Season 5: Episode 205In this episode of North American Ag Spotlight, Chrissy Wozniak welcomes back Matt Durian, Livestock Manager at the American Royal, to discuss the highly anticipated 2025 American Royal Spring Youth Livestock Show. The American Royal, a Kansas City tradition since 1899, has long been committed to championing food and agriculture. After celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2024, the organization is excited to bring back the Spring Youth Livestock Show for a second year, offering young exhibitors another opportunity to showcase their skills.Taking place from March 28-30, 2025, this year's show comes with an exciting addition—$3,000 in prize money for champions and reserves across all species, thanks to generous donors. Matt shares how this funding was secured and what it means for exhibitors competing in the non-terminal show. Unlike the fall show, the spring event offers expanded weight limits, making it more accessible to exhibitors with younger livestock that are not yet market-ready.Matt and Chrissy also discuss the unique role of the American Royal in educating the public about agriculture. The Spring Show will include an educational component, with a livestock judging clinic hosted in partnership with Northeastern Oklahoma College. This clinic will provide hands-on learning experiences for FFA students, aspiring judges, and anyone interested in improving their livestock evaluation skills.Reflecting on his background in California agriculture, Matt highlights the rich farming and ranching history of his home state and the misconceptions he has encountered since moving to Kansas City. He also shares the rewarding experience of welcoming first-time exhibitors to the American Royal, noting that 90% of last year's Spring Show participants had never competed at the fall event. For those attending the show, Matt offers recommendations on must-see Kansas City attractions, including the city's renowned barbecue scene and opening weekend for the Kansas City Royals—named after the American Royal itself.Listeners interested in participating in the show can register at AmericanRoyal.com, where they can also purchase tickets and learn more about the event. Those looking to support the American Royal can explore sponsorship opportunities or volunteer to help make the show a success.Tune in to this insightful conversation about the future of youth livestock exhibitions and the ongoing mission of the American Royal to inspire and develop future leaders in agriculture. ToyCon NJ has been a true treasure trove for Star Wars collectibles. In 2014, the first ToyCon NJ toy show premiered in Parsippany, New Jersey. And for a decade, it has offered collectors a chance to bring home some of the best Star Wars memorabilia in the galaxy. But for many, ToyCon has become more than a mere toy show. It is also a destination for Star Wars collectors club meetups, and a place where new friendships in the hobby develop and grow. Join host David Quinn as he reflects on ten years at ToyCon NJ. And tour the spring show's Friday night vendor setup with him, as he and collector/dealer Peter LeRose reminisce about the moments that have made ToyCon so special. Laughers, let us hear the encouraging and inspiring story with laughs as we chat life, choices, and comedy with national touring Comedian Jerry Cooke A.K.A Big Daddy Laugh-A-Lot. He is hilarious, original, and motivating. He started his career unknowingly 20 years ago after being asked to fill in as a host at an event he attended. Before he knew it, the crowd started laughing continuously, and by the end of the day, he was asked to host another event as a comedian. Big Daddy Laugh-A-Lot incorporates his journey of wholeness through his life decisions and weight loss into his role as a comedian and motivational speaker who has one heck of a story to tell including spending several years in prison. This dark time in life ultimately lead to a transformative time in life of finding his wife, his faith and call to pour into youth and people with his story and his comedy. Whatever season or occasion, we owe it to ourselves to always look our best and make a good impression. Our wardrobe is a key factor in achieving this and should reflect our unique personal style & brand, as well as accentuate our bodies, and make us feel comfortable. As a fashion lover and accredited media at The One of A Kind Spring Show Toronto's ladies night, it was wonderful to watch The Fashion Show proudly displaying the latest styles, colours, fabrics, patterns and trends. Wardrobe therapy! More inspiration and wardrobe ideas came from my interview with fellow fashionista Lauren Mair, owner of ELLEMAIR CO - a clothing company that is made with passion and soul and promotes that you love your fashion, but not at the cost of our planet, animals, or people. We discuss her philosophy, creative and artistic background that she incorporates into the beauty and versatility of the down to earth, bohemian duster statement pieces she produces from recycled and vintage pieces in vivid fabrics. Each can be dressed-up or down, worn alone or as an accent piece to make your soul happy every day, even while traveling Sign up to become a member of Janette's TV Youtube Channel!https://www.youtube.com/@JanettesTV/videos Support the show

Regardless of how you define it, art is something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful, expressing important ideas or feelings. It's interpretive, surrounding our homes, offices, streets, and cities, and thus, a significant part of our lives. While covering The One Of A Kind Spring Show Toronto Ladies Night as accredited media, I met Mixed Media Toronto-based Artist, Morgan Jones. His unique tea party complete with his ballerina model and work immediately caught my eye. I just had to interview him! We talked about his former career as Director of Sales for a large consumer electronics company, how he became a self-taught full-time artist, and why. How he's inspired by the casual observation of people and life around him, and how his work is constantly evolving. The multi-step process he uses to create his art, his keen eye for texture and composition, coupled with a whimsical flare, Morgan creates works that are aesthetically engaging while also evoking a visceral response in the viewer.
