We've all heard the motivational phrase, “Failure isn't an option.” It sounds inspiring, but is it really true? Failure, in reality, is an option—often chosen in the form of inaction, silence, or the unwillingness to engage. How many times have you held back an idea, avoided speaking up, or let a moment pass because of the fear of judgment? Playing it safe is extremely tragic. In today's episode, we're diving into the cost of silence and the hidden price we pay by not putting ourselves out there. What's really stopping us from stepping forward? And what can we do to shift from apprehension to action? In this tough love episode, Brett takes the gloves off and gets real about: The evolutionary roots behind our fear of rejection How our ego is the true source behind our hesitation to engage Criticism, its inevitability, and how to turn it into data Harnessing pride as a shield to protect against self-devaluation Navigating the fear of success versus the fear of failure Referenced Episodes: E259 | Understanding and Overcoming Perfectionism E105 | Overcoming Imposter Phenomenon Recommended Resources: Imposter Phenomenon Manual: If you struggle with imposter phenomenon, we created a free manual that many people have found to be super-helpful. Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) Discussion The discussion highlights the importance of collectives in college football, with Pete detailing his rankings of the top 15 collectives. Top 5 Collectives: Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, Oregon, and Miami. Ohio State: Topped the list due to their significant investment in player retention and transfer portal acquisitions. Oregon: Known for its strong financial backing, particularly from Phil Knight, founder of Nike. Miami: Despite John Ruiz's decreased involvement, Miami's collective is still a major player, investing over $50 million in its current roster. Tennessee: Has focused heavily on securing top quarterbacks. Impact of NIL Investments The discussion explores what happens when NIL investments do not yield the expected on-field success, using Florida State as a case study. The flexibility of NIL contracts allows for adjustments year to year, particularly concerning the transfer portal. Nebraska Cornhuskers MAJOR Weekend! Key Recruits Visiting Nebraska: Michael Terry (5-Star Athlete), Cortez Mills (Oklahoma Commit, Wide Receiver), Dawson Merritt (Alabama Commit, Linebacker), Christian Jones (Top Uncommitted Linebacker) and Jackson Cantwell (2026 Offensive Tackle) Impact of a Win Over Colorado Potential Poll Ranking: A win could propel Nebraska into the AP Poll rankings, which would be significant progress for the program. Recruiting Momentum: A victory could greatly enhance Nebraska's ability to attract top recruits like Michael Terry, Cortez Mills, Dawson Merritt, and Christian Jones by providing tangible evidence of the program's improvement. The Latest in Auburn Tigers Recruiting! Hugh Freeze's Recruiting Strategy: Genuine Relationships: Freeze is known for building authentic relationships with recruits and their families, making "small deposits" of goodwill and trust early in the process. Early and Strong Connections: Freeze's approach of starting early and finishing strong in the recruitment process is cited as a key factor in Auburn's success. Auburn's Position: Auburn is currently well-positioned to potentially finish with the number one recruiting class in 2025, a goal that is by design and not by chance. Top Recruits Discussion: Deuce Knight, Elijah Melendez, Naim Offord, Oumane Kromah. The Impact of On-Field Performance Importance of Winning Big Games: To solidify their recruiting success, Auburn needs to win key games against top teams like Georgia or Alabama. These victories serve as proof of concept for recruits. Michigan Wolverines Host MASSIVE Weekend vs Texas Key Recruiting Targets on Campus: Nathaniel Owusu Boateng (Linebacker, #69 Overall), Gregory Patrick (Offensive Line, Top 100, In-State), Will Conroy (Offensive Line, Ohio), Jermaine Kinsler (Defensive Line, New Jersey), Travis Johnson (Wide Receiver, Virginia), Jordan Thomas (Defensive Back, New Jersey), Javion Osborne (Running Back, Texas) Ongoing Recruitment Updates Andrew Babalola (5-Star Offensive Tackle) Commitment Watch: Michigan fans have been on commit watch for several weeks, but the decision remains uncertain. Michigan's Edge: If academics and elite football are the deciding factors, Michigan is in a strong position, but if NIL becomes more prominent, Auburn could have the advantage. Final Show Segment: Oregon Ducks Flip Targets! Key Flip Targets: Elijah Barnes (Linebacker, Top 100, Texas Commit), Na'eem Offord (Cornerback, 5-Star, Ohio State Commit), Jakeem Stewart (Defensive Lineman, #1 Overall Prospect for 2026), Chris Henry (Wide Receiver, 5-Star, #1 WR for 2026, Ohio State Commit). We've all been there. Our significant other is struggling and we ask “how can I help?” While this is well-intentioned, is there anything we can do proactively to meet these challenges head on, before things completely unravel? “Before tackling this problem, let me figure out how to make this simple. It's really not that complicated…” Have you ever taken this approach when dealing with a difficult issue with your family, friends, staff, or coworkers? While this tactic might work in some situations, most complex problems require solutions that reductive thinking simply can't provide. Library and bookstore shelves are brimming with management and leadership books packed with "how-to" lists, buckets, quadrants, and countless linear methods that promise to solve problems easily and efficiently, and take your people and business to the next level. From simplifying decision-making to categorizing leadership styles, these books often present a structured, step-by-step approach that appeals to those looking for quick fixes and plug and play templates. Whether it's procrastination, avoidance, or just the allure of a quick fix, it's time to roll up our sleeves and confront why we keep dipping into this well of oversimplified solutions—because, as Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. And when the real challenges hit, those tidy answers rarely stand up to the blow. In today's podcast, we're taking the gloves off and having a frank conversation about: Framework hopping, what it is and why people do it Why exposure alone NEVER equates to real skill or competence The long term effects of over relying on simple fixes to solve complex problems How leaning into the thing you're avoiding is the best path forward As always, we love your feedback! Space really is the final frontier. Since Star Trek first crossed TV screens in 1966, we have believed that humanity's destiny lies among the stars. And in the third decade of the third millennium, we are closer to that dream than ever before. Today, after decades of imagining the future, enterprising companies in partnership with governments are putting into place the practical foundations and critical components of a thriving space economy reaching from LEO to cislunar space. This podcast series will bring you the voices of some of these amazing partners on the journey to the final frontier. The second episode features a conversation with Nathan Orr, Chief Engineer at Momentus Space. Nathan Orr is the Chief Engineer at a Silicon Valley company called Momentus, where he leads a talented team of engineers creating orbital transfer vehicles that provide space transportation and hosted payload services. Previously, Nathan was also Chief Engineer at a startup asteroid mining company called Deep Space Industries, where he worked on novel concepts to mine resources such as water from near-Earth asteroids and developed water propulsion technology. Nathan has over 15 years of hands-on experience in the small spacecraft industry, having played a key role in over 18 missions, and has developed highly capable avionics and propulsion systems that have accumulated many years on flight time on orbit. Nathan received a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto in Canada.

Timestamps: 6:26 - MBAs aren't just for managers 12:22 - Covering any distance in less than 2h 15:43 - When hydrogen will become cheaper 24:34 - Building a hyperplane prototype in 4 months 29:33 - Dealing with aviation regulation About Mikhail Kokorich: Mikhail Kokorich is the founder and CEO of Destinus, an aerospace company building hyperplanes to provide the fastest transportation on earth. He studied business administration back in Russia and also went on to complete executive programs at Stanford, and co-founded several companies such as Astro Digital, Exact Farming and Momentus. Founded in 2021, Destinus is developing an extremely fast aircraft capable of moving cargo between continents in 1-2 hours. This vehicle will be a hybrid between an airplane and a rocket— they call it a hyperplane. It runs on hydrogen, which allows you not only to build incredibly powerful engines but also to cool them, so that overheating does not become an issue at that type of speed. Hydrogen-fueled hyperplanes are also carbon neutral. Hydrogen is not yet affordable, but from his talks with hydrogen producers Mikhail estimates that within 3-5 years, some selected airports will have it available at a reasonably low price; in 5-10 years, almost any airport