This week we speak with Taley Hunt, founder and CEO of the Taley Hunt Home Group in Columbia, South Caroline. When Taley first got into real estate three years ago, she knew literally nothing about the business—as she says, she went into it blind. So how did a military wife whose husband got transferred to a different state in the middle of COVID, who had no job, and who discovered she was pregnant the same day she took her license exam end up selling 28 homes as a solo agent in her first year? Join us to find out how she used Facebook groups to build a network of followers and referral agents that produced most of her initial business, the dramatic effect that sharing her personal journey and goals had on her engagement with followers and her referral rate, what she recommends new agents do and that she wishes she had done when she first started as an agent, and how she's helping moms start careers as agents, supporting them in ways she never experienced. When it comes to the 2024 presidential election, everyone is saying that it will all be over after Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Caroline vote. But Boyd makes the case that these states aren't representative of the American electorate and presidential candidates shouldn't give up after the first states decide who they want their candidate to be.

Do individuals have the right to “keep and bear” arms? Do “the people” have any collective rights to public safety? Now that the United States Supreme Court requires each side to argue based on the “history” and “tradition” of 1791 and 1868, what do scholars tell us about legal practices and public understanding in those times? Dr. Laura F. Edwards argues that Americans in the South transformed their understanding of inequality during the half century following the Revolutionary War. Drawing on extensive archival research in North and South Caroline, she outlines the changes in the legal system, highlighting the importance of localized legal practices that favored maintaining the "peace”: a concept intended to protect the social order and its patriarchal hierarchies. Ordinary people, rather than legal professionals and political leaders, were central to its workings. People without rights – even those enslaved – “had influence within the system because of their positions of subordination, not in spite of them.” Edwards documents how, by the 1830s, state leaders secured support for a more centralized system that excluded people who were not specifically granted individual rights, including women, African Americans, and the poor. The People and Their Peace: Legal Culture and the Transformation of Inequality in the Post-Revolutionary South (UNC Press, 2009) concludes that the emphasis on rights affirmed and restructured existing patriarchal inequalities, giving them new life within state law with implications that affected all Americans. This award-winning 2009 book is now central to a new Supreme Court case (United States v. Rahimi) dealing with domestic violence and guns – and has been cited in the legal briefs. Dr. Laura F. Edwards is the Class of 1921 Bicentennial Professor in the History of American Law and Liberty at Princeton University and the award-winning author of four books. Most recently, she wrote Only the Clothes on Her Back: Textiles, Law, and Commerce in the Nineteenth-Century United States published by Oxford in 2022. Learn more about your ad choices. All US Marine Corps aircraft were grounded Monday after a stealth F-35 jet mysteriously disappeared in South Caroline. The stand-down applies to all Marine domestic and international aircraft. The order was issued by General Eric Smith, the acting commandant of the Marines. He said the stand down will ensure the service is maintaining operational standardization of combat-ready aircraft with well-prepared pilots and crews. The question that is on the minds of a lot people, however, is why it took the Pentagon so long to find the missing F-35. Rick Wiles, Doc Burkhart. Season 1: It Takes A Podcast: Conversations on PSB with the Experts Episode 3: Carrie Jenkins and Julia Grimm Jimmy Widdifield Jr. hosts a conversation with Carrie Jenkins and Julia Grimm of the Dee Norton Children's Advocacy Center in Charleston. This conversation focuses on the catalyst for the Dee Norton CAC to address the issue of PSB, the MDT approach to the program that they have developed, the various therapeutic options for children with PSB and their families, the barriers and successes that they have experienced, and how handling these cases is different with this program versus prior to its development. Carrie Jenkins and Julia Grimm of the Dee Norton Children's Advocacy Center in Charleston, South Caroline, developed a program within the CAC focusing on treating not only children who initiate PSB but also the impacted children and their families. The Dee Norton CAC was the first agency outside of Oklahoma to offer all three PSB-CBT programs. Additionally, Jenkins and Grimm are consultants with the National Center on the Sexual Behavior of Youth Training and Technical Assistance Program, providing training on the school-age and adolescent PSB-CBT models. Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with Senator Jim DeMint who shares his insights and thoughts on key issues that impact our fellow Americans. We are reviewing the robust debate in the U.S. House of Representatives whereby Republicans had an open conversation on increasing transparency around how legislation is put together. Through Senator Jim DeMint's leadership at Conservative Partnership Institute, the organization has called for principled measures to engage the broader membership in legislating and bringing accountability back to the People's House. The conversation is also focusing on America's $31 trillion debt-ceiling being maxed out and principled solutions on how to avoid a fiscal crisis through applying prudent and common-sense measures. The discussion on America's Roundtable with Senator Jim DeMint addresses the Ukraine-Russian conflict and what that means for America's security. Questions about accountability on how US taxpayer funds and military assets are being utilized in Ukraine is raised with the importance of advancing America's policy of "peace through strength," rather than engaging in endless wars. Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for a conversation with Senator Jim DeMint, former US Senator and Chairman of Conservative Partnership Institute, a great American patriot and principled leader focusing on the vital issues impacting our nation and the world. The conversation with Senator DeMint will highlight the significance of affirming U.S. Constitutional principles and the urgency to advance pro-growth policies. On America's Roundtable Radio, the timely and relevant discussion will address the Biden administration's policies, America's serious economic problems including skyrocketing inflation now at 8.6% (fastest pace in 41 years), and the high energy costs adversely impacting American families and small businesses. The U.S. economy and the nation's security is dependent on energy; however, government policies and stringent regulations being imposed from Washington, DC, have undermined America's energy independence and placed the nation at great risk. Senator DeMint will present his views on the Federal Reserve's announcement on Wednesday of a 0.75-percentage-point raise of the federal-funds rate, the central bank's largest rate hike since 1994. Senator DeMint will also address the national security crisis and humanitarian crisis at the U.S. southern border. The discussion will place the spotlight on the goals of the Democratic Party's policies which reveal a troubling vision whereby the Department of Homeland Security is set to punish Border Patrol agents while refusing to uphold a rule of law based immigration system and shore up national security at the borders. Update: 50 Illegal immigrants on the terror list were apprehended at the border by Customs and Border Protection in 2022 thus far. This figure is more than the total number caught in the last five years combined. The dangerous activities of transnational organized crime networks at the border include human trafficking and smuggling of drugs such as fentanyl. The New York Times reported, "...deaths from drug overdoses rose again to record-breaking levels in 2021, nearing 108,000, the result of an ever-worsening fentanyl crisis, according to preliminary new data published on Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention." The program will cover Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the brutal warfare resulting in 1,000 casualties per day in the Donbas region, and the significance of affirming America's long-standing policy of peace through strength. Iran is dangerously close to completing its nuclear weapons program. Senator Jim DeMint has fought tirelessly for freedom, prosperity, and traditional American values against the Washington swamp for over two decades. Today, he leads and trains a new generation of conservative warriors as Chairman of the Conservative Partnership Institute. DeMint represented South Carolina in the U.S. House (1999-2005) and U.S. Senate (2005-2013). Known for policy innovation, he authored leading conservative reforms to health care, education, taxes, and entitlements. DeMint garnered national acclaim from conservatives for leading efforts to ban congressional earmarks, the source of billions of dollars of wasteful spending for decades which had led to corruption and widespread abuse. He also successfully led the fight to stop the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill in 2007. DeMint is also the Founder of the Senate Conservatives Fund, which played a major role in the election of many of the Senate's leading conservatives like Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Tom Cotton. Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (2005-2013), chairman, Conservative Partnership Institute in a conversation about the author's new novel "Satan's Dare." https://www.ipgbook.com/satan-s-dare-products-9781735856308.php?page_id=32&pid=FDE We also discuss the challenges Israel faces in the aftermath of the 4,300 rockets fired by Iran-backed terrorist group Hamas targeting civilians in Israeli cities including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and the rise of anti-Semitism. Endorsements of Jim DeMint's "Satan's Dare": “The word “inspiring” is an understatement. Most Americans believe in God, but many people do not believe in Satan as the originator and source of evil. By looking at the way two Christians faced horrible personal tragedy, the author leads readers to consider their own feelings about the role of faith in their lives. The book is written in a way that is easy to comprehend and it’s a real page turner.” —Dr. Ben Carson, former U.S Secretary, Housing and Urban Development "Satan's Dare is different from any other Jim DeMint book, and it very well may be his most important."