Maine, with its picturesque landscapes and charming small towns, has been a source of inspiration for numerous authors throughout history. From Pulitzer Prize-winning novels to chilling horror stories, the state of Maine has served as a rich backdrop for literary exploration. In this blog post, we will delve into five captivating books that take place in Maine, each offering a unique perspective on the state and its people. "Empire Falls" by Richard Russo:Set in the fictional town of Empire Falls, this Pulitzer Prize-winning novel introduces readers to Miles Roby, the manager of a local diner. Through Roby's eyes, we witness the intricacies of small-town life, the complexities of family relationships, and the struggles of the working class. Richard Russo skillfully portrays the charm and idiosyncrasies of Maine's inhabitants while delving into themes of identity, love, and redemption. "The Country of the Pointed Firs" by Sarah Orne Jewett:Regarded as a masterpiece of regional literature, this classic novella is set in a small coastal town in Maine. The story revolves around a woman who spends her summer in the town, immersing herself in its culture and forming connections with the locals. Sarah Orne Jewett's evocative prose captures the essence of Maine's coastal beauty and paints a vivid portrait of the community that inhabits it. "Pet Sematary" by Stephen King:No exploration of Maine literature would be complete without mentioning the master of horror himself, Stephen King. "Pet Sematary" takes readers to a small town in Maine, where a doctor and his family move to start a new life. They soon stumble upon a pet cemetery with a dark secret, leading to a chilling chain of events. Stephen King's ability to blend supernatural elements with human emotions creates a captivating and spine-tingling tale that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. "Olive Kitteridge" by Elizabeth Strout:Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, "Olive Kitteridge" is a collection of interconnected stories set in the fictional town of Crosby, Maine. Elizabeth Strout weaves together the lives of various characters, with Olive Kitteridge, a retired schoolteacher, serving as a central figure. Through these narratives, Strout explores themes of love, loss, and the complexities of human relationships. The book offers a poignant and intimate portrait of small-town life in Maine, highlighting the joys and sorrows that shape its inhabitants. "The Cider House Rules" by John Irving:This thought-provoking novel is set in rural Maine and follows the life of Homer Wells, an orphan who grows up in an orphanage run by Dr. Wilbur Larch. As Homer grapples with his own identity and morality, the book delves into sensitive topics such as abortion and the complexities of family dynamics. John Irving's vivid descriptions of the Maine countryside serve as a backdrop for a compelling exploration of societal norms, personal choices, and the search for one's place in the world. These five books offer a diverse range of narratives set in the enchanting state of Maine. Hello everyone, This is Mirko Guerrini, and I welcome you to the Jazz Transcription Clinic, a monthly interviews podcast where we talk with accomplished jazz doctors about their lives, careers and their personal transcription secrets. On this episode of the Jazz Transcription Clinic Podcast, Mirko Guerrini interviews the guest jazz doctor: Paul Grabowsky. Paul Grabowsky is a pianist, composer, arranger, conductor – and is one of Australia's most distinguished artists. Born in Papua New Guinea, Paul was raised in Melbourne. During the late 70's he became prominent in the music scene in Melbourne, working in various jazz, theatre and cabaret projects. He lived and worked in Europe and the US from 1980-85, during which time he performed with many jazz luminaries including Art Farmer and Johnny Griffin. He returned to Australia in 1986 and established a reputation as one of Australia's leading jazz musicians with such bands as his own trio and sextet, the Wizards of Oz and as musical director for singer Vince Jones. He was musical director of Tonight Live with Steve Vizard (a nationally televised variety show) from 1990-1992. He was Commissioning Editor (Arts and Entertainment) for ABC Television 1995-98. He has written the scores for over twenty feature films in Australia, the UK and US including ‘Innocence' (Paul Cox), ‘Last Orders', ‘The Eye of the Storm', ‘Words and Pictures'(Fred Schepisi) and ‘Shiner' (John Irvin). His television credits include the series ‘Phoenix' and ‘Janus' and the Emmy-winning ‘Empire Falls'. His works for the theatre include four operas and various multimedia works. His most recent opera, created for soprano Emma Matthews, ‘The Space Between', with libretto by Steve Vizard, premiered at Arts Centre Melbourne in September 2018. He is the Founding Artistic Director of the Australian Art Orchestra, which he led from 1994-2013. He has won seven ARIA awards (most recently in 2019 for his recording ‘Tryst' with singer Kate Ceberano)), two