Send us a textWhat if breaking out of your comfort zone could unlock a life of purpose and fulfillment? That's the profound journey we explore today with our inspiring guest, Mark Delaney, the visionary behind the Purpose Mastermind. Mark walks us through his transition from a comfortable teaching career to leading a mastermind program that empowers individuals to uncover their life's purpose. His experiences with students revealed that the feelings of emptiness many express in adolescence often linger into adulthood, motivating him to seek deeper, meaningful conversations that have the power to transform lives.Mark shares personal anecdotes about overcoming fear and embracing the unknown, likening life's journey to an eagle breaking free from its cage. He emphasizes the necessity of harnessing our innate abilities to truly soar in life, even when the road is fraught with uncertainty. Together, we discuss how breaking free from the chains of safety can lead to profound liberation and a more gratifying existence, encouraging listeners to step into their own power and potential. In the final chapters, we dive into the significance of addressing personal struggles, particularly with mental health, and the freedom found in embracing one's true self. Through powerful stories, Mark highlights the value of placing ourselves in the right environment to realize our worth, beautifully illustrated by the varying value of a water bottle in different settings. Today we travel back to Melbourne, Australia, having had previous conversations with Ben Samild (now CIO of the AFF) & David Neal (CEO of IFM Investors). AustralianSuper, Australia's largest super fund, manages approximately USD $230bn for 3.4m members. Mark Delaney has been at its helm as CIO for almost 20 years. Mark describes the goals, the organisation and its investment principles. He explains why Australia consolidated its pension industry and the benefits it has reaped for pensioners and the economy. He discusses approaching global equities, why infrastructure is the “ballast in the boat”, his favourable view of private equity and why he likes active over passive. He also covers how he accesses commodity exposure, and why you can't worry about the markets when he's on his surfboard trying to catch a wave! In this episode, Mark Delaney shares his journey of finding purpose and helping others do the same. He emphasizes the importance of living with purpose, freedom, and love, and how these three things can simplify and enrich our lives. Mark believes that purpose must be simple in order to be lived out powerfully, and that overcomplicating it only leads to confusion and stagnation. He encourages people to take action and say yes to opportunities that align with their purpose. Mark also discusses the significance of leaving the prison of our own thinking and focusing on living a life that aligns with our true selves. To contact Dr. Dan go to www.DanielAFranz.com or email me directly at DrDan@DanielAFranz.com To support your favorite podcast on Mental Health & Meaning, pick up some meaningful The Meaning Project Podcast merch in our store at https://the-meaning-project-podcast.creator-spring.com/ And finally, if you would like to support our efforts to improve the podcast and maybe even connect with Dr. Dan in different ways, become a Patron on our Patreon page at: https://www.patreon.com/themeaningprojectpodcast.

What is something you would never trade? My guest today is Trading Kryptonite for a cape is akin to exchanging weakness for strength, vulnerability for invincibility. Kryptonite, the infamous Achilles' heel of the legendary superhero, Superman, represents limitations and vulnerabilities. In contrast, a cape symbolizes power, freedom, and the ability to soar above obstacles. This metaphorical trade underscores the importance of embracing one's strengths and overcoming weaknesses. Learning to take flight, whether figuratively or literally, embodies the essence of self-discovery and personal growth. By mastering the art of flight, one transcends earthly constraints and taps into one's full potential, propelling oneself towards new heights of success and fulfillment. So, let go of the Kryptonite weighing you down and don the cape of courage and determination, for the sky is yours to conquer. Join me as I take flight with Mark Delaney.