—Glenn Beck, Blaze Media https://ileaderssummit.org/services/americas-roundtable-radio/ https://ileaderssummit.org/ | https://jerusalemleaderssummit.com/ America's Roundtable on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/americas-roundtable/id1518878472 Twitter: @JimDeMint @ileaderssummit @NatashaSrdoc America's Roundtable is co-hosted by Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy, co-founders of International Leaders Summit and the Jerusalem Leaders Summit. Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for a conversation with Senator Jim DeMint, about streghtening the freedom of speech, ensuring election integrity, the pivotal role of states, and concerns about America's $28 trillion national debt. Senator Jim DeMint is the founder and chairman of The Conservative Partnership Institute in Washington, DC. DeMint represented South Carolina in the U.S. House (1999-2005) and U.S. Senate (2005-2013). Known for policy entrepreneurship, he authored leading conservative reforms to health care, education, taxes, and entitlements. Senator DeMint garnered national acclaim from conservatives for leading efforts to ban congressional earmarks, which had been the source of billions of dollars of wasteful spending for decades and led to corruption and widespread abuse. He also successfully led the fight to stop the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill in 2007. Senator DeMint is the founder of the Senate Conservatives Fund, which played a major role in the election of many of the Senate’s leading conservatives like Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Ron Johnson and Tom Cotton, among others. He is the author of the books Now or Never: Saving America from Economic Collapse (Center Street, 2012); The Great American Awakening: Two Years that Changed America, Washington and Me (B&H, 2011); and Saving Freedom: We Can Stop America’s Slide into Socialism (Fidelis, 2009). While we generally stay away from politics on "Dr. Paul's Family Talk", several of our listeners wrote in to get our take on the results of the South Caroline Debate. What are YOUR thoughts?
Mary Kate was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. She moved to the UK straight out of high school and then a year later to Mombasa, Kenya. From the age 15, she knew she would live in Kenya. There was a clear calling to this nation, but she did not know how she would get there or what all it would entail! She first moved with a team of people from the UK to plant Freedom Church Mombasa. Over the past few years, God has been shaping and growing her in different ways, all while teaching her more about the purpose and calling in her life. Currently, Mary Kate just began a pre-school in Mombasa and has realized it has definitely been one of the hardest things she has ever done, but it has also been a rewarding experience that has displayed God’s faithfulness in every step of the way. In this episode, Jenny and Mary Kate talk about the journey she has been on from South Caroline to Mombasa and how the immense amount of faith and listening to the Lord it took. They also talk about hard seasons and taking it one little step at a time. This episode is full of vulnerability and encouragement, reminding us all that life is not always easy, but we have each other. Take a listen and moxie on! On today’s show I interview my cousin, DaNotta Jackson. She’s a retired United States Marine Corps Company First Sergeant. A Beaufort, South Caroline native, DaNotta’s been sporting her natural for more than 20 years. When I asked her to be a guest on Hair! How I Grew It, she, of course, said yes. I mean, saying no to family, her blood – not really an option. Love you cousin! But, DaNotta didn’t think anyone would care about what she had to say because she’s been natural for a while. I explained why she was wrong. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/HairHowIGrewIt/message
Adam’s a fun guy. He is easy to talk to, has a brain full of great ideas, is a go-getter, and has a great sense of humor. Years ago, when Adam was 19-years old, he briefly fell asleep while driving home from college. He woke up with a severed spine. Since then, he has been paralyzed from the waist down. Four years ago, Adam was given the opportunity to walk again with a ReWalk robotic exoskeleton. This exoskeleton re-enabled him, and ever since, he’s been on a journey to walk one million steps in races across America and raise awareness and funds for his non-profit organization called I Got Legs. In this episode, Adam tells me how I Got Legs is helping others, the races he has taken his exoskeleton (which he named “Betty Carlton”) to, his future goals, and his vision for I Got Legs. By the way, you’re going to love the reason he named his exoskeleton “Betty Carlton.” If you want to donate or support I Got Legs, go to igotlegs.org. I also have a link to that website in my show notes, along with the organization’s Facebook page, and Instagram profile. Adam is based out of Charleston, South Caroline. Everything is on our Arts Calendar on our website along with two new calendars- Gallery and Classes. Check them out. The Radio show airs weekly on Saturday mornings at 9:30 on Smooth Jazz 92.3 FM.

This week Charlie is back and cheeky as ever. It's couples counseling with bourbon this week as Ginny and Charlie sit down with their friends Greg and Cindy to discuss the much shared article “!5 Signs You are in the Right Relationship.” This discussion of love, sex, and the importance of wine takes up most of the episode but they still make time to try Local Choice Bourbon from South Caroline.
