In this episode, we're breaking down the silent crisis in how we connect. We assume. We react. We hyperlink to past experiences rather than truly listening. And in doing so, we limit not just our conversations, but our leadership, relationships, and growth. But what if we could change that? What if we could infuse meaning into every conversation and create deeper understanding? We're exploring:The Why Behind the What – How clarifying intent changes everythingHyperlinking vs. Communicating – Why we default to assumption instead of connectionPossibility vs. Opportunity – How shifting your lens changes your outcomesThe Meaning Model – A powerful formula for sucessful communication What if communication didn't have to feel like a struggle? You know, it's not 50 contacts. It's 50 people I get to have conversations with."  "I will just put that down on my list of the live interactions that I'm supposed to have. The Why Behind the Work- Sermon 3 Series: Rebuilding Nehemiah 4:1-6 NLT 4 Sanballat was very angry when he learned that we were rebuilding the wall. He flew into a rage and mocked the Jews, 2 saying in front of his friends and the Samarian army officers, “What does this bunch of poor, feeble Jews think they're doing? Do they think they can build the wall in a single day by just offering a few sacrifices? Do they actually think they can make something of stones from a rubbish heap—and charred ones at that?” 3 Tobiah the Ammonite, who was standing beside him, remarked, “That stone wall would collapse if even a fox walked along the top of it!” 4 Then I prayed, “Hear us, our God, for we are being mocked. May their scoffing fall back on their own heads, and may they themselves become captives in a foreign land! 5 Do not ignore their guilt. Do not blot out their sins, for they have provoked you to anger here in front of the builders.” 6 At last the wall was completed to half its height around the entire city, for the people had worked with enthusiasm. Pray, Plan, Persist What has God put in your heart to do? Share The Vision Encourage The People Start Stay Focused. Are You On The List Of Workers For The Kingdom? The Why Behind The Work Nehemiah 4:13-14 NLT So I placed armed guards behind the lowest parts of the wall in the exposed areas. I stationed people to stand guard by families, armed with swords, spears, and bows. Then as I looked over the situation, I called together the nobles and the rest of the people and said to them, “Don't be afraid of the enemy! Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes!” The Why Behind The Work? God Is fighting For Us!

Find a purpose that is much bigger than yourself. Your work must be a renewable source of energy. Focus on your why to keep energy vampires at bay. Remember — your skills are valuable for your community. Quotes: “I continually found, throughout my clinical practice, that the days when I could connect back to my why, my passion, the thing that really drove me to dentistry and the thing that continues to keep me moving in dentistry — I had to focus on that why. I had to release those frustrating patient experiences, and I had to release those insurance companies that are going to make my life frustrating, and I had to go back to that why.” (5:39—6:06) “I do get patients that are afraid to sit in my chair. They see the needle and they start to panic. I do get questions about, ‘Does my insurance cover this?' And so, that layer upon layer, over time, it makes it hard for me to continue to go back to that. But I'm going to treat you like my mom, or I'm going to treat you like my dad, somebody I care about, somebody who I know is deserving — all of my patients are deserving of my top level of care. But it's hard to renew that energy over, and over, and over again when you've got these energy vampires that are pulling you out of that. And so, as a provider, that's where I began to feel the burn-out.” (8:16—8:54) “Patients can be energy vampires. They can drain you. And if you're doing that every hour on the hour, don't you get to the end

