From Pews to Planet: Faith-Based Steps to Better Creation Stewardship   In this episode of the Good Faith Podcast, host Curtis Chang and guest Dr. Katherine Hayhoe—Chief Scientist at The Nature Conservancy and a committed evangelical Christian—explore why Christians and churches should care about climate change as a biblical "love your neighbor" issue rooted in justice for the poor and vulnerable. Hayhoe explains how political polarization and "solution aversion" fuel climate skepticism. She introduces the "Six Americas" framework and offers practical guidance for having hopeful, effective conversations that connect climate action to what people already care about. What happens when an Australian butcher starts reading Leviticus—and finds it fun? In this unique episode, Dru Johnson speaks with Phil Bray, author of Leviticus on the Butcher's Block, about how his day job cutting lambs and steaks helped him see the book of Leviticus in a whole new light. Phil traces his journey from casual Bible reader to Leviticus superfan, exploring how rituals, sacrifice, and atonement make far more sense when you've broken down hundreds of animals by hand. Phil shares how ancient sacrificial rituals weren't necessarily about violent death but about preparing food as a gift to God. The conversation dives into the Hebrew understanding of holiness, clean vs. unclean, and why God's presence is depicted as a space without disease or death. Along the way, Phil and Dru reflect on Mary Douglas, Jewish slaughter laws, the power of smell and memory, and how the altar isn't where the animal dies—but where it becomes holy. Phil's insights bring theology and meat science into one coherent (and hilarious) frame, showing why Leviticus is deeply spiritual, richly embodied, and more relevant than most Christians assume. Share a commentFire tore through Rome and a rumor finished the job. As the city smoldered, Nero's propaganda machine named Christians as arsonists, and what had been scattered suspicion hardened into open hostility. Into that pressure cooker, Peter writes like a seasoned shepherd, urging believers to hold their confession without panic and to choose a defiant, settled joy that makes the world curious. We walk through why the shortest creed, “Jesus Christ,” is both the church's anchor and culture's stumbling block. Peter stakes the claim that Jesus is the anointed Messiah and God the Son, echoing Acts 4:12 and the earliest preaching of the apostles. We contrast the apostles' experience with Paul's sudden encounter on the Damascus Road, unpacking why he often says “Christ Jesus” and how that reinforces the same confession from a different angle. The thread running through it all is grace: not a cushion for comfort but solid ground that cannot be shaken by mockery, loss, or marginalization. To bring the theology to life, we zoom in on Peter himself. He's brave, impulsive, corrected often, and yet restored—exactly the kind of flawed follower grace can turn into a pillar. From the Mount of Transfiguration, where his words drift into nonsense, to Caesarea Philippi, where his insight nails the truth, we see how God shaped him to sign his letter, “Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,” with a steady hand. Along the way we get practical: why the end of casual Christianity can be good news, how joy functions as evangelism, and why a rooted local church is a lifeline for worship, teaching, prayer, and mission when the cost of faith rises. If you're sensing that cultural comfort and Christian conviction no longer fit together, you're not alone—and you're not without a map. In today's episode of Respecting Religion, hear a conversation two years after the attack. Amanda and Holly share their reactions to the report released by the January 6 Select Committee at the end of 2022, including the lack of any mention of Christian nationalism and why that matters. They also discuss the importance of Christian leaders providing an alternative witness in 2023 to the Christian nationalism exhibited during the attack on the Capitol. And, they review how the insurrection still shapes our world and how it – surprisingly – doesn't shape Capitol tours. This program originally aired on January 12, 2023, in season 4 of Respecting Religion.   SHOW NOTES This episode was originally broadcast as episode 10 of season 4 in 2023. When it comes to my own worldview and journey in theology and the Bible, this was a question to settle on an answer for: Did Jesus die for every person who ever lived, or only for the elect? And then there were the follow-up questions: If Jesus died for the everyone, ever, then why weren't their sins paid for? Why do they still go to Hell? And if Jesus died for a "category" of people (and we join that category through deciding to have faith), then can I ever really say that "Jesus died for me?" This is where the heart of the difference lies between Roman Catholics and Reformed Protestants on this issue: the Reformed can say "Jesus Christ loved me and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20). On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, Michael Reagan, the eldest adopted son of President Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman, passed away at age 80 in Los Angeles. He was a man of deep faith who overcame early issues to become