Helpmann awards, several APRA and Bell Awards and a Deadly award. He was the Sydney Myer Performing Artist of the Year in 2000, and received the Melbourne Prize for Music in 2007. He was the 2010 Australian National University H.C.Coombs Fellow. He was Artistic Director of the Queensland Music Festival from 2005-2007 and was Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival of Arts for 2010 and 2012. He is currently a Professor at Monash University, and director of the Monash University Academy of Performing Arts and the Monash Art Ensemble. In 2014 he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for services to music and arts administration. In this episode, Paul explains his personal transcribing approach and shows how to profit from every transcription you make. He is also providing many examples of solos that have been significant to his musical growth. Among all the great things that Paul says, my favourites are: 'You won't ever sound like somebody else, because you are not that person', 'MIles can play one note and all of the sudden all the energy conveys there!' 'George Coleman is the Mozart of Hard Bop'. Artists mentioned in this episode: Gary Costello, Lennie Tristano, Bud Powell, Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Billie Holiday, Bud Powell, Fats Navarro, George Coleman, Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau, Keith Jarrett, Wayne Shorter. a.o. You can check Paul Grabowsky here: https://paulgrabowsky.com.au You can check Mirko Guerrini's music here: https://mirkoguerrini.bandcamp.com Mirko Guerrini is a D'Addario artist, playing D'Addario mouthpieces and reeds. Episode 37 of The Blank Canvas Podcast with Fred Schepisi. One of all time great filmmakers. Fred Schepisi steered Meryl Streep to an Oscar nomination for A Cry In The Dark, so too for Stockard Channing in Six Degrees of Separation. Geoffrey Rush. Sir John Gielgud. Ian McLennan. Ray Winston. John Cleese. Jamie Lee Curtis. Kevin Cline. Tim Robbins, and the list goes on. Fred started out in the advertising world in Melbourne, directing both commercials and documentaries. His first feature-length movie was the semi-autobiographical The Devil’s Playground which won 6 AFI awards including Best Film. The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith , in 1978, won a few more AFI awards and was nominated for Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Fred then began working internationally, highlights include; Plenty (again with Meryl Streep), Roxanne (starring Steve Martin & Darryl Hannah) The Russia House (with Sean Connery & Michelle Pfeiffer), Last Orders, Eye of the Storm, and Words & Pictures starring Juliette Binoche & Clive Owen. The HBO movie Empire Falls, starring Paul Newman, Ed Harris, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Robin Wright, won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture made for Television. ABOUT CHANCES ARE . . . From the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Empire Falls comes a new revelation: a riveting story about the abiding yet complex power of friendship. One beautiful September day, three men convene on Martha’s Vineyard, friends ever since meeting in college circa the sixties. They couldn’t have been more different then, or even today–Lincoln’s a commercial real estate broker, Teddy a tiny-press publisher, and Mickey a musician beyond his rockin’ age. But each man holds his own secrets, in addition to the monumental mystery that none of them has ever stopped puzzling over since a Memorial Day weekend right here on the Vineyard in 1971: the disappearance of the woman each of them loved–Jacy Calloway. Now, more than forty years later, as this new weekend unfolds, three lives are displayed in their entirety while the distant past confounds the present like a relentless squall of surprise and discovery. Shot through with Russo’s trademark comedy and humanity, Chances Are . . . also introduces a new level of suspense and menace that will quicken the reader’s heartbeat throughout this absorbing saga of how friendship’s bonds are every bit as constricting and rewarding as those of family or any other community. For both longtime fans and lucky newcomers, Chances Are . . . is a stunning demonstration of a highly acclaimed author deepening and expanding his remarkable achievement. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Richard Russo is the author of eight novels, most recently Everybody’s Fool and That Old Cape Magic; two collections of stories; and the memoir Elsewhere. In 2002 he received the Pulitzer Prize for Empire Falls, which like Nobody’s Fool was adapted to film, in a multiple-award-winning HBO miniseries; in 2016 he was given the Indie Champion Award by the American Booksellers Association; and in 2017 he received France’s Grand Prix de Littérature Américaine. He lives in Portland, Maine. Photo Credit- Elena Seibert --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/steve-richards/support

