Steve Zehngut is a seasoned entrepreneur and technologist with over 30 years of experience in digital strategy, technical leadership, and business development. He founded Zeek Interactive, a Huntington Beach-based digital agency specializing in web, SaaS, and mobile development, which he sold in February 2024 at a 3.5x EBITDA multiple. Steve later founded SnapCTO, where he helps founders align their technology with their business vision. He also serves as the Membership Chair for the Orange County Entrepreneurs' Organization, highlighting his commitment to fostering entrepreneurial growth and collaboration within the community. In this episode… Building a business around technology is one thing — aligning that technology with a clear business vision is entirely different. Many founders rush into development without a strategy, burning time and money on products that don't scale or serve their market. Add in the pressure of hiring technical talent and managing growth, and the journey can quickly spiral into chaos. Steve Zehngut, a seasoned technology strategist and digital product expert, shares how to approach tech with intention rather than urgency. Steve explains the value of slowing down to ask strategic questions, how saying “no” can fuel growth, and why leaders should focus on aligning tech decisions with business outcomes. He emphasizes the importance of building relationships and providing value, which helped him secure marquee clients like Disney and Amazon, even during tough economic times. Tune in to this episode of the Smart Business Revolution Podcast as John Corcoran interviews Steve Zehngut, Founder of Zeek Interactive and SnapCTO, about the keys to aligning technology with business vision. They explore Steve's transition from filmmaking to software development, lessons from the sale of his agency, and his current mission of helping founders avoid common startup tech traps. Listeners will learn the value of choosing value-aligned clients and the impact of community engagement.

William D. Higginson: A Canadian Surrealist Visionary William D. Higginson is a Canadian surrealist painter whose evocative works have captivated audiences worldwide. A professional artist since 2007, Higginson explores a vast array of mediums and genres, creating pieces that resonate on both emotional and intellectual levels. His art is held in private collections across the globe and has been featured in numerous prestigious solo exhibitions. Notable showcases include sellout shows at The Space An Art Gallery (2023 and 2017), The Chali Rosso Art Gallery (2019, alongside works by Salvador Dalí), and The Vancouver Club (2016). Higginson's accolades highlight his exceptional talent: he claimed 1st place in the Surrealize International Art Competition (2022), two consecutive Golden Brush First Place awards (2011 and 2012), and an Award of Excellence from the Canadian Federation of Artists (2011). These accomplishments are a testament to his skill, vision, and dedication to his craft. His life story is as compelling as his art. Diagnosed with life-threatening liver failure and leukemia at age 11, Higginson spent three years confronting his mortality. During his hospital stay, a request for pencils and paper marked the beginning of a profound artistic journey. “Living with such conditions changes your perspective on life,” Higginson reflects. This early brush with mortality informs much of his work, often blending humor, surrealism, and deeply personal revelations. Beyond his individual achievements, Higginson has made a significant impact on the art community. As the owner of Impressions Live Art since 2007, he pioneered live painting performances, bringing art to audiences in dynamic and interactive ways. He co-founded Direct2Artist, a global initiative supporting thousands of artists in over 80 countries, and served as its Community Director (2013–2019). His roles as Membership Chair for the Federation of Canadian Artists (2013–2016) and Owner/Operator of Art Battle Vancouver (2013–2014) underscore his commitment to fostering artistic talent and community. Higginson's artistic philosophy centers on emotional engagement and introspection. “My dreams and imagination conjure imagery that I forever strive to render as clear on canvas as in my mind,” he says. This relentless pursuit of creative excellence has made his work a source of inspiration for collectors, art enthusiasts, and aspiring artists alike. Whether mentoring young talents or refining his own craft, Higginson's passion for art remains unyielding. His journey from hospital bed to international acclaim is a testament to the transformative power of creativity and perseverance. I connect with Joseph Vander Linde most regularly in our shared roles at the Rotary Breakfast Club in Fort Collins, where he is the Membership Chair, and I'm the Sergeant-at-Arms. So, when new people visit I often introduce them, and if they become a member Joseph inducts them into the club some weeks later. Joseph's is a journey of triumph over trauma. His mother was a victim of domestic violence from his step-father, and they escaped to a series of secure shelters and safe houses in the witness protection program during his 6th grade to 11th grade years. His grandfather was one of his primary rocks during those years and beyond, and I happened to interview Joseph just days after he delivered the eulogy at his grandfather's funeral. Eventually, the threat subsided, his mom remarried a good man and Joseph began his educational and professional journey. He also became interested in finance, getting into podcasts and reading books like “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”. Joseph's journey included many hundreds of hours of volunteer research for Mayo Clinic, located nearby his undergrad college, a transfer to a pre-med track from nutrition, and then a move to Colorado to further his medical education with Anschutz. From there, a hard right turn led him to a New York Life office - Legacy Financial Group in Fort Collins - and a couple years later - his own firm. Hard work, smart decisions, and dedication to being an honorable man are the hallmarks of this conversation, and I'm proud to share his journey of triumph through hard times. So please tune in and enjoy, as I did, my conversation with Joseph Vander Linde. The LoCo Experience Podcast is sponsored by: Logistics Co-op | https://logisticscoop.com/

