to consistently bring forth richly human characters with greater depth and scope.

Along the way Matt Damon and Brad Pitt showed interest, as did director Darren Aronofsky, but all dropped out leaving the producers to scramble.
