Are you ready to meet your inner child? More importantly… Do you know who they are and why they matter? Inside all of us there’s an inner child that was once wounded. And that inner child can have some pretty big effects on who we are and how we function. Inner child work, also referred to as inner child healing, is a way to address our needs that haven't been met as children and heal the attachment wounds we formed. When you do inner child work, you become open to — and aware of — an entirely new world of possibilities for yourself. In this week's episode I’m joined by speaker, coach, and entrepreneur Matt Cama to take a look at why understanding your inner child is so important and discuss how you can begin healing your inner world so you can experience emotional freedom in your life. In this episode you’ll hear: Why having empathy for ourselves and others is the foundation for the entire healing process [4:15] Who our inner child is, and two of the most powerful questions Matt asks to help. uncover it [6:48] Why he focuses on the inside game rather than the external to uncover patterns showing up in his clients’ relationships [14:41] What happens to our external world when we do the necessary inside work first [18:02] Why Matt feels so strongly that playing and having joy is everything in life and business [20:49] The key things from our childhood that are impacting and influencing our current relationship template [26:58] His process for repairing and loving parts of himself that he’s discovered through the inner work he’s done [34:09] Ways to get the courage to move from awareness to taking action [41:02] A recent relationship check-in that Matt had with his partner, and the critical lessons that he was reminded of from doing this exercise [48:56] Read the show notes: https://www.melyssagriffin.com/matt-cama-108 Matt's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/matt_cama/ Matt's Website: https://www.mattcama.com/  Matt's Inner Child Workshop: https://www.mattcama.com/inner-child-workshop Matt's Retreat: https://www.mattcama.com/deep-end-retreat Matt's Twitter: https://twitter.com/mattcama Matt’s YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnotzEfXJr-MN8kGjlUQ7Sw

On this podcast, we’ve covered a lot of great snacks. Whether it’s mindless snacking during quarantine or pairing a snack with your favorite movie, we can’t get enough of it. So instead of taking it out altogether, our buddies at RIND Snacks have an alternative solution. RIND snacks utilize the nutritional value found in the peel or rind of the fruit while providing quality taste. As our guest mentions in the episode, “the secret ingredient” isn’t “something we add, but rather something we don’t subtract.” The rind is “the heart of a fruit’s nutritional core.” With RIND, there’s no longer that after-snacking guilt of eating a whole bag of chips, but rather a boost of health. So please tune in for today’s episode as we sit down with Matt Weiss, CEO, and Founder of RIND Snacks, as he breaks down his journey into creating RIND Snacks. In part 1, Matt discusses His support system; The Hundred-Foot Overview of RIND Snacks; Introducing the power of the peel; Continuing Great-Grandma Seitner’s legacy through RIND Snacks; Matt’s journey to creating RIND; Learning by doing; Why Matt chose rinds; Receiving feedback at the start of the business; and much more. Most vendors in the Shopify ecosystem would have you believe that subscription-focused commerce is the key to customer retention for CPG brands. But with monthly churn rates pushing 10% across the industry, Repeat has a better way. Repeat will automate a frictionless reordering experience for the largest part of a CPG brand’s customer base: The non-subscriber. Repeat uses machine learning to analyze one-time shopper behavior, automates reorder notifications, and delivers personalized replenishment carts that aid in up-sell and cross-sell efforts. Matt Shields is co-founder of a real estate investment company called Significan LC. With Significan LC, he and his co-founder set out with a big hairy audacious goal of changing the world, one community at a time, one person at a time. They feel the way to truly do this is to change the language they use to communicate with the members that live in the communities that Significan LC manages and builds. Significan is changing how members are treated and the level of service provided to them. Matt believes that when they make people feel like they are significant, they'll live happier lives and because all members feel a connection in belonging to the community the loyalty to the brand and community increases In between managing and running these two businesses, Matt also runs a podcast called Pass the Secret Sauce where he interviews CEOs and founders and uncover the secret sauce that led to their success. What you'll learn about in this episode: How Matt and his team at Significan have built communities that focus on people and respect first, focusing on the communities first and members second How the Significan team use their core values and hierarchy of needs to determine right from wrong and solve the problems they face How Significan grew from five communities with a total of 253 units between them and added another community with 275 additional units, more than doubling in size Why Matt recommends you refer to your business to others in the plural as “we” even if you're a solo entrepreneur Why the team at Significan is focused on word-of-mouth marketing and raising the profile of their communities rather than paid marketing initiatives How multifamily investors of any size and scale can adapt some of the strategies Matt has developed to work with their own properties What challenges Matt has faced in his career, and why learning from challenges and taking action have been key to Matt's success Why Matt highly recommends the book “Never Split the Difference” by Chris Voss, and how its lessons on communication and negotiation have made an impact on Matt's success How to connect with Matt Shields or learn more about his podcast series “Pass the Secret Sauce” Why Matt believes finding the right mentor and surrounding yourself with the right people is crucial for finding success in real estate Resources: Pass the Secret Sauce podcast with Matt Shields: https://passthesecretsauce.com/ Facebook: www.facebook.com/significanLC Instagram: www.instagram.com/matthewshields/ Twitter: @PassSecretSauce LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/matthewshields/ LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/significanlc/ Additional resources: Register for the Wicked Smart Kick Start virtual one-day event on January 9, 2021: www.WickedSmartKickStart.com SmartRealEstateCoach.com/action Real Estate on Your Terms by Chris Prefontaine SmartRealEstateCoachPodcast.com/webinar SmartRealEstateCoachPodcast.com/ebook SmartRealEstateCoach.com/QLS Smart Real Estate Coach Podcast Sponsor: Paul G. Every now and again, you just have to have a dance party in your living room. That’s just some of the happiness advice Matt Howard shares in today’s episode of Lift U Up: Inspiring Health Stories. For Matt, music is always essential. Currently working as the Principal Percussionist with the https://www.laphil.com/musicdb/artists/2491/matthew-howard (LA Philharmonic), Matt shares his story on how his path led him to his https://www.nws.edu/news/first-year-percussion-fellow-lands-dream-job-with-la-philharmonic/ (dream job) so quickly. Even during a pandemic when he can’t perform live, Matt still finds a way to bring music into his life – and the lives of others.   