Longevity expert Dr Florence Comite joins me to explain why testosterone, not estrogen, drives body composition and ageing in midlife women. Decline isn't inevitable - it's programmable. She unpacks why testosterone (which women carry in larger amounts than estrogen) drives muscle, visceral fat and brain fog from your 30s on, why only a third of us should fast, and the five biomarkers - fasting glucose, HbA1c, fasting insulin, cholesterol risk ratio and free testosterone - that predict where your healthspan is headed and how to change it. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN Why women carry more circulating testosterone than estrogen, and what its decline does to muscle, visceral fat and cognition from your 30s What "I don't feel like myself anymore" is actually signalling beneath the surface How cortisol quietly drives the anxiety-out-of-nowhere, the 2am wake-ups and the stubborn weight around your middle Why only a third of women should fast, and the 3-hour glucose test that tells you which third you're in What the five non-negotiable biomarkers reveal about where your healthspan is headed TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Intro: Why You Don't Feel Like Yourself After 35 - Peak Health, Testosterone Decline & the 30s Shift 05:52 - Perimenopause, Cortisol & Anxiety Out of Nowhere: Belly Fat, Sleep and the Caregiver Load 13:28 - Wearables, CGM & the Fasting Third/Third/Third: Measuring How Your Body Really Ages 20:11 - Who Should Actually Fast: The 3-Hour Glucose Test, Protein at Every Meal & the Oatmeal Trap 27:00 - Testosterone for Body Composition & Energy: UK Access, the 2024 Study & Protein for Muscle 33:46 - The 5 Biomarkers That Predict How You Age - Plus the 7 Patterns of Health Decline 39:37 - Decade by Decade for Women vs Men: Bone Loss, Osteoporosis, Andropause & Owning Your Healthspan VALUABLE RESOURCES - Invincible (Dr Comite's new book): https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/475986/invincible-by-comite-florence/9781529977066 - Dr Florence Comite's website: https://www.comitemd.com/ - Follow Dr Comite on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drflorencecomite/ AlgaeCal Plus*‡: Science-backed supplements designed to support healthy aging

I'm 44, running multiple businesses, homeschooling my kids, and managing a 45-acre homestead. And I'm in better shape now than I was a decade ago. Not because I have more time. I don't. But because I stopped relying on motivation and built systems that work regardless of how I feel on any given day. In this episode, I walk you through the six pillars I use to stay in peak health during the busiest chapter of my life: nutrition anchored in animal protein, strength that comes from living and working on a farm, conditioning built into daily movement, sleep treated as the foundation rather than an afterthought, light exposure that keeps my circadian rhythm locked in, and nervous system regulation that emerges from lifestyle rather than added protocols. None of these are complicated. The power is in stacking them consistently until they require no decision-making at all. If you've been waiting for life to calm down before you get healthy — this episode is for you. Thank you to this episode's sponsor, Peluva! Boomer Anderson is not your typical health guru—he's a former investment banker turned health optimization pioneer who got the wake-up call of a lifetime when he was diagnosed with cardiovascular disease at just 30 years old. Instead of accepting the standard “take a pill and come back in ten years” approach, Boomer went all-in on understanding what true health actually means. Today he's the CEO of Troscriptions, building science-backed solutions for stress, sleep, focus, and immune function, and the driving force behind Health Optimization Medicine and Practice (HOMe HOPe), a nonprofit that trains doctors worldwide to optimize for health rather than just manage disease. With a background that spans global finance, over 65 countries, and a relentless passion for challenging the process, Boomer brings the kind of real-world, research-backed insights that every entrepreneur and leader needs to hear.Takeaways:Your Stress Bucket Is Probably Already Broken: Boomer introduces the concept of the stress bucket—a container for all the stress in your life from work, relationships, environment, and yes, even exercise. When that bucket overflows, what you think is helping you (like intense workouts) can actually accelerate damage. Leaders need to audit their total stress load before adding more to the pile.Sleep Is the ROI Play You're Ignoring: Getting just six hours of sleep has the same cognitive impact as drinking two to three beers. Pull an all-nighter and you're operating like you've had ten to twelve. For entrepreneurs whose greatest asset is their brain, sacrificing sleep is literally leaving performance and money on the table.Health Starts at the Cellular Level: Boomer breaks down his framework that true health is more than the absence of disease—it's about getting your body's basic cell optimized and balanced. When you bring biomarkers like hormones and nutrients back to their evolutionary optimal levels (ages 21 to 30), the symptoms that plague most executives—brain fog, low energy, poor sleep—begin to fall away.Sound Bytes:“The through line for everything that I do is challenging the process.”