Cheeseheads await as we head to Wisconsin for the Spring Show. Let's talk markets and promotion!

Ready For Takeoff - Turn Your Aviation Passion Into A Career
From Doc Weaver's website: Upon graduation from college, Weaver pursued a flying career as a pilot in the United States Air Force. In addition to flying, painting gave him an outlet that added much to his life. His last assignment prior to retirement brought him to New Mexico in 1974. He retired from active duty in 1976 and from that time on he has painted full time. In 1974 Doc Weaver joined the New Mexico Watercolor Society. He was awarded Charter Signature Membership in this society. From 1972 through 1976 Weaver was employed as a workshop director with Tony Van Hassalt's Painting Holidays Workshops. Van Hasssalt's workshops always had a stable of top-notch artists teaching painting. He directed many workshops, principally for John Pike, Tom Hill, George Cheropov, Jack Pellew, Tony Van Hassalt and Charles Reid. Over the past 30 years he also conducted his own watercolor workshops throughout the West. In 1977 Doc moved from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, where he has remained active in the arts community. During the next several years he served on the Santa Fe City Arts Council, the Board of Directors and Master Selection Committee of the Santa Fe Institute of Fine Arts, and has been an Officer and Trustee, Museum of New Mexico Foundation. Weaver splits his time between painting outdoors and painting in the studio. Sketches completed on location are a valuable resource for his larger studio work. In addition to watercolor he also paints in oil and acrylic mediums. Many of his paintings are in private collections and in the collections of museums throughout the country. He is a member of the United States Air Force Artist Program and his paintings are represented in the United States Air Force Art Collection. Exhibitions: New Mexico Watercolor Society: 2004 Spring Show, Canson Award winner. American Watercolor Society: Selected for exhibition in the 134th show, New York, NY, April 2001 Watermedia 2000: Signature Member Group, New Mexico Watercolor Society Palace of the Governors, Santa Fe, New Mexico, June, 2000 The Taos National Exhibition of American Watercolor II: Stables Gallery, Taos, New Mexico, November, 1996

After trudging through yet another long, unforgiving, and somewhat boring Wisconsin winter, spring has arrived. Along with the increased sunlight and climbing temperatures, a wealth of great shows are headed Milwaukee's way this season. Between the end of March and mid-June, the city's entertainment calendar is brimming with a mess of local release shows, comedians, touring musicians, and the first festivals of the year. To help find the best, weirdest, and most interesting events taking place in Milwaukee this spring, host Tyler Maas enlisted the expertise of Milwaukee Magazine and Shepherd Express music writer Kevin Mueller. From his dining room, Mueller (a proud new papa) and Maas ran through some standout shows, talked about the increase in spring festivals in the city, pondered why popular bands are playing in small venues these days, and debated how to correctly pronounce Ty Segall's name. This episode is brought to you by Surly Brewing, a Minnesota-based brewery and the official beer of On The Record. Try Surly’s new reduced-gluten Hopshifter IPA now. Music used in this episode comes courtesy of Piles ("Blue Glue") and Slow Walker ("Ride").