will have it; and after 10 years it will hopefully become one of the primary fuels for aviation. After having built their first prototype in just 4 months, Destinus estimates that within 3 years a hyperplane MVP will be available for testing, but not yet for commercial use — for that they require certification. In the meantime their MVP will allow them to start generating some revenue and prove customer interest. Memorable Quotes: "With Hyperplanes, you will be able to fly to Tokyo to have dinner with your friends, fly back afterwards and sleep in your own bed." "In ten years' time hydrogen will hopefully become one of the main fuels for aviation." Avoiding Collisions in Space: The Ex Terra Podcast Space is getting crowded. And with the increase of satellite constellations, smallsats and debris, avoiding collisions in space is becoming a growing concern. What if satellites could take evasive action on their own, without input from a "human in the loop". Our guest on this edition of The Ex Terra Podcast is Eric Ingram, co-founder and CEO of Scout, a startup company working on just such a solution. Eric is a commercial spaceflight regulatory expert with a tremendous reach in the space industry and a history of building diverse, interdisciplinary teams. Eric has spent years in space exploration and disability advocacy, and has worked tirelessly to give back to the community. Eric is on the board of the Space Frontier Foundation and is part of Mission:AstroAccess. Scout recognizes that in situ space support services will enable humanity to become a spacefaring civilization. However, these services will be reliant on a space environment that is approaching its breaking point. Scout was created to tackle fundamental challenges in spaceflight which are often considered “acceptable risks.” The company is committed to changing that mindset to build a safer and more transparent space. For its work in avoiding collisions in space, Scout has been awarded a Phase 1 SBIR grant to develop their proprietary system. The company was also selected by Momentus to support upcoming proximity operations missions, and was named "Startup of the Year" at the 9th annual Startup of the Year summit. SCOUT was founded in 2019 by two individuals with a diverse background in start-ups and innovation research and development. They have built space programs and impressive teams across academia, government, and industry. How does what happens in space affect your everyday life? The Ex Terra podcast is dedicated to introducing you to many of the interesting people involved in the commercial space industry, and taking you behind the scenes with many of the companies making significant contributions to the new space economy. The podcast is available on Anchor, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Breaker, Overcast, Pocketcasts and Radio Public.
Momentus Inc. (NASDAQ: MNTS). The report goes over the beginnings of how Momentus came about and how they got listed through a SPAC in June 2020. The report also highlights the shady founder Mikhail Kokorich, a Russian national who has had no background in space. Momentus claims to have game changing water plasma rocket technology, but has not been able to produce anything at all. The idea is something out of a science fiction movie where they intend to use water to launch and maneuver rockets in outer space. The SEC investigated Momentus in July 2021 and by August 2021 the SEC concluded it's investigations of the company and labeled it a fraud. The company was sued by the SEC and had it's valuation decreased from $1.13 billion to $567 million after sanctions and penalties were imposed. On top of all of this, Momentus' water plasma propulsion system is a dud and the company is a worthless scam that is making a mockery of the entire capital markets. Compliance into the Weeds is the only weekly podcast which takes a deep dive into a compliance related topic, literally going into the weeds to more fully explore a subject. This week Matt and Tom take a deep dive into the recent SEC enforcement action regarding the SPAC Stable Road Acquisition Corp. and its acquisition of the space technology company Momentus. Some of the issues we consider are: What were the underlying facts? Were red flags missed, consciously avoided or outright ignored? Where was compliance due diligence? Bill Ackerman, Pershing Square Tontine Holdings and the proposed Universal Music acquisition? Diamond Acquisition Corp and its acquisition of Lordstown Motors. SEC Charges Stable Road SPAC and Space Startup Momentus with Misleading Claims. The SEC announced on Tuesday that it charged blank-check company Stable Road Acquisition Corp (SRAC.O), its sponsor SRC-NI, space exploration company Momentus Inc and two executives for misleading claims over their planned merger. The SEC said the companies and Stable Road Acquisition Company Chief Executive Brian Kabot agreed to pay $8 million to resolve allegations they misled investors about Momentus Inc.'s technology and national security risks associated with its former CEO Mikhail Kokorich. The entities, settled with the SEC without admitting or denying the allegations. An attorney for Kokorich, who is fighting the SEC's charges in court, said his client "looks forward to a resolution of this matter which is favorable to him."This marks the latest escalation in the SEC's crackdown on Wall Street's special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, frenzy, which has reached a record over $100 billion this year. The SEC's action is the first targeting all sides of a SPAC transaction as well as executives in an investigation that took under a year, an SEC official said.According to the SEC, Kokorich and Momentus, an early-stage space transportation company, repeatedly told investors that it had "successfully tested" its propulsion technology in space, when its only in-space test had failed to achieve its primary objectives or demonstrate the technology's commercial viability. The regulator also alleged that Momentus and Kokorich misrepresented the extent to which national security concerns involving Kokorich undermined Momentus' ability to secure governmental licenses essential to its operations. The SEC accused Stable Road, its sponsor and Kabot of negligence-based fraud.Patrick's Books:Statistics For The Trading Floor: https://amzn.to/3eerLA0Derivatives For The Trading Floor: https://amzn.to/3cjsyPFCorporate Finance: https://amzn.to/3fn3rvC Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/PatrickBoyleOnFinanceVisit our website: www.onfinance.orgFollow Patrick on Twitter Here: https://twitter.com/PatrickEBoyleYouTube: Patrick Boyle - YouTube Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/PatrickBoyleOnFinance)
Carl Quintanilla, Jim Cramer and David Faber took a deep dive into the latest batch of bank earnings: Bank of America beat on the bottom line but missed on revenues, while Citigroup and Wells Fargo each posted better-than-expected quarterly results. Asset management giant BlackRock also beat the street. The anchors reacted to what BlackRock CEO Larry Fink told CNBC about his expectations for the market amid inflation fears and worries about the recent spread of COVID-19's Delta Variant. They also discussed Fed Chair Powell's prepared remarks ahead of his Capitol Hill testimony -- that say inflation will likely remain high in the coming months. A good morning for airline stocks: American said it expects to report positive cash flow for the second quarter, while Delta posted better-than-expected quarterly results and what it calls a "solid" pre-tax profit for the month of June. The anchors reacted to Delta CEO Ed Bastian telling CNBC he expects "solid profitability" in the current quarter and beyond as the consumer drives the carrier's recovery. Apple hits a new record high: The company reportedly asking suppliers to build as many as 90 million next-generation iPhones. Also in focus: A new record high for the S&P 500, how to play FAANG and Microsoft as new FTC Chair Lina Khan looks to rein in big tech, and on the SPAC front -- the SEC charges Momentus and Stable Road for "misleading disclosures" ahead of their proposed business combination.
Carl Quintanilla, Jim Cramer and David Faber explored the road ahead for stocks on the final trading day of the month, quarter and first half of the year -- the S&P 500 on track for its best 1H since 2019. Cramer explains why he prefers semiconductor stocks such as Nvidia and AMD over the FAANG names. The anchors also took a deep dive into the energy stocks that are soaring so far this year. A busy day for IPOs also in focus: Wall Street debuts led by Didi -- the Chinese ride-hailing giant and rival to Uber and Lyft -- which priced its offering at $14 per share, raising $4.4-billion. Identity verification platform CLEAR Secure, cybersecurity firm SentinelOne and LegalZoom also making their public debuts. Also in focus: A report which says Apple won't back down from its hybrid work model despite employees asking to be fully remote. The Biden Administration said to be considering an executive order aimed at reining in the power of big business, ESG and the Exxon Mobil proxy fight, A strong morning for retailers such as Walmart and Bed Bath and Beyond, and in-space transportation company Momentus has its valuation slashed in a revised SPAC deal.