“Getting six hours of sleep a night versus eight is the cognitive impact of drinking two to three beers. An all-nighter is the equivalent of drinking ten to twelve.”“Your day doesn't start with when you wake up in your morning routine. It actually starts with your evening routine.”Connect & Discover Boomer:Instagram: @boomersnhWebsite: troscriptions.comX: @boomersnhLinkedIn: @boomerandersonNonprofit: homehope.orgYouTube: Troscriptions

Closing in on 300 episodes of The Made To Thrive Show, it's been an enriching and empowering journey for me speaking to global experts and health heroes about their fields of expertise. So in honor of the 300 mark, I have put together a masterclass composed of the best insights for each of Made To Thrive's 7 Pillars To Thriving: purpose, community, sleep, nutrition, movement, self-quantification, and environment. Thriving - Pillar by Pillar distills the best of those conversations into one powerful series. Each episode is curated to help you not just understand a specific pillar — but how to take action to live it.This is Medicine 4.0 in action: preventative, proactive, personalized through data, and performance-enhancing. We believe sustainable health begins with awareness, and education is the foundation that transforms how we become aware of ourselves and the actions and habits that create our life. Only when we understand, can we identify both what's holding us back as well as the thriving that's possible. At the root of the word doctor is Latin for teacher. Through the Pillar by Pillar series, I hope each episode becomes a lesson about how to see health and wellness differently, and to empower you to take action, one intentional, educated step at a time.Sleep Sleep is the bedrock of recovery, brain health, and hormonal balance. Quality sleep—particularly deep and REM cycles—enhances cognitive function, emotional regulation, and metabolic health. Without proper sleep, even the best habits in nutrition or movement are seriously negated, making it a pillar you cannot skip.Featured quests:1. Dr Michael Breus2. Devin Burke3. Host Bart Zandbergen welcomed the CEO of Stark Health into the studio, Todd Vande Hei, to discuss the journey to peak health. Stark exists to change the future of health and fitness in the communities they serve. For the last 15 years, Todd has been on a journey to discover what it means to be in a state of peak health. After suffering from a series of seizures and being diagnosed with high blood pressure and atrial fibrillation in his early 30's, Todd decided it was time to make a change. Those changes fell into one of four categories: lifestyle, exercise, nutrition, and stress management. But the biggest thing Todd learned through it all? Health is a skill. You're not born with it, like some would like you to believe, and it isn't acquired by simply buying another product or starting that new diet. Health is something you can create for yourself, and over time it is possible to attain peak health. Listen to this latest episode that analyzed health as the ultimate wealth. Key topics discussed in this episode include: - Brain health and the aging process - The truth about the role that genetics play in overall health and fitness - How to develop health as a skill - The road to peak health Learn more about Stark Health by visiting: https://www.stark.health/ *** The Zandbergen Report, where wealth strategies and investment wisdom collide, is led by host Bart Zandbergen. Hyperbaric oxygen chambers have long been used for acute issues such as strokes and brain injuries—but can they be used for chronic conditions as well? This week, I'm joined by Dr. Scott Sherr, an internal medicine physician certified in hyperbaric oxygen therapy. We sat down to discuss what makes this chamber "a wound healer from the inside out" as well as the proper protocols one should follow before even considering oxygen therapy for chronic issues. In this episode, you'll discover: The Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): As soon as you step into the hyperbaric chamber, your body works to reoxygenate the cells in low-oxygen tissue. In the long term, not only does the body