an engaging and supportive figure, strongly defending his father, Ronald Reagan, and backing President Trump. He wasn't just the son of a president; he was a strong voice for conservative principles and a defender of the values that made this country great. Also, the military's operation that swiftly removed Nicholas Maduro from Caracas, without injuring any American soldiers, was spectacular. Democrats previously called for Maduro's removal but now criticize the action, raising questions of impeachment of President Trump and war crimes. There's a lack of national unity. In the past both parties would celebrate such an event and praise the president and military, but now Democrats oppose it while their militia protests in U.S. cities. The country is in deep trouble regardless of the president, as constitutional protections for free speech and association are exploited by these groups, now joined by a recurring Hitlerian wing of neo-fascists who celebrate Hitler and Stalin, obsessively trash Jews, evangelical Christians supporting Israel, and the U.S. itself, while promoting Islamism and Sharia law. Later, property rights are fundamental human rights, earned through intellectual and physical labor, reflecting one's limited time on earth to accumulate wealth for family. Slogans like Zohran Mamdani's "warmth of the community" mask an iron fist of centralized government that erodes individual rights and liberties, rejecting Enlightenment and Judeo-Christian values in favor of Islamism and Marxism, which are incompatible with America's founding. The collective dehumanizes individuals and diminishes their creations. Afterward, these ideologies, whether Islamist or Marxist are incompatible with Americanism, posing a survival threat rather than an affordability issue. Marxism has failed everywhere, yet it's not taught in schools, media, or by podcasters. Our generation—parents and grandparents—must reclaim the public square to shield children from brainwashing by these diabolical saboteurs, including the Democrat Party, historically hostile to American beliefs. Description:What if the most faithful thing we could do right now is simply pay attention? In this episode of For the Love, Jen and Amy sit down with theologian, ethics professor, and artist Lee C. Camp for a soulful conversation about the kind of faith that wakes us up to what truly matters. As part of our Wake Up Call series on faith, Lee invites us to slow down and notice the world—our lives, our neighbors, and the beauty that keeps trying to reach us. Together, they explore why paying attention is not a luxury but a spiritual practice—and how our obsession with productivity, planning, and certainty can cause us to miss the most beautiful and formative parts of our lives. Lee reflects on what it means to know ourselves as deeply beloved by God, not because of what we produce but because love is the starting point of a life well lived. This conversation traces the threads of human flourishing and imagination, and asks why beauty—found in art, nature, poetry, and story—often teaches us more about God than arguments ever could. As he often does on his own No Small Endeavor podcast, Lee challenges us to consider what Christians are being called to wake up to in this season: a renewed attention to community, to creation, and to a church that is something we practice together, not merely something we attend. If you're longing for a faith that feels grounded, spacious, and alive—one that helps you live a good life in the world you actually inhabit—this episode is a gentle, necessary wake-up call. Thought-provoking Quotes: “What Christianity most needs right now is to rediscover the basics of the beautiful story which we claim to believe.” – Lee C. Camp The model of the cross means that if we take up our cross and follow Christ, that we can expect difficulty because so much of human history doesn't want that kind of way. Religious powers don't want that. Imperialist powers don't want that. And so we can trust that we're going to have our own kind of crosses to bear along the way. And yet that life has triumphed over death. That love has triumphed over hatred. that beauty and truth and goodness has triumphed over hostility and ugliness and meanness. And so that's the big story.” – Lee C. Camp I deeply understand why a lot of people just can't believe all this [religious] stuff. But for me, it, the story at its best. is so beautiful that I don't know why everybody doesn't want to believe it, even if they can't believe it. It's this place  we embody this narrative, embody this beauty, embody this brokenness in which we try to find tangible ways to do life together.” – Lee C. The new year began with a successful U.S. military operation to capture Venezuela's president. But the mission killed approximately 80 people and is being condemned by some American and international leaders as illegal. Esau McCaulley joins Phil and Skye this week to discuss the fallout from the operation. Was it legal? Was it moral? And what does it reveal about Trump's vision of America? Kaitlyn talks with author Sara Billups about her new book, "Nervous System," and how our age of anxiety is affecting Christians and the whole church. On today's Prison Pulpit, we start and finish with Venezuela, as my Venezuelan teammate writes in with four