In this episode, we talk with actor Lou Taylor Pucci. Lou is the son of Linda (Farver) Pucci, a onetime model and former Miss Union County, and guitarist Lou Pucci, formerly of the groups "The Watch" and "Leap of Faith". He never showed any interest in singing or acting as a child till his aunt, Cindy, bribed him to try out for a community theater production of "Oliver" when he was 10; two years later, he was on Broadway in "The Sound Of Music". At 15, he landed a part in a small independent film called Personal Velocity (2002), which won the grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival. This recognition got Lou noticed by his agent, Billy Lazarus of United Talent Agency, and by his manager, Bob Glennon. Since the release of Lou's first feature film lead in Thumbsucker (2005), he has had parts in HBO's Empire Falls (2005), The Chumscrubber (2005) and Fifty Pills (2006) and shot Richard Kelly's Southland Tales (2006), Green Day: Jesus of Suburbia (2005) and rehearsing for Martin Hynes's The Go-Getter (2007) with Zooey Deschanel and Jena Malone. Lou also won the "Jury Prize for acting" at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and Berlin's Silver Bear Award for best actor as "Justin Cobb" in Thumbsucker (2005). www.twitter.com/therealltp https://www.instagram.com/thereal_ltp Please visit us on the socials as we'd love to hear from you! https://www.instagram.com/goguerillafilm www.twitter.com/goguerillafilm goguerillafilm@gmail.com

Is being fortunate an obligation to help others? Host Billy Shore travels to Portland, Maine to chat with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo and pastry chef and restaurant owner Ilma Lopez (Piccolo, Chaval) about the good fortune that has propelled their careers and how they use their talents to create social impact. “Successful people don’t like to talk about how important luck is… Luck does have a large part to do with success,” says Russo. Lopez agrees that being in the right place at the right time helped her career advance, and her habit is to give back when something fortunate happens to her. “The more blessings we have in our lives, the more we have to give. Every time something good happens to us we have to give something out,” she believes. The guests discuss whether social responsibility is more important than ever given our current political climate. Russo and Lopez agree it comes down to using our strengths. “Storytelling is about empathy… and that is an act of moral imagination. I use my time to make myself heard on moral issues,” says Russo. “We talk at the restaurant ‘Is it really meaningful what we’re doing or should we really be doing something else? What if we close the restaurant and go down to the border and try and feed these kids?,’” asks Lopez. However, she concludes that helping neighbors and local charities can ultimately be just as valuable. Share in this thoughtful conversation among people who see social responsibility as a basic human instinct as well as a moral obligation.

Winner of the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for his novel Empire Falls, Richard Russo is acclaimed for capturing the ''foolishness of this lonely world, but also the humor, friendship and love that abide'' (San Francisco Chronicle). His many other novels include Bridge of Sighs, That Old Cape Magic, and Nobody's Fool, which was adapted into a popular film starring Paul Newman. ''Like hopping on the last empty barstool surrounded by old friends'' (Entertainment Weekly), Everybody's Fool catches up with the world-worn protagonist Sully and the irresistible residents of North Bath, New York. Kinek sikerül leiskoláznia a teljes színészgárdát? The cocaine made his throat close. "I was about to die". He wanted to be an actor. He wanted to be creative. He had dreams. And working real-estate for his father wasn't one of them. "I didn't want to come down," he said. "Why'd you do it?" "I really wasn't happy with myself," he said. "I believe it was because I wasn't my authentic self doing what I really wanted to do in my life." "Nepotism got me the job." And it was killing him. He was suffocating. Now Scott Steindorff is the producer of "Empire Falls," "Chef," (one of my all time favorite movies), "The Lincoln Lawyer," "Love in the Time of Cholera," and more. He's worked with Paul Newman, Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr., Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, the list goes on. The other day he called me, a few days after we shot the project, to tell me about brand new projects he was working on  that were different than anything he had done before. He is constantly testing the limits of his creativity. I wanted to know how he became his "authentic self." How did he go from being depressed and self-medicated to a successful and happy movie producer? I wanted to know because I don't think we ever really know. I think part of self-awareness is never quite getting there but always moving (hopefully) in the right direction. And creativity is something that needs to be  constantly reinvented. Once creativity stays the same, it is no longer creative. Scott