Give a listen to this much-needed discussion about destigmatizing kink and expanding our definition of a healthy relationship, as Tami and Stefani discuss: reassessing our sexual attitudes; how kinky became taboo; bringing kink into the “cultural redemption arc”; the misconceptions about trauma and kink; the concept of authority exchange; surrender and relaxation; kink as a relational, not a sexual, behavior; moving from secrecy to shared knowledge; decorating and enhancing one's “core vanilla-ness”; discovering your fantasies; the nature of fetishes; understanding your erotic map; and more. Ep 313: Kinky vs. Vanilla Navigating a Difference in Desires with Author and Therapist Stefani Goerlich. This was an epic discussion! Stefani is a certified sex therapist, a kink-affirming therapist, a master social worker, a media and intimacy consultant, an award-winning author, and a conference presenter. She's also a podcaster at Securing Sexuality. Her book With Sprinkles on Top is a sex-positive and compelling guide for people with a desire discrepancy in relationships, particularly between kinky and vanilla partners. She assists people in navigating relationships and specializes in gender, sexuality, and relationships in her practice. She also focuses on kink and mental health and how tech fits in, especially in a constantly changing digital world. We talked about how kink is relational, but she doesn't address the how-to's of kink but helps people communicate regarding consent, negotiation, and how to live out healthy power exchange roles and scenarios. She talked about the commonly viewed negativity surrounding kink ...it's "either the butt of a joke or a threat". People don't have good models of what a healthy consensual normative kink looks like. She defines kink as whatever is unusual in its place and time, which also varies greatly across the world. She discussed how novelty inspires our brain's arousal responses & we'd be bored if we were the carbon copy of our partners. She thinks hiding kinks is what leads to boring routine sex and dead bedrooms. She explained the scientific proof that kink can improve your life, increases the feel-good hormones in us, lower stress, increase closeness and improve bonding. There have been actual scientific studies to prove this! She also addressed how to navigate differences in a relationship and how best to prevent contempt and shaming of a partner.Connect with Stefani: www.boundtogethercounseling.com Podcast/conference: https://www.securingsexuality.comInsta: @BoundTogetherCounselingMastodon: @Tzefira_Neviah@ioc.exchangeBlueSky: @stefanigoerlich.bsky.socialBook (affiliate link this podcast may receive an advertising fee for purchases made through links, which are at no added cost to the purchaser): https://amzn.to/3qAY3AmWith Sprinkles on Top invites readers into playful and sex-positive exploration and affirms that vanilla and kinky people can thrive together in healthy relationships.RUAN'S BOOKS/AUDIOBOOKS:Neighborhood Sex Secrets: Buy links:https://books2read.com/u/3R5MZjhttps://amzn.to/3CVxzw8Decadent Erotica: https://open.spotify.com/show/1lBhpFaZB6TPpN1mbeOwdiRuan's Books, Audiobooks: https://books.ruanwillowauthor.com/Planet X/Podnation Roku tv station: https://player.frontlayer.com/live/fl427618Support the showSign up for Ruan's newsletters: https://subscribepage.io/ruanwillowhttps://linktr.ee/RuanWillowRuan is a Manscaped Ambassador get 20% OFF+Free Shipping with promo code RUANWILLOW20 at https://www.manscaped.com/ Ruan is a Kiirro Toys Ambassador get 10% OFF with code RUANWILLOW10 at https://www.kiiroo.com/Copyright 2021-2023 Pink Infinity Publishing LLC

That someone will click and activate (is that not a given?) What made them popular in the first place? Is this an example of management not taking security seriously, so we needed proof? https://www.csoonline.com/article/3619610/best-practices-for-conducting-ethical-and-effective-phishing-tests.html FTA: “This will only undermine the efforts of cybersecurity teams as a whole, alienating the very people they aim to engage with, Barker adds. “People generally don't like to be tricked, and they don't usually trust the people who trick them. One counterargument I often hear is that criminals use emotive lures in a phish, so why shouldn't we? Well, criminals also cause physical damage to property, take systems offline, and disrupt services, but physical social engineers and pen-testers don't—for good reason. Simulations should not cause active harm.”” Is this part of a larger issue? Why do we treat these tests the way we do? Typical scenario?Mgmt does not believe or trust their internal people to tell them what is wrong, and takes a 3rd party source/product to tell them the same thing. Are these stories Apocryphal?

In this episode, Mike welcomes Wolfgang Goerlich aka "Wolf" Advisory CISO at CISCO. Join us they discuss the tendency within security to disregard the human element leading to a lack of adhering to security protocols and rather a working around those protocols. When this happens, we see a correlation to a human need not being met. If that is understood and considered, the result is the development of much better security products all around.
In this episode, I had the opportunity to tap into highly productive- Wolfgang Goerlich. Where it is in his heart, giving the community knowledge about Cyber Security through his blog and helping aspiring CISO live on their dream and make it a reality.Join us to learn more about his journey and discover what makes him tick.