At the age of nine, Hannah launched her blog, Call Me Hannah, to share her growing concern for environmental issues and show that small, everyday actions can lead to big change. Today, at 17-years-old, she has emerged as an activist, impassioned public speaker and author. Hannah uses her voice and platform to motivate and empower people of all ages to identify their passion and take action for a better world. “I believe we all have the capacity and responsibility to create change. I don’t care how old you are, how young you are, where you live or how much money you have. The ability to create change does not discriminate; it’s in everyone.” — Hannah Alper. Just as Hannah does not limit herself to one issue or platform, she is not bound geographically. While she calls Toronto home, she has travelled across North America over 35 WE Day shows and delivered keynote presentations at schools, conferences and corporations. Her passion for community and desire to be fully engaged drew her to spend time in Kenya with ME to WE and Costa Rica with National Geographic. Nothing inspires Hannah more than her peers who answer their own calls to action, and she surrounded herself with them as she participated in the Teen Vogue Summits in Los Angeles and New York City. In November 2017, Hannah released her book, Momentus: Small Acts, Big Change, based on her conviction that one person, one action, one moment can make a difference. Through sharing her own journey and stories from her role models, Hannah provides tangible, real-life, and current examples that back up this idea. This book is more than a “how-to” guide; it gets to the heart of what sparks people to create change. Momentus features 19 exclusive interviews with activists, youth change-makers, and celebrities such as Malala Yousafzai (Nobel Peace Prize Winner), Lilly Singh a.k.a. Superwoman (YouTube Creator and author), and Blake Mycoskie (Founder and Chief Shoe Giver, TOMS), the book highlights practical examples of the power of positive change in the world, whether large or small. Hannah lives just outside Toronto with her parents and two dogs and is a local public school student. This past year was a trying one for all of us, and this new year has started off with challenges, too. It would be easy to believe that we as a society are headed in a negative direction, to be fearful of the future – but as Tony says, Fear is simply imagination undirected. What happens when you give direction to your imagination? That’s what we call faith. Faith is not learned, it’s something we are born with. Faith is what fuels us through times of fear and uncertainty. It is more powerful than any emotion, even fear. When all hell is breaking loose, it gives us the ability to find our center, to help ourselves and others to find answers, to find a higher meaning in the midst of our pain and in spite of our fear. And if you’re a leader, you take that certainty and transfer it into others, because human conviction has a viral effect and will spread. Faith is knowing that at our core we're more than anything we will ever face, and we can handle whatever life brings us. We always have and we always will. That is the power of the human race. In this episode, Tony sits down with four extraordinary human beings that are working to solve major global issues, who believe so strongly in their solutions and have so much certainty that it’s almost contagious! These four leaders are not only world changing technology experts, but the founders and CEOs of companies that are bringing the stuff of science-fiction novels to life. And faster than anyone thought possible. They're doing things that will change the lives of billions of people all across the globe. Their ultimate outcome is to increase that quality of life for everyone in existence and for generations to come. In this episode, you will learn about: The future of food. Hear from CEO and co-founder of Upward Farms, Jason Green. (Yes, you read that right – he may indeed have a green thumb!) Upward Farms is a Brooklyn-based indoor aquaponic farm sustainably growing leafy greens and fish with the highest ecological and quality standards. Jason is changing the way we grow food and challenging the environmentally devastating practices we’ve been using for so long. The future of energy. Learn from the genius mind behind the monetization of search words, Bill Gross, whose company, Idealab, is the longest running technology incubator in the history of the world. He’s taking on sustainable energy like no human on earth has done before. The future of space. Hear from Mikhail Kokorich, CEO of Momentus, a space transportation company. Mikhail’s commercial and private space travel is the stuff of every sci-fi lover's dreams. But he’s taking it from beyond the pages of books and movies and making it real with special water propulsion technology. And he’s not just stopping at transportation. The future of business. Tony pulls insights from founder and general partner of Prime Movers Lab, Dakin Sloss. His company is all about seeing the value in people’s visions for starting new companies, and providing the funding and guidance to get them off the ground. But these aren’t your average entrepreneurial startups, these are companies that will change the way we experience life. Most of you know that Tony is incredibly passionate about anything that can increase the quality of people's lives. He’s obsessed with finding answers and solutions. He’s also obsessed with finding entrepreneurs and companies that are on the brink of changing the world and being a part of that in any way he can. For Tony, this usually means more than just investing with them financially, but going on a journey with them, and investing on a soul-level. We hope you enjoy this episode! "I'm obsessed with entrepreneurs and companies that are about to change the world." - Tony Robbins