Need something to light you up today? Maybe some profound advice? Look no further!Today's episode features Mark Delaney, host of the podcast The Purpose Mastermind. He and his wife Andrea are purpose dealers, which means they spend their lives helping people clarify their purpose into one simple sentence. He says that having something in life that moves us and compels us is at the core of what it is to be human; that we should all be purpose-focused instead of problem-focused; that so many of us don't live with full expression because of the walls between us and others. He brings so much thought-provoking wisdom in this episode, wisdom that has me analyzing my day-to-day interactions, and he presents the great reminder that friendship is not extracurricular. It's not only for “people-people.” We are all made for people. In this episode you'll hear about:Focusing on your past and trying to fix it vs. discovering your purpose and using this to move forwardPowerful, positive relationships vs. negative relationships (as opposed to “positive” or “negative” people)Tweaking the simple things and auditing yourself: are you showing up as yourself or are you putting on a show? The impact of tiny, consistent steps in the right direction instead of big grand gesturesTapping into the people around us to help us with our self-reflection and the clarity that comes with vocalizationResources & LinksLearn more about Mark Delaney and his podcast, The Purpose Mastermind.Like what you hear? He represents FourKites at industry events and briefings. Prior to FourKites, Mark was a Retail Industry Principal at Zebra Technologies where he led customer briefings, met with the press and analysts and worked with their Ventures organization evaluating potential investments. Now because that loyalty's been shattered, there's a very good chance they're going to go across the street to your competitor." 21:56 The importance of listening to consumers and customers - Mark: "One other area that's top of mind with our customers these days is employee satisfaction. Because it's very expensive to lose a good employee, especially someone who's been there for a period of time and you've invested in all that training. For them to be mired down by spreadsheets and phone calls and all that, if you can give them that visibility and confidence that they're communicating something that's accurate, they feel better as associates." Why Goldman Sachs is bullish on Tesla stock TSLA: #1: Tesla's costs are headed lower #2: Tesla is a winner from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) #3: Tight EV supply supports higher prices, profits Goldman's investment thesis on Tesla: "We believe that Tesla, given its leadership position in EVs (including its vertical integration and tight coupling of hardware and software, as well as its ecosystem of charging stations and brand), and its focus on clean transportation more broadly (given its solar and storage businesses) is well positioned to capitalize on the long-term shift to EVs. We expect Tesla to expand margins in the intermediate term as it ramps the important Model Y product as well as new factories in Berlin, Germany and Austin, Texas, and in the long-term as it increases its mix of software revenue." These three frustrations led him to create his website and start his podcast to continue his service to others. The Veteran Professional “While veteran unemployment is for sure an issue, so is veteran underemployment. Veterans have an immense amount to contribute to society and we are leaving some of what we have to offer on the table.” Mark's goal is to help the transitioning service member “access higher education, pursue professional careers, and most importantly find meaning and purpose in your life after the uniform.” Learn More Website: https://theveteranpro.com/ Podcast: : Social Media: @theveteranprofessional Email: mark@theveteranpro.com VeteranCrowd Network Our "forever promise" is to build the veteran and military spouse community a place to connect and engage. Do you sense there's more in you – more to give to the world, more to experience, a more adventurous life to be lived – but you're not sure how to get started? Maybe you're wrestling with fear about leaving your comfort zone and the life you've been living. It feels like a leap, and yet you hope that just maybe there's more available to you. This week, we're revisiting one of our favorite podcast interviews - my conversation with my friend and purpose & life mentor, Mark Delaney. Mark and his wife Adena have spent their lives in the business of building people. When they became empty-nesters, they decided to go all-in with a mission to help people know their purpose. Mark and Adena designed a coaching program called The Purpose Mastermind. This process allows people to clarify their major life purpose in just one sentence. Mark and Adena will spend the rest of their lives proclaiming a simple message. “Every person has great purpose, they can know it clearly, and be set free to pursue it boldly.”In this conversation, we discuss Mark's story of leaving the comfortable to embrace more in his life, why living the life we really want feels like a leap (even though it shouldn't), and how much you will be changed as a person in the process of living your purpose. Some additional highlights include:-Why we look for things to numb or