rebuild damaged blood vessels, but you can also expect to see a decrease in inflammation and swelling, an enhancement of the immune system, and lymphatic and detoxification optimization. Having a Healthy Foundation Is Key: "You want to get some of that foundational stuff working before you start stressing the system with oxygen," says Dr. Sherr. This includes having the right vitamins, minerals, and nutrients required to detoxify and create energy or ATP effectively. "The challenge in the hyperbaric world is that we don't think about these things as much," he adds. HBOT's Role In Cancer Treatment: Dr. Sherr uses hyperbaric oxygen therapy in conjunction with other interventions, such as vitamin C IVs and a ketogenic diet, as a way to support and sensitize people for chemotherapy and radiation. What Methylene Blue Does: In terms of supplemental support, Dr. Sherr turns to methylene blue, which helps optimize the mitochondria—the parts of the cells that produce ATP—while promoting detoxification at the same time, which the internal medicine physician calls "very unusual." He opts for low doses of the supplement to avoid potentially causing oxidative stress in the body. 05:40 Integrative Approach to Hyperbaric Therapy 07:03 Understanding Hyperbaric Therapy Basics 15:41 Physiological Benefits of Hyperbaric Therapy 19:07 Hyperbaric Therapy for Various Conditions 22:58 Hyperbaric Therapy and Cancer 26:27 Types of Hyperbaric Chambers 35:06 The Importance of Foundational Health Before Hyperbaric Therapy 39:36 Personal Experiences and Protocols for Hyperbaric Therapy 42:10 Optimizing Hyperbaric Therapy with Other Modalities 52:19 Methylene Blue: Benefits and Applications Connect with Dr. Myers: Website: https://www.amymyersmd.com/ Newsletter: https://www.amymyersmd.com/ec/guide-to-leaky-gut Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AmyMyersMD Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amymyersmd/ Episode mentioned with Dr. Shai Efrati on HBOT: https://open.spotify.com/episode/1bwEfDrSU5RTpwOkMwYf3L?si=e96668253f504c10 Connect with Dr. Sherr: Website: https://www.hyperbaricmedicalsolutions.com/integrative-hbot/scott-sherr Health Optimization Medicine (HOMe) Practice: https://home-sf.co/ OneBase Health website: https://onebasehealth.com/ Methylene blue product: https://troscriptions.com/pages/team/dr-scott-sherr Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drscottsherr/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drsherr/

Imagine you had a map that revealed a hidden landscape teeming with secrets about your body — decoding your gut health, your genetic predispositions, your oxidative stress levels, and even your biological age. It's a lot more accessible than you might think... In this episode, you'll get a breakdown of the intricate world of lab testing, mapping out the route to peak health and high performance. From comprehensive gut examinations and cutting-edge hormone analyses to the pivotal Omega-3 Index Report, you're about to get a roadmap for interpreting your body's data. I'll also share my rigorous testing routine, including annual gut and blood tests, once-in-a-lifetime genetic tests, and various one-off samplings, to demonstrate how to tailor testing for your health needs. Why is this so crucial? Because, as I always say, you can't manage what you don't measure. The intel gathered isn't just fascinating — it's pivotal for anyone serious about optimizing their health and wellness. But here's the kicker: while lab testing is necessary, it can often be unnecessarily expensive. That's why I've created a one-stop-shop resource page featuring the best, most affordable at-home health tests from Rupa Health. Additionally, I've enlisted AI tools and an expert coaching team to help you decode your treasure trove of data after testing to help you minimize costs. Throughout this show, you'll hear about crucial markers like lipid peroxides and 8-OHdG that can tell you a lot about oxidative damage (how fast you're aging on a cellular level). You'll also get to dive into mold and mycotoxin testing you can do from the comfort of your home with Rupa Health, and I'll explain why the Omega-3 Index Report is more than worth its $84 price tag if you're keen on getting your fatty acid balance in check. There's even the fascinating realm of biological age testing to see if your cells are younger or older than your chronological age. Tune in to uncover the essential lab tests that can reveal everything from hidden food sensitivities and heavy metal toxicity to the intricacies of your gut's microbiome. You won't want to miss this deep dive into the nuances of oxidative stress, fatty acid profiles, hormone health, and more to get a clear picture of how to fine-tune every aspect of your well-being.