This week’s Alpha Trader podcast features hosts Aaron Task and Stephen Alpher speaking with Cody Willard, hedge fund manager and editor of Trading With Cody. “Please be selective with your trades,” Willard recently wrote, calling the current action a “bubble-blowing, bull market, blow-off top phase.” He takes note of recent massive moves in what are otherwise penny stocks, as well as the SPAC IPO frenzy. Those words don’t come easy to Willard, who has been mostly bullish for about a decade, but now describes himself as a cautious net seller of equities. Certainly no penny stock, but surely a sign of the times, Tesla (TSLA) was up big again on Monday even as the major averages sharply sold off. Willard has owned the stock for much of its run higher, and still believes in the transformative nature of the company. Marveling that nothing seems to ever shake the shares, Willard continues to hold the stock, but wonders how much more upside there can be from the current $700B market cap. Turning to what might be some other bubbly action, Willard’s been an owner of Bitcoin (BTC-USD) for many years, but feels it’s gotten ahead of itself. He thinks the most recent big run higher may have come at the expense of investors selling gold (XAUUSD:CUR) to buy the crypto (which has taken on the nickname of “gold 2.0”). A reversal may be in order, says Willard, adding that the SPDR Gold ETF (GLD) is one of his favorite positions right now. Appearing on Alpha Trader almost exactly one year ago, Willard was excited about the multi-trillion dollar opportunity in space exploration. He remains so, but the pure-play publicly traded vehicles are slim, with Virgin Galactic (SPCE) and Stable Road Acquisition (SRAC) - which is merging with space travel company Momentus - maybe the two most well known. He’s most bullish and owns a stake in still-private SpaceX (SPACE), believing the company might be worth $1T if public. Alas, Willard doesn’t expect Elon Musk to ever make that move, given some of the regulatory headaches he’s dealt with at Tesla. There’s plenty more, including a discussion of a still-private 3D printing rocket company, why Apple (AAPL) remains an exciting long, and host Aaron Task making a great elevator pitch for getting long the roughed-up dollar (USDOLLAR). Interview with James Perryman Momentus was founded on the belief that becoming our best selves starts with understanding ourselves. We help individuals and businesses realise their potential through carefully-crafted coaching and communication programmes centred around them. Our core three areas of focus are Career & Leadership Development, Team Effectiveness & Engagement and Customer Experience & Engagement. We work with businesses to help them develop (and retain) leaders who inspire, breakdown barriers between teams and functions, and create customer experiences that convert. We support individuals to help them navigate career crossroads and find new ways forward, to embrace the unknown and unlock new professional possibilities, helping them to communicate more effectively.
In this episode we talk to Stefan Siarov. Stefan holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology, and a MSc. in Industrial Engineering from Ghent University. As an aerospace engineer, Stefan has fulfilled a variety of roles. During his time at the European Space Agency, he did research on 3d printing for in-space manufacturing with high performance thermoplastics and assessed the use of these 3D printing materials for radiation shielding. He did this while being part of the leadership team of an innovation team called Spaceship EAC, at the European Astronaut Centre. Currently he is working at Valispace as systems engineer and marketing manager. Valispace is a browser-based software that enables engineers to collaboratively design better satellites, rockets and other complex hardware products. Since then, organisations such as Airbus, Gomspace, DLR, LuxSpace, Momentus and others have become their customers. The practice of engineering today is limited by its tools. Tools designed for a different time and era especially when it comes to the space community where compartmentalisation is a common feature. This feature has limitations when it comes to collaboration when engineering complex systems. The more complex a product becomes, the more engineers need to work together. Valispace allows engineers to collaboratively develop better complex hardware products, including rockets and satellites. It serves as a Single Source of Truth and allows engineers to store and collaborate along the engineering life-cycle, all the way from requirements, through detailed design up to verification and testing. Valispace reduces hardware development costs by >20%, by digitising non-CAD data, using browser-based collaboration and complementary integrations to common engineering tools. It supports interdisciplinary teams throughout the engineering lifecycle, from requirements management, through