distract us, and the secret to breaking free from this-How knowing your purpose helps you really evaluate how well you lived today-Why we struggle with asking for help (and the reason why doing so is key to living the life you want)Please join me for this conversation with Mark and let's consider together how knowing our purpose brings clarity, direction, and fulfillment to our daily lives.Links and resources mentionedMark's website: markdelaney.meEmail mark@markdelaney.meChase the Lion by Mark Batterson: https://bookshop.org/a/1378/9781601428875 48 Days Eagles community w/ Dan Miller, New York Times Best Selling Author of 48 Days to The Work and Life You Love: https://www.48dayseagles.com/a/10052/UzHBhAb4Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREE48 Days Eagles CommunityLearn to create the work and life you love with a community of like-minded people.Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. It was another busy weekend of local GAA action with pride of place undoubtedly going to the Laois ladies footballers who claimed the Division 3 National League title with a thrilling win over Kildare on Sunday. In an epic battle in Baltinglass, Mo Nerney popped up with the winning point with less than a minute of normal time remaining. It was a heroic performance from Laois all round as they got the better of their neighbours for the the third time in a row - with this win also sealing promotion to Division 2 for 2022. It also sets them up perfectly for the All Ireland intermediate championship - where Kildare and Roscommon, the side they beat in the league semi-final, in their group. We hear from manager Donie Brennan while Steven and Alan look back on the game. We also hear from Laois hurling manager Seamas 'Cheddar' Plunkett in the wake of their disappointing 5-31 to 1-23 loss to Wexford in the opening round of the Leinster championship, a result that means they now have to beat Antrim in two weeks time to avoid dropping to the Joe McDonagh Cup competition once again. As well as that Alan goes into detail on the Laois minor footballers' dramatic penalty shootout win over Wexford on Saturday. And finally, we discuss Park-Ratheniska's Laois junior football championship win on Friday night and hear from their manager Kieran Kelly, chairman John Kelly, captain Mark Delaney and top scorer Kieran Delaney on what the success means for the club.

Finding your purpose can seem like an impossible task. Yet there is this internally calling that each of us feels in which we believe were we created for something. But how do we go from 'a feeling' to a roadmap to step into our full purpose? In today's show, Mark Delaney shares how we no longer need to wonder if we will stumble into our purpose. Instead, we can clearly know it and have a path forward. This purpose leads us to find impact in our lives and in the lives of those around us. It takes vulnerability, being confident in ourselves, overcoming the false answer of pride, knowing what to trust, and ultimately the willingness to step out of our comfort zone and into the unknown. It's time to live a life that matters.Mark and his wife Adena are on a mission. Their belief is that "We all have a great purpose. We can know it clearly and be set free to pursue it boldly!" They created a program called The Purpose Mastermind. This is a 4-week program that enables people to clarify their major life purpose and be set free from any mindsets that hold them back from boldly pursuing it. In the last couple of years, they have become empty-nesters and they are committed to spending the rest of their lives empowering others to live a life of purpose. Mark Delaney is a speaker, trainer and coach. He believes that there are two things that nobody should live without...great love and meaningful purpose. He and his wife, Adena, create resources to help people clarify their purpose and build loving relationships. They created two coaching programs. My Life Platform is created for couples that want to build a life together that makes a great impact on the world. They also created The Purpose Mastermind. This is a 3 week process that allows people to clearly identify their purpose. He loves to use stories and pictures to inspire people, so today we have asked him to tell us a story from his personal life. Mark has personally struggled with being overweight most of his life. In the past year, he went through a major transformation and today we are going to have him tell us his story. In this episode, Mark and Kari discuss Mark’s journey to change. Mark opens up the podcast by sharing that he feels that all people fundamentally have the same life. Step 1-I’m born, Step 2-I’m excited, Step 3-Something happens to us/from us, Step 4-Go into the bushes, Step 5-I cope. Mark shares how he always turned to food to help him cope with whatever struggle he was facing. He shares that he believed the lie that he needed to lose weight for 30 years. Mark reached a breaking point around 1 year ago after seeing a video of a guy, Alan Thomas, that shared his successful weight loss journey. Mark reached out to Alan and he became Alan’s first client as a weight loss coach. Mark shared that Alan didn’t give him advice on food or exercise but instead focused on mindset. Mark and Alan figured out together what was holding him back from losing the weight/gaining the weight in the first