found a way to constantly be creativity. I want to learn how. "It's not easy at all," he said. "You have to do the leg work." "What's the leg work?" I asked Here's what he said:   Step 1: FIND OUT WHAT YOU'RE CRAVING These are the two types of cravings: a) Depletion: Your body needs something. It can be water, a vitamin or mineral or a change. That's where reinvention comes in. b) Addiction: I felt powerless. I was addicted to money. More was never enough. Then I left Wall Street. Because they were the supplier. Scott wanted euphoria. He craved it. "I grew up wanting to be a skier and an actor and here I was in an office making money," Scott said. "I started craving that feeling of euphoria and excitement and passion for life." So he started doing cocaine. "Nobody knew I had a problem," he said. " I would do it by myself. So when I checked into rehab, it was a shock to my family." The patients had to drink some type of alcohol until they threw up. "By the second day, I said to the doctor, 'This isn't working for me. I'm a cocaine addict not an alcoholic." He thought they'd try something new. He thought they'd help. No. "Well... leave," the doctor said. "There was a shift in my consciousness. I went to my room. I cried uncontrollably for 24 hours. All the stress and pressure left me and from that moment on I haven't used for almost 33 and a half years." "What do you mean the stress left you?" I said. I couldn't imagine. He told me it just left. No explanation. He just saw his own choice. And he took it. I think most people don't know what they really want in life. We talked about adapting. And I said it seems like you have to surrender and be okay with the changes...  even while you're depressed. "Isn't depression a lack of your expression?" he said. I never thought of it that way. Maybe I'm filling one need with sand when I really crave water.   Step 2: ASK QUESTIONS I'm not in a 12-step program, but I want to understand who I am as my authentic self. So I asked what can I do right now? "Ask yourself questions," he said. "How Am I feeling? How do I feel about myself, do I love myself, am I feeling less than? Do I feel guilt?" "But what if you're lying to yourself?" "You can't lie to yourself," he said. "You're just denying the truth. If you're listening to this, it's coming to the surface. Don't push it down."   Step 3: ACT IT OUT It's easy to come up with ideas. It's harder to act on them. I always say, actions are more important...

Don’t push it down.” Step 3: ACT IT OUT It’s easy to come up with ideas. It’s harder to act on them. I always say, actions are more important than words, which are more important than thoughts. It’s not about one skill set. It’s about how you meld them together and act on them. Scott laughed and said, “I have very few skills in life…” I didn’t quite believe him. He had skills to do real estate. To make movies. To be creative. I have skills. But we always compare ourselves to what the “next level” is. And I can’t help it. I do it also. So, again, it’s the direction that counts. And fully engaging in the process.   Scott would surrender. If an opportunity presented itself, and it excited his need for creativity, he would say “yes”. It never hurts to try the next steps in whatever endeavor presents itself. Try it on like you try an outfit to see if you want to wear it for the summer. See if it fits. See if you love it. And if you do, go all in. Scott’s story is not about movies, or addiction, or creativity, it’s about knowing the right direction to take the next step. Step 4: MAKE SMALL CHANGES EVERYDAY Scott quit his dad’s real-estate firm. “Was he supportive?” I asked. They didn’t talk for two years… Scott became a millionaire. He was still in real-estate, though. And unhappy. Then the market crashed. “It crushed me,” he said. Scott changed careers every five years or so. Now he’s 56. And he’s working on a Joan of Arc movie, a new TV series based in the Bahamas, and a script for “Station 11.” Any time he liked a book, he’d try to buy the movie rights. Then he’d try to get the movie made. Sometimes it would work. Sometimes it would be a massive success. But always he tried, starting with the simplest step. The story he told me was a combination of luck, learning skills, building a network, and acting on the intersection of all of the above. But more than anything, it’s being open to surrender. Surrendering to constant reinvention. Reinvention is a habit not an event. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We love talking to authors about their books, but do you know what’s almost more fun? Talking to them about other people's books. This year, at the book festival Wordstock, we rounded up some amazing writers and illustrators on the OPB Pop-Up Stage to ask them: was there a book that changed your life?Richard Russo - 1:24The books of Richard Russo are practically synonymous with small town American life. They tell stories of working-class folks in falling-down mill towns in upstate New York, but they could take place practically anywhere in the U.S. Russo’s 2001 novel, “Empire Falls,” won the Pulitzer prize and was made into a mini-series on HBO. His 1993 novel, “Nobody’s Fool,” was made into a movie starring Paul Newman and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and this year, Russo is back with the a sequel, “Everybody’s Fool.”Russo picked two volumes of short stories by Richard Yates: “Eleven Kinds of Loneliness” and “Liars in Love.” Best known for the novel "Revolutionary Road," Yates wrote about everyday people with small dreams who nonetheless failed to attain them."Looking back on it now, these stories amounted to almost permission to write," said Russo. "It was the fact that, in some ways, Yates's subject matter was so modest, and yet he had turned it into literature of the highest order, something about that spoke to me as a not terribly confident young writer."Nikki McClure - 15:31Nikki McClure's trademark paper art is now iconic in the Northwest. She makes images of children and families engaging in work, experiencing the wild, and making the world better in small ways. She has an illustrator's eye for animal and plant life, and an exquisite touch for the details of a child's face. Her latest book is "Waiting For High Tide." She chats with April Baer about books that deeply resonate with her: "Blueberries for Sal" by Robert McCloskey and the collective works of Tove Jansson.Karen Russell - 25:56Karen Russell’s writing takes your imagination hostage, whisking you into worlds where the children of werewolves get schooled by nuns, vampires pucker their fangs on lemons as a temporary fix, and girls elope with ghosts, only to be left at the alter. Her book “Swamplandia” was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, and she’s a recipient of the MacArthur "Genius" Grant. Her most recent works include the e-book “Sleep Donation: A Novella” and the short story collection “Vampires in the Lemon Grove.”Russell tells Aaron Scott how Carson McCullum's 1940 novel, "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter," electrified her when she was a teenager. "To be able to be so articulate about unspeakable experiences is something that books can do that other forms can’t represent that same way," she says.Jonathan Lethem - 37:44Jonathan Lethem’s novels take us to fabulous places. His writing style interweaves humor, charm, mystery, and stylish prose to create delightful page-turning epics. The recipient of a MacArthur grant and a National Book Critics Circle Award, Lethem also writes great essays and short stories. His latest novel, "A Gambler’s Anatomy," has garnered praise for its mysterious Bond-like hero and it's magical spin on reality.Lethem discusses how "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" was the first book he read where he felt like he could actually hear the voice of the author — a voice full of puns and secret references that inspired his own voices in books like "Motherless Brooklyn."

This week on the Decibel Geek Podcast, the boys, Chris and Aaron take the week off to enjoy some football and turkey for Thanksgiving.  In their place the Hoser Heavy Metal Twins of Wally “Wallygator” Norton and Rich “The Meister” Dillon step in to host the episode. Rich and Wally performed a hostile takeover last Thanksgiving when they hijacked the broadcast, but this year they have been invited back to cover the boys holiday.  Chris and Aaron have delivered funny, entertaining and informative broadcasts each and every week without fail for 111 episodes now….enjoy your well deserved break my friends. Wally kept his song selections to a “Radio Sucks Theme” while Rich went more in the “Fresh Blood” vein to gather the ten songs that they introduce to the audience this week.  First up Wally made an excellent selection from The Killer Dwarfs new release Start @ One, but not before announcing that this week’s “Geek of the Week” was none other than our “Crack-smoking,  among other things” Mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, who admitted that he has listened to The Decibel Geek Podcast albeit in a drunken stupor….stupor….stupor, what a fun word to say!  Wally dedicated "The Sky Is Falling" to the troubled Mayor and Rich  excitedly mentioned the The KiLLeR DWaRfs have now been announced as participating in the Monsters of Rock Cruise 2014. For The Meister’s first selection he went with a band out of St. Catharines Ontario, Step Echo.  Chuckling at the name of their recording studio where they recorded their album which was called “Fecal Noir”….which the Hosers can only deduce means….”black poop:…..c’mon now you just chuckled as well didn’t ya?  "Crazy" was the song taken from their Jagged CD. Keeping on the string of awesome new releases this fall from Canadian bands Wally opted for "Boys Club" off Coney Hatch’s new effort, Four, the band’s first since Friction in 1985.  As they discussed when previously hosting the podcast, at a concert Carl Dixon had left the song lyrics to newly penned song, "Blown Away", taped to a stage monitor and thinking it was a great souvenir of the show, The Meister pro-cured them.  