On this episode, Cydney talks about traveling to the city to visit her cousins, gives a fairly dramatic rendition of the 3 Little Pigs, and sings a selection from her Spring Show.
The essence of distance pacing...I love this spot!
To help find the best, weirdest, and most interesting events taking place in Milwaukee this spring, host Tyler Maas enlisted the expertise of two of the city's premiere entertainment writers. Milwaukee Magazine and Shepherd Express music writer Kevin Mueller and WMSE radio personality (and occasional Milwaukee Record contributor) Cal Roach joined Maas to discuss the shows they're most excited to see. From Janet Jackson's Bradley Center gig to Bubba Sparxxx's upcoming show at Cudahy's City Lounge, the trio covers a wide range of spring shows...most of which are somehow connected to Andy Kindler.
We ran this show some time ago but got such a great response from our community we thought it would be a great Spring Show to do a rerun as Phil is traveling this week. Keep a look out for our follow up show to this one coming up in a few weeks. Crazy Cosmic Love, Matt & Phil. This week on the Matt and Phil show, we are going down the 'rabbit whole' in a bit of a different way. Yes, we are going to talk about Sex, Sex & Spirituality, Tantra, Sex and Making Love, Sex and Feeling Good, Sex and Pleasure, Sex and guilt, Self Sex, Sexual healing, Sex and Sex and more Sex. Get over it people, we all like it, we are biologically set up to enjoy it, what would happen if we REALLY aligned with our sexiest sex vibe in the Vortex? What would happen if we opened our minds to what is possible through sex with our partners from an energetic and spiritual point of view? What if we opened up to a whole new way of thinking and feeling about sex, so much so that it changed our lives for ever... We have 3 very powerful women on our panel: 1. Jeannette Maw from http://www.GoodVibeU.com and http://www.GoodVibeCoach.com 2. Lisa Hayes from http://www.LisaMHayes.com 3. Ananda Tantra (site to be launching soon) https://plus.google.com/u/0/105914018857063241049/about/p/pub It will be a lively discussion, and we look forward to hearing from these 3 experts!

I had the opportunity to take part in the Northeast Wisconsin Woodworkers Guild spring show again this year. I had a table and demonstrated making scrollsaw bowls and promoted the site. I took this video on the morning of the second day before the doors opened to the public. If you didn't make it to the show i hope to see you there next year.
Saint Bridget, a story from The Druid's Isle and 5 great pieces of music! In this show, released on St. Patrick's Day, we follow the birth of the young Spring Maiden with some fascinating information about the Irish Saint Brigit and the Goddess Bride, as well as a beautiful section from The Druid Isle by Ellen Evert Hopman which is a follow-on from The Priestess of the Forest excerpt we read in Special 06, a great piece of poetry accompanied by the wonderful harp of the much-loved Scott Hoye, and another 5 superb pieces of music. You can hear the inspiring Damh the Bard, the high-energy Spiral Dance, the evocative and traditional Jennifer Cutting's Ocean Orchestra and lastly, the atavistic Amergin by the MIGHTY Dolmen!! Email garyandruth@celticmythpodshow.com, or leave us a message using Speakpipe Song of Awen by Damh the Bard Damh is a modern-day Bard whose spirituality, and love of folk tradition is expressed through his music, storytelling and poetry. Drawing on the Bardic traditions his performances are both entertaining and educational, weaving a tapestry of myth, peace, and anthems that speak directly to the heart, but never without a good splash of humour. You can find his music on iTunes, or from his website, Pagan Music. He is also the voice behind Druidcast, the official podcast of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids (OBOD, for short) - modern day Druids. You can find out more details about Damh on his Contributor Page on our website. Sloinntireachd Bhride - The Genealogy of Bride by Alexander Carmichael An excerpt from the wonderful Carmina Gadelica, Hymns and Incantations, Ortha Nan Gaidheal, Volume I by Alexander Carmichael [1900] concerning the customs of St. Brigit and the old Celtic Goddess Bride. We start with the story of St. Brigit being Mary of the Gael, or Mary's midwife. The original can be read at Sacred Texts. Into the Green by Spiral Dance Multi-award winning group Spiral Dance, based in Adelaide, has been playing