place. Mark shares how finally being vulnerable and asking the deep questions enabled the true change to take place. He also discusses the importance of having someone to be accountable to. Mark says that “accountability just helps you go back out for the next round.” It is key to have a group of people to encourage you to keep going, even if it’s hard. Mark shares how vulnerability and accountability brought him to one single moment where his entire life changed. Mark and his wife Adena are the founders of My Life Platform. They create programs that help people lead purposeful and powerful lives. Their passion is to see people cultivate great love and great purpose within their own homes. In this episode, Mark talks about: Understanding our purpose causes us to live boldly and intentionally. Here is what we have found: 1. Most people feel like they are "missing it" with their life. This feeling causes us to think we are at the wrong job at the wrong time. That stay at home mom feels like she is missing it and falling behind because she doesn't have a career. The mom that has a career feels like she is missing it because she is not at home. That is one example. 2. There are common mindsets that we tend to believe that make our life confusing and make it difficult to know our purpose. We could discuss a couple of these. 3. Lastly, we could have a short discussion on how to raise a child that is purposeful in how they live. Back in 2015 two men died, one to prostate cancer and the other by suicide. Patrick and Nathan were both in their early 40's, not famous nor particularly well known by superstar standards, but were extremely well loved and adored by their mates. Part of the grief and loss journey experienced by this group of caring and considerate friends, Travis Strong, Scott Eccleston, Stewart Jonson, Michael Fung, Jeremy Kruse, Mark Delaney and Glenn Hull was to establish a not for profit initiative called White Owl for Men's Health. Honouring their legacy, White Owl for Men's Health aims to raise awareness of men’s health issues and generate funds to go toward assisting support programs for men’s health issues. I spoke with with one of the White Owl founders, Travis Strong. https://www.facebook.com/travis.strong.31 https://www.facebook.com/whiteowlformenshealth/http://www.whiteowl.org.au/ References: Lifeline - Call in Australia 131114https://www.lifeline.org.au/ Suicide Call Back Service - Call in Australia 1300659467https://www.suicidecallbackservice.org.au/
LOW CARBON AND LOVING IT +FIGHT FOR THE BIGHT AT TRANSITIONS FILM FESTIVALMon 19th Feb 2018 Mark Delaney brought his kids up in the poor suburbs of Delhi.Returning to Australia he and his son Tom were shocked at our apathy round climate change. Their story is a fresh look at the “small picture solutions” we can all take to reduce our 23 tonnes per person to the 8 tonnes of a European or even the 2 tonnes CO2e of an average Indian. If you would like to participate in a book club to discuss this text over four weeks in April contact Vivien at – radioteam@bze.org.auDaniel Simons will tell us about some of the Transitions Films he has brought us to inspire climate action.Films such as: Food Fighter (22nd Feb) The last Animals( 24th Feb) Guardians of the Earth (27th Feb) and The Gateway Bug (2nd March)Eliza Muirhead directed one of the Transitions Films called Operation Jeedara with Tim Watters as co director . She will take us to the Great Australian Bight which is still threatened by oil drilling despite BP and Chevron having given up. You can support Sea Shepherd, The Wilderness Society, Greenpeace and the Mirning People who call the great white whale “Jeedara.”For climate action be aware that there are massive forests of kelp in these waters quietly sequestering carbon.

Mark Delaney Bible Teacher at Lincoln Christian School "Parenting" Is there a more important thing in life than the position of leadership in the home of a father? Keep Jesus in the home, keep your family in church. Take them to God's house. Kids put pressure on themselves. They believe they have to be great at something or anything right now. Not true! Parenting is like a farmer: Kids ages birth-12: "Preparing the ground" 1. Respect 2. Telling the truth 3. Don't steal YOU MUST TEACH KIDS THESE VALUES AT THESE AGES! It's near to impossible to begin to teach respect to a 14 yr. old. If you have one of these two things wrong in your life, you have one foot in hell: Do you lie? Do you steal? Discipline is a process; not an event. Kids ages 13-18: "Seed time" 1. Spread the seed. a) Don't put all the seeds in one part of the field. b) Families should not be chasing kids; have kids chase the family. 2. Empowering your kids; boundaries are relaxed a bit. Adulthood: "Harvest" Only three things really matter: 1. Will they know how to follow God? 2. Will they know how to follow love? 3. Will they be a kind of leader that raises Godly children? As a parent I should have those as my ultimate goals. All my decisions should reflect these goals. Activities and busy-work will not fulfill the ultimate purpose and responsibility we have as parents. Instead ask yourself: How is this activity preparing them for their future? Give your kids purpose. The purpose of parenting is not to see how much we can bless our kids. Don't be a guilt-driven parent. Our job is to teach them purpose and responsibility.