BWI Daily: Interview with Drew Allar QB coach Brad Maendler

The Blue-White Podcast: A Penn State Athletics Podcast

Penn State football offered current quarterback Drew Allar when he was an up-and-coming four-star player for Medina high school in Ohio. The soon-to-be Nittany Lion committed to the team before his senior season and erupted into a five-star, top-ten player in the Class of 2022. Today, the BWI Daily Edition takes you behind that transformation from a talented passer into a borderline superstar with the man who helped him get there. Private quarterback trainer Brad Maendler started working with Allar before his junior season and has tutored Allar throughout his final two seasons. Maendler takes you into the "Why behind the what."  The Why Behind the What Maendler starts the show by explaining how he got into quarterback coaching. A former quarterback himself, it's an unlikely way that he started coaching players professionally. He explains learning the biomechanics behind throwing and where he learned them. After that, host Thomas Frank Carr and Maendler dive into the subject of Allar. The Ohio native explains what made him reach out to Allar's parents in the first place and how the young quarterback impressed him during training. Much like Penn State's other five-star players in the 2022 class, Allar went through a transformation during the Covid-19 Pandemic.  That topic ties into something that T-Frank saw from Maendler online when discussing linear versus rotational throwing mechanics. Maendler then explains the evolution of traditional throwing mechanics and how he helped Allar change from a baseball thrower into a modern quarterback. Through this, he describes a new way of throwing, which quarterbacks from the NFL down, use to deliver the football with consistent power and accuracy.  T-Frank wants to know more, so he asks Maendler if this is where Allar's improved accuracy came from his senior season. They discuss the transformation process and the effort that Allar put into the switch. Maendler also gives insight into the Penn State freshman's personality and work ethic.  While most of their time deals with Penn State's prized quarterback, T-Frank wants insight into the other people and factors into Allar's development. He asks Maendler how the Medina offense relied on the 6-5 passer and how he made it his own over time. They also discuss Penn State quarterback coach and offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. What are his impressions of the second-year Penn State coordinator? He explains what he likes about Yurcich and what they have in common.  Finally, T-Frank asks about another pupil that Maendler is currently working with, four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery. The 6-2 Class of 2025 passer visited Penn State last weekend and is a high-priority player for his cycle. What makes him so good? Maendler describes his physical and mental approach to the game.  JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: http://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. The last two years have been turbulent and full of forced change. What was normal, suddenly wasn't and, whether we liked it or not, almost all of us had to evolve and change. We also know that by listening to these podcasts and following Purple Patch, you want to thrive and amplify your performance in your health, work, and life - all while getting faster. It sounds too good to be true, but is it? At Purple Patch, we think not. We are your tent-peg in the perpetual storm of change; a grounding of structured training that has helped many stabilize and maintain a path of health, perspective, and progression. How? Through Tri Squad. Today, Matt revisits the history of Tri Squad, The Why Behind the Programming, and, of course, the results. The Outcomes - both across athletic results, as well as energy, confidence, balance, and presence What is Tri Squad trying to solve and achieve for the time-starved athlete? What does Tri Squad offer, and what role does the Purple Patch team play? By answering these questions, we could begin to design dynamic programming. We knew what we wanted to achieve and solve - and for WHO. We also could appreciate the key elements and strengths that we could bring to the table. This provided CLARITY around the program and that is how the Tri Squad principles started to emerge. The program must be highly flexible (or dynamic as we say) and achievable for even the busiest athletes. It is important to empower the athlete to become autonomous within a network of support. Athletes must be a part of a like-minded community but also secure in the fact they are on the right journey for them. Education and real coaching must be central to the program for success. The program is designed for longevity and long-term performance. The sporting results are great, but the life outcomes are the biggest stories. You don't have the be chasing qualifications or podiums to draw these biggest benefits. You just have to show up and do your part. Rest assured, we'll deliver the right training and education with the tools for you to integrate into life. Your role? Commit to the journey and embrace the bigger picture. Don't quit when things get tough. Remember - life and performance is not linear and isn't easy, but it is essential if you want to thrive. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE. Either we've played the role of the victim in our lives or we have seen those close to us adopt a victim mindset. Why do we fall victim… to the victim mentality? See what we did there? So clever. Anyways, we're going to discuss how to break free from this mindset and how we've seen the victim mindset throughout our lives, whether in ourselves or in others. [2:45] A Pet Peeve of Ours. We discuss what frustrates us about having a ‘victim mentality' in some of the relationships that we've had. [4:04] What Is A Victim Mentality. This is a learned mindset. So let's delve into a bit more. [6:10] Signs You Have a Victim Mentality. Do you think you or someone else you know has a victim mentality? We go through what we've noticed when we typically play the victim in our life. The Blame Game. It's always someone else's fault. Self Defense Mechanism. Always being on the defense when there's conflict. “I don't get involved in drama”....but they cause it or are always involved in drama. Narrative development that paints you as the good guy. Becoming resentful of other people's happiness. [15:10]  The Why Behind the Mentality. Why is it easy to fall prey to the victim mentality? We discuss a few reasons why people may default to this mindset. Getting attention from others, especially if there is some insecurity there. Validation from others because it makes you feel good. Learned from the environment you grew up in. The people you surround yourself with - friendships who enable your behavior. [20:16] Unlearning The Mindset. How can we combat this and start changing this mindset to one of victim to survivor? Take RESPONSIBILITY for your life. Reflect, process and try to understand what was your role in the situation. Identify what narrative you are telling yourself. Separate facts from fiction. Get to the root: Why do you feel you don't have responsibility or control? Why do you only think bad things happen to you? Start practicing gratitude for what you have. Challenge limiting beliefs about yourself. Remember - even if you've been through a traumatic experience or a negative experience in your life, why should you give it that negatively impact the rest of your life? You know where to reach us.