Days later it was discovered that that was the only copy as they had just been written the night before the show and Carl was frantically searching for their whereabouts.  The song appears on the album, so you  know that The Meister returned them promptly. One Bad Son originally from Saskatoon Saskatchewan, but now relocated to Vancouver B.C. provided the next choice for Rich with their song “Gringo” from 2007's Orange City release. The song is not from the latest self-titled OBS release, but an earlier album and is perhaps the heaviest in their repertoire.  Radio stations across Canada are playing OBS tracks from the latest album, so as you see even though radio sucks, sometimes they do have brief shining moments of glory. Afraid that Wally was going to get “weird” Rich was apprehensive of Wally’s next pick.  Last time they hosted the podcast Wally did the absolutely unthinkable and played a ballad!!  While it was a great song from a talented band, Gypsy Rose, Rich was not sure he was in a ballad mood today and warned Wally.  Wally assured him that all would be fine and it was about time to work some KISS into the show as always. He spun Brighton Rock’s absolutely creepy and totally different from the original rendition of "Creatures of The Night" off the double cancer benefit KISS tribute CD A World Without Heroes….and although it was a ballad, now at least, Rich deemed it an acceptable choice. Coming home to Toronto, Meister’s next band is called Twitch that has played a few shows at the becoming famous Rockpile Club.  He chose to feature "Walk" from the Revolution CD, talking about how good this band is live and the covers that they often throw into the set.  Last show they broke into the Four Horsemen’s "Rockin’ Is Ma Business" and you may remember Meister’s story from the Monsters of Rock Cruise last year when he was wearing a Four Horsemen Canada ’94 tour shirt that someone steadily increased their purchase offer on ending at $120 when his wife dragged him away. West Memphis Suicide is a band that has been featured on the podcast in the past, on the last Hoser Takeover episode for one.  Well, West Memphis are no more Wally informed a rather shocked Meister, but no fear they have regrouped with a new bass player and changed their name to A Rebel Few.  Barry the guitarist was incredibly kind enough to forward a brand new, as yet unavailable track to Rich and Wally for airplay on the show.  In perhaps a world premiere the boys heard "Empire Falls". Only discovering this group himself recently, Rich introduced Wally to Ottawa based band Shock.  A band that formed in 1985 and disbanded in 1990, never releasing an album.  Once considered "the best band to never release an album", they lost that moniker when the début, Once Denied came out earlier this year.  One of the best unsigned bands of the time, this release is their first coming almost 30 years after their formation.  Wally enjoyed the "Flaming Towards Earth" track, commenting on it’s Judas Priest like qualities. Wally deemed that he wanted to jump the order of picks here and have Meister make his final selection back to back with the Shock pick, proclaiming that he had a surprise in order for the last song of the week.  Rich chose to feature "Skipping Stones" from J'nai, another Toronto area band that the Decibel Geeks and friends have seen live many, many times.  This band has to be seen, no ifs, ands, or buts about it!  They are a bunch of college age kids who are extremely hard working and exhibit a stage presence like none other.  The guys discuss one of their many well choreographed stage tricks, the guitar toss in which the two guitarists switch their instruments by hurling them towards each other mid song, catching them and continuing to play.  Only once have they seen a fumble.  An upcoming J'nai show, opening for Slaughter on April 4th at The Rockpile West on the day that Meister returns from the Monsters of Rock Cruise is also a great time to celebrate Wally and Rich's birthdays of April 10th.  Wally invited all Toronto area Decibel Geeks to come to the party at the Rockpile. Wally’s last song was not so much of a surprise, but certainly a fitting end to Hoser Heavy Metal #2 as he spun a song from the new Metal On Ice EP.  Metal On Ice started out as a book written by Canadian Guitarist (Helix, Crash Kelly, Nelly Furtado) Sean Kelly about his interviews and playing in a band in Canada.  The album displays the talents of many of the hottest Canadian stars in the metal business in the 80’s including, Russ Dwarf, Nick Walsh, Darby Mills, Daryl Gray, Brian Vollmer, Lee Aaron and more.  The song chosen was "Metal On Ice" written by Nick Walsh, who’s former band, Slik Toxik was a choice on the previous Hoser Hijack and he’s now the frontman for a new band Famous Underground. Thanks for joining these two Hosers and allowing us to play some of our favorite Canadian artists this week.  Chris and Aaron will be back at the helm next time after the turkey sweats wear off….cheers, eh!  BUY MUSIC!