rousing, high-energy music to enthusiastic audiences throughout Australia and beyond for over a decade. With a combination of haunting vocals, evocative fiddle, intoxicating guitar riffs and groovy accordion lines, underpinned with potent bass and dynamic percussion, the band presents an eclectic blend of traditional folk-rock with powerful self-penned songs and tunes. Enchanting melodies intertwine with mythical tales that are sure to captivate your soul, tease your mind and steal your heart, casting your spirit into the realms of magic and the mists of ancient time. We are privileged to bring you the evocative track, Into the Green, for our Spring Show, and you can find the lyrics on their site. You can find out more about Spiral Dance on their website or on our Contributor Page. Brigit of the Gael By Ruthie Colcombe A mixture of inspiration and verbal imagery from all over the Interwebs, this is our dedication to the Brigit, Bride - the Maiden of Spring. Eleanor Plunkett/Fanny Poer by Scott Hoye Scott plays traditional and original tunes played on Celtic harp, vocals, and other instruments. Pulling from traditional sources of Irish, Scottish and other folks music, while mixing them together with contemporary sounds to create a new, sonic brew. Here he has allowed us to bring you his beautiful medley, Eleanor Plunkett & Fanny Poer, as an accompaniment to Ruthie's poem. Check out his Contributor Page for more of his great music you can hear. We hope to hear a lot more of Scott on the show in the future. You can find out more about Scott on his website or check out his Contributor Page for some great info. Summer Will Come Round Again by Jennifer Cutting's Ocean Orchestra Jennifer Cutting and her Ocean Orchestra bring us a wonderful warmth to the coming summer, with their beautiful song, Summer Will Come Round Again. This rousing Folk track is a brilliant example of the high quality of foot-stomping music that you can expect from Jenifer and the crew! Raised on an Hindu Ashram, Jennifer's unique perspective brings us a celebration of Christian and Pagan Solstice traditions. You can find out more about Jennifer and the Ocean Orchestra on their website at Ocean Orchestra or on our Contributor Page. The Druid Isle by Ellen Evert Hopman This book, The Druid Isle, is the second in a wonderful Druidic trilogy penned by the famed Druid author, Ellen Evert Hopman, that started with Priestess of the Forest and will end, this year with the final book, Priestess of the Fire Temple. We read a section from Priestess of the Forest in SP06 (go back and listen - it's an amazing story!) in which Ethne gets to meet Ruadh and in this section from the second book, the two and their beloved foster-daughter Aoife depart on a mysterious mission... Priestess of the Fire Temple is due to be published this month (March) and should be available from all of the normal sources, including Amazon. As far as we can tell - it's available now. :) Ellen is a Master Herbalist and lay Homeopath who holds an M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling. She is a founding member and a current Co-Chief of The Order of the WhiteOak. She was Vice President of The Henge Of Keltria, an international Druid Fellowship, for nine years. She is a Bard of the Gorsedd of Caer Abiri, a Druidess of the Druid Clan of Dana and has been a member of The Order Of Bards Ovates and Druids and of ADF. She is a member of the Grey Council of Mages and Sages and she teaches at the Grey School of Wizardry. You can find out more about Ellen on her website, buy her book on Amazon and also find out more about the Order of the White Oak on their website. You can find more details on our Contributor Page. Amergin by The Dolmen THE DOLMEN … A Storm has washed over Europe. Every so often, a band comes out of the Celtic heartlands, takes the musical audience by the throat and shakes it hard. And guess what, it’s about to happen again. The ever popular Celtic Folk-Rock scene in the UK has served up a real rough diamond, THE DOLMEN, a gig-hardened bunch of piratical rebel-rousers from the clan-lands, whose music and live performances have become the stuff of tribal legend, being both unique and very addictive. In 2011 they take this raw energy to mainland Europe. We are very proud to bring you one of their powerful, atavistic earlier tracks, Amergin from their album Songs from the Druids of Stonehenge. You can find out more about The Dolmen on their website at The Dolmen or on our Contributor Page.