ways to pray for his country at this time of both joy and uncertainty. But the bulk of today's podcast is a story from my good friend Uncle Bundo about what happened in Thomson Prison on New Year's Day 2025. Let his testimony warm and encourage you to pray for all those believers who are in prison! (Scroll down for more notes...) I'm your China travel guide, Missionary Ben. Follow me on Twitter/X (@chinaadventures) where I present a new Chinese city or county to pray for every single day. Please send any questions or comments to a new, secure email: chinacompass@privacyport.com. Everything else can be found at PrayGiveGo.us! One last thing: I’m now set up on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/c/chinacompass), which now only allows for donations, but also lets me sort podcast episodes into various collections, making it easier to find all the episodes on a certain topic or person, like Tibet, Pastor Wang Yi, or Richard Wurmbrand. (2:43) Venezuela no longer a prison: We have very close friends and teammates from Venezuela, so I understand the situation there better than most, however it dawned on me today that after the liberation of Venezuela from the dictator Maduro, I probably should have been praying for the people (Christians, especially) much more than I have. Their situation these past 10+ years especially has been very much akin to being in a prison cell. Hence, nearly ⅓ (8+ million) “escaped” during that time for survival’s sake. I may have more to say on a future podcast, but for now I want to point out that although we probably haven’t been praying for Venezuela as we ought to have done, I guarantee you that Venezuelan Christians (esp. those who had found freedom abroad) were quote “Remembering those in prison (back in Venezuela) as if they themselves were still bound with them”. In other words, they knew what it was like in that failed socialist state, and could pray as the author of Hebrews intended; not vague, faraway prayers, but knowledgeable, precise prayers as those who understood suffering and all that was at stake. For all those who prayed in such a way, whether Venezuelan refugees, concerned Christians around the world, or the Venezuelan people themselves, how awesome it is to see God so clearly answer prayer! (Note: with the current power vacuum there, we ought to continue to pray God would raise up humble, godly leadership during this dangerous transition time.) (7:26) Uncle Bundo’s New Year’s Prison Preaching Plan: In the summer of 2024, I interviewed a few of my friends who were being sentenced by the Biden DOJ for their participation in a peaceful prayer vigil while blocking the entrance to a (now shuttered) abortion clinic in Nashville back in 2021. Uncle Bundo was given 6 months in Federal Prison, which he served in rural Illinois. I share this by way of introduction, because I want to read you a story, a testimony, that Uncle Bundo shared on his Facebook page on New Year’s Day about what happened on LAST YEAR’S New Year’s Day. Is trauma-informed counseling biblical—or is it undermining the sufficiency of Scripture? In this episode of Remnant Radio, we take a careful, biblical look at trauma-informed care, responding to recent critiques from pastors, biblical counselors, and theologians who argue that trauma-informed counseling is harming the church. Some claim that if Christians would simply repent, trust Jesus, and obey Scripture, trauma-informed approaches would be unnecessary—or even dangerous. So how should Christians think about trauma, trauma-informed counseling, and trauma-informed therapy? In Part One of this two-part discussion, we begin by defining trauma and trauma-informed care, ensuring we are speaking clearly and accurately. We then distinguish between trauma-informed pastoral counseling and trauma-informed therapy, including approaches such as EMDR, somatic experiencing, internal family systems, and polyvagal-informed therapy. We examine whether trauma-informed counseling is supported by Scripture by turning to the Book of Job, one of the Bible's most extensive treatments of suffering, trauma, and pastoral response. Job's condemnation of his friends as “miserable comforters” provides a sobering warning against theologically misinformed counsel that intensifies suffering rather than alleviating it.This episode also addresses key theological concerns, including:-The sufficiency of Scripture for salvation and sanctification-The doctrine of common grace and its relationship to medicine, psychology, and therapy-Whether trauma-informed care excuses sin or undermines repentance-How physiological trauma responses differ from sinful anxiety-Whether modern psychology should ever be subordinate to biblical authorityPart Two will move into practical application, offering a biblical framework for trauma-informed care that upholds Scripture, guards against theological compromise, and equips pastors, counselors, and Christians to care well for those who have suffered trauma. Sandra Teplinsky is an American-Israeli Messianic Jew, former attorney, and author based in Jerusalem. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Sandra experienced antisemitism early in life—an upbringing that shaped both her faith journey and her long-term focus on helping the church understand Israel through a biblical lens. Through decades of study and ministry, she has written and updated Why Still Care About Israel to address common theological misconceptions, church-history blind spots, and the interpretive frameworks that still shape how many Christians think about Israel today. In this episode of The Wow Factor, Brad sits down with Sandra to explore why so many people are asking the wrong questions about Israel, and why the better starting point is, "Who is our God, and what is He doing?" Sandra shares a defining calling moment from her time in Los Angeles during the late Jesus Movement era, where she describes sensing Jesus' grief and love for the Jewish people.  From there, the conversation moves into antisemitism, what it is, how it spreads, and how certain theological ideas can unintentionally fuel it. Sandra explains supersessionism (often called replacement theology), points listeners to Romans 9–11 as foundational, and describes why humility, repentance, and Scripture-led thinking matter as global hostility rises and Israel remains central in the news. "Israel is the apple of God's eye, whoever would harm Israel is like sticking a finger in the eye of God." – Sandra Teplinsky "The ultimate question isn't, 'Are you for this side or that side?' The ultimate question is: Who is our God?" – Sandra Teplinsky "Paul cautions Gentile believers: don't be arrogant… Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the fullness comes in." – Sandra Teplinsky This Week on The Wow Factor: How Brad met Sandra through a chaotic Israel trip—and why her book stood out immediately Sandra's childhood experience with antisemitism and how it shaped her pursuit of truth A working definition of antisemitism and why it's not only external behavior Sandra's Los Angeles calling moment and a lifelong focus on praying for Israel's salvation "Apple of His eye" and what spiritual blindness can look like in the church Why Israel is rarely taught clearly in many Western churches and seminaries The impact of church-history interpretation shifts on modern theology Supersessionism / replacement theology: what it is and why it matters Romans 9–11 as a framework for God's ongoing purposes for Israel End-times curiosity, modern Aliyah, and rising pressure on Jewish communities worldwide The story of "S" and how Scripture confronted hatred at the heart level Practical steps: humility, repentance, and asking the Holy Spirit to reveal wrong thinking Why blessing Israel can't just be transactional—and needs to be rooted in loving God Sandra Teplinsky's Word of Wisdom: Start with humility. Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart, and let Scripture interpret Scripture. Caring about Israel isn't meant to be a trend or an argument—it's about aligning with the heart and character of God and learning to love who He loves. As we grow in our faith, we aspire to be Christians who know what we believe. Our beliefs have stood the test of time. These truths have become deep convictions in our hearts. We know them to be true because God has revealed them to us in His Word and by His Spirit. Others may choose to believe other things, but we live with the deep assurance of the truths of God.Main Points:1. Let me ask you, “Do you have a deep conviction about the gospel of Jesus Christ? Are you thoroughly convinced the Word of God is true?  Are you letting the scripture not only inform your life but also change your life?” 2. Our faith is anchored in the steadfast character of God. He does not change. His Word is forever true. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Generations come and go. Seasons come and go, but the Word of God is the same forever.3. You might be thinking, “Loren, why is it essential that we have a deep conviction about the Word of God?” It's so common today for people to express the idea that they are open-minded. As if this is a virtue. They don't want to seem dogmatic. They don't want to appear rigid in their thinking and beliefs. But this is exactly what our enemy wants. Without conviction, we are prey to false teaching, idolatry, and falling away.  Today's Scripture Verses:1 Thessalonians 1:5 - “our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.”Romans 14:5 - “Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.” Romans 4:21 - “…fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

Pastor Mike speaks on reading and studying the Bible, offering motivation and practical advice for both new and mature Christians. He provides three core motivations for study: the blessing of simply possessing an affordable Bible today, the Bible's unique nature as the divinely inspired Word of God that transforms believers, and the availability of numerous translations and tools like study Bibles. Mike also advises listeners to avoid "randomly opening" the Bible ("flipping") or reading too fast without understanding, and suggests the key strategies of "sinking sections" (dividing the Bible into its major parts, like Law, History, Poetry, Gospels, etc.) and understanding the different “genres” (like poetry, which uses parallelism). It's Wednesday, January 7th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Sudanese military killed 11 Christians Tragically, the military of Sudan killed a group of Christians on their way to church on Christmas morning last month. The Sudanese Armed Forces targeted the group with a drone strike, killing at least 11 Christians and injuring 18 more.  