Set Clear Objectives Objectives guide your strategy; without them, you may feel stuck. Break down large goals into smaller, achievable tasks. Align your team or individual efforts with these goals to maintain focus. Align Strategy with Tactics Strategy outlines how to achieve objectives; tactics define specific actions. Focus on 2-3 strategies to avoid confusion and misalignment. Adjust tactics as needed, but maintain a consistent strategy to drive progress. Utilize Accountability Tools Implement short-term (30, 60, 90-day) plans to track incremental progress. Regularly review your progress to ensure alignment with goals. Use feedback loops to assess what's working and where adjustments are needed. Join a Supportive Community The Leader Lab provides a space to learn from like-minded leaders. Collaborate with others to uncover blind spots and share strategies. Leadership is about helping others succeed while achieving personal and business growth.

Scott Hearon is a native Nashvillian who grew up playing youth sports in the gyms and fields all over Middle Tennessee. A remarkably average athlete, Scott did not make a big impact in the high school stat columns, but he found his niche as a gifted leader and communicator among his teammates and coaches. Scott attended Baylor University and earned a degree in Communications and a minor in Business. While at Baylor, he met new football coach, Art Briles, during football tryouts when Coach Briles informed him that his 5.0 second 40 yard dash time was not quite good enough to be a slot receiver for the Bears.   After returning from Texas, Scott took a ministry job working with high school students and their families and coaching in his spare time. He found a lot of success in his day job, but repeatedly watched his worst self come out on the playing field. One afternoon after a particularly detrimental exchange with a player, Scott came to the realization that his paradigm for athletics flowed from his own fear, shame, and performance based identity that was passed on from many of the coaches he played for. With a clear desire for something more for himself and the young people he led, Scott set out on a recovery journey to become a full-hearted leader and to develop opportunities to help other coaches come along and do the same. Scott co-found the Nashville Coaching Coalition in 2015 and begin as the Executive Director full-time in 2016 with the goal of creating a growth and support community where Middle Tennessee's most important youth influencers, athletic coaches, can become the very best version of themselves.   Scott's most rewarding and challenging roles in his life are being a husband to Allison, father to his son, Fisher, and daughter, Hart. In his spare time, Scott loves to sweat, read, or be outside learning something new…usually with his black lab, Ranger. https://nccnashville.com/ The Phoenix Club of Nashville is a 100% volunteer-led 501(c)(3) organization of young men with a dual mission to benefit under-served youth in Middle Tennessee and to develop our members into leaders in their community and in business. Demetrius B. Short, CEO & Founder of Transformation Life Center. Over a decade has passed, since he walked across the stage as the first in his immediate family to complete the process of obtaining a college degree. To this day, Transformation Life Center CEO, Demetrius Short reflects on how his real-world experience did not come without struggles and obstacles stemming from his matriculation in the early 90's.   While pursuing his undergraduate degree from Fisk University, Demetrius witnessed first-hand the barriers that led to an increase in college student dropout rates. He didn't have a scholarship or transportation, and occasionally found himself with little food -- sleeping between the dorm director's office and the couch of a friend. Despite reaching one of the lowest points in his life, Demetrius refused to quit and become a dropout statistic. He secured internships and walked from campus to downtown Nashville in a business suit carrying a briefcase.    Years later, Demetrius returned to campus to nostalgically walk the same route he no longer had to travel. While walking, he had a divine intervention with God. Reflecting with tears in his eyes, he asked God, “Why did I have to go through this pain and struggle?” God responded to him and said, “Every step you took was a step toward your success.” It was at that moment, he conceptualized a God-sized dream, hunger and responsibility to help students overcome their own barriers in life and reach success. With a vow to run a 3.1-mile 5K in a full suit and sneakers to commemorate his struggle, Steps of Success 5K was born along with a personal and professional development program named Pathway to Success Initiative (P2SI).   After serving a number of years as a Board Member, Fisk University Young Alumni Association President/CEO of Steps of Success 5K, and witnessing the triumph of his ideas, he has tapped into a broader concept of becoming a worldwide success expert. With his reimagined understanding, Demetrius is igniting both collegiate students and individuals to have a positive impact on their community.   This overview is not only an accurate depiction of Demetrius' heart for the community but also, his quest to engage partners who are interested in investing into the success of students and individuals seeking positive outlets for change. Djuan Rivers is back again, and we are processing our recent Phoenix Club Cruise workshops. We were excited to have some great presenters, including Djuan. Day one started with Mike Simmons presenting on Goal Setting. Mike provided a great definition of goal setting and the importance of the practical application to implement. The best takeaway is his GAME acronym. It stands for Goals, Actions, Metrics, and Execution. The best part: it can apply to any area of life: personal, business, etc.  Lee Kitchen followed with Storytelling. He shared a great story about Disney and his relationship with Salvador Dali. The partnership was the seed for projects that are finishing 50 years later. The workshop highlight was a great exercise that brought people from different areas together to develop something they couldn't do on their own. Workshop day two followed an excursion day. I kicked off this day myself with a session titled Timeline. The takeaway is identifying what is unique about your content. Once you know, you can distill everything in your mind into a logical pathway toward a book or a podcast to serve your audience.  