detailed design up to automatic verification. In short: it is Github for Hardware. Valispace has been named in Forbes as one of Germany’s 100 most innovative Startups in 2018, featured in Wired and Techcrunch and has won multiple startup awards. In this episode I am speaking to Damian Jamroz and Grzegorz Marzec of the Polish NewSpace company SatRevolution. The company was founded in 2016 and specialises in real-time earth observation for civilian and military applications. SatRevolution has launched three satellites to date, with the last launch occurring at the beginning of September 2020 on an Arianespace Vega rocket, while the next one is planned for December 2020 on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. These satellites are all milestones towards building an Earth-observation constellation that will be operational from 2023. Recently, SatRevolution has focused on developing the STORK platform, which is scheduled to be launched in June 2021. The goal of STORK is to develop a shared-services capability so that multiple satellites can be launched within one platform and benefit from SatRevolution's Earth-observation capabilities. Hence, SatRevolution will focus on designing, manufacturing and integrating the platform satellite, while their customers and external partners can focus on work related to development of their own technologies and experiments. In this wide-ranging episode of the Aerospace Engineering Podcast we talk about: the history of SatRevolution why Earth-observation satellites are such a hot topic at the moment the details of SatRevolution's previous satellites and the upcoming STORK mission how SatRevolution is using AI for earth observation and what the future holds for the company. "The most exciting new podcast in the startup world.” - Eric Ries, Founder, and NYTimes bestselling author Today's episode is a deep dive into the space technology sector. It's with the Y-Combinator backed Momentus founder and CEO, Mikhail Kokorich. Momentus is one of the most exciting space tech startups in the world right now — and is a rocket technology company focusing on “last-mile delivery” based here in the Bay Area. He has founded five businesses before but we really focus the episode on his experience in the space tech sector, especially with SpaceX's recent launch of humans into space by a commercial, private company. The first of its kind. We cover everything from the current environment of launching satellites, astronauts, and so on, tourists, into space by a commercial private entity with something like SpaceX and others on the way. We also talk about the various other commercial aspects of Space Technology... from satellites to mining to tourism to energy... it’s about to become a space gold rush, and I wanted to chat with an expert to give us all an overview of where this whole Space “space” is going. This episode is MOMENTUS because it marks my first ever returning guest in RORY SCOVEL! Rory is an amazing comedian, actor, and now producer! He has a new show called "Robbie" which is available on YouTube right now. Rory stars in the show with his wife Jordan and he PRODUCES it. Robbie is based on a character he had come up with many years ago. This show brings us into the world of this insecure basketball coach and reveals his ability to cope or not cope. We talk about surviving this uncertain time and trying to figure out who the hell we are! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Alexander Wicks is the Chief Development Officer at the California-based startup Momentus Space. Momentus is developing the in-space equivalent of the connecting flight we all know from airline operations. To affordably launch small satellites into orbit, operators and manufacturers of small satellites are generally forced to share a ride on one big rocket. This approach is economical, but has one major downside: not every satellite on the ride share can be launched into its ideal orbit. Momentus is developing the transfer vehicle that then allows a satellite to reach its customisable orbit 10 times cheaper than booking a dedicated launch on the first vehicle. This capability essentially allows the next generation of satellites to reach previously unreachable locations more efficiently and more inexpensively than before. The transfer vehicle that Momentus is developing is powered by water plasma propulsion, and the same propulsion technology also opens the door to the next phase of space exploration. For example, missions into deep space, water prospecting and delivery throughout the solar system, in-space manufacturing, and space tourism. In this episode of the podcast you will learn about: how Momentus got started the need and benefits of Momentus' transfer vehicle the principles of water plasma propulsion and the types of missions the technology enables This episode of the Aerospace Engineering Podcast is brought to you by my patrons on Patreon. Where better to compare "Old Space" and "New Space" than Silicon Valley, where both have deep roots and a significant presence today. And who better to compare them than someone who's spent an entire career in the valley and worked in each camp? Negar Feher is that person. After working for fifteen years with the Big Boys, in 2019 she moved over to a tiny little startup called Momentus, just a few miles down the road, yet worlds apart, from her old job and the life she once knew...