Sandy Stewart is someone that has always impressed me. We met shortly after the release of my book and we just clicked. We had similar views on what it takes to be a strong leader, build a successful company and build something more than just about the money. I admire her greatly because she's a no-nonsense kind of person who will tell like it is. She probably gets that from her West Texas upbringing. She's a true badass and someone I deeply admire. Even more, after hearing the trials and tribulations she's gone through these past few years. To see her confident, focused, and ready to create bigger and bigger Ripples is inspiring. And let's just be honest, you can't help but love that sweet southern twang and her laser focus drive to change the world. It's intoxicating. Here's a bit about Sandy and her latest venture: Sandy Stewart is the creator and founder of Think Big, an outsourced sustainability support and training program for small- and mid-sized businesses. Her twenty-two-year career helping SMBs and SMEs grow value now has an added focus on what's known as the triple bottom line (people, planet, and profits). She believes that companies that care for their people, their customers, and their community have a duty to run a profitable, thriving business. She's a speaker, trainer, author, social impact strategist, carbon footprint specialist, value growth expert, and her current volunteer work includes Past President & VP/Treasurer for Tapestry Dance in Austin, TX and founder & Membership Chair for NAWBO Austin. https://www.linkedin.com/in/sandy-stewart-9534a/ https://www.instagram.com/thinkbigprogram/ www.thinkbigimpact.com

The shooting of Saheed Vassell by the NYPD on April 4th in Crown Heights re-ignited a chronic community safety debate: What kind of discretion should we use in calling the police when we know that it can result in a death sentence for an unsuspecting Black person? Today, we investigate what runs through people’s mind when neighbors call cops on neighbors. Third Rail’s Mark Winston Griffith and guest co-host Shantae J. Edwards sit down with Malika Aaron-Bishop, the Membership Chair for GetOrganized BK and co-facilitator for one of its working groups, Racial Justice BK; and Tom Weinreich, who helps organize the deep canvassing team within the NYC chapter of Showing up for Racial Justice (SURJ) . We also include excerpts from a telephone interview Mark conducted with Soraya Palmer, a member of Equality for Flatbush. Together, these three organizers offer an alternative framework for how to assess the necessity of calling the police and, in doing so, point towards a new community safety protocol in the midst of rapid gentrification. Segment One: We learn more about the boot on the ground work from our guests, Soraya, Malika, and Tom do and how vital it is to our neighborhoods. Segment Two: What is the role of gentrification and how are white people are socialized to call the police? We go through some scenarios that take us thru the critical thought process of calling the police. Segment Three: We talk about models and alternatives to calling the police we can point to and get to the root of offensive community listservs. Segment Four: "Tell 'Em Why You Mad" Intro and Outro theme Music: “City Survival” by MC K-Swift featuring TreZure Empire. Episode Music: "Clear Sky" by Jimmy Square. With additional editing by Siad "Gypsy" Reid.

Workshop Wednesdays Radio with Host Tony Gambone and his guest Alan Bourgeois and Randye Spina: B. Alan Bourgeois began writing when he was just a child, but as many children of his era and of the artistic background were told, “You need to study and get a real job to earn a living.” That statement from a well meaning mother put a pause on his desire to write. In 1989, he was asked to write a short story based on an actual event in his life. He did, and it was published as $200 Alan. Seeing his story in print once again inspired him to begin writing. Since then, Mr. Bourgeois has written many articles, short stories, editorials and has 7 books published covering many genre's. Through the process of writing and getting published, Mr. Bourgeois saw a need for additional marketing avenues for Authors that was not covered in the normal channels. While there were a lot of new ‘web' based social networks for authors, there was nothing that really helped challenged them, and or gave them a way to promote themselves in a way that finds new readers; Randye has worked for Fortune 100 companies for more than 20 years, although her heart & passion had always been elsewhere. She now puts her years of marketing & communications experience to work for small & micro businesses in industries as diverse as Non Profits, Retail, Construction, Financial Services, Authors, Insurance, Associations, Health & Wellness & even Pet Insurance. Randye is privileged to serve on the Board of Directors of a local nonprofit and to Chair their Marketing Committee. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Direct Marketing Association of Orange County, CA as their Membership Chair. One of her corporate marketing campaigns was nominated for the prestigious Echo Award.

Theologian Lesslie Newbigin writes, "We live in an age that favors doubt over faith. Both faith and doubt are needed, yet it is faith that is more fundamental. Even if I doubt something, I must believe there are criteria by which it can be judged. I must believe something before I can doubt anything. To choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation." I believe we come to church to be moved beyond a doubt. Our faith tradition encourages open inquiry. And our questions and doubts must be motivators to deepen and clarify our faith, giving us ground to stand on. The Rev. Alyson Jacks, Family Life Minister The Rev. Dr. David Sammons, Interim Senior Minister Reiko Oda Lane, Organist Charmaine Emery, Threshold Choir Director George Cavage, Membership Chair Jonathan Silk, Sound, Order of Service & Podcast