Why is SIEM an area of unease for so many security officers? To make detection and response successful, we need tools capable of upscaling the practitioners as well as equipping them to be successful. We need tools we can rely on. In today's episode, we had an inspiring conversation with J Wolfgang Goerlich, Advisory CISO at Cisco Secure. We discussed how trust is a determinant factor in building the security tools of the future, why so many CISOs lost trust over SIEMs and what we can do to rebuild it. Topics discussed in this episode: Wolf's role as advisory CISO. How we can use technology to solve business problems How CISOs perceive SIEMs today and security monitoring as a practice The investigative side versus the detection side of SIEMs How the detection personas have changed with the movement to the cloud Challenges of doing detection in the modern day The story of when Wolf worked in an open source project How Wolf advises CISOs on making a build versus buy decision How detection and response will evolve in the coming years 3 pieces of actionable advice to succeed with building effective detection programs at scale

How am I lucky to talk to such smart and amazing people? Still haven't figured that out. Here's another one.
We're joined today by Wade Baker, co-founder of Cyentia Institute (@wadebaker) and Wolfgang Goerlich (@jwgoerlich), Advisory CISO at Cisco, for a fun discussion on security outcomes.Wade and Wolf dissect the results from Cisco's 2021 Security Outcomes Study, which seeks to answer the ultimate question, "What actually works in cybersecurity?" using random sampling and statistical analysis. Together, we discuss how can we efficiently and effectively manage our cybersecurity risk, how is it that even the largest companies with the biggest security budgets still struggle to achieve certain outcomes, and with all the various options out there for achieving a successful cybersecurity program, which ones should practitioners focus on? New technology? More training? Better incident response procedures? Listen to find out!The full report can be downloaded for free from www.cisco.com/go/securityoutcomes
The past year has brought about an enormous shift in how we work which has led to security issues on a much broader scale. On this episode of Always On, Wolfgang Goerlich from Duo joins me to discuss how organizations are handling secure access and deploying trusted access at scale. You won’t want to miss our review of a secure outcome study, so press play to listen. You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in... Trusted access [1:22] The challenges that customers are seeing with the remote workforce [4:18] Learning what Duo can do for an organization [9:45] Improving the user experience [18:50] Intangibles that customers are getting from Duo [25:04] The outcomes of a secure outcome study [30:18] What role does Wolfgang Goerlich play at Duo? Duo is a trusted access company. This means they provide strong assurance for who a person is. This assurance is provided by multi-factor authentication and strong assurance for the devices they are coming in on. Duo also provides a robust policy engine that looks at not only those factors but also considers behavior analytics which factors in whether a person is behaving as expected. Wolfgang Goerlich is the Advisory CISO at Duo. He has led security in IT in both the healthcare and financial services industries. While he enjoyed growing teams in both of these fields, Wolfgang loves the fact that Duo is a design first, human-centered company. His role is to help ensure that the CISOs needs are known and met in the product. What are the challenges that customers are seeing with the growing remote workforce? Over the course of the past 12 months, there has been a massive shift in the way we work. We went through the largest migration in human history, and it was unique in that it wasn’t to a geographic place, it was from the physical to the virtual. This virtual migration has had long-lasting effects on both IT and security teams. The remote workforce will continue and even accelerate in the future. The security challenges that this shift has created are immense. That level of resilience wasn’t built into organizations. Now we couple that with authentication challenges, application access challenges, data access challenges, and loss of visibility. This is where Duo comes in to play an important role in solving some of these problems. How do you deliver services without VPNs? The remote access side is important but the other side is the visibility into the devices and their activity. Companies never had policies in place before about which devices had remote access and are coming to realize how important it is to create remote access policies. What can Duo do for an organization? Duo is more than an MFA it runs the full gamut of the portfolio of what Duo can do for an organization. It’s device trust, adaptive access policies, remote access, and SSO. Duo focuses on identity protection, data protection, and application protection. Behavior analytics plays an ever-increasingly important role in security now that the majority of activity is outside corporate control. The other side of Duo is what they are doing to improve the user experience. The goal is to reduce authentication friction so that the user can have a quality, consistent experience no matter where they are. The executives who are aligned with the business know that this is needed. So many CIOs and CISOs are trying to consolidate it down into an ecosystem that provides interoperability, visibility and context across the stack. Listen to this interview with Wolfgang Goerlich to discover how we can simplify, integrate, and reduce complexity while leaving the customers better than we found them. "Computers make excellent and efficient servants, but I have no wish to serve under them." That Star Trek Spock quote is relevant in more ways than one today, because in this episode we meet Gabriel Gumbs, Chief Innovation Officer at Spirion, a company which specialises in data and security privacy. Gabe's role is to lead the charge on where data security is going next, which includes the evolution of what Gabe lovingly refers to as the 'SPOC' (aka the security and privacy operations centre). We also chat about Gabe's career trajectory, from when he was hacking portable devices at school. We also touch on how he’s been able to overcome personal fears of speaking in public. After that, we welcome Nigel Houghton from Talos and Wolf Goerlich, one of our advisory CISOs for Duo Security at Cisco, to talk about the impact COVID-19 has had and potentially will have on security operations. We also learn how Talos was able to transform itself into a entirely remote workforce, and the technical and non technical challenges that arose from that. And Wolf talks about how organizations can modernise their security defences and take the path to passwordless. To learn more about this, do have a read of Wolf's paper 'Passwordless: The Future of Authenthication'You can also check out Gabe's other podcast, 'Privacy Please' https://www.buzzsprout.com/622234