Karen Anderson followed and covered the impact writing books can have. Karen is an expert at simplifying the process. In fact, she has Djuan seriously considering writing a book. If you'd like to see that happen, send Djuan an email  djuan@djuanrivers.com and let him know.  The next workshop was a tag team effort between Djuan and I. We drew a parallel between national parks and theme parks and the stories they provide those who visit. Djuan brought it all home with his workshop explaining three principles he picked up over his 33 years with Disney. These three keys will help ensure you have happy employees, good retention, and satisfied clients and customers. Overall, it was great to see how all of the workshops organically connected with each other. It provided lessons that build upon each other to see change. High Society Comes to Texas

High Society comes to Texas, 1898 In February of 1892, The New York Times published its official list of the creme de la creme of New York Society— 400 individuals, a mix of “Nobs”— old money families such as the Astors and “Swells”—the nouveau riche including the Vanderbilts. It was the Guilded Age in New York and the city's influence helped city directories become popular across the country. In 1890, the Census had revealed that Dallas was the most populous city in Texas with 38,067 residents. It was followed in size by Galveston with 29,084 residents and Houston with a population of 27,557. Texas' largest city caught the attention of Holland Brothers Publishing, a company looking to expand its market in high society lists of major cities. Dallas seemed ripe for its own list of who's who in society and Voila! the Red Book of Dallas, Texas was born. The volume had the distinction of being the first Red Book published in Texas. And of course, the book's cover was red. One can only imagine the buzz this created in the city. To fill the book's 137 pages, in what was still somewhat of a frontier town, Holland Brothers Publishing needed lots of filler content. But let's start with the preface from the publisher. “In presenting the [Red Book] to the public, the publishers feel they have supplied a decided need of an important element of the community. To facilitate the requirements of social life and place persons in direct communication with the representatives of the different phases of the best local society, this directory is intended. It is here also that new residents of this city may find the names of any and all persons whom they may desire to include in their visiting list, and whom they wish to meet in any social way.” The small volume contained a high society list of 3,245 adults and children from Dallas, supplemented by 333 from Oak Cliff. If the household had a designated day for accepting in-person visits (or calls, the proper term), that was noted. Also included were the membership lists of eight local clubs, four for gentlemen and four clubs for ladies. Based on the Red Book, Dallas in the late 1800s appears to be a “clubby” city. The Dallas Club for gentlemen was by far the largest and owned its own building—a handsome four story, brick and stone structure completed in 1888 for $45,000 and located at the corner of Commerce and Poydras Streets. The Dallas Club was central to the activities of business, civic, and professional men of the city: however, ladies were allowed for special receptions and parties for visiting dignitaries. The Idlewild Club was a much smaller men's club — about three dozen members— founded with the purpose of giving four grand balls each season, beginning with a ball during the State Fair of Texas. It's hard to imagine that the wives of these men didn't provide input for the planning of these events, whether they were asked to or not. The Ladies' Shakespeare Club, founded in1855, was for the sole purpose of studying Shakespeare's plays. Membership was limited to 45 members. The thirty-two member Ladies Pierian Chatauqua Club reported its object was mutual improvement of its members, the social aspects were a side issue. Apparently a serious literary group. Not to be outdone, The twenty-one member Quaero Club adopted as its course of study “A new method for the study of English literature, which included reading current literature and a weekly review by critics. Two other ladies' clubs, the Standard Club and CLMA club, also existed to study literature. The Phoenix Club for Jewish gentleman was for the mutual benefit and mental, moral, and social advancement for its members and had sixty-five members. The Social Ethics Club was open to any unmarried gentleman over the age of twenty-one and its purpose was to promote the social, musical...

Bless me Papa Sven for I have sinned, it has been over a month since my last techno broadcast....... We've had a bit of a break here at Decomposed Radio so apologies for the radio silence, but I've been busy collecting and processing some great music for the next few shows, not to mention recovering from the incredible Works Party (and after parties) back in December. Speaking of which, the next few shows will feature sets from the 2 rooms at the Climbing Works Party; Solid techno from the main room, and some weird and wonderful stuff from the amazing "Rave Cave" which had me unexpectedly dancing like a lunatic on the night! First up on the techno side of things, is this year's special guest "E-Kul" who kicked things into overdrive in the main room around 3am! He's been DJing, and promoting and running techno nights since the age of 16, when he managed to scrape together enough money to buy a pair of decks and a 2-channel mixer. Nights like "Havok" at Phoenix Club as well as the legendary "Orbit" were major influences, as well as artists like Ben Sims, Jeff Mills, Speedy J and UR. All this results in a high energy, tough and fast style which you'll hear in the mix today, but the great thing about this type of techno is that it still has a real tangible groove to it, which drives it along nicely! So strap yourselves in, and travel back in time to the 6th December at Code nightclub in Sheffield on 6th December last year... This is Decomposed Radio, in the mix, with E-Kul......