Matt still pinches himself when he is reminded that he is living his dream playing music for a living. Growing up, Matt recalls that there was always music playing around the house. From oldies to modern rock, he found himself drawn to the artists his parents would play. When they saw he caught the music bug, they helped him pursue his passion. Matt learned how to play the drums and other percussion instruments and attended a high school music program.    As a senior in high school, Matt didn’t think that he wanted to have music as his life-long profession. But when an accident left him temporarily unable to play - he knew he had to do something after graduation. Time attending community college, led Matt back to becoming obsessed with percussion.  “If you want to get good at something, you have to obsess over it,” says Matt.    Today, Matt lives out his days continuing to find happiness in music. REAL ESTATE ENTREPRENEUR: WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: Matt’s journey in the real estate business How Matt became a real estate entrepreneur What traits and characteristics Matt looks for in new team members during the recruiting process Matt’s perspective on scaling a real estate business The importance of hiring team members who are more talented than you, and who are aligned with your values How to get clear on the experience you want to create for your customers Why you need to embrace leadership to achieve peace, freedom, and happiness Why Matt believes anyone can learn leadership Build Your Business Around Your Strengths Matt Hudson is an incredible real estate entrepreneur who is driven by passion and progression. He is the founder and CEO of Colorado Home Realty, and his leadership principles are deeply aligned with our philosophy here at Pursuing Freedom. Matt pushes the CHR team to find joy in their work, do things that make them feel alive, and attract success by managing their energy. In this episode of Pursuing Freedom, Matt joins us to share their journey. He gives us an inside look at his process for creating an incredible culture and team, scaling his business, and developing a leadership style that yields results! Honor Your Gifts At one point, Matt was doing 50-70 transactions a year. But the transition to real estate entrepreneur would prove to be very challenging. He operated on the principle that “the customer is always right,” so when Matt became a leader, he spent a lot of time and energy making sure the people around him were whole instead of leading from his strengths. Once he consciously chose to honor himself and communicate his highest values to other team members, Matt achieved an entirely new level of clarity that took his business to a higher level. Peace, Freedom, and Happiness The common denominator of all leaders is that we don’t embrace leverage until we get clear on what we believe in, what we stand for, and what our environment will provide our clients. As a real estate entrepreneur, if you can articulate that and use it as a framework to hire team members who are more talented than you, you can realize your vision in a profound way. You will achieve an unbelievable amount of freedom when you define the experience you are trying to create for your customers. When we figure out how to embrace leadership, we can finally achieve peace, freedom, and happiness. Photo by Naomi Hébert on Unsplash ABOUT MATT HUDSON Matt is the founder and CEO of Colorado Home Realty. He is dedicated to surrounding himself personally and professionally with people who want to live big, dream big, act big, and profoundly impact the lives of others. For Matt, anything short of world-class is unacceptable. He continually searches for excellence within himself, and in stealing a line from Michael Jordan, “every day wakes to compete against what he thinks he is capable of.” Matt applies this drive and passion within his organization in a way that challenges and supports, grows, and evolves great people, business professionals, and leaders. Regarded for his analytical and strategic skills, ability to inspire and motivate people to dream big and perform at a higher level, Matt has been hired by banks, management consulting firms, private equity and venture capital firms, mortgage companies and title companies nationwide to assess business development performance and create strategies and training to affect change. After years as a top-producing real estate and mortgage professional, Matt founded CHR with a vision and desire to change the real estate industry by creating a company that stands for excellence, culture, world-class experiences and to be a model of what is possible. A serial entrepreneur, since 2005, Matt has started four other companies and has future plans for a consulting firm, many books he will write, an education company, and technology development. But his first love is real estate. Matt hails from a small island off the coast of Washington but has been a Colorado resident since 1999. He lives with his wife, Barrie, and their two children Hannah and Carson, in Littleton. Matt enjoys time with his family, coaching baseball, inspirational speaking, learning quantum theory, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, climbing, and running with his dogs. Matt is a coffee, wine, beer, and whiskey snob; he won’t wear shoes that haven’t been shined (unless they are biking shoes, hiking boots, or flip flops), loves to wear jeans and a sport coat, shorts and a t-shirt, and he gets his best ideas while mowing the lawn. One of the things I try to do on this podcast is present you with completely different approaches to recovery and improvement of mental health. So, just like last week, I'm inviting on another guest to share their thoughts and insights on the topic!   Matt Simpson is an author, speaker, and transformational coach. His 2019 book, Worth The Fight: Acting for a Better World, A Guide to Spirituality, Psychedelic Medicines, and Overcoming Trauma, provides invaluable insights and tools to overcome trauma and up-level your game. He also does some amazing, amazing work with veterans through plant medicine work where he focuses on inner work.   In this episode, Matt and I have a very frank conversation and we discuss several topics on the themes of healing through hallucinogens, facing your shadows, early life trauma vs. stereotypical masculine programming, the trauma that veterans face, and how to find what works for you in your own journey of healing.   My hope for this podcast is to bring you new ways of thinking about recovery that you may have never heard about before… and I know this episode with Matt hits that mark!   IGNTD Specials: Free IGNTD Recovery Workshop New IGNTD Recovery Live Online Support Groups   Topics Discussed: [:40] About today’s episode!