A Christian attorney in the area told Morning Star News, “The church [building] was not hit, but a congregation who were marching in procession towards the church were targeted.” Sudan's military is in conflict with various rival forces in the country's ongoing civil war. Sadly, Christians are caught in the crossfire, facing increased attacks and violence in the Muslim-majority country.  According to Open Doors, Sudan is the fifth most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Canadian Christians upset: Quoting Bible can be “hate speech” Liberal lawmakers in Canada are trying to remove a religious exemption from the country's hate speech laws. Currently, people cannot be convicted of hate speech if they make a statement in “good faith” based “on belief in a religious text.” The Christian Institute warns that quoting the Bible could be criminalized as hate speech under the new proposal. Andrew Lawton, a conservative Member of Parliament from Ontario, commented, “[The Liberals] are prepared to mount … a full-scale assault on religious freedom.” Psalm 94:20-21 asks, “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with [the Lord]? They gather together against the life of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.” Hegseth tours America's hypersonic weapons On Tuesday's Worldview newscast, we said, “The United States has yet to deploy its hypersonic technology -- it is still in the testing phase.” Upon closer examination, according to The War Zone, we can report that War Secretary Pete Hegseth recently toured the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama to examine America's long-range Dark Eagle hypersonic boost-glide vehicle weapon system. During his visit, Hegseth designated the installation as U.S. Space Command's new headquarters. The Army's Dark Eagle, also known as the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon, is a trailer-launched hypersonic boost-glide vehicle system that can travel long distances at hypersonic speeds, with velocities in excess of 3,800 miles per hour, while maneuvering erratically through Earth's atmosphere. This makes it an ideal weapon for striking high-priority and time-sensitive targets that are extremely well defended. It's the first true hypersonic weapon slated for frontline U.S. service. The same missile architecture is being adopted by the Navy for sea-launch under the Intermediate Range Conventional Prompt Strike weapon system. During a show-and-tell of Army missile systems, Lieutenant General Francisco Lozano, Director of Hypersonic, Directed Energy, Space and Rapid Acquisition, told Hegseth that Dark Eagle has a 2,100-mile range. Members of the media were also present at the event, which was captured on video by C-SPAN. Colorado must pay $5 million over trying to shut down pro-life clinic In the United States, Colorado must pay $5.4 million in a lawsuit involving a pro-life healthcare clinic.  The state tried to ban abortion pill reversal and shut down a Denver-area pro-life clinic. Bella Health and Wellness fought back and won their case with the help of The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.  Rebekah Ricketts, senior counsel at Becket, said, “At least 18 moms who received abortion pill reversal care at Bella just celebrated Christmas with babies born during this case. All Coloradans should celebrate those little miracles and the brave medical team at Bella that helped their moms when no one else would.” Vandal of J.D. Vance's home is trans Democrat The U.S. Secret Service arrested a man on Monday who caused property damages at the Ohio home of Vice President J.D. Vance. The man used a hammer to break four windows on the front of the home. He also vandalized an unmarked Secret Service vehicle. The man has been identified as 26-year-old William DeFoor. He pretends to be a woman and goes by the name “Julia.” His father. Dr. Bob DeFoor, is a prominent urology surgeon and a mega Democrat donor. Vice President Vance responded on X. He wrote, “I appreciate everyone's well wishes about the attack at our home. ... I'm grateful to the Secret Service and the Cincinnati police for responding quickly. We weren't even home as we had returned already to D.C.” Corporation for Public Broadcasting dissolves over Trump defunding The board of directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting voted Monday to dissolve the organization after losing federal funding.  Congress created the nonprofit in 1967 to support public broadcasting in America. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has distributed hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars each year to public stations through National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting System.  However, President Donald Trump has accused such outlets of spreading misinformation. Hey everybody, welcome back to The Smiling Homeschooler! We are kicking off our very first new show of the year. This is that time of year when everything just feels fresh again. Your brain gets a little reset, the stress of the holidays is gone, and it's a great chance to rethink the things that didn't work so well last semester. Maybe it's time to change a routine, toss some of the stuff that doesn't bring joy, or simplify a little. Co-ops are starting back up, routines are getting back in place, and before you know it, spring and summer will be here—whether you're ready or not! We will also be answering a listener's question and reading some of our listeners' highlights of 2025 and what they are looking forward to in 2026! It should be a fun and encouraging episode.  