Bestselling author PJ Manney joins Phil and Stephen for part one of a three-part interview discussing her new novel (ID)entity.  In the guise of political revolutionary Thomas Paine, bioengineer Peter Bernhardt brought down the corrupt and powerful Phoenix Club—and then turned revolution into evolution by becoming the first artificial human intelligence: Major Tom. In the two years since Major Tom revealed his digital existence and spread his freedom manifesto, he has been revered as a god and vilified as a demon. The United States and Europe have splintered into ideologically independent regions. Russia and China prepare to expand their empires. In the midst of the chaos, pirates attack a seastead in the Pacific Ocean, capturing one of Major Tom’s allies. A mysterious and powerful group wages a secret war. To rescue his ally, Major Tom must first regain his own humanity and somehow save a species he no longer identifies with, and which seems determined to destroy itself. Season 1, Episode 28 - This week, some totally rad brews from our friend Philip Lorenzini, special guests John Ryti and Time Ryan, and Foudre, duders! Long time friend of New Brew Thursday and Four Brewers, Philip Lorenzini, hooked us up with some really great beers, and we invited some friends to spread the beer love, John Ryti, aka Temecula’s Beer Ambassador, and Tim Ryan, aka “Showtime”. We start with a beer that we meant to get to last month on the show, Cascade Brewing Company‘s Foudre #1. This beer is a blend of three soured triple ales and was released in celebration of Cascade’s newly acquired foudre. If you’re not sure what a foudre is, it’s essential a very large wooden barrel, or cask. This photo was taken at Crooked Stave a few years ago and shows a style of foudre. Cascade, Perennial, and Three Taverns Beers. Needless to say, Foudre #1 is pretty great. Cascade used to be a somewhat rare treat for us in these parts, since they are located in Portland, Oregon, but their distribution to SoCal has picked up, and now we can very easily and joyfully give them all of our beer monies. Next up are two beers from Perennial Artisan Ales, one of which was provided by Philip Lorenzini, and the other acquired by our very own Matt Becker. Fist up is Saison de Lis, which is a Belgian style ale made with chamomile flowers. The chamomile works very well in this brew, and the beer itself stands out as very unique. Hints of cinnamon spice crept their way into the beer, too. It’s really interesting and totally worth trying if the opportunity ever presents itself to you. Stefon is next up. This was a collaboration beer between Perennial and Solemn Oath Brewery. It’s a dark rye farmhouse ale that was conditioned with brettanomyces. The brett isn’t very dominant in this beer, which is neither a good nor bad quality, and the beer overall is very well balanced and flavorful. Last up from Philip is Theophan The Recluse from Three Taverns Craft Beers. This beer is an Imperial Russian Stout that has flavors of raisins, bread and chocolate. This brewery is new to us, and this first offering was really solid. BIG, BIG thanks to Philip for sending these beers. He’s and awesome guy and a loyal fan. Cheers, dude! Onto something that we’re really excited about: We’ve started a Patreon campaign! If you don’t know what Patreon is, it’s a crowdfunding service similar to Kickstarter, except it’s meant to allow donors, or “patrons” as they call them, the opportunity to give continued support for artists through monetary donations. In our case, we are accepting donations on a per-episode basis. You can contribute any amount you wish, per episode, be it a quarter or ten bucks (holy shit!). Take the time to check it out. We ultimately want to offer more content to our fans, i.e. supplemental video content of our personal brew days and homebrewing techniques, visiting breweries, going to more festivals, etc., and we can only do that with your help. If you feel you get any value from the show, please consider throwing some duckets our way. We’re off to a great start, and couldn’t be happier about the generosity of our fans and friends thus far. Season 1, Episode 27 - John and Matt brewed a special grisette-style saison, David Gillanders is back on the show, and we’re drinking a DIPA from Barley Forge Brewing Co.. John and Matt finally did some goddamn brewing, and they made a pretty great brew! Matt got his hands on a “special” strain of yeast (he really didn’t give us any details other than that) and called upon John and his pimp-ass brewing setup to make ten gallons of a grisette-style saison, aptly named Grisette Beta. To date, this is probably one of the best brews that has come from said brewhouse.  John’s Brewhouse It was originally intended to be a 4.0% ABV beer, but due to some miscalculations while mashing, the original gravity came out a little higher than it should have, thus raising the final amount of alcohol in the beer. This beer was very much an experiment for Matt. He was looking to have a solid session-able saison that he could brew the shit out of, and outside of a few tweaks that need to be made, this beer is pretty much what he wanted. Feature: “Going In Blind.” Sara joins us yet again for another round of Going In Blind. The beers this week were themed around witbier, and consequently, the tasting was a bit lackluster. But, yeah…listen to it anyway! Not to give anything away, but we may be experiencing some third-show-syndrome antics… Barley Forge Brewing Co. Keeping in line with said antics, we wrap this episode up with an excellent double IPA from a brand new brewery from Costa Mesa, California, Barley Forge Brewing Co.. Their beer, named One Louder is DANK! Like, WOW, in a totally good way. It’s a Hop Head’s dream. Yum. Barley Forge opened about three weeks ago and so far, we’re very impressed with their beer offerings. Barley Forge is definitely worth hitting up the next time you’re in the OC. Greg did a nice write up on the brewery back in July while it was still under construction.