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2020.05.28.121475v1?rss=1 Authors: Martins, D., Rademacher, L., Gabay, A., Taylor, R., Richey, J., Smith, D. V., Goerlich, K., Nawijn, L., Cremers, H., Wilson, R., Bhattacharyya, S., Paloyelis, Y. Abstract: Social incentives (rewards or punishments) motivate human learning and behaviour, and alterations in the brain circuits involved in the processing social incentives have been linked with several neuropsychiatric disorders. However, questions still remain about the exact neural substrates implicated in social incentive processing. Here, we conducted four Anisotropic Effect Size Signed Differential Mapping voxel-based meta-analyses of fMRI studies investigating the neural correlates of the anticipation and receipt of social rewards and punishments using the Social Incentive Delay task. We map the regions involved in each of these four processes in the human brain, identify decreases in the BOLD signal during the anticipation of both social reward and punishment avoidance that were missed in individual studies due to a lack of power, and characterise the effect size and direction of changes in the BOLD signal for each brain area. Our results provide a better understanding of the brain circuitry involved in social incentive processing and can inform hypotheses about potentially disrupted brain areas linked with dysfunctional social incentive processing during disease.
In today's episode of the Dallas Design Sprints podcast, we're joined by Sabrina Goerlich, Design Sprint Facilitator and design/ideation specialist from Stuttgart, Germany. She's the creator of the 'Brain Sprint', a local leader and collaborator with local startups and community groups while being highly active with the greater design sprint community across the globe. This episode is also an excellent lesson in hitting the 'Record' button before you interview anyone. Beyond our initial snafu, we talk at length about experimentation with design sprints, how the 'Brain Sprint' concept is coming along, and the empowerment of women in tech. I'm fairly certain there are five other topics we talked about... including our plans for 2019. But, you'll have to listen to the podcast to find out. :) ----- If you have any questions or comments about the podcast, please send them in to robert@dallasdesignsprints.com.

At 2014 SOURCE Boston, Josh Corman told me that Wolfgang Goerlich had an interesting DevOps story to tell. I sat down and spoke with Wolfgang and was astounded to hear a tale that could have come straight out of Gene Kim's book, The Phoenix Project. Listen in as Wolfgang describes the process of taking over a project that was mired in technical debt, falling behind in deliverables to stakeholders and in need of a new way of thinking. To me, this story is one of the strongest statements for DevOps that I've heard. About Wolfgang Goerlich As Vice President of Consulting Services at VioPoint, Wolfgang supports clients by advising, identifying, and assisting in managing information security risk as well as mentoring VioPoint’s consulting team. Wolfgang, known for his outstanding leadership in the technology and information security community, is the co-founder of OWASP Detroit and an organizer of the annual BSides Detroit conferences as well as an accomplished speaker at regional and national security events.
Amey Goerlich (KROMPF, Indie Cage Match, and sooo much more) is one of the most requested guests to be on the show. We discuss her origins in Experimental Theatre, the creation of KROMPF and so much more. This is one not to miss.
Synopsis Security has an interesting view on "business decisions", and in this podcast episode recorded at GrrCon 2012 in Grand Rapids, MI I sit down with some of the talent behind MISEC and we discuss #SecBiz topics of interest including the ugly phrase "it's a business decision" and why we say that. We also dive into how decisions are made, and why security and business are still often at odds on goals and acceptable 'risks'... and why our recommendations and guidance still falls on seemingly deaf ears. We sample some of the sage wisdom of J.W. Goerlich as he runs his IT and security organization, and how he asks his security employees to think business, and put themselves into the frame of reference of the business when making decisions. Jen Fox brings up Miller's Law, and teachs us to ask "What is that true of?" when framing discussions in the business context with non-technologists. Jen makes us think about frames of reference. She tells us that we must assume that a statement someone makes is true ... from their frame of reference and we simply must get inside their frame of reference to understand their thinking. Steven Fox gives us a little bit of a glimpse into the government world where you can't always go sit down with the decision maker, and have to depend on your relationships, cooperation, and sometimes back-room politics to get things done. I invite you to listen in, this is a timeless discussion that everyone should participate in. Guests J.W. Goerlich - @JWGoerlich - Information Systems and Information Security Manager. Regular InfoSec practitioner, occasional speaker and writer. INTJ. #MiSec, #BSidesDetroit, #CSA, #Owasp Jen Fox - @J_Fox - Making security accessible to the end user. Independent consultant, biz analyst, tech-to-biz translator, and diplomat. CIPP/IT and locksport enthusiast. Steven Fox - @Securelexicon - I am a Security Architect at the U.S. Dept of the Treasury & Penetration Tester passionate about security as a business value and differentiator.