Before we get started, we want to thank Teaching Textbooks for making The Smiling Homeschooler possible. They're an amazing math curriculum, and we encourage you to check them out at teachingtextbooks.com. We'd also like to thank Samaritan Ministries—a community of Christians who help one another with medical bills. They make it possible for families to take steps of faith, whether that's a career change, a ministry opportunity, or bringing mom home. Romans 10:1-21 — Doctrine and practice must not be separated. This seemingly simple truth has a great impact on how Christians live and seek to obey Christ. In this sermon on Romans 10:1–21 titled “Doctrine and Practice,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones expounds on the apostle Paul's doctrine of the Christian life in all its glory and weightiness. Out of the great truths of justification by faith, predestination, and perseverance comes a view of the life that is grounded in the person and work of Christ. Christians must seek to trust God and His providence. They must be faithful to the command to evangelize and seek to love their neighbors as themselves. They must also be aware of the danger to intellectualize Christianity at the expense of practice. Some say things such as, “If God is sovereign, why pray?” or “If God elects, why evangelize?” However, Dr. Lloyd-Jones warns not to try to use vain logic to understand God, but rather read Scripture faithfully and submit to all of God's teaching. How then does doctrine relate to practice? The answer is that doctrine informs how God desires His people to live as new creatures in Christ Jesus. “I've been fired from four churches in five years because weak men can't handle my masculinity.” Yep. That's a real tweet - and it's the perfect picture of what happens when men refuse to take responsibility for their own failures. In this episode, we break down why blame-shifting is destroying the credibility of Christian men, and why building a culture of accountability is essential if you want to lead your home, church, or community with integrity. If you want to be a man your family trusts, your church respects, and God can use—this is where it starts. Episode 26-1 Jesus' Supernatural 7-Step Approach To Healing The Bible is full of stories about healing... encounters Jesus had with those who were sick and how He healed them. Each and every one of them. It earned Him the title of "Master Physician." Interestingly, Jesus' approach to healing is completely different than the approach used by most Christians today. It is also an approach that is far more effective. On this episode I share Jesus' approach to healing. A supernatural 7 step approach that totally contradicts the approach we use today. It's an approach you would do well to study and learn from… especially if you, or someone you know, needs a healing.  Give this episode a good listen and, as always, share it with a friend. Mark and I fear to know the percentage of such believers would be frightening, and our hearts break to witness how many are openly turning against the Gospel because of propaganda. The show's outline runs thus: *A discussion of the American military's capture of Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro. *The kinds of propaganda used during COVID. *Defining propaganda. *How sheeple play into propaganda. *Church street-smarts? *Different methods of propaganda including: firehosing, selective presentation, emphasizing one lens, info blizzards, A.I. deep-fakes, dishonest framing, bandwagoning and its opposite of gaslighting, fearmongering, and normalization. For each of those kinds of propaganda we talk through examples and their power. Come think and laugh with us!

On this episode of This vs. That, we sit down with Jared Wilson to explore the tension between gospel-centered and issue-driven ministry. We ask whether gospel centeredness was just another evangelical trend or if it remains essential to the DNA of healthy Christians and churches.Jared breaks down what gospel-centered ministry actually means—centering on Christ in Scripture, trusting grace for heart-level change, and finding our validation in Christ's performance rather than our own. In contrast, issue-driven ministry hinges its hope for change on cultural topics or headlines rather than the announcement of the gospel. We discuss why some have moved away from gospel centrality, exploring concerns about pragmatism and the temptation to lean on other approaches when change seems slow. Jared offers practical wisdom on how to recognize when we've drifted from gospel-centered ministry—often it starts when the gospel begins to feel perfunctory or less interesting than the cultural issue of the day.Throughout our conversation, we grapple with how to keep the gospel central when cultural issues demand our attention, and how to avoid treating the gospel like an empty Trojan rabbit—something we've forgotten to